The monthly podcast includes astrological insights for every star sign, not only the sign of the month.
With some pretty Italian footballers to watch in one direction, and a frighteningly muscled Russian strongman in the other, we recorded this month’s podcast in the beating heart of the metropolis — London’s busy Regent’s Park on a hot, sunny spring day. It seemed appropriate to soak up the atmosphere of a famously Gemini town while we talked to you about this month (rather lovely) ahead.
Listen out for the local colour and the many distractions — so Gemini!
Retrodiction: Sally spills the beans on Mars and Uranus from her Scorpio perspective.
Sun Sign: Gemini is the sign of the month — of course. Christina is in the swim thanks to her Gemini Moon, and a certain fairytale young lady of her close acquaintance, and Sally explains why Geminis make the most intriguing friends.
Don’t worry though, it’s not all about the Twins, every single Sun sign gets a mention from Aries to Pisces, and for everyone, this month has some unmissable gorgeous moments.
The Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle takes place this Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 12pm. Royal wedding fever is already gripping the tabloids and with regard to Meghan’s family, it’s been a bumpy ride to the big day itself.
This isn’t a huge surprise to astrologers because Harry and Meghan have chosen their wedding date in the same week as some very lively astrology, namely Uranus’ move into Taurus and the Mars-Uranus square. This is extremely significant and it can tell us a lot about what the wedding means and why this is such a pivotal moment in Royal history.
The Wedding Chart
Before revealing more about the Uranus’ factor, it’s worth referring to the astrology chart for the wedding, the exact moment when the wedding ceremony begins (see right).
Event charts are a moment in time, a snapshot of the planets’ positions, which tell a story through the astrology.
On our recent astrology podcast, Christina, the Oxford Astrologer, and I mentioned the fact that Venus, the planet of love, wasn’t well placed in the chart for the wedding because it’s at 29 degrees Gemini and about to change star sign.
Some astrologers writing about the wedding have waxed lyrical about the fact that Venus moves into Cancer, the sign representing home and family, on the day of the wedding. Yes, it does, at exactly 14:11, but too late for the wedding ceremony. Venus in Gemini is light & flirty and often a symbol of two relationships.
Venus in Gemini about to change star signs is not as strong a planetary placing as Venus at 0 degrees Cancer would have been, in the caring, kind and family-oriented star sign. In the wedding chart, Venus in Gemini rules the 3rd house of siblings, and this has been one issue running up to the big day for Meghan.
In an event chart, it’s also important to look at the ruler of the Ascendant and the swift-moving Moon. Fortunately, these are both strongly placed. The Sun is the chart ruler, steady and reliable in Taurus in the 10th house of status. The Moon is at home in its sign of rulership, caring Cancer, so the wedding itself will no doubt be warm and loving and bring people and family together.
Note the Moon’s aspects, as they also tell a story. The Moon’s closest planetary aspect is a difficult one, an opposition to Pluto. This too symbolises the secrets and exploitation of this week’s events in the media.
Thankfully, the Moon is separating from Pluto and its next planetary aspect is strong, a harmonious sextile aspect to the Sun. The Moon and Sun come together, a symbol of marriage in astrology, as the Moon is Queen and the Sun is King. They are united in the wedding chart.
Uranus: All Change, New Beginnings
Back to Uranus and the fact that, on May 15, 2018, Uranus changed star sign for the first time in seven years. Uranus represents change and all things modern and we know that this young couple who are exchanging vows are bringing something new to the royal family. Meghan is older than Harry, divorced, mixed-race and has already made her way in the world as a TV celebrity.
This alone shows the world that the times are a’changing. On paper, Meghan might not be the obvious choice for a Royal bride. Yet, the Royal Family and the public have embraced Harry’s choice of partner and Meghan’s Sun Leo ‘royal’ credentials and her charming nature have helped win people over.
In the wedding chart, you also see the separating Mars-Uranus square, which was exact on May 16, 2018. Mars rules the Scorpio IC, the point in the birth chart which represents family. This too seems to be a symbol of Meghan’s messy family situation which has dominated the pages of the media this week.
Note, however, the exact degree of Uranus at the time of the wedding: 0 Taurus 12. This is extraordinary because it’s the exact degree and minute of the Queen’s Sun in Taurus. Considering it takes Uranus eighty-four years to circuit the zodiac, this planetary event is rare. You can’t count out the Queen abdicating under this transit, although you never know, Her Maj might develop a love of hip-hop or start tweeting!
The extra Uranus factor shows that this wedding is not only a loving union but something deeper. It’s the inevitable passing on of the Royal Family. The old ways are coming to an end and, as always in life, the new ways or new protocol begin to press forward, demanding attention.
We’ve already seen that William & Kate, Harry & Meghan make an awesome foursome or the Royal Fab 4 as they’ve been dubbed. They’re going to be out in the world, effecting change, getting involved with mental health projects, championing the Invictus Games, and be pushing for social progress. Meghan will no doubt be keen to continue her campaigning on issues for women and girls.
