Valid
by Lauren BlakelyThis book is a standalone second chance romance.Audio Book Narrated by Joe Arden (Narrator), Erin Mallon

I didn't break her heart, and she didn't break mine - we broke each other's.

I never stopped loving her, but time and distance played its cruel role in ripping us apart three years ago when she moved halfway around the world. Now after all those endless miles away, she's returned...but I'm not the guy I was before.

Beautiful, kind, and loving, she's the same - my hope. The only one who can make a day better, who can make me feel again with one kiss, one touch, one night.

There's so much I have to put back in place now that I’m alone and on my own. Things I never wanted at the age of 25. When I receive an unexpected letter that might hold the clues to everything I desperately need to understand about my family, I'm sure I have to follow it. But that means leaving her once more.

She says she'll come with me, and having her by my side will unbreak my heart...or destroy it.

That's the chance I have to take.

Synopsis:

Andrew Peterson has recently graduated law school and is poised to follow in the footsteps of his father and brother in successful law careers. Before he can get on with the life that was set out before him, Andrew must come to grips with his past and learn to live without the girl he’s always loved.

Holland St. James has made a home in Tokyo. Her ex-pat parents live close by, this is where she went to nursing school, and now she has a the perfect job offer in the place she calls home. Now she has to choose between the life she’s alway imagined and man she’s always been in love with.

Andrew and Holland have been family friends for years. The summer after high school they became something more. But, as it often does, life got in the way of the two of them becoming a couple. The stars have aligned and once again they are in the same place at the same time. As much as they both want to be together, proximity isn’t the only thing keeping them apart.

April’s Review:

This book is a real departure from what I have come to expect from Blakely. It’s not light hearted jokes about penis size, or couples getting caught in the act. This story is emotional and heart breaking. It’s also full of hope and lessons for how to heal your heart and move on when life happens.

I had a difficult time with story. I thankfully haven’t experienced the kind of loss in this story. There are no long lost loves from my past that could return with the hope of a love filled future. But, it is a beautiful story about the beauty of everyday life and the love that is all around us if we only just stop to notice.

Audiobook Review:

Joe Arden and Erin Mallen true professionals and some of my favorite narrators. However, this book is different than most in the genre. There are part of this story that are difficult to hear because they are so raw with emotion. Arden and Mallen do such a wonderful job of bringing this story and its characters to life, it's sometimes difficult to tell if they are only just acting.

by Lauren BlakelyThis is the sixth book in a series of standalone stories with interconnected characters.Audio Book Narrated by Shane East & Grace Grant

I’ll say this about Christian — he made one hell of a first impression. When I first saw the strapping man, he was doing handstands naked on a dock along the canal. His crown jewels were far more entertaining than anything else I’d seen on the boat tour, so I did what any curious woman would do — I took his photo. I might have looked at the shot a few dozen times. Little did I know I’d meet him again, a year later, at a secret garden bar in the heart of the city, where I’d learn that his mind and his mouth were even more captivating. But given the way my heart had been trampled, I wanted only a simple deal — No strings. No expectations.

Our arrangement worked well enough until the day I needed a lot more from him…

Let me just say, this whole part-time lover thing was her idea. I’d have gone all-in from the start, but hey, when a gorgeous, brilliant woman invites you into her bed, and only her bed…well, I said yes.

But then, one hysterical phone call from my brother later, begging me to find myself a wife so grandfather’s business stays in the family, and I need a promotion with Elise. Turns out a full-time husband suits her needs too, and a temporary marriage of convenience ought to do the trick, until we can simply untie the knot…

As long as no one finds out…

As long as no one gets hurt…

As long as no one falls in love…

But our ending was one I never saw coming.

Amazon | Goodreads

Synopsis:

Elise is recovering from heartbreak. She’s really been through the ringer, and it leaked every part of her life. She even lost business over it. This once passionate and scent-sual woman is now stifled and closed off.

Christian is Mr. carefree and casual. He’s conquered the business world and is happily retired into the life of leisure.

