What if I told you that another kind of life was possible? That it is possible to break away from your 9 to 5 and all it takes is the courage to take the risk?

A year ago I was coping after a breakup. I was broke, starting over and figuring out who I was again and where I wanted to go. Life was full of possibilities and I was excited and anxious knowing that every step and decision I make at that point will be crucial to the life and future I was building.

To be honest I was perfectly happy with my career. Working for the beauty industry and one of the top beauty companies in the Philippines had its perks. I was living every beauty junkie's dream and it was my dream come true for the longest time until it wasn't anymore.

Life has a funny way of showing you that there are better ways to live than just meeting deadliness, KPI's and the endless struggle of trying to reach one sales target after another. I remember crying and talking to my mom after one point feeling despondent because I felt like after everything me and my team did, it was never enough and it was starting to take its toll on my self esteem and mental health.

All it takes is just one person to believe in you and show you another way of living and I am forever grateful that when the time came for me to take the risk, I was ready.

I only had one freelance client then but I figured it was enough for me to live on if I learned to live simply. One great gift about this experience is realizing you don't really need much to be happy. So took the risk. I left the comforts of a steady paycheck and health insurance in search of a better way to live, to open up my life to new places, new friends and search of that one place I can finally call home.

So I guess this is my life right now, living on a suitcase- chasing one adventure after another. A far cry from the pallid couch potato I used to be, swimming with the fishes, diving into sunken wrecks and sailing after one beautiful sunset after another.

It's not always easy to be honest... I do miss the comforts of urban life sometimes and especially my friends but what's great about distance is that it doesn't really diminish the solid ties that bind you to the people you love. It only makes it stronger. You learn to cherish them more.

If you told me I'd be living this way a year ago I would never have believed you but here I am, sun-kissed and free, living proof that it is never too late to start again and go after the life you want.

Take care! xx

Brace yourselves! This is going to be a long-ass post since my birthday is coming up and I seriously need to celebrate the fact that I made it this far. If you're not into boring personal shiz then you can scroll down and read the part about how you can score 20k worth of fancy beauty loot ;)

I'd always thought I'd be married by the time I hit my 30's, but life has a funny way of working out. This year has been one of the most difficult and amazing year as far as I can remember. My 13 year relationship ended and I had to figure out who I was again and the kind of life I wanted to live. I took a break from blogging because I needed to work on myself, my faith, my relationships and also do the things I've always wanted to do.

Here are some of the highlights of my year so far (this can also double as a guide on how to get over a break-up to be honest):

  • Spiritual Growth and fellowship

I seriously wouldn't have made it if it weren't for my relationship with Jesus and my support group from church. I experienced my first prayer and fasting week at the start of the year and it was so difficult but necessary since I was fresh from the breakup. It was such a difficult but enlightening experience that I decided to do it again mid-year.

I also attended a retreat for holy week this year and got baptized.

ccf baptism - YouTube

Met a lot of great people from that retreat :)

Another awesome highlight was attending a Hillsong United Concert with my church d-groupmates. Hearing "Oceans" and the rest of their songs live was such an amazing experience.

It has been such a humbling experience so far. I am far from perfect and being Christ-like but I know I have the grace to always turn to him whenever I fall short.

  • I got into fitness

Nothing compels you to move your ass more than heartache, that and coupled with the sad reality that you have nothing better to do than mope around at night while everyone is out and you don't have any plans. I started small and did no more than 15 minutes of cardio per day and progressed. I like to change it up a lot so it doesn't get boring. Now I am more focused towards building more muscle and gaining strength. The thing about exercising regularly is that you get so much out of it- better health, sleep, confidence, endorphins and rocking a pretty good body doesn't hurt one bit also ;)

  • Volunteer Work

Probably one of the best decisions I've ever made this year was to volunteer for Kythe. Doing something good for others especially for these kids is so rewarding. I feel guilty sometimes because I feel like I get more out of it than they do. Hanging with fellow volunteers and like-minded people also is such a positive and enriching experience.

  • Trapeze Classes

I am deathly afraid of heights and I wanted to go big or go home so I decided to conquer it by signing up for Trapeze classes. It has taught me a lot about how to deal with fear. Yes I am still afraid of heights I think and I am still afraid of a lot of other things but that won't stop me from living my life to the fullest.