This Royal Wedding is the start of the new beginnings, which is why it’s so powerful that it’s taking place only four days after Uranus’ major shift in the zodiac. Plus, Uranus is triggering the birth charts of two other key individuals in the Royal Family. Prince Charles’ Moon is at 0 Taurus 26, so he shares a cosmic marriage with his mother, the apple of her eye.
Charles’ Moon is in the 10th house ruling his career but, unlike the Queen who has Saturn, the planet of authority, dominant on her Scorpio Midheaven, Charles has no planets atop the Midheaven, the point of prestige in the astrology chart. The person who does, however, is Charles’ son, Prince William, the real heir to the throne.
William has Jupiter, the planet of popularity and new rulership, at 0 Scorpio 20 conjunct his Midheaven at 2 Scorpio 29. This means that in only a few days time, both Charles and William will have exact Uranus transits to significant planets in their astrology, one a conjunction and one an opposition. It’s the end of one era and the beginning of a new era.
Let’s sit back and enjoy the wedding and hope that the family stories which have dominated the wedding week will fade away. There’s much to be adored and cheered for on the wedding day itself as two remarkable young people declare their love for one another.
Then, let’s see what Uranus’ transit at 0 degrees Taurus brings to the Royal Family.
p.s. I also just read an article stating that the wedding this Saturday could be in the Top 10 of most expensive weddings ever! That sounds like Uranus in Taurus, the money sign…
Action planet, Mars, is on the move this week as it enters the sign of the collective, Aquarius on May 16, 2018. Mars, however, has no intention of whizzing through the star sign which represents community, friendship, comrades and wider society.
You might as well take your time deciding which team you want to join because, once you find your tribe, your group, your club, your society, you’re going to be hanging out together until mid-November 2018 at least.
This is because Mars turns retrograde in July and August 2018, i.e. it retreats through the zodiac. This is when you’re wise to slow things down, re-group and turn your attention inward. As always in astrology, timing is the key if you’re to be successful. Here’s the run of events:
Mars enters Aquarius – May 16 2018
Mars turns retrograde [9 Aquarius 13] – June 26 2018
Mars retreats into Capricorn – August 13 2018
Mars turns direct [28 Capricorn 37] – August 27 2018
Mars returns to Aquarius – September 11 to November 15 2018
Mars rules ambition and drive, speed and fury. In astrology, Mars is the warrior, and when Mars is powerful, this symbolises desire, passion, a fighting spirit, physical activity, courage, daring. Mars wants to get from A to B as swiftly as possible. Direct action is Mars’ domain, fierce and forceful.
Aquarius is the sign linked to the collective and social networks. Aquarius is both systematic and technological, wacky and original and Mars in Aquarius loves to pursue a worthy cause, whether humanitarian, egalitarian, political or social.
Aquarius is a fixed sign and Mars in Aquarius may dig its heels in, refusing to deviate from its beliefs or values. Try not to be inflexible, while at the same time you stand strong in your principles. This can be a tricky tightrope to walk.
Mars Square Uranus
Mars’ transit through Aquarius coincides with Uranus’ transit through Taurus and Uranus is co-ruler of Aquarius. This unlocks the rebel nature within society and the desire to fight for what you believe in. Yet, Mars and Uranus will clash three times this year and this is rarely an easy planetary aspect. Mars can be volatile and Uranus is the trigger for impulsive action.
Watch your step on the dates below and avoid explosive or foolhardy behaviour. Being overly speedy or hasty can cause accidents and impulsive actions lead to irreversible consequences. Take your time and veer away from anger, violence and any fragile situation that could blow up at any moment.
Mars Aquarius square Uranus Taurus (0 degrees 02) – May 16, 2018 (08:04 GMT +1)
Mars R Aquarius square Uranus Taurus (2 degrees 32) – August 2, 2018 (03:39 GMT +1)
Mars Aquarius square Uranus R Taurus (1 degree 52) – September 19, 2018 (00:01 GMT +1)
Instead, wait for the more volatile planetary activity to settle down and then work at your collective goals. Mars in Aquarius is the team player and Mars in Aquarius is at its best on a mission. Here are the key areas of your life triggered by Mars’ move into the systematic and quirky air sign, Aquarius.

Aries: friends, groups, social networks, hopes & wishes
We are heading towards the New Moon, which this month takes place in Taurus, one of the earth signs. In traditional astrology, the Moon is exalted in Taurus, i.e. the Moon is comfortable here. Earth sign Taurus is a safe harbour for the emotional, changeable Moon, a place it feels protected, safe and secure.
Taurus rules food, produce, money, art and nature and the Moon in Taurus not only caters for your basic needs but allows wiggle room for some serious indulgence.