Christian and Elise are a case of serendipity. Their first encounter is while Christian does naked handstands on a dare. They schedule a time to meet, but are thrown off course going to different places with similar names. A year later they are reconnected when their friends start dating. Things elevate quickly when marriage is the only way to save Christian’s family legacy.

April’s Review:

Blakely has demonstrated once again why she deserves to be an automatic one click author. Her stories are fun and flirty and the perfect escape. I can’t wait until they start getting optioned!

Christian and Elise are fun characters that are easy to fall in love with, a trait Blakely is top notch at achieving. I do think that Christian is a little too perfect. He is fit, smart, multilingual, and emotionally evolved. He needs just a little bit of tarnish, maybe if he had an issue with snoring or something...

Audiobook Review:

Hopefully more autobooks will follow Part-Time Lover in this duel narration with a hint of dramatization. The narrators perform the chapters written in the point of view of their perspective character. However, the text message conversations are fully dramatized. It’s so much more fun to hear the conversation back and forth.

I love both narrators, Shane East and Grace Grant. They have both brought to life some of my favorite stories. But, who can resist Shane East and that accent?!?! It’s like sex to my ears.

Why did we choose this book:

When Kelly from Ink Slinger PR messages you to listen to the new LB Audiobook there is only one thing to say...Sure. It wasn’t a hardship. I love Lauren Blakely and loved Wonderlust so I knew I was in for a treat.

Who should read this book:

If you’re looking for a fun and sweet love story with steamy sex scenes, you should read this book. It’s really great if you’re not into over the top angst.

This is book 8 in the King series with interlocking characters, and can be read as a standalone

 I’m a man without a conscience.

I deal in murder and mayhem.

I’m the best at what I do.

Frankie Helburn is supposed to be an easy job.

A means to flush her father out of hiding.

Simple.

Except there isn’t anything simple about Frankie or the secrets she’s keeping.

She’s stubborn as hell and the sexiest god damn thing I have ever seen, sending dark, dirty animalistic desire coursing through my veins.

She’s cocaine with legs. A f*cking addiction that makes me question things I’ve never questioned before. Want things I’ve never wanted before.

I might have her, but she isn’t mine to keep.

If her father doesn’t show his face, she will be mine.

To KILL

Aracely’s Review

T.M Frazier has blown me away yet again. We have seen Smoke throughout the King series and have seen glimpse of the ruthless killer. Even though Rage doesn’t blame him for what happen he still feels guilty.

When Smoke and Frankie come together it’s like nothing else. Both broken, both alone, both damaged. Yet somehow they work. They find love within the darkness.

It should have been a simple play…

She needed a football player to step up and be the star for a charity calendar. I needed a sharp and savvy publicist to manage a brand-new sponsorship deal. I scratched her back. She scratched mine. And oh hell, did Jillian ever drag her nails down my back on one hell of a hot night. Okay fine, it was several hot nights on the road.

Now we’re back in town and it’s time to set the play clock back to when we were simply player and publicist. Given the way the last few years have gone, I can’t risk this deal, so it's hands off for us once again. Trouble is, I want more than than just another night with her.

What’s a guy to do when he's always been most likely to score, but the woman he’s falling for is just out of bounds?

I don't date players.
And I definitely don't sleep with players.
And I absolutely don't fall for a certain player when I get to know him and learn he's more than just sexy -- he's clever, funny and has a heart as big as his . .. well, you get my drift.

But my job is at stake, and I can't afford to lose that as well as my heart. The problem is, I think I've already lost that game.

What's a girl to do when the clock is running out, but the man she's falling for is off limits?

Read an Excerpt:

~JONES~

“Love it,” Christine says emphatically, her lips and that metal hoop in the bottom one the only parts of her face visible since the lens covers the rest. “How about a little tough-guy look now?”

Because tough guys hold footballs in front of their junk.

“This is my best badass pose,” I say, narrowing my eyes and staring at the camera like I’d stare at the secondary of the Miami Mavericks.

“Oh yes, more of that, right, Jillian?” Christine shouts to the other person here in the studio with us.

