Do you know that edible wild plants are healthy?

Edible Wild Plants are not only free to find but also the healthier alternative to many of the greens in the supermarket. If you go walking or jogging in nature and or have the opportunity to spent time in nature, you may like collecting wild plants. Herbs like Nettles, Dandelions, and Daisies and more you can use in your kitchen. Also, the flowers of the daisies are edible and a beautiful decoration for smoothies. Also, you can eat yaw, red clover, white goosefoot, or ribwort plantain. There are many edible wild plants in our nature. The important thing is that you inquire well. There may also be herb walks in your area. You also can find countless books on this topic.

THE AMAZING WILD GARLIC GOOD FOR HEALTH AND VITALITY

For starters, it is enough to know the stinging nettle and the dandelion. Although some plants look similar to the dandelion, they are all edible. The leaves of the similar-looking, like the piglet’s herb, are only slightly hairier than those of the dandelion.

Edible Wild Plants for Health

The roots of wild plants reach deeper into the soil than the roots of conventionally grown leafy vegetables. What we call “weeds” is the best source of minerals and vitamins. For example, by iron deficiency, you can drink green wild plant smoothies daily. Native plants have up to ten times more minerals than the vegetables and leafy greens from the supermarket. If everybody in your neighborhood starts his lawnmower to destroy this “terrible weeds,” you know it better. Also, wild plants are the home of many insect species, such as the butterflies, Bees love dandelion. Instead of cutting everything down, it’s worth to let the lawn in the garden grow or grow one with wild grass seeds.

Edible Wild Plants are suitable for smoothies or to mix in salads.

You can store them a few days in the fridge. Collect some supplies on your next walk in the meadow.

The stinging nettle, by the way, loses its combustibility during the process, if you cut and bring it home it is gone. It is enough to throw them into the hot water, and it does not burn anymore.
That goes for tea or smoothies in particular. Also, you can let stinging nettle dry and then crumble and use them as a powder. Especially in winter, it is practical to use such a powder in smoothies, if fresh green plants are not available. Read here about SPRING IS BEST TIME TO DETOX WITH THE STINGING NETTLE

Smoothies

You will like the stinging nettle in smoothies. The whole stinging nettle, with all its benefits, enters your body. As you have already noticed, today I make a declaration of love to the stinging nettle. Even though each one of us has had such a traumatic experience with the nettle. Now is the time to consider it a valuable medicinal plant. It is so precious that it has to protect itself by burning.

Therefore, pick the stinging nettle with gloves or scissors. For all wild plants: Never take the roots out with them to make sure that they grow back, and you can always harvest fresh leaves again.

Try this Nettle Smoothie: A ripe mango, a little lemon juice, some ginger (cube-sized), 1/4 avocado, Two hands full of nettle plants, some water

Another nettle smoothie recipe: One cup fresh nettle (tightly packed), 1 cup kale (tightly packed), one large banana, one apple, 2 cups coconut water (or substitute apple juice), 1/2 avocado 1/4 cup mint (tightly packed). Mix in a Blender and enjoy!

Do you want to improve your look and your health with raw food detox?

Time for a raw food detox! The winter is over and the spring is here. Many now have an urgent need to become even healthier and improve their appearance. The lifestyle with plenty of raw food comes to the rescue.

No other food has such a significant effect on our health and appearance as living food which is food that is not heated above 45 ° Celsius.

Nothing works without enzymes.

Raw, living food comes with its enzymes, which ensure that the nutrients are better absorbed. Food that we heat above 45 ° C has no enzymes left. It means that our body has to use its own enzymes. And there is a difference between dead cells and living cells. But when it comes to food, we ignore the difference between “dead” and “alive.”

For example, the fruit is picked and cut in half. Although the fruit is then no longer whole, seeds are still alive (except for hybrid fruits), and the fruit or vegetables are always full of life.

Because as soon as we plant the seeds, kernels or raw nuts in the soil, a plant will grow again. The fruits continue to ripen. Even if they are no longer hanging on the tree. Carrots, onions or beetroot sprout back as soon as we plant them in the soil.