The Uranus Factor
This, however, is a very special New Moon because, only three hours after the New Moon, the planet which represents change, Uranus, also moves into Taurus, for the first time in seven years. Uranus in Taurus is a different symbol altogether as it’s the planet of electricity coursing through the earth, bringing sudden shocks, uprooting and adding something entirely new to star sign Taurus.
You can’t help but think of the incredible pictures of the active volcano, Kilauea, in Hawaii and the lava that has forced its way through the solid earth, slowing consuming anything in its path – a clear symbol of Uranus in Taurus.
Therefore, this week’s New Moon has added frisson. It’s not your traditional New Moon in Taurus, a symbol of steady and well-planned new beginnings.
What Does It Mean?
Here’s what to think about with the current astrological symbolism. Uranus in Taurus might take away your safe base, your anchor, your roots. If this is true for you, this New Moon presents an opportunity to rethink where your values lie, what security means to you and your money strategy moving forwardd. Events this week could necessitate a fresh start and a reevaluation of your current situation.
Or another possibility, you’ve been digging in your heels around a change in your life that you know is overdue or you dearly want to initiate. Yet, you’ve been held back or you’re holding back. If this is true for you, consider the symbolism of the New Moon activated by Uranus entering the same star sign, and this is your chance to take a leap of faith. Do something wild and crazy, break out of your comfort zone and alter your routine.
If you’re launching a project on this New Moon or setting new intentions, be aware that they could take off like a rocket as your ideas go viral. Uranus rules technology, revolution, itchy feet and a freedom-loving spirit. Uranus refuses to bow down to convention but instead walks its own path. Bear this in mind too, during this week of active, exciting and dramatic astrology.
Here’s a quick reminder which areas of life are zinging for you (read both your Sun Sign and your Ascendant Sign):
Aries – money & values
Taurus – personal goals & self image
Gemini – solitude & secrets
Cancer – friends & wider society
Leo – career & status
Virgo – travel & study
Libra – joint finances & sexuality
Scorpio – love & relationships
Sagittarius – job & health
Capricorn – birth i.e. kids, love, creative project
Aquarius – home & family
Pisces – local community & ideas

Also, it’s worth re-reading your monthly horoscope as there’s a lot about this mid-month period to read and peruse. Here’s the link: Monthly.
I watched Eurovision last night for the first time in ages and loved it. It is such a glorious mish-mash of music, culture, colour, diversity, performance, catchy tunes, incredible voices, noise and general over-the-top quirkiness and madness. Why would you want to leave that behind? Not that we will lose Eurovision if we leave Europe, which is insane because why would you want to lose all that culture and diversity?
Anyway, that’s not really the point of this post. I switched off Eurovision before the votes came in last night (as the voting procedure is interminably long) but knew who I wanted to win and she did. The glorious Netta from Israel with her bonkers song Toy. The lyrics: ‘Look at me, I’m a beautiful creature’ and she was, also the memorable lyric ‘I’m not your toy, you stupid boy’. I hope Harvey Weinstein et al were watching.
The flavour of the #metoo movement had its stamp all over the song. Drawing up the chart this morning, there’s Jupiter in Scorpio prominent on the Ascendant. Astrologically, Jupiter in Scorpio has been the signature for the #metoo movement bringing truth and justice to the dark taboo places, sexual harrassment included.
Plus the Sun-Jupiter opposition straddles the Ascendant/Descendant, a planetary aspect that is all about big gestures and glorious extravagance, a perfect symbol for Eurovision.
I also like the fact that Venus is in Gemini in the chart, symbolising two women, and Cyprus’ Eleni came second with ‘Fuego’ Fire and one of those songs that you have to dance to. She was captivating to watch and gorgeously sexy.
Which just goes to prove that woman is beautiful and sexy in all its different shapes and forms. Two women came 1st and 2nd last night at Eurovision and both of them were beautiful.
Uranus, the awakener and planet of change, is on the move on May 15, 2018 as it enters earth sign Taurus. The last time Uranus changed star sign was 2011 and Uranus remains in Taurus until 2026. What will this epic move mean for you? Read both your Sun sign and Ascendant sign for a complete picture.
Uranus has spent the last seven years in your star sign, Aries, and this can feel like the equivalent of a mid-life crisis. You’re spontaneous and direct by nature and Uranus will have activated your inner activist and your desire for change. You may have developed a powerful online profile, altered your appearance completely or initiated a major life change. Uranus’ move into Taurus is about to rock your security levels as Taurus rules your money, possessions and what you build for the future. Who knows, you could decide to give everything away over the next seven years or perhaps you’ll be the whizz kid of crypto currencies who makes a fortune. One way or another, your finances are entering an unpredictable yet exciting phase.