That person is Jillian, and she hasn’t looked my way since I strolled in here and dropped my drawers. Damn shame.

From her spot leaning against the far wall, the team publicist answers in a crisp, professional tone I know well. “Exactly. We love his tough-guy face.”

She doesn’t even look up from her phone.

I keep working it for Christine, doing my best to make sure my blue eyes will melt whoever is looking at the picture when the magazine hits newsstands and Internet browsers in another few weeks.

It’s an evergreen kind of issue, since the body edition is one of the most popular. Gee, I wonder why. I’ve no doubt this shot of me with a football for my skivvies will quickly surpass the previous most-searched-for image of yours truly—the game-winning catch I made in the end zone in the Super Bowl two years ago.

But, to be fair, there’s another shot of me that’s searched for maybe a tiny bit more. I like to pretend that shot doesn’t exist.

“The camera loves you,” Christine croons as the snap, snap, snap of the lens keeps the rhythm.

“The feeling is entirely mutual,” I say, pursing my lips in an over-the-top kiss.

Christine laughs. “You are my favorite ham in all of sports, Jones. That’ll be a perfect outtake for our website.”

“That’s a brilliant idea,” Jillian chimes in. “Make sure to send me a copy for social, please.”

“Absolutely,” Christine answers.

I sneak a peek at the dark-haired woman by the wall, that silky curtain of sleekness framing her face as she smiles a bright, buoyant, outgoing grin at the photographer then drops her head back down.

Damn.

Jillian Moore is one tough nut to crack.

I’m nearly naked in front of her, and she hasn’t once looked my way.

As the woman behind the lens shoots another photo with my favorite ball covering my favorite balls, Jillian doesn’t even spare another glance.

I’m going to need a whole new playbook to get this woman’s attention.

~Jillian~

He runs his hand through his hair, flashing a lopsided grin then a wink. “Sorry. I meant are you my personal PR person now?”

That word zips through me like an electric charge. A light gust of wind blows my hair across my cheeks, and I tuck the strands behind my ear, grateful for the temporary distraction courtesy of San Francisco’s windy morning. I shiver lightly from the chill. “Yes, that seems to be the case, and I’m happy to do it.”

He cocks his head to the side. “Are you like my babysitter?”

My jaw drops. “What? No. No. No. That’s ridiculous. I’m not a babysitter.”

He arches a brow. “A nanny?”

I smirk. “Jones, I would hope you’ve outgrown the need for a nanny.”

“That’s up for debate, it seems. But maybe you’re my governess?”

I roll my eyes and gesture to the car at the curb. “I’m not your nanny, I’m not your babysitter, and I’m definitely not your governess. I’m here to help you create the best image possible. I can market, publicize, and help you manage putting the best foot forward,” I say, my tone earnest, my meaning important. “I believe in what I do. I know you’re a great guy, and I want the world to see what I’ve seen in the last couple days.”

“Yeah?”

“That’s why I said yes when Ford asked for my help. I’m not interested in being anyone’s au pair. I am very interested, though, in showing this city what good things our team does on and off the field. Including you.” I take a breath and try to read him. To understand what’s beneath the teasing. I think I know what it is. He wants a choice. “But if you don’t want me to help out, I’ll step back and we can stick to just the calendar. I told Ford I’d do this for your new deal, because I want to be the one to help you if you need it, and it’s the kind of help I can give. Since you signed the contract yesterday, and the folks at Paleo Pet are local, they want to stop by the shoot later today. Take some pictures, chat, and so on. I’m happy to be there by your side the whole time, making sure you’re comfortable with everything, and you’re represented in the best way possible. But if those aren’t your wishes, and if it isn’t what you need, then I’ll be hands-off. I hold up my palms as if I’m backing away.

In a heartbeat, he grabs my wrists. Possessively. A thrill rushes through me, like a drumbeat pulsing in my veins. I look away from him briefly. I can’t make eye contact when he does this, when he touches me. If I do, he’ll know. He’ll realize I’m just like all the other women who fling panties at him, who chase him down in bars, who line up at the players’ entrance to become his football floozy for the night. I won’t ever be someone’s football floozy, and I can’t let him see for a second that I want some of the same things those other women want from him. Him.