Enzymes are active molecular and consist of minerals and proteins, as well as vitamins. The science and industry tries, again and again, to isolate these nutrients and produce supplements from it. But can you reproduce real life from food? We cannot replace living food created by the sun.

Enzymes are susceptible when exposed to high heat. It also includes the pasteurization of food. No food makes you younger, more vital and alive than living food with all its enzymes intact. Natural living food rejuvenates us and is better than any anti-aging products.

However, cooked food is still considered the more appealing food. Cookbooks and magazines like to demonstrate how to manipulate and alter natural food.

Even children learn that food in their original form is less tasty. We have to teach Children from an early age that the living food in its original form tastes delicious and much more intense than the cooked variant.

Living food gives rise to vibrating cells, and when our body begins to purify from the inside and the right nutrients are fed to it, then our outward appearance will follow.

We can notice Physical features which are particularly concise with raw food, like:

They are always close to their ideal body weight

Even older raw food eaters are moving as energetically as young people.

They often have a slightly golden skin tone.

Her eyes are radiant, and the eye-white is clear

Even people beyond the age of 40 are young and have this Glow.

The face appears finer because less water accumulates in the tissue

Plenty of raw food and fasting now and then have the most significant anti-aging effect

Why do so many fail to switch to healthy, living food?

Some people have repeatedly setbacks and occasionally celebrate cake and pasta orgies. It’s just a mind thing. Our comfort food, which we know since early childhood, has been deeply engraved in our consciousness and in our senses. Our taste buds are manipulated. In addition, we often experience detox symptoms when we switch to fruits and vegetables or even fast for a few days. Our body uses all channels to get rid of its toxins (slags).

“Fasting is the oldest healing method that exists”

Is a Raw Food Detox and fasting only for experienced people?

Here are a few tips on Raw food Detox” or cleansing and fasting:

How can you detoxify if you have little experience in it? Many think that you have to participate in expensive fasting retreats.

Good news is that even at home with little habit changes, you can regularly cleanse and detoxify your body.

What does raw food detox, cleansing or fasting mean?

Science likes to claim that our body can dispose of all toxins, wastes, debris, or slags through our digestive system, the intestines, liver, kidneys, bladder, skin, etc. If so, why many overweight and have other lifestyle diseases? For example, chronic headache or even migraine means that the body is overloaded with toxins or slags. Often migraine gets worse when we start with detox (cleansing). After that, however, it gets noticeably better and can usually even disappear totally if we change our diet in the long run.

From where do these slags or toxins come?

It comes from permanent overeating and wrong food. These include heavily processed foods, too many animal proteins, and pasta, etc., as well as medications, environmental toxins, and constant stress, which also helps keep our body from excreting. Our body tries to control these poisons by depositing or encapsulating these poisons somewhere.

What are the ideal fasting methods?

Consume a lot of fresh, watery fruits and vegetables on an empty stomach (ideal for fasting beginners): This can be whole fruits, such as a mono-meal with only one kind of fruit. A mono-meal has the advantage that it digests quickly and hardly consumes digestive energy. However, potential detoxification symptoms can be more intense during a single meal.

You should consume Smoothies and fresh vegetable juices only on an empty stomach. Since this food requires little digestive energy, our body can detoxify quickly. As soon as you eat just one date or nut (concentrated food), your body stops the detoxification process.

“Our body can not digest and detoxify at the same time”

Water fasting :

This type of fasting is ideal for losing weight, detoxifying, and generating more physical energy and spiritual experience. You only drink plenty of pure, still water. Nothing else. Water fasting detoxifies in a very fast way as your digestive system gets a perfect break. After two or three days you often feel a great euphoria, and you get along with very little sleep. If you are fasting for more than three days, this should be monitored by a fasting expert. In the first one to two days you will feel a strong hunger sensation, which is often psychological. Because we often can not believe that our body can get along with much less food than is generally assumed.