Your sign is fixed earth and one thing you don’t like is change. Here comes Uranus, the planet of change, which at the very least is going to shake you out of a rut. Start by fixing your gaze firmly on the future and consider Uranus’ love of all things new and modern. It’s a wise idea to embrace change, whether this means you update your skills, tinker with technology or turn your life around. Uranus in Taurus challenges the status quo; it defies convention, brings out your inner rebel and makes you question a routine, settled way of life. Now’s the time to explore an unconventional life-style and flaunt what’s unique, different or unusual about you. If you end up at the forefront of new innovations over the next seven years, you’re in flow.
Uranus in Aries may have turned you into a political animal over the last seven years. Uranus has been in your group sector and you will have been discovering who your friends are and which of them are reliable and which are not. You may have changed allegiances or alliances more than once and you may still be unsure which way you swing. Uranus’ move into Taurus turns your attention inward rather than outward. If you’re expecting a revolution, it could come via the way you think, relax or tend to your soul. Embrace wierd and wonderful experiences, push back the boundaries of what’s possible and what you believe in. Your change is from the inside-out and, once you discover the new you, only then can you take what you’ve learned out into the world.
For the last seven years, the unpredictable planet Uranus has been in Aries and your career and vocation sector. Unless you’ve been making waves in a high-tech environment or you’ve enjoyed being a freelancer, the whole Uranus Aries game can be too unsettling for security-loving Cancer. You work best when you have a safe base to call your own and you can put down roots in order to make things grow. Uranus’ move into Taurus revolutionises your friendships, group connections and your place in wider society. Go online if you’re feeling lonely and connect with other people via the airwaves. Take up an unusual hobby and hang out with a unique, even mad set of friends. Encourage each other to be wild and don’t settle for a routine existence.
Uranus in Aries stimulated your travel and study zones. If you learned to sky-dive or speak an unusual language over the last seven years, you’ve been zapped by Uranus in Aries. For the next seven years, you’re on a new adventure but this time it’s serious. Uranus in Taurus triggers your career and future sector. It’s about your vocation in life, your status and reputation. You might be leading an online group or moving a business on to the internet. Change too is part of the Uranus in Taurus set up so don’t expect to be in the same job in seven years time as you are now. Instead, embrace the future and keep reinventing yourself. Being a Leo, you’re a natural boss but with Uranus in Taurus, you’re going to have to be unconventional, original and unique.
The money shenanigans of the last seven years are now behind you. Whether Uranus in Aries brought you highs or lows on the financial and security fronts, it’s time to line up your cash ducks and get yourself organised for the future. Uranus now enters your fellow earth sign Taurus, which is ideal for a big adventure, finding your backpack and seeing the world. Taurus rules the bigger picture in your horoscope, which includes study, learning, philosophy, spirituality. Basically, any activity that opens your eyes to new horizons. Stop worrying about doing the right thing and do the crazy thing, the mad thing, the once-in-a-lifetime thing. Find your fellow seekers in life and set off on a path that takes you out of your comfort zone and into the wide blue yonder.
For the last seven years, Uranus has been in your opposite sign Aries and your relationship sector. Sometimes, this coincides with a whirlwind romance. Othertimes, it spells the end of the road for love, often in an unexpected way. Close relationships, both personal and professional, will slowly start to stabilise once Uranus moves on. Taurus rules money in your chart, in particular monies that are shared with other people. This is about financial organisations, taxes, mortgages, debt and savings, inheritance. This is a good time to experiment with investments and make money via the internet or unusual means. It’s rarely a predictable transit, however, and your attitude to money, power, death and sex could change radically over the next seven years.
If you’ve been working freelance while Uranus was in Aries or taking an alternative approach to your health and lifestyle, you’ve been in tune with Uranus’ transit through your lifestyle sector. Uranus now moves on to oppose you in the zodiac as it enters your opposite sign of Taurus. Taurus rules your 1-to-1 relationships, both personal and professional. Uranus is the planet of splits but also falling head-over-heels in love. It’s likely that your current relationship status will change significantly over the next seven years. You might fall for someone who’s not your usual type or be willing to experiment with an unconventional love life. Watch out for cyber-enemies but also take note of people you can learn from, who propel you into the future at a fast rate.
Uranus in Aries made life fun (although admittedly it coincided with party-pooper Saturn in your star sign Sagittarius). Aries is a fellow fire sign and you may have made some bold moves around romance, children & pregnancy or your creative talents. Perhaps your life took an unexpected turn in one of these key areas. Uranus in Taurus is a different ball-game altogether as Uranus triggers changes at work or with regard to your health. If you’ve not worried too much about your well-being for some time, Uranus in Taurus might have you searching the internet for the latest health and fitness ideas. At work too, think alternative, whether you choose to go freelance or you use the internet to widen your success potential. Keep moving forward and revolutionise your lifestyle.