“Don’t be hands-off,” he says, his voice soft.

April’s Book Review:

There is a common misconception that romance novels are full of sex and lack substance...well they do have sex and thank amen to that. This book is a great example to prove this line of thought wrong. This story definitely has romance and plenty of steamy hot sex. But, it is also a murder mystery. This isn’t just a story about a billionaire impressing a young virgin with his money before he takes her to bed (fyi...I like those kinds of stories too). This is a well thought out and researched story.

I really enjoyed this book. I love the close group of friends and their stories of growing up and their inside jokes (I hope I get to find out why they call Zack Scooter).

Usually I prefer first person narratives. But, Black and Blake did a great job of limiting the omnipotent narrator.

April’s Audiobook review:

This is the first story I’ve listened to narrated by Kaleo Griffith. He has a great voice. This story is told in the third person so it works only having a single narrator. His female voices are super cute. I’ll definitely be continuing the story. I look forward to listening to him again in another universe.

Why did we choose this book:

I chose this book after reading the Doms of Her Life Series by Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob and Isabella LaPearl. I was only expecting a BDSM story, which it was. But, it was also more. I was surprised by the emotion and the very serious life topics. I finished one of the books in that series right around the time when Scandal Never Sleeps was announced and knew I would be intrigued.

Who should read this book:

If you’re looking for a good story that will “keep you on the edge of your seat” and love a good steamy sex scene, this is an amazing book. FYI...bet you can’t stop at just one.

Book Two:

This is a stand alone story.

My son is my life. Nothing on earth matters but him.

Soon, I’ll have to send him out into society. The cruel machine that gnashes innocence and spits out the hollowed remains of a child’s imagination. It’s a place I know all too well, considering my past. I’ve worked hard to separate myself from it, but it looms in the back of my mind—waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

My son, Logan, wants to have birthday parties, make friends, play at the park—all the normal things that seven-year olds want to do. All the things I want to do with him.

I’ve put up walls around our life to shield us from danger. Giant barriers to ward off possible threats.

Cora Chapman crashes through them like a wrecking ball. She’s intelligent and hilarious with soft curves and a spark that ignites a flame deep inside of me.

There’s only one problem—she’s Logan’s teacher.

When my past wraps its tentacles around my throat and threatens to strangle the breath from my lungs, I’m given an option—fight for my family’s freedom, or die as they’re stripped away from me.

I can’t lose. I won’t lose.

My name is Landon Lane and I am a warrior.

Read a review of Bad Dad by Sloane Howell.

Excerpt:

The door at the entrance to the school, down at the end of the hallway, slammed shut like a shotgun had fired. I jolted and tried to catch my breath. Logan grinned a little wider, which still wasn’t much.

“This place is so loud.” I inhaled a deep breath and brushed off my own embarrassment. Anything was worth it to set him at ease a little.

Footsteps pounded in my ears as whoever came through the door approached in a hurry.

Logan’s head tilted up and he leaped from his seat. I barely leaned out of his way in time. He took off in a dead sprint. My head craned around to the man’s shoes first—ordinary Nike cross trainers. Nothing special.

But the way they traversed the ground—Montague soles pounded the Capulet tiles.

My gaze roamed to the jeans—Levi’s, boot-cut, regular denim, frayed at the seams—worked in and worn.

Damn.

My stare tilted up and drank the scenery. A charcoal-gray hood dipped down and cast a shadow over his eyes.

A breath cut too short and some sound I’d never made in my life escaped my lungs and dissolved into the tension saturating the room.

Logan’s father (I assumed) dropped to a knee, and Logan sprinted straight into his massive arms. His hoodie remained pulled up over his head. It’d probably been to shield him from the rain outside. I’d never seen Logan move so fast. He disappeared into the giant thunderhead biceps that engulfed him in a hug.

“I didn’t do anything wrong.” Logan sobbed into the man’s shoulder.