Intermittent fasting is also suitable for beginners:

This type of fasting you can relatively well integrate into everyday life. Generally, one can say that less food rejuvenates us.
Intermittent fasting means nothing more than eating nothing for a few hours in between.
Also, the production of a certain hormone slows down, which accelerates our aging process. It is very similar to insulin. Lower levels of it mean a cell regeneration and also rejuvenation. For example, you could always fast for a couple of hours between meals, or you could take one to two days of fasting per week. Only water or vegetable juices allowed. It’s about having nothing in your stomach for a few hours a day. This results in faster cell regeneration, a younger appearance, fewer illnesses, and the body become more resistant to stress. Intermittent fasting can look very different and you can find out for yourself, what works and what does not.

Juice fasting is for beginners and advanced:

Nevertheless, juice-fasting is not suitable for everyone. For example, if you have diabetes or other serious infections, it is not recommended to juice fasting. Because the fresh vegetable juice has no more fiber and thus it can sometimes come to blood sugar peaks, as well as certain vegetables have more sugar than others, for example, carrots or beetroot.

Nevertheless, the juice-fasting is a not so hard form of fasting and incidentally offers some taste. Juice fasting is particularly suitable for people who want to lose weight. Juice fasting is very detoxifying. The juices should always be fresh and not pasteurized.

Even the freezing of juices makes the juices worthless. Only use vegetables, especially green vegetables and leafy vegetables, for juicing. The only fruit that you can be juice with vegetables is an apple. Drink about five glasses of fresh vegetable juice a day. In between, plenty of water.

What type of fasting is most ideal for beginners?

Have a fasting day per week. You can only stay with water or have a juice fasting day. The effects will not be that big, but if you put in this one day a week and consider it a solid ritual, then your body will get a rhythm and slow down more slowly but detoxify.
Intense detoxification symptoms are therefore missing. Also, you will look fresher and brighter on the following day and feel more energetic. Even if you go to bed with an empty stomach now and then, this can be considered as intermittent fasting and can accelerate cell regeneration.

What to eat after fasting?

Start with fruits, vegetables or smoothies. Even a light soup is okay. It should be very light food. Otherwise, the fasting would not have done much. Your body needs to get used to a little firmer food gradually. In general, a healthy diet should be respected even outside of fasting.

What about slim people?

If you are slim or too thin and would like to gain some weight, one fasting day per week can improve your intake. This means your gut can better utilize nutrients. During fasting, your digestive system can regenerate and work more efficiently.

What are the best alternative sweeteners?

Who does not like healthy sweets? We know sugar is not good for us but there are alternative sweeteners which are more healthy.

Sweet things are delicious and are part of many occasions, whether as a birthday cake, dessert or just as a little snack in between. However, sugar is not harmless: you can find it in many processed foods, including savory items such as chips and finished products. It quickly gets into the bloodstream after consumption and raises the blood sugar level. However, this drops rapidly, and the appetite comes back. There are also discussions on whether sugar can make addicted. If you want to snack on healthy sweets, use alternative sweeteners.

If we assume that carbohydrates, i.e. (complex) sugars, are our most important “fuel,” we are talking about natural sweetness, as not only fruits but also root vegetables contain it. Of course, we also need the other flavors as well, like sour, salty, bitter. Sometimes more sometimes less. With a mindful, natural way of life and diet, your sense of taste reveals what your body needs right now.

Sweet, to the right extent, has a nourishing, energizing, calming, harmonizing effect. Fortunately, nature takes good care of us, and most of the fruits that make up a large part of our diet are naturally sweet. But what to do if you need extra sweetness for a raw preparation?

It is clear that industrial sugar and other isolated sugars are not an option. I assume that you are aware of its harmful effects on your health. But there is now a whole range of sweetener alternatives that you can use in your raw food kitchen. Here we would like to introduce you to some of the best for the raw food kitchen. Try the recipes and enjoy!

The Best Alternative Sweeteners For The Raw Food Kitchen Dates are one of best alternative sweeteners

A preferred sweetener. Well, no wonder – we all love Dates and like to eat them just like that. Medjool, which is also available in many places, are usually too sweet for me. Of course, there are many other types of dates in this world, but if you do not live where they grow, you can almost only buy them in specialized stores. Processed into a dough with nuts or seeds or soaked in water, then mashed, added to smoothies, creams, etc.