When you have Uranus hanging around the base of your horoscope, your home and family life are rarely steady and stable and often you experience a sense of being rootless. This is where Uranus has been stirring things up over the last seven years, in Aries and the part of your horoscope which rules your past, your ancestry and where you come from. If you’ve moved a lot, you’ll start to feel more settled. Uranus in Taurus aligns nicely with your Sun in Capricorn and is bringing spontaneity and excitement to all the good things in your life. Taurus rules romance, children & pregnancy, creative projects, entertainment and luck. Expect the unexpected, go with the flow, learn to play and do what makes you feel good rather than what you feel obliged to do.
Uranus in Aries brought out your inner spokesperson and increased your desire to speak up, fight the establishment and be a radical revolutionary. Uranus is, after all, one of your two ruling planets, so part of your nature is unpredictable and reactionary. Uranus’ move into Taurus means it’s probably not the time to stay put in one place or take on a long-term building project. This planetary/sign combination will increase your restlessness and, at times, you may find yourself contemplating what home really means to you. The size of your family could change dramatically, you may choose to move into a commune or book your place on a rocket that’s heading for outer space. Where home and family are concerned, do it your way and don’t let anyone limit your freedom.
Unpredictable planet Uranus is almost out of Aries and your personal money sector after an exceptional seven years. If your finances have been erratic; if you won big but then lost a fortune overnight, that’s Uranus in Aries for you. Alternatively, you might have become a crypto-currency expert. In your horoscope, Taurus rules communication, both the spoken and written word. It’s the ideal time to launch your blog, learn a new language, teach online. Your relationship with your siblings or your neighbours may be more erratic than usual or the neighbourhood watch scheme could take over your life. Community is paramount and finding where you belong and where you don’t is an ongoing journey. Not everyone will appreciate your Pisces’ wit and way of looking at the world.
Next week, the planet linked to innovation, technology and revolution, Uranus, enters earth sign Taurus. It moves in on May 15, 2018 where it remains until November 6, 2018. It then dips back into Aries for a few months until it takes up residence in Taurus from March 6, 2019 for the next seven years.
What can we expect from Uranus’ move into Taurus, the star sign linked to money, security, food, produce, nature, art and beauty? Admittedly, we’re already seeing some of the changes as is often the case with the slower-moving planets. You get advance notice of where change is imminent.
Money & banking
Money is one area of life that is going to be under Uranus’ revolutionary gaze. Crypto-currencies are an obvious symbol for Uranus (technology) in Taurus (money). Will paper money become a thing of the past, will there be a revolution in the banking world?
There are already tremors amongst long-established financial institutions and, as Taurus’ zodiac symbol, the Bull, is linked to the money markets, this is an obvious arena for change. Financial astrologers are starting to feel uneasy.
In the UK, Universal Credit is rolling in as a new system to make benefits simpler – supposedly. The harsh reality is that some people who need financial help the most are being left with a gap of six to eight weeks before the new system takes over from the old system. They are literally being left with nothing.
Uranus is a planet that’s often linked to highs and lows and it’s rarely a steady influence, which is the exact opposite of what Taurus represents. Taurus is fixed earth, slow-moving, plodding, in it for the long game, whereas Uranus wants success overnight, even if it means high stakes. If Uranus in Taurus is to prove symbolic, the next seven years are predicted to be a volatile time for the money markets. Some will win big, others will inevitably lose out.
Food & the earth
Uranus is the planet which splits things apart and you could guess that the divide between stratospheric wealth and poverty will only increase. Food banks are commonplace in the UK and, as the earth provides a great deal of our food, Uranus’ move into earth sign Taurus could highlight where there’s plenty and where there’s little.
Our earth, our world needs tending carefully and Uranus in Taurus will undoubtedly expose the damage of climate change and make it obvious what we need to do differently and urgently to take care of our world. Uranus is sometimes termed the ‘earth shaker’ and nature’s warning signs will only grow louder.
On a lighter note, depending how you view it, I googled recent first world problems and high up the list was ‘avocado anxiety’. Many of us are changing the way we eat and finding a ripe avocado isn’t always straightforward for your savvy & healthy shopper.
Uranus’ move into Taurus will revolutionise the way we produce food and bring new and more radical technologies to our consumer needs. Taurus is the farmer, after all.
Also, it would be nice to think that cleaning up our planet will become high priority over the next few years. We can’t go on filling up the land with plastic and other materials that are non-perishable. Sustainability must become mainstream if we’re to stop depleting the earth’s natural resources. Uranus in Taurus is going underground.
Another area that’s due a clean-up is technology. Uranus in Aries brought a rapid rise in technological development (see Part One) but Taurus favours security and online data is currently a red-hot topic. Another first world problem on the list was ‘finding free wi-fi’ and Uranus’ move into Taurus may limit what’s free and what’s not on the internet. Tighter restrictions are inevitable as Uranus in Taurus slows down Uranus in Aries’ rapid rate of growth.
Beauty & the body
Taurus is linked to fashion and the beauty industry, thanks to its ruler, Venus, the planet which represents women. Uranus in Taurus will no doubt add to what Jupiter in Scorpio has started with the #metoo movement. Uranus, at its best, represents equality and universal rights.