A giant hand wrapped around the back of his head and pulled him in tight. The hood dipped down and nuzzled up next to his cheek then turned and whispered in his ear.

I stood up about twenty feet away and noticed myself leaning toward them, trying to get a better view or hear what was said. I’d only met an older woman named Janet who usually brought Logan to and from school. She rarely spoke to anyone, but she was always polite.

“How long are they going to make us wait in here? Jesus Christ!” Charles Hastings’ voice roared once again from the office. Principal Williams was still nowhere to be found.

The hood-covered head popped up and turned in the direction of the words, but I still couldn’t make out his eyes.

God, what I would have given for a peek at his face.

The dark shadow under the hood turned to me. My heart threatened to explode out of my chest and my lungs stopped functioning. I still couldn’t see his eyes, couldn’t see his stare. Somehow, he managed to make my palms sweat. My palms never sweat.

Why’s he staring at me?

“Fucking ridiculous!”

My head whipped to the door.

Hastings.

I inhaled a deep breath and stomped toward the office. I’d learned long ago that if I didn’t set a certain tone with unruly parents they’d walk all over me.

Throwing the door open, I glared at the short balding man of maybe fifty. “It will be a few more minutes. Watch your language, please. This is a school. Not your living room.”

I slammed the door shut before he could get out another word.

Where the hell is Principal Williams?

I wasn’t one to shirk duties or get out of responsibility, but I really could use some back up. Parents had fought over pettier things than the words Hastings was slinging left and right, in front of his son no less. Maybe if I’d been at this school longer I’d have a better idea of how they handled these situations.

I froze in front of the door for a quick second and schooled my features. Could I go back out and face the enigma comforting his son in the hall? I had to. It was my job.

I walked back out to make sure Logan was okay, each step with a pair of concrete bricks attached to my feet.

“My son didn’t hit that little shit out there! We shouldn’t even be here!”

I paused and gritted my teeth. The moment now took a firm seat at the top of the podium as the number one awkward situation of my career, and I’d taught at a low-income New York City elementary school.

Jesus.

Other teachers had warned me about Hastings. The general consensus was that the guy was a raging jerk with little-man syndrome. I had no choice but to concur.

The man in the hood squeezed Logan once more into a bear hug, seemed to whisper something else, and then released him.

Hastings railed off even more expletives and threats from the office.

Logan’s father didn’t take off his hood, just advanced straight toward me. Logan stood in the hallway behind him.

He was not a small man by any means. The closer he came, the tighter my stomach twisted into a knot. The walls closed in on me and the thunder seemed to rumble with each of his footsteps. I gulped when he was about five feet away.

His shoes squeaked against the tile when he stopped and crossed his arms over his chest. It stretched the fabric across his shoulders and I realized just how large he was. It was one hundred percent muscle. I tried to keep my thighs from squeezing together and nearly failed.

Compose yourself.

My father named me Courage—even though I went by Cora—when I was born, but I was not living up to it at that moment.

I stretched out a hand toward him. “Hi, I’m sorry we’re meeting under these circumstances. I’m Cora—”

I barely made out two eyes in the shadow of his hood. He sized me up and down, and gestured like he might actually reach out for my hand. Hastings belted out more empty threats from inside the office. The hood turned in that direction and left my hand abandoned mid-air.

I’d never had trouble speaking in front of a parent before, but something about Logan’s dad was just—I didn’t know what it was, to be honest—scary, exciting, mysterious.

I lowered my hand to my side. My mouth was drier than the Sahara. “I, umm, there was an incident, on the playground.”

I tried to keep my voice down. If Hastings knew Logan’s father had shown up there was no telling what might happen. Looking at the man in front of me, it wouldn’t be much of a fight, and I was definitely in no position to stop him if things escalated beyond a discussion.

My eyes strayed to the Levi’s again for a split-second before I caught myself. I had certainly missed Montana men and their jeans. Some might’ve called it a weakness of mine.

He turned back to me, slowly. I watched every move. He took in every piece of information the scene had to offer and actually listened before speaking. People didn’t do that anymore, and I silently appreciated it.