No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Doughnuts

These no-bake doughnuts are packed with all kinds of goodies. Made from dates, almonds, buckwheat, coconut, and cacao, they’ll fulfill your craving for something sweet while leaving you feeling nourished and energetic. Plus, they’re topped with a creamy peanut butter frosting. Yum!

Bananas

Bananas and other very sweet fresh fruits, such as figs, are suitable for sweetening smoothies, desserts, pie fillings, for example.

Raw vegan cinnamon rolls

They’re gooey, sweet, and completely indulgent – yet they aren’t filled with harmful fats or processed sugars. Make your own basic version by slicing your bananas lengthwise into three strips each and spreading each strip with a blended mixture of dates, raisins, and cinnamon. Then lightly roll the strips up into mini cinnamon rolls and top with your favorite icing or more cinnamon. You can eat them as-is or put them in the dehydrator.

Mulberries a special one of best alternative sweeteners

Dried mulberries, especially those that are not really dry, are great as sweets for children. Consider them as the “gummy bears” for raw food kids. Not so tasty for nibbling is the very hard and dry ones. You can wonderfully use them for sweetening. You can simply grind them in a blender to a powder and use this as a sugar substitute in puddings and desserts. Just grind the amount that you need and process it right away, because the mulberry sugar does not stay so grainy and loose for a long time, it glues back very quickly. You can also use this effect: mixed with apples, you get a wonderfully sweet and fruity jelly!  Get you Mulberries click here

Magical Mulberry Squares

These magical mulberry squares by Ariene Resnick of ArieneCooks.com are raw, vegan, low glycemic, soy-free, grain-free and paleo friendly too! A camu camu vitamin C blast adds a nice element of tartness to balance out the naturally sweet mulberries, raisins, and coconut nectar.

Raisins, figs, apricots (dried fruits)

These dried fruits are very sweet, and you can use them for sweetening as well as dates: soak the fruit and make Muse out of it. They last a few days and you can use to sweeten all sorts of creams and smoothies. Like dates, you can use the dried fruit without any soaking with kernels and nuts to all kind of sweets.

Raw Vegan Fruit Cake

This Raw Vegan Fruit Cake contains absolutely no flour, no eggs and no dairy which makes it vegan and safe for those who are dairy and gluten intolerant. It also keeps for weeks if wrapped well and stored in the fridge. I love that aspect of it!

Stevia is also one of the best natural alternative sweeteners

Stevia is a green-leaved plant whose leaves are intensely sweet and fresh and dried and powdered, which can also be used to sweeten anything.

Fresh chia seed and lemon pudding (vegan)

Mix chia seeds, coconut milk, and oat milk. Season to taste with SteviaSweet Liquid, grated lemon zest and lemon juice. Allow for mixture to gel for one hour or overnight in the refrigerator.

Coconut sugar

For some time coconut sugar has appeared in many raw food recipes on the net as an ingredient. Why is not clear because coconut sugar is obtained by heating from the sweet nectar of the coconut blossom and is therefore not raw. Indeed it is a healthier alternative to industrial sugar because it has a lower glycemic index and allegedly contains some minerals despite the heating. Coconut sugar is often included in raw food candy bars. Better not to use too much of it, there are finally better alternatives

Raw Apple Cider Doughnuts

They’re also surprisingly easy to make. Primarily prepare them from oats, nuts, and almond flour that are perfectly spiced with a blend of warm cinnamon and nutmeg. And don’t forget the finishing touch: a generous coating of cinnamon sugar! If you don’t have a dehydrator, don’t worry, because these can also be made at the lowest temperature setting in your oven.

Agave Syrup

Agave syrup appeared a few years ago, when it came on the market in raw food quality, like a small miracle to make raw candy. Unfortunately, the experience suggests that he does not do well. That’s why better we have not used it for years now. Meanwhile, there are also various critical reports about “raw” agave syrup. Starting with doubts about its raw food quality (highly processed and anything but “natural” after which it is directly harmful to health.) Whether raw or not: agave syrup is an isolated sugar that comes without the associated enzymes, minerals and vitamins. Excessive use of hepatic metabolism, as well as white sugar, can lead to insulin intolerance, fatty liver, and obesity. Read more here

Microgreens are a healthy Superfood and that you can grow yourself

Microgreens are the new delicious superfoods that anyone can easily grow. No matter if you live in a city or are a small vegetable farmer.