  • Went to Japan with my Family

When I started this blog, I was heavily into Japanese fashion and makeup- some of you might not know I went through a Gyaru and Neogal phase so it was pretty cool to finally go here and pay homage to Shibuya 109 :)))

  • Started Dating
flowers from roma - YouTube

It took me awhile to start seeing other people again because I wanted to make sure my heart was in the right place and that I had fully healed from heartbreak. Lucky for me I only had really one horrible date (ranted about him in my IG stories before) and the rest were pretty great guys. It helps a lot when you know what you want, you set a standard and stick to it. I met someone fairly recently and we really hit it off. It's been going pretty well so far.

Went to the beach, rode on the back of a motorbike and tried diving for the very first time

Motorbike ride puerto gallera - YouTube

I've always been deathly afraid of motorbikes and when my guy rented one so we can go around the island faster, I was pretty freaked out. Somewhere along the way I learned to let go and just enjoy the whole thing. I guess this year has been all about letting go of my fears, trying out new things and just enjoying the present.

I also tried diving for the very first time and it was so much fun! So grateful I said yes and tried it!

  • Reconnected with old friends and formed solid new friendships

I am so happy I got to touch base with old friends and bonded with new ones. Being single afforded me the freedom and time to just enjoy being on my own and expand my circle of friends. Shout out to my SC quad squad- She, Chris and Christina! <3 Thank you so much for your love, support and friendship.

For anybody going through a break up or thinking about ending things with somebody. I am sending you my love <3 Always remember that it gets better, you are strong enough and you can get through this! Music has a way of helping you deal with some stuff you can't express. Here's my playlist

I really enjoy writing more personal stuff like this and I hope you do too. I am so grateful for my friends and readers who have stuck with me all these years. As my way of giving thanks. I am throwing a Birthday Giveaway where you get the chance to win up to Php 20,000 worth of beauty loot. Giveaway is open internationally :) Please follow my Instagram check out the mechanics on how you can win this loot there ;)

Thank you and take care! xx

I have always been on the skinny side. I can't stick to diets and I actually have a tried and tested method of losing weight that doesn't involve clean eating or exercise. Here are my secrets to staying skinny and fab!

Pay attention everyone! ;) (GIFS might take awhile to load)

Self-loathing

Losing weight is easy when you've accepted that fact that you're a piece of shit who doesn't deserve to exist. Nothing makes you think twice about eating that extra piece of donut from the pantry than standing naked in font of the mirror and checking all the pockets of fat and flab everywhere. I always make it a habit to check myself everyday when I wake up and before I go to sleep and berate myself for every calorie-laden food I ate that day. Rinse, repeat.

Anxiety and Insomnia

The constant fear and worry of being good enough and meeting everyone's expectations works wonders for weight loss! All the negative and scary thoughts running around your mind late at night burns more calories than you think.  I worry about stress-eating even before I even start to crave for a snack!

Purging

Love junk food too much? Eat all the delicious and sinful food you want without gaining weight! All you need to do is to wiggle your fingers (or use a toothbrush) and barf up all the fattening stuff you just ate minutes ago in the bathroom! Who cares if there are people starving in 3rd world countries!?! Life is better when you can fit into sample sizes.

If all else fails and you just can't manage to shed off those extra pounds then it's time to call on some higher (or lower) power to come to your aid.

Bathe in the blood of the most annoying person on your social media feed on a full moon and dance the Macarena 3 times in a public area.

For those who were born too young to know what the Macarena is, allow me to introduce to you one of the highest achievements in music and dance history :p

*Disclaimer: This regimen might not work for everyone especially if you are extremely lame. Those with heart ailments and birth defects should consult their local witch doctor before attempting Human Sacrifice.

This post is dedicated to preachy vegans and health nuts.

Let people enjoy things.

Obviously this post is a joke. I do not support self-harm, murder or eating disorders in any way.  Social justice warriors holla! :)))

If you're on the lookout for a great haircut and color experience or for an authentic Korean Hair Salon then you're in for a treat because today I will be featuring Rina and Boss Hair Salon.

Rina and Boss Hair has been in the business since 1999, manned by a professional team of hair experts and stylists so you can rest-assured that your tresses will be in good hands.

Another thing I loved about the place is the interiors! Every corner is so hip, stylish and Instagrammable!

Their attention to details is impeccable right down to the stylish grey robe they give you to the mug they serve your beverage with.