“What happened?” His baritone voice vibrated through me like the encroaching thunder outside.

I stood there, blood pounding through my veins, heart racing down a quarter mile track with no parachute or brakes. His voice demanded an answer, but it didn’t seem coercive. There was a hint of concern laced in it.

“Logan didn’t do anything wrong. Like I said before, there was an incident. We just called both—”

The sound of a chair shuffling and footsteps from the office cut me off. I froze. Hastings must’ve heard me talking.

A tingling sensation radiated through my limbs and goosebumps pebbled down my arms. I had to force a slight smile from my face and mashed my lips into a thin line.

Logan’s father took a few commanding steps toward the door and made sure he’d be the first thing Hastings would see. He put himself right between us and his shoulders were so broad I couldn’t see around him. My thighs tried to squeeze together again. I cursed them silently and stepped out to the side so I could at least see Hastings’ face.

“I’m not waiting for this bullshit any—” The door to Williams’ office burst open. Hastings froze right along with his sentence when he saw Logan’s dad.

His voice went down an octave, barely noticeable. His chest deflated a little too and he tried to recover. “You the dad of the little shit making up stories about my kid?” His words were shaky, and he nodded up the hall toward Logan.

Uh oh.

The hood turned to Logan and looked right through me. “Wait in the car.”

I glanced back. Logan didn’t dare question him. Hell, I don’t think anyone would’ve. I nearly took a step toward the parking lot and caught myself. Logan turned on a dime and took off.

I wasn’t about to stand by and let a dick measuring contest happen on my watch. Both of my hands found my hips and I side-stepped farther so that Hastings could see more than just my face. “Mr. Hastings, get back in the office. Now!”

He ignored me, as expected. I wasn’t a threat to him. The ballsy bastard took a couple of steps toward Logan’s dad until he was a few feet away from him.

Where is Williams? Probably peeking around a corner somewhere, watching.

“Mister Hastings, that is enough.” I started toward him.

Hastings sneered at Logan as he walked toward the door, then he turned to me and his chest puffed out a little more. “You fucking people have—”

Where the hell are you, Williams? Help!

A single finger.

I stopped in my tracks.

He held it up. The man in the hood.

One powerful index finger in the air.

It was just a finger.

That index finger stole the words from Hastings’ mouth and the breath from my lungs.

One gorgeous, forceful finger commanded everything in the room and even the storm outside seemed to shut the hell up.

His left hand balled into a fist at his side.

And we’ve now reached the ‘Oh shit’ portion of the night’s show.

Complete silence fell on the school.

I swear I couldn’t have made it up if I tried. The door closed behind Logan and he walked to the car. Lightning cracked overhead, and the immediate thunder seemed to pick up the building and shake it at the same time the man in the hood dropped his finger.

I shuddered. Freaking thunderstorms.

Logan’s father closed the small gap between him and Hastings. Hastings’ eyes widened like saucers, then his brows narrowed into a V.

Then he did possibly the dumbest thing I’d ever seen a man do. He poked Goliath in the chest. “Listen here—”

The hood tilted down to the finger, and then back up to Hastings’ face. Hastings tried to look tough, but his face was pale as a ghost, and sweat beads formed along his hairline.

The hood glared lasers at Hastings. “Don’t touch me.”

Hastings’ hand dropped like it might fall through the floor.

“D-dad?” Cory Hastings eased open the office door.

The hood shot to Cory for a quick second. He glanced at Hastings and then back to me and then back to Cory. His voice softened a hint while he looked at the boy. “Sorry.”

He turned and headed toward the exit, but stopped at my side. He looked straight ahead. Straight where his son sat in the car, waiting. “Logan won’t be back.” He paced down the hallway.

I turned and watched him leave. I stood there, mouth wide open, catatonic, brain short circuiting all over the place. Logan’s father disappeared through the double doors, and I blew out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding.

Oh my God.

Maybe Desire, Montana wouldn’t be so bad after all.

“Okay, we ready?” Principal Williams strolled up from the other end of the hallway.

You’ve got to be shitting me.