They are tiny and have a lot of them: the young plantlets of certain vegetables like broccoli, red cabbage, radishes, and herbs, for example, coriander, basil. Due to their nutrient density, these microgreens are now competing for superfoods such as kale or spinach.
Behind the modern-sounding name is a well-known term: Seedlings.

The vegetable seedlings or microgreens are a kind of tasty super food.  It will surprise everyone who is trying it once because the micro vegetables have a very different flavor than the fully grown ones.
For example, if you do not like broccoli in its mature form, you might find the delicate seedlings delicious. But is there more to it than a new taste experience?

Microgreens are eaten raw and are therefore ideal for increasing the proportion of raw food in the diet. Read here> See What Eating Daily Healthy Raw Salad Can Do For You

What makes microgreen a healthy superfood?

Microgreens have tiny leaves that are full of chlorophyll, taste, and vitamins. The University of Maryland even found that the vitamin content of some microgreen species is up to forty times higher than that of the mature plant.

Also, they help with weight loss because the contained bitter substances cause a faster onset of satiety, better digestion, and higher nutrient intake, they also boost the fat burning. In particular, legume micro-greens are also rich in vegetable protein, which is particularly interesting for fitness enthusiasts.

Microgreens are full of Power

Microgreens are virtually the first tiny parts of the plant that comes out of the ground. The plant is not yet a Microgreen until it has two or best a third leaf which appears about 7-10 days later. At this time, it has more nutrients, and especially phytochemicals, like carotenoids and vitamins, than its mature relatives.

The microgreens of red cabbage, for example, have the highest concentration of vitamin C according to studies, the plantlets of radish contain a lot of vitamin E. This is because they need a lot of power to grow. That’s why now is the best time to harvest and eat.

You should consume Microgreens raw to benefit from the high content of vitamins. However, they have a much more intense or different taste than full-grown vegetables. Therefore people often only use them for seasoning or decorating.

The tiny vegetable or herb seedlings are very well suited as a salad ingredient, topping on soups or vegetable dishes and also as an ingredient in smoothies and other raw food dishes.
Also, you can sprinkle a sandwich with the eye-catching microgreens and have a new taste experience. Once you start growing the seedlings, you will always find new ideas to use them.

Planting Microgreens DIY

Since not every market offers the plantlets, it is easiest to plant them on your windowsill. All you need is a small plastic container, for example, from strawberries or mushrooms from the supermarket, which you fill with soil. Soak the seeds of your choice for a few hours in water. Then make small grooves in the earth, in which you put the seeds. Cover with soil and moisten it every day again with a plant sprayer.

If you put a seed in water, it will soak up and burst its shell, activating enzymes and nutrients. You can harvest a Sprouts from the third day. However, if you allow them to grow under the influence of daylight, microgreens will develop. From about the fifth day appear tiny cotyledons, which you can harvest from about the seventh day.

Incidentally, microgreens are not to be confused with sprouts because you also consume the root part of them. You can use vegetable seedling called microgreens as a delicious ingredient for various dishes and also use it to decorate your dishes.

It is even easier to use a  Microgreen Starter Kit especially if you just want to start growing.

Try these easy blender recipes. If you love green smoothies or raw food, you need an excellent blender. Many do dream of the high-performance mixer Vitamix, but there is also a cheaper alternative like the Salton  Harley Pasternak Power Blender, for example.

Raw Food hides a world of pleasure, creativity, fresh taste and fun. In the Raw Food kitchen, you prepare pizza, lasagna, pies, desserts, and many other delicacies. Heat everything to a maximum of 42 to 50 ° C.

Raw Food is diverse

Some raw foodies eat exclusively on raw food. Others try to include at least about 80% raw food in their diet. Because an 80 percent raw food share we consider a raw food diet. Some people also live according to the “Raw till 4 “principles. Until 4pm  they eat exclusively raw food, afterward also can eat cooked food.

