Pregnancy Stories By Age by Catherine Mcdiarmid-watt - 1d ago

Last night on the Discovery Health channel, they had a lady on the Special Delivery TV show that was 47 years old.

She hadn't had a period in two years.

She had never been pregnant.

She never experienced morning sickness or any of the other pregnancy symptoms.

She had just found out in August she was pregnant.

Just goes to show you miracles happen on a daily basis.

TODAY'S BOOK SUGGESTION:
Green Tea in the Woman's World - Green Tea and Fertility
by Vida C. Marcele

-- Water is the number one drink in the world, but tea is the second most popular. At the rate green tea is going, it may become the most often drunk of all the teas.

The antioxidants that green tea provides have helped increase the popularity of green tea in North America and around the world.

New studies of the medicinal benefits of green tea and a focus in American society on being healthier and fighting obesity has led to a surge in the popularity of green tea.

In addition, aging baby boomers are focusing on being healthy later in life and looking for ways to prevent common health problems like heart disease and cancer.

Today the question is: what is green tea's role in the woman's world? What does green tea do for fertility levels?

Should a pregnant woman drink more green tea in order to be healthier during the term of the pregnancy? What about when she is breastfeeding?

Pregnancy Stories By Age by Catherine Mcdiarmid-watt - 5d ago

I got pregnant when I was in my 50s (just last year).

She was a true Bonus Baby, a complete surprise.

My husband and I were shocked and thrilled about her birth - at the same time.

My sweet little daughter, Elizabeth, has been such a joy to us.

TODAY'S BOOK SUGGESTION:
You Make Me Feel Like an Unnatural Woman: Diary of an Older Mother
by Judith Newman

-- Today the number of women having their first child over thirty-five has increased by a bazillion fold or some equally scary large number.

Newman is the first to write a book telling what it is really like when a trip to the drugstore entails the purchase of both diaper cream and wrinkle cream; when getting your shots means both immunization and Botox.

You Make Me Feel Like an Unnatural Woman is not only about having children later in life: it is about what happens to a marriage — and to the spirit when even the most sought-after baby comes.

Wry, warm, and brutally honest, this is the book for any woman — whatever her age — who has awakened at 3AM, to the insistent shrieks of her darling and thought: Oh man, I'm too old for this.

Hardcover: 320 pages

First of all, one of my best friend: 43 years old (44 in December), with troubles of endometriosis and high FSH [follicle stimulating hormone], two failed ICSI [Intracytoplasmic sperm injection], is pregnant!

It is her first pregnancy, and completely natural - they were taking a break from medical assistance!

Everything is going well, she is now almost five months pregnant.

Yesterday she got the results of her amnio [Amniocentesis].

It's a very healthy baby boy!

TODAY'S BOOK SUGGESTION:
Pregnancy Miracle
by Lisa Olsen

-- A 279-page, instantly downloadable e-book presenting a 5-step, sure-fire, 100% guaranteed, clinically proven holistic and ancient Chinese system for permanently reversing your infertility and your partner's infertility disorders and getting pregnant quickly, naturally and safely within 2-4 months without drugs, dangerous surgeries, side effects, or expensive infertility treatments.

It's probably the most powerful infertility reversal system ever developed, and currently the best-selling e-book of its kind on the entire Web!

Here's what the author Lisa Olson had to say about her incredible program:
After 14 years of trial, error, and experimentation, I finally discovered the answer to infertility and developed a fool-proof system to getting pregnant the natural way - no drugs, or surgery necessary.

It took a lot of research to get to where I am today, to know exactly what works and what doesn't. Yes, after desperate trial and error, countless of useless treatments, disappointments, and agony, a simple holistic system opened the door to my new and much brighter life of motherhood.

I was also excited to see that my other infertility related symptoms had diminished. After years of waiting, I was finally free from Infertility! I have become a proud mother of two.

And now I'm finally revealing my secrets in this new 'encyclopedia' of pregnancy called, Pregnancy Miracle.

Gail asks: "Is pregnancy possible during perimenopause?"

In response to your question, you have no doubt heard of change of life babies?

Where unplanned pregnancies occurred when women thought their childbearing years were over.

While statistically there is less likelihood of becoming pregnant at this time, there are many exceptions. Women at midlife are still able to conceive — whether they want to or not.

In fact, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, there were 743 births to women 50 years and over in 2014. In addition, the birth rate for women aged 45 to 49 was 0.8 births per 1,000 women. While these are small numbers, it indicates that pregnancy can happen in midlife (when many erroneously assume naturally conceived pregnancy is no longer possible.)

If you are certain you do not want to become pregnant,
you will need to continue to use birth control.

Do you honestly feel it is possible for you to get pregnant, or do you feel you are too old?

Remember, in the last 50 years, births to women over the age of 40 have increased 50 percent.

In cultures where women have not been told their eggs are too old, they are often able to conceive in their fifties and even in their sixties.

The Huichol Indians of Mexico are such a culture.

Pregnancy Stories By Age by Catherine Mcdiarmid-watt - 3w ago
I know personally one mother who gave birth at 46 years old.

Another good friend of mine gave birth at 45 (nearing 46 years old).

I had babies at 40 and 43 years old.

My midwife told me she delivered a 48-year-old.

My OB said she delivered a 47-year-old.

(Those don't really count as knowing personally, though.)

Oh, also my mom had her youngest at 41 years old.

TODAY'S BOOK SUGGESTION:

Ready: Why Women Are Embracing The New Later Motherhood
by Elizabeth Gregory

-- Over the past three decades, skyrocketing numbers of women have chosen to start their families in their late thirties and early forties.

In 2005, ten times as many women had their first child between the ages of 35 and 39 as of 1975, and thirteen times as many had their first between 40 and 44 years old.

Women now have the option to define for themselves when they're ready for a family, rather than sticking to a schedule set by social convention.

As a society, however, we have yet to come to terms with the phenomenon of later motherhood, and women who decide it makes sense for them to delay pregnancy often find themselves confronted with alarmist warnings about the dangers of waiting too long.

In Ready, Elizabeth Gregory tracks the burgeoning trend of new later motherhood and demonstrates for many women today, waiting for family works best.

She provides compelling evidence of the benefits of having children later -- by birth or by adoption.