But when his mother intervenes into their so fake, yet so real relationship, shit starts to hit the fan, secrets become uncovered and the test is on the two people who want this more than they realize.

Kristen’s Review:

I was a bit leery about this book. I haven't read many successful rewrites of fairy tale love stories apart from Disney. So I really wanted to give this book a good college try. Especially with a new to me author.

I was surprised by this story because it honestly didn't have much of the Disney elements I was expecting (ex. egocentric man). The only similarity was the nickname calling the hard ass boss 'beast' but we don't even witness much of that quality in him.

The couple is a bit of forbidden lovers, having to fight against Benjamin's mom. This fake romance gets as real as they come quickly.

The inevitable fall out is thankfully quick getting back to the love story we are waiting for.

Who should read:

Those looking for a true love story.

Why we chose this book:

I wanted to broaden my horizons with more authors, and Diane was just the ticket.

As the eldest of the Davis clan, Clayton has always tried to lead by example. Along with taking his job as head of the family business seriously, he is also determined to keep his brother and sister in line. Clay is known for being serious, silent, and stoic—completely in control of his life. It isn’t until Caroline falls on hard times and Clay comes back into the picture that they realize just how impossible it will be to stay away from each other.

Aracely’s Review

I grew up on country music so for each chapter there was always a smile on my face because it reminded me of a certain moment in my own life. I can sum up this whole book with one song Blue Ain’t Your Color by Keith Urban.

Clayton and Caroline on the surface don’t seem like they should be together. But the more time they spend together the more Clayton wants to protect and love her. As for Caroline she comes out of her own shell and becomes a strong outspoken woman.

Clayton and Caroline bring out the best out of each other and that is why they are so good together.

In the end they have to be able to let go of their past in order to have any type of future.

Amazon | Goodreads

Synopsis:

Laken Garlington is a hospice nurse. Ever since her grandmother passed away it’s all she’s ever wanted to do. She’s worked very hard at what she does, and she’s very good at it.

Cyler Myer hasn’t spoken with his father in years. He’s built his own life and his own business, and has little interest in mending any kind of relationship. He doesn’t even answer the phone when his father, Jack, calls to tell him he’s dying.

Cyler comes home to his families Washington State ranch when he gets word that his father is dying of cancer. When he gets there he finds a smart and sassy nurse that’s in charge of his father's care. The two quickly connect in this cowboy story of forbidden love.

Aracely’s Review

I want to start by saying what an amazing job Kristin Vayden did with writing this book. First off with Laken and the way she conveyed the strain it takes of being a hospice nurse  on not only the family but herself .Being a nurse I really connected with what she went through because it is all to real. Second the way she writes about life on the farm and the problems that could arise. I can say from personal experience that what Margaret went through is a big problem and sometimes they aren’t all that lucky. And lastly the theme of the book forgiveness and moving on from past mistakes. Sometimes it takes someone dying in order to truly see the beauty of living.

Kristen’s Review

*High Fives!!!*
We have a cowboy book up in here!!
I LOVE cowboys, and I'm pretty critical of them as well. So honestly I was a bit nervous to do my first cowboy review.

But it was well done! The story more focused on the father/son relationship of dying, cancer patient, Jack Myer, and bitter son, Cyler.

While there wasn't a lot of cowboy talk. There was a horse that everyone loved and we did get that ranch feel.

I really loved this, because the author is Rachel Van Dyken's sister. And she made sis proud!

Why we choose this book:

Kristen choose this story because she LOVES cowboy stories. We were also excited to read a book by Rachel Van Dyken’s sister.

Who should read this book:

This is a sweet love story about love and family and forgiveness. This is a great story for everyone.

About the Author:

Kristin's inspiration for the romance she writes comes from her tall, dark and handsome husband with killer blue eyes. With five children to chase, she is never at a loss for someone to kiss, something to cook or some mess to clean but she loves every moment of it! She loves to make soap, sauerkraut, sourdough bread and gluten free muffins. Life is full of blessings and she praises God for the blessed and abundant life He's given her.