For this visit I decided to get my root balayage retouched, some low-lights, color and a long layered haircut.
I love how their shampoo chairs have built-in heated massagers! On the right is a photo of my hair after the balayage root bleaching or root melt. I get this done since I don't want to touch my scalp with bleach and this one makes the grow-out of my hair look more natural so I don't need to bleach my hair as often to avoid damage/breakage.
After the bleach I asked for my usual favorite, a dark ash grey color. I always get this shade since it eventually fades to my an ash blonde tone anyway. That way I get to enjoy 2 different hair colors over time. My hair was cut and styled by Victoria, their Creative Director.

Thanks Victoria! I loved how she was able to give me the hair I wanted with as little damage as possible. My ends usually feel fried/dry after I get my bleaching done and the haircut really helped make my hair look more healthier and the layers added volume and did not thin out my hair. Follow her here
I've had bleached hair for around 8 years already and one thing I've learned after so many hits and misses is to leave the bleaching and coloring to the pros. If you're looking for an authentic Korean salon experience, then I highly recommend you try Rina and Boss out! I shall definitely come back for my next retouch :)

Rina and Boss is located at: 67 Scout Rallos Barangay Sacred Heart.
You may reach them at (02) 280 2374

Follow them below for more info:

Hope this helps! xx

Today I will be reviewing this Japanese Acne supplement called Chocola BB Plus from Eisai. It has been around for more than 50 years and has been developed and improved since it was first launched in 1952. I have really sensitive skin so dealing with acne is really tricky since conventional acne products usually ruin my moisture barrier and make my pimples worse. I've been getting horrible breakouts for the past few months due to stress and I've tried different products to help heal my pimples but it only made it worse so I decided to give this Japanese skin supplement a shot. Before and after photos after the jump!

I know what some of you are thinking, "but she doesn't have acne!?!" Lately I have been getting breakouts, I'm just really good at concealing them (Clio's Killcover Concealer is a godsend).

The proof is in the pictures, here are my results after using it for almost 3 weeks with my trusty Benton Snail Bee Essence,

Before and After shots of my skin
The before photo was taken last November 14 and the after photo was taken just today, December 3. My skin is starting to heal and the dark spots are slowly going away.

So what is Chocola BB Plus?

CHOCOLA BB PLUS is a vitamin B2 supplement for alleviation of skin roughness, acne, stomatitis, and it is also beneficial at times of physical fatigue. The product contains vitamin B2, an activated phosphate riboflavin sodium which is easily absorbed. Combined with vitamin B2, vitamins B1 and B6, the product improves skin and mucosal health. CHOCOLA BB PLUS tablets come in a reduced size but contain more vitamin B1 and B6 than existing CHOCOLA BB products. They are coated in an orange color using a natural coloring ingredient which reflects the image of CHOCOLA BB. The product is easily dispensed with its convenient one-touch cap.

CHOCOLA BB has been developed and improved in response to various consumer needs for more than 50 years since it was first launched in 1952. In a recent survey, 60% of women who take vitamin tablets reported suffering from skin roughness, acne, stomatitis and fatigue. CHOCOLA BB PLUS was created with the needs of these consumers in mind.

Daily dose (2 tablets) contains:

Vitamin B2.......................................38mg
Vitamin B6.......................................50mg
Vitamin B1.......................................20mg
Niacin..................................................40mg
Pantethonic acid, Calcium......20mg
Calcium..............................................20mg

Indications
Alleviation of the following conditions: blemishes and brown spots on skin, pigmentation caused by sunburn or rash
Vitamin C supplementation in the following conditions: physical fatigue, pregnancy and nursing, recuperation during and after sickness, aging
Prevention of bleeding from the gums and nose

Dosage and administration
For an adult (15 years old and above), take 2 tablets, three times a day, before or after meals. For a child between 7 years old and 14 years old, take 1 tablet, three times a day, before or after meals. Tablets should be taken with cold or hot water.

Where to buy
I bought mine from Japanichi for P1100 for a bottle with 180 tablets. For my international readers, you can also get this at Amazon and Ebay.