All is about light natural food for body and soul, a kitchen without much effort that tastes good and makes you happy. Many raw food recipes call for the professional mixer like the Vitamix. There are also affordable alternatives for your blender recipes.

A device that is used daily in the raw food kitchen is the blender. If you want to make small amounts of dip, dressing, salsa or sauce, a blender is entirely sufficient. For blender recipes, like smoothies, soups, ice cream, nutmeg, hard fruit, fibrous vegetables, and if you generally produce larger quantities, a high-performance blender is the better choice.

You need a good Blender

With a good mixer, smoothies are much creamier and finer than regular blenders.
Ice cream or frozen fruit can also be crushed and mixed with ease there are no fibers left.
Grains can be crushed and coffee grind. Nut butter and cashew cream go without problems
even dry ingredients are easily mixed thanks to the tamper.

With the professional mixer, raw food recipes are a breeze, and it is even more fun to eat healthy, vitamin-rich raw food in different forms more often. Anyone who has tried such a device once will never want to miss it.

Here are some recipes that you can try:

Tips for Raw Food Diet in Winter

Practicing raw food diet in winter seems to be challenging for many people. When the temperatures are in the minus range, snow falls, and no sun shines, especially those who have just started with a raw diet often wonder how it is possible to overcome the cold season without warm food.
It is not easy to get rid of the thought pattern that warm food warms the body. But many practical things can help to keep warm even in winter with raw food.

Raw food does not mean cold

Many people think of cold raw food. But it is rarely cold most of the food is at room temperature. The food is only cold when it comes straight from the fridge or freezer. Especially in winter, it is recommended to avoid chilled food. You do not eat vegetables, salads, fruits, directly from the refrigerator, but leave the ingredients on the kitchen counter for some time before you eat or prepare it.

Raw food can also be warm

You do not heat Raw food above about 42 degrees Celsius. It means that you can easily warm the dishes. Especially in the cold season, you can eat soups and other food warmed. You can heat liquids such as sauces and soups on a hot plate gently, or mix a little longer in a Vitamix. For other foods set an oven at the lowest level, or use a dehydrator.

Use warmed up dishes

Using preheated plates for food may be helpful. You can do this before serving warm the plates in an oven.

Add warming spices to your raw food diet in winter

Certain foods have cooling or warming properties. Especially spices can have a warming effect by stimulating the blood circulation. In winter, try adding spices such as ginger, cayenne, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, garlic and horseradish into your food.

Drink warm water

Compared to summer, in winter we often pay less attention to drinking water. It is just as important to be well hydrated in the cold season. So, remember to drink enough water, preferably warm.

Herbal teas

Hot herbal teas are not raw. However, many people, use hot drinks to stay warm. Especially in winter, herbal teas can be helpful if you consume them during the day to keep warm.

Eat food seasonally

Eating as seasonal as possible is useful all year round. Especially in winter. Fruit and vegetables are picked for the winter, stored, artificially matured and transported over long distances. In addition to negative environmental impacts, this also affects the quality, taste and nutritional content of the food.

Therefore, use for your raw food diet in winter root vegetables and parsnips, beetroot, kohlrabi, carrots, celeriac, Jerusalem artichokes, onions, leek.
And leafy vegetables such as chicory, kale, cabbage. Also nuts, seeds, and self-grown sprouts fit wonderfully into the winter time — and citrus fruit, apples, pears, kiwi, dried figs, dates, as well.

Eat enough

If we eat too little calories, our body can not produce enough heat. Although we generally consume too many calories in Western society, it happens that especially raw foodists, do not eat enough calories. Therefore, it is recommended, especially in winter to make sure that you consume enough calories.

Cooked food

If you have decided to eat a 100% raw food diet in the winter but crave for a cooked meal, do not see that as a failure. Of course, if you need it, you can integrate something cooked without guilt. Eating a well-cooked dish like steamed vegetables with quinoa, for example, may help you overcome the cold season more efficiently. You do not have to force yourself and can decide. Small compromises in nutrition often help to overcome the cold better.