Although, having recently read an article about sex robots, maybe not all the technological advancements while Uranus is in Taurus will be favourable. It certainly made me go ‘eeugh’. Nothing beats a hug with a real human being, even if techy Uranus tries to persuade you otherwise.
Accommodation & Extra-terrestrials
Taurus is the Builder and alternative housing or community projects could and should take off while Uranus is in Taurus. The world population is expanding at a swift rate and inevitably we’ll need to look at ways of sharing our living space so there’s room for all.
You could also predict that where we live will expand to other planets as Uranus is the opposite of normal and conventional. For the truly wealthy, space travel and ‘space cruises’ are a dream within reaching grasp. There could be more evidence of alien life and ‘extra-terrestrials’, a word which encapsulates Uranus in Taurus.
The Great Exhibition – London 1851
Looking back at previous times when Uranus moved into Taurus, one major event stood out. On April 16, 1851, Uranus entered Taurus and two weeks later, on May 1, 1851, there was a New Moon in Taurus.
This is similar to current astrology, although on May 15, 2018, the New Moon in Taurus takes place on the exact same day as Uranus enters Taurus.
May 1, 1851 was the day when the Great Exhibition began in London and it was housed at Crystal Palace. The brain-child of Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, the exhibition was created to display the wonders of industry around the world.
The Great Exhibition showcased manufactured products, modern conveniences and was influential in art and design and international trade. This was during the birth of industrialism and a developing understanding of the natural world.
Hopefully, this can prove to be a shining example while Uranus moves through Taurus over the next seven years. At its best, Uranus’ technological brilliance will bring innovation and new manufacturing to revolutionise and beautify our world.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of Uranus in Taurus symbolism. I’m sure you too will have ideas for how Uranus’ move into Taurus will coincide with life on earth. Please leave your thoughts below if you have something new to add to the list or you want to comment on any of the ideas above.
Part Three is coming tomorrow and will include horoscopes for all 12 star signs on what Uranus’ move into Taurus could mean for you.
I’m planning to blog a lot over the next few days as we are moving into a transitional period which brings the theme of change. Primarily, this is due to Uranus, the awakener, the earth shaker, moving into a new star sign for the first time in seven years on May 15, 2018.
Before writing about Uranus’ move into Taurus, I wanted to take a brief look back at the last seven years while Uranus was in Aries. This article is Part One of a three part series about this major astrological event. Part Two will talk about Uranus in Taurus and Part Three will be about what you can expect from Uranus in Taurus depending on your star sign.
Uranus in Aries – The Protester
Uranus entered Aries on May 28, 2010, stayed for a few months until August 14, 2010 and on March 12, 2011 it moved in for a seven year residence.
Uranus is the planet linked to revolution, social advancement and the modern world. Uranus is a good fit in Aries, the sign of the individual, the warrior.
Uranus in Aries symbolises the activist and the person of the year in Time magazine 2011 was The Protester. Technology too has played its part in rousing people and inspiring action and Uranus is the technological planet.
Uranus’ move into Aries went hand-in-hand with Pluto’s move into Capricorn, the sign of big business, government, corporations three years earlier. These two planets clashed an exceptional seven times from June 2012 to March 2015 and it’s hard to think of one without the other. Pluto breaks things down and its move into Capricorn in 2008 coincided with a global recession. Uranus in Aries was the rebel yell, the collective spirit that demanded change.
On a personal level, Pluto swept across my Capricorn Midheaven in 2008 and I lost two big astrology media contracts one after the other, a total wipe out. As Uranus moved closer to my Aries Ascendant in 2011, it became evident that a complete change of direction was needed and that’s when my astrology website was born. Things could not remain the same with the Uranus-Pluto square, neither personally nor out in the world: ‘out with the old, in with the new’.
Uranus in Aries – The Selfie Generation
Technology has taken off at a fast rate over the last seven years, another showing of Uranus (technology) in Aries (speed). In fact, this has been the era of the ‘selfie’ and social media has gone wild. Aries rules the head and the ‘head-shot’ has dominated the internet.
A lot of the social media sites even sound like Uranus’ move into Aries: Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram. My daughter would tell me about a photo or meme (‘me me’ – more Aries) on Snapchat that only remained visible for seconds. One minute it was there, the next it was gone.
The younger generation are glued to their phones and you can’t go to a beauty spot or a significant event without being surrounded by people taking pictures, cataloguing the event.
I went to one concert where the woman in front of me spent the whole time recording it on her phone. She didn’t experience the event fully, instead viewed it through the screen of technology.
There has been a backlash to this; friends of mine who no longer take photos and put away their phones so their experience isn’t via technology but real life. As Uranus leaves Aries, people may make more of an effort to connect and socialise in person rather than online or the phone. Also, it’s no surprise that privacy laws are now kicking in on the internet as Uranus prepares to move on from the sign of speed and instant gratification, Aries.