Overall Take
Apart from the skin improvement, I noticed that I had more energy when I started taking this supplement. I experienced no problems whatsoever when I started taking them and my skin started showing improvements around the 2nd week mark. Do take note that I take this 3x a day (2 tablets before or after meals). When dealing with acne, it is important that you also nourish your body inside and out so I also started taking flax seed supplements to augment my skin regimen and help heal my moisture barrier since I made my acne worse when I tried using harsh pimple-clearing products from Cosrx and The Ordinary. My skin is super sensitive and I think using those only damaged my healthy skin barrier which resulted to more breakouts.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone dealing with acne. Apart from being a vitamin supplement it definitely helped keep my energy levels up and healed my acne pretty well.

Hope this helps! xx

Getting  lash extensions from Kiyosa has been life-changing for my beauty routine. I used to rely on falsies since I have thin and straight lashes and the lash curler and mascara trick barely does anything for me. Now imagine going from that to waking up to perfectly full and curled lashes everyday? You could say I am hooked!

Here are my top 5 reasons why lash extensions at Kiyosa are a must for me (and any gal who wants to look fabulous everyday!)

1. They make you look effortlessly pretty whether you're wearing makeup or not
Getting lash extensions done meant I could skip the eyeliner and just apply eyeshadow if I wanted more definition. Plus points for looking pretty at the gym without wearing a stitch of makeup on!

2. They look so natural and feel super comfortable.
Expert application means no thick glue residue at the base of your lashes and they feel like your own lashes.

3. They don't make your own lashes fall off or go bald unlike other lash salons in the metro.
I had a really horrible experience with lash extensions before where it made my own lashes fall off and they looked so patchy and uneven. Kiyosa lash technicians apply each extension to 1 lash only which means less fall-out and shedding of your own natural lashes. The lash extensions eventually shed without bringing your own lashes along with it.

4. The procedure is so relaxing and comfortable.
I always doze off when they apply the extensions. It feels so relaxing and ouch-free.

5. They have different lash designs to choose from!
They have Sexy, Cute and Natural designs to suit your eye-shape. Their extensions also come in different lenghts, thickness and curl to suit your eye-shape and desired effect.

I got my lashes done again for the second time around and this time I went for more fullness and curl. I am currently sporting 10-11mm lenght lashes, SC Curl and I chose the cute design this time (last time I did the natural one).

Kiyosa Japanese Total Beauty also offers Hair and Nail services apart from Eyelash Extensions.

I think the bravest thing anyone can do in their lifetime is to love unconditionally. Valentines day is just around the corner and I couldn't find a better time to write about what has happened to me lately.

For the longest time I can remember, I have always wanted to die. My life has had its share of ups and downs but nothing one can really complain about if you look at the bigger picture. I just didn't get the point you see. I had a great life, I was supposed to be happy but I wake up, go through the motions, smile and pretend I am fine but I was just numb on the inside. There were times I wanted it to end but I was too much of a coward. I couldn't bear the thought of hurting my family and since I was raised with a conservative Catholic background, I had a healthy fear of hell and damnation to back that up.

The reason I wanted to write this all down is to let everyone know that I don't feel that way anymore. For the first time in my life I have hope. I am so in love and loved unconditionally. Funny how it took 33 years for me to finally have the courage and strength to find it. Something happened to me and it took years of putting it off because I knew the sacrifice it required until I finally yielded. This love completes me and gives me so much joy that I wish everyone could feel this way.

People have different ways of finding meaning and purpose in their lives and I am so happy that I have finally found mine. I never thought I'd be one of those Jesus freaks :p but I am and I really don't care if you call me one. I truly love and live for Jesus (ugh so corny) but there you go.

I finally know how it feels to be loved and to love unconditionally. Funny how I had to go solo to find that. I would like to thank my family, friends, ex boyfriend and d-group mates who has been with me every step of the way offering me their love, kindness and support.

All praise and Glory to God :)
We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

I started this blog almost 7 years ago because I was bored and pretty unsure about what to do with my life. It has definitely opened a lot of doors for me and I have made wonderful friends both here and abroad that I would cherish for life. I am truly grateful to be a part of the blogging scene and to have witnessed its evolution.

I feel very honored and humbled to be a part of Feedspot's Top 40 Filipina Beauty Bloggers on the Web amongst people I look up to and admire.

I would like to tip my hat to these ladies- the OG beauty bloggersLiz, Martha, Shen, Kaycee and Nikki who paved the way for all of us. Thank you for inspiring us :)

It's quite funny how life works. I was actually considering closing my blog this year to just focus on life. I take this as a sign not to I guess?

