It's almost Memorial Day weekend, a time to honor those who died for our country. Although my dad passed away long after his military service days, he was honored at his funeral for his time in the navy. If my dad was still with us today, I know that he would love the kind of celebration I'm having this year, one with caviar! He always loved the finer things in life, especially those that have a tradition and art behind them... like Petrossian caviar.
So cheers to you dad! With the summer sun finally beginning to warm the ground, there are so many reasons to have a big, delicious, decadent picnic. Petrossian has you covered with literally everything you might want or need for a luxurious day outdoors. We ordered a tin of the Royal Shassetra caviar and the Charcuterie Basket! This caviar is now one of my favorites, and it's briny flavor was absolutely perfect for pairing with the cured meats. The Charcuterie Basket also is a thing of beauty all on it's own - it comes with 5 cured meats, delicious baguette toasts, 2 creamy spreads, and an insulated picnic tote! I highly highly recommend that you try this - both my husband and I just cannot stop talking about how amazing everything is! If I had to choose a favorite combination though, it would be the Whole Smoked Duck Breast on baguette with caviar.... WOW.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday weekend, and don't forget to get your Petrossian orders in right away!
Today's dress is for the pink-lover! Wax Poetic created the perfect girly-girl dress, which feels to very 1940's showgirl when paired with a fluffy petticoat. Raquel is balanced with adorable white polka dots, made of the softest material, and has a skirt made for twirling. I'm imagining summer days sitting at cute cafes, or simply grabbing an ice cream cone - it's a very comfortable dress!
If there is one aspect in my beauty routine that I have recently discovered the importance for, it is definitely exfoliating. I had always heard experts talk about it, but dry skin is something that I really never had an issue with. Recently though, I've realized that exfoliation works wonders for all skin types, and Mario Badescu has truly helped me see the light!
I currently use 2 of their scrubs, one for face and one for body: Botanical Exfoliating Scrub & Raspberry Body Scrub. In the theme of spring, both have fresh, natural scents feature plant or fruit! The botanical scrub contains Ivory Palm Seeds and leaves my face so smooth for makeup application. I don't think I could live without it. The Raspberry Body Scrub leaves my body feeling as soft as butter, and I actually love all of the MB fruit body scrubs... a plus that they look as pretty as flower petals.

Another spring-themed product that I absolutely can't live without, is the Rose Hips Nourishing Oil. Dry patches on my face have vanished because of it! I actually spot-apply, only to certain areas of my face are extra dry or tend to flake. It works wonders!

Here is a list of the essential Mario Badescu products that are also in my current skincare rotation, especially for summer:
Hello from Underground NYC! Marilyn was right here in the Grand Central subways, during her candid shoot for Redbook. I honestly never stop thinking about yesteryear when I'm taking the trains (which is all the time!) as the old craftsmanship is visible everywhere in underground NYC.
My new "Georgie Dress," by Zoe Vine, has the kind of timeless 1950's appeal that made me think of the subways. This is a dress that I could wear everyday. I love it's crisp, polished, and simply classic design. As I've already worn it multiple times, I added in a couple styling options below. It is such a versatile piece!
Lace & blossoms feel like such a natural combination - both delicate, dainty and feminine. This dress by Heart My Closet has such a gorgeous silhouette, and reminds me of the 1930's with it's sweet collar neckline, slightly puffy sleeves and longer hemline! I love that even though it's made of lace, this neckline allows for either daytime styling or fancy for evening. Madison Square Park is right by my husband's new showroom/work space, so it has been a joy to watch the blooming blossoms and colors arise these last few weeks!
I have always wanted to try more permanent hair extensions than clip ins, especially for fullness of hair for vintage inspired styles. I was so happy when Amazing Beauty reached out to me and offered the chance to try out their tape in extensions! I have yet to have them applied to my hair, but in the meantime I just wanted to share with you the "unboxing" and tell you a little about them.
Amazing Beauty carries top quality remy human hair extensions - both tape-ins and clip-ins! They actually own their own factory, so they are able to keep lower prices while maintaining the best standards. The reason I was drawn to the tape-in method, is because they do not damage the hair at all. I went with the 2 pack of 14 inch #60 Platinum, and my box contained everything I need to install. The color is beautiful, and they can be dyed if they are not the perfect match for you. Most of all, they feel incredible SOFT to the touch - they feel silky smooth! Find all info below:
Hello May! Summer is on the way, and I tend to reach for my beige/neutral toned stockings this time of year. Secrets in Lace selections are the very best, and today's pair is the Elegance Euro heel, which I combined with an unbuttoned floor-length hemline for a cheeky leggy display in the wind. It's so much fun to find ways of showing off your classic stockings, especially when paired with an equally classic polka dot summer dress. My look was inspired by bits of all my favorite decades, 30's - 50's, even though my dress is a piece of current mainstream fashion! Topping off my lingerie details, I added just a peek of the SIL coquette lace bullet bra.
Today's Mood: Flowy & Floating. Among new arrivals at Secrets in Lace, this robe immediately had me swooning. It feels so reminiscent of the 30's & 40's - so sheer, dainty, feminine & elegant. I love the puff sleeves, slender fit, and lace-accented waist. There are so many ways I'm excited to wear it, but I began with my favorite lilac plunge bra! Sponsored by Secrets in Lace
You probably caught miss Valencia Hourglass in the swing version, in my recent post among the early blossoms at Roosevelt Island. Today is the Valencia part 2, showcasing the stunning faux wrap pencil version! The Pretty Dress Company continues to stun this spring/summer season with bountiful florals and feminine silhouettes.
Happy Easter Weekend! It's spring dreams today, with a Petrossian Picnic: caviar, Tsar-Cut salmon, blinis, creme fraiche, & pastel colored french macarons... all with cherry blossoms falling around us, and a view over the lake at Central Park. This is how to do a spring picnic!
Everything I have tried from Petrossian has been exquisite, top quality, decadence. Our picnic spread was no different, with buttery salmon that just melts in your mouth and the star of course: Royal Ossetra caviar, my current favorite food in the world. I recommend enjoying each simply by itself first, then paired together on toasted blinis. We also loved topping sesame bagels with creme fraiche, salmon and caviar. Utterly breathtaking. The macarons were once again shockingly delicious. This opulent spread is a great idea for a picnic any time this spring/summer. What is so amazing, is that Petrossian offers all the elements of what you would need for one impressive outdoor meal!