It’s awseome being able to work with clients globally via the wonders of technology but the internet has spread at such a rate, that it’s been open to abuse. Internet trolls fit the Uranus Aries symbolism and the data mining companies sold our personal information for suspect use. The clean up begins.
Tomorrow, I’ll be writing about Uranus’ move into Taurus and what this might mean for all of us and the world we live in. My lasting impressions of Uranus in Aries this time around will be the image of the protestor and the selfie revolution.
No doubt you have your own ideas and thoughts about what Uranus in Aries brought into your life and the world, both positive and negative. If you wish to leave any comments on this, please do so below. Tomorrow: Part Two: Uranus Enters Taurus.
This month’s astrology peaks for you on the 25th when there’s a major planetary aspect linking your two ruling planets, Jupiter and Neptune. These are the boundless planets in astrology and, with Jupiter in water sign Scorpio and Neptune in your star sign Pisces, this is an emotional combination, in a good way.
Seek out inspiration towards the end of the month and focus on the bigger picture of life. Jupiter in Scorpio wants you to travel, learn, explore, be inspired and the more you expand your horizons, the more you receive in return.
These two planets are connecting throughout the year. They first met on December 3, 2017 and come together once more on August 19, 2018. This is a visionary, blissful, charitable combination and the more you tap into its cosmic vibe, the more you benefit.
As the month begins, however, you’re back to dealing with more mundane matters as there’s some key planetary activity taking place in Aries and your money sector. Firstly, communication planet Mercury remains in Aries and it’s making one final dash through this part of your horoscope.
Mercury leaves Aries on the 13th but before then it’s clearing up unfinished business in an urgent and busy manner. This might be monies owed or an issue with finances that stems back to events mid-March. Mercury in Aries wants action and wants it now.
There is still some opposition, however, as Mercury runs into Pluto on the 7th and Mars on the 12th, both planets in Capricorn. Capricorn rules your friends and group sector but it’s also about your hopes and wishes for the future.
You might be up against an unstoppable force or perhaps you realise that it’s time to cut ties and move on. Notice what happens on or close to the 13th when Mercury unites with Uranus in Aries for the last time in a long time. This combination is impulsive, quick-thinking and can light a spark. If acting fast can sort out an ongoing money issue, this is when to leap in.
Plus, big planet Uranus makes an epic move this month as it changes star signs on the 15th. Uranus remains seven years in one sign and, since 2011, Uranus has been in Aries and your personal money sector. This is often an unpredictable transit. Usually it means that your finances are up and down rather than stable. There can be big wins, but potentially losses too.
You may recognise that your values have changed profoundly over the last seven years and what was once important to you no longer matters. Uranus will be back in Aries for a short period from November 2018 to March 2019 but then it will be gone for another eighty-four years.
What takes place mid-May is likely to be significant and eventful with regard to money. Certainly, it’s a time when you need to shift your attitude or your way of doing things. You may decide to move away from a freelance work style to something more steady and secure. Perhaps you want to be closer to home and not be dashing about quite so much.
Uranus moves into Taurus on the 15th, the day of a stunning New Moon in Taurus, a symbol of new beginnings. Taurus rules your ideas and communication sector so pay attention to your thoughts and conversations during this mid-month period.
This is about the written and spoken word and Taurus rules your neighbourhood, your local community and life close to home. You may want to play a more activist role or take the lead and help out others in some way. Taurus rules your siblings and neighbours as well.
Sometimes, when Uranus is active, external events step in and lead you in a new direction. You have to take action, ready or not. This also coincides with another important planetary shift because, the following day on the 16th, action planet Mars changes star sign.
Mars moves into Aquarius and the most hidden sector of your horoscope where it remains for the majority of the next six months. Aquarius is the sign linked to the collective and Uranus is Aquarius’ co-ruler. Notice what bubbles up in your life and where you feel compelled to speak out.
Ideally, wait a few days, however, before you leap into action. This is because Mars and Uranus clash on the 16th and this is a volatile, impulsive combination. Acting out of anger could have consequences so don’t take undue risks. If you’re feeling incensed, calm down and think things through carefully.
This may be connected to your home and family, your past in some way because there’s a strong emphasis on the star sign Gemini through May. The planet of love and relating, Venus, is here until the 19th and the Sun enters Gemini on the 21st.
There may be a lot going on for someone close to you and, if you’re a typical Pisces, you want to do what you can in order to help. Your rulers Jupiter and Neptune are in action on the 6th, 9th and 23rd so you are being called forth to inspire others, give support and honour caring and close connections.
The 24th may be a key date in this respect when the Sun and Mars align. This has a go-getting vibe to it and it’s an excellent date to make constructive plans with regard to your home and family and past ties. The Full Moon too highlights the foundations of your horoscope on the 29th, another positive date for making big decisions which not only impact on you and your future but your home and family as well.