All praise and glory to God!

I have really thin and straight lashes. I've tried different eyelash extension salons in the past and I alway regret getting them afterwards. Enter Kiyosa Japanese Total Beauty and their team of expertly trained lash technicians who can help you achieve the lashes you've always wanted. Find out what makes them different from other lash salons in the metro.

Expert Method
Their technicians undergo a rigorous 2 month training period so they can expertly enhance your lashes without damaging them. They are trained to asses your eyelashes and make sure they only apply extensions on adult lashes and not on old or baby lashes to prevent them from falling off. They also meticulously apply each strand one by one which looks more natural and will prevent your natural lashes from falling off easily. Unlike other lash salons, they are not heavy handed with the glue so they feel super comfortable and look like your own lash strands. Lash extensions come in varying thickness and curls to help you achieve your desired effect.

The proof is in the pictures, here are my lashes after getting natural lash extensions.

See how clean and natural they look, most lash extension salons and technicians tend to be heavy handed with the glue at the lash root.

For those interested in availing their services, you may check out their price list below

Check out these  tips on how to maintain your extension longer. I tend to be a side sleeper and that usually ruins lash extensions since they end up folding /crimping them. I found a way to prevent this by wearing my most comfy big glasses to sleep to protect my lash extensions. It sounds silly I know but it really works! :)))

Overall Take
I've tried lash extensions in the past and it was a very traumatic experience for me since it made my real lashes fall off and I had twisty and uneven eyelashes. I even ended up cutting off all my lashes since they ended up looking so uneven and they felt so heavy and unnatural. I also remember how uncomfortable the application process was since it made my eyes sting a bit.

At Kiyosa the procedure was painless and relaxing, the technician expertly applied the extensions with a light hand and I experienced no discomfort or stinging whatsoever. I actually dozed off during the whole process. I wear glasses everyday so she made sure the lash length and curl is suitable for me and my eye shape.

Gone are my past fears about getting lash extensions. I got these done for free but I am definitely coming back to redo/retouch them when the time is due. I love how they look and feel so natural and it takes me less time to get ready in the morning.

I would definitely recommend Kiyosa to all my friends. No more fears and worries about extensions looking fake or my lashes going bald. You're definitely in good hands with them.

I have difficulty sleeping early since I am a nocturnal creature by habit. When I read somewhere that Lush makes this magical tub that helps put tired minds to sleep I was sold.

I was told that this is a seasonal item and it usually sells out fast so I made sure to reserve in advance at a nearby local Lush store. A couple of weeks after they contacted me and told me it was in stock so I reserved one tub and got it the same day after work.

So what is this Lush Sleepy Body Lotion and why is it such a cult fave?

Lush Sleepy Body Lotion is a nourishing scented lotion that smells of Lavender, rich cream and floral. It gives off a soothing heady scent that relaxes you instantly and leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturized like no other with its deeply moisturizing and soothing Oatmeal infusion and Cocoa butter. This is the perfect night time ritual to indulge in before you get ready for bed time. I loved how soft and moisturized my skin felt the next day! This product is Vegan-friendly and like all Lush products, they do not test on animals.

Did it help me sleep faster?

Yes and No, while the relaxing scent and the nightly lotion application ritual calmed me and primed my mind that it was bedtime, I really needed to make a conscious effort to clear my mind and switch off the mental circus (maybe it's just me but my brain goes on overdrive at night).

Any downsides to this product?

Apart from the fact that it is pretty hard to get a hold of, it is quite pricey at P945+ for a 225g tub. Packaging-wise I would have preferred a tube or a pump type dispenser. While the texture and consistency is perfect for me, this is definitely not suited for daytime use (duh) and for those sleeping in hot/humid rooms since this lotion is very rich and creamy. You might need colder weather or air conditioning to sleep comfortably.

Overall Take

If you're a fan of Lavender scents and rich moisturizers then this is the perfect indulgent treat to help you go to sleep. I heard they've got a bath bomb, shower gel and body spray with the same scent so I am definitely checking those out also! The scent is so addicting and delicious! This product is a form of Aromatherapy and will help in calming you down and prime you for a good night's rest but for those with serious cases of Insomnia or other underlying physiological issues then a visit to a therapist or doctor might do the trick.

Look at that pretty silver shimmer!!!

Hope this helps! xx