Finally, love kicks in after the 19th when love planet Venus moves into Cancer and your romance sector. Enjoy being with the ones you love and create new loving connections if you’re looking for love.
Saturn does oppose Venus on the 26th, a date that could bring a romantic disappointment. It’s not a good date to mix love and friendship, but don’t allow friends to influence you overly either. If you don’t want their advice about romance, don’t ask for it.
It’s action stations as soon as May begins. Your ruling planet Mars remains in Capricorn until the 16th, the star sign which rules your career and vocation, your status and reputation. This is the time to have your eye on the future and take courageous big steps forward.
Know which mountain you’re ready to climb and put one foot in front of the other doggedly and determinedly. This is not the time to retreat or turn around. Instead, fortune favours the brave and your destiny is onwards and upwards.
This is also due to the fact that communication planet Mercury is in your star sign Aries until the 13th. A few days in to May and Mercury moves out of its shadow phase, i.e. you might be able to finalise a plan or project you were working on mid-March.
There’s a theme of second chances when Mercury retraces its steps through the zodiac and, like Mars, Mercury is eager to get moving. Mercury in Aries is direct and honest and wants everything to happen now.
You do have a few obstacles in your path, however, and tempers may flare in the first half of the month. Mercury clashes with Pluto on the 7th and your ruler Mars on the 12th. You’re unlikely to stay calm if someone’s out to stop you or your boss or a figure of authority attempts to lay down the law. You’re fired up and won’t take No for an answer.
The mid-month period is incredible and the astrology taking place is unique and dramatic. The major backdrop hinges on the planet of change, Uranus, which has been in your star sign Aries since 2011. If you’ve experienced seven years of change or you’ve currently reached a seven year itch in your job, relationship or other key area of life, Uranus’ influence may be involved.
Notice where you’re feeling restless or want to implement change in your own life, particularly on or around the 13th when Mercury and Uranus unite in Aries. This combination feels impulsive and you may want to speak up regardless of the consequences.
What happens on the 15th and 16th feels like a major shift, a new dawn awakening, a completely new set of values. This is because of three major factors all involved together. Firstly, there’s a New Moon in Taurus and your money and value sector on the 15th.
On its own, this is a symbol of a fresh start and offers a chance to set new money goals or intentions. Only a few hours after the New Moon, innovative and unpredictable planet, Uranus, also enters Taurus, for the first time in eighty-four years.
Uranus rules technology and all things modern and Taurus is your money sector, linked to your personal values, your possessions and security. This combination could bring in something new and exciting to your life, linked to money, wealth or abundance. You might win a fortune or become a crypto-currency whizz kid.
Or perhaps you find yourself awakening to new possibilities around money and security and realise that you’ve allowed yourself to be held back or restricted. Uranus is the planet linked to freedom and independent moves. Whatever happens, it could bring a shift in your values or a major change with regard to what you own or earn.
On the 16th, the following day, your planet Mars is also on the move when it enters Aquarius, the star sign that’s co-ruled by Uranus. Aquarius rules your friends and group activities, wider society, politics and the collective. You might be riding your white charger, keen to play your part within society, to help others and bring values such as equality and fairness into the world.
However, Mars immediately clashes with Uranus on the 16th and this is a combination that you need to be careful of. It’s volatile and impulsive so don’t leap from the frying pan into the fire or take unnecessary risks. Mars rules anger and passion and Uranus lights the flame. You might feel fired up and ready for action but there are better dates to leap in blindly than the 16th.
Instead, think things through as the Sun’s move into Gemini on the 21st facilitates your mind, ideas and strategies. Gemini rules your communication sector, brilliant for brain-storming, marketing, getting your message across and meeting new people, finding your allies.
Plus, the Sun links up with your ruler Mars on the 24th in a positive planetary aspect. This is the date when your moves have integrity and combining forces with other people works in your favour. Together you’re stronger.
Before this, however, there’s another possibility and this might be linked to your home and family. Love planet Venus moves into Cancer and your home and family sector on the 19th and immediately connects with Uranus in Taurus in a helpful manner. This is where you can make a sound move financially, whether it’s to do with property, a family business, working from home or investing in your home and family in some way.
In a relationship, you might be keen to do your thing while your other half holds the fort. Certainly this month, you need to start being innovative and progressive with regard to money and your future security.
Note too that big planet Jupiter is currently in Scorpio and your joint finance sector. On the 25th, Jupiter connects with Neptune in Pisces and this whole combination feels charitable and giving. Trust in life and be faithful that good actions will be rewarded. Build up your karma.
The Full Moon on the 29th brings the month to a close and, by then, you may have your gaze set on distant horizons. This Full Moon lights up the travel and study sectors of your horoscope. It feels optimistic and, once again, it gives a nod to a month when you can’t stay stuck or rooted. Change is coming, ready or not.
