As a run on from last week, Venus continues to oppose Saturn on Monday, for one last day. So the week could begin on a little bit of sober note when it comes to relationship matters. Tuesday also sees a powerful Full Moon in Sagittarius , where the Sun in Gemini angles tightly to strict Saturn. This suggests that for us all, that communication is going to be key, and that as much as we may have ideas, with Saturn in the mix, which ironically the Moon forges a helpful semi-sextile too, we need to understand that what we say and feel can come under the scrutiny of the more conservative forces, standards or expectations that Capricornian energy can bring.

Fortunately, Mercury, the ruler of Gemini returns to the sign midweek and goes on to forge a brilliant angle to Mars. So if we are very clear minded about what we want to achieve, and have a well worked out strategy about how we going to go about it the chances are we can grapple with such strands with enthusiasm, verve and a lot of energy.

And subtlety does remain important at this time as the two co-regents of Pisces, Neptune located in this sign, and Jupiter in Scorpio, continue a lovely angle which urges us to embrace the more spiritual, artistic and creative potential within ourselves.

But Pluto is going to have its say before the week ends opposition with Venus. Of course last week and the start of this week Venus was being oppressed by Saturn. This aspect on the other hand can see the beguiling, coquettish energies of Venus being used in rather a seductive way, whether it is to do with power, money or even sex. So someone seems so very charming about what they want, just check out their motives and your own before agreeing to something that may seem very different looked at in the cooler more dispassionate way thereafter. Hullo, I’m Astrologer Patrick Arundell, and here is your Astrology Overview for WC 21st May 2018. The week begins on Monday with the Sun powering into the bright and breezy sign of Gemini. We can all experience an increase in activity in terms of our interaction with others, be it through text messages, emails or phone calls. This is the 3rd Solar House and is very much associated with people in our everyday lives those people in our locality, the folk next door, our most familiar friends and faces and also siblings. This is an area linked with simulating new skills and techniques, and imparting ideas and knowledge of our own. It’s not as philosophical as the 9th Solar House but still very buzzy. Publishing, the digital or print, is often associated with this location, so if you find yourself wanting to share thoughts you have with others, to interact more this is a great opportunity to do so. Furthermore the Sun goes on to forge a brilliant alliance with Mars. And when these two get together positively like this it can add a remarkable amount of verve and drive to whatever it is we are trying to do and achieve. The social whirl could be part of this because Mars is location in the sign of Aquarius. With both being Air signs, clearly there can be a lot of give-and-take, working collectively, and also cooperatively.

However this is challenged to some degree by the fact that Mars continues for one last week in this months long-standing right angle with Uranus, the planet of surprises. Uranus of course is now located in the earthy Taurus, which is resistant to change, and Uranus is very much the Agent Provocateur of the zodiac, keen to challenge, stimulate, rebel, and change the status quo, which Taurus energy so likes. With Aquarius also being the sign that Uranus co-rules and ironically also Fixed, if there is a situation in our world which is right for some kind of update, and we or someone close to us is resisting this, it can certainly create an awful lot of attention, and perhaps more.

Yet if there is a need to really tune into what’s what’s, brilliant angle between Mercury and Pluto from Thursday through to Sunday can certainly help. This is going to help us all, should we choose, to Don our Detective Mac’s and use our powers of analysis to unpick the solution to any issue, concern, or scenario that requires and thoughtful brainpower.

But also in the 2nd half of this week Venus goes into an opposition with the oppressive energies of Saturn. Now, a few people recently have suggested the perhaps I share the unvarnished truth about the planets a little to raw. It is difficult. The last ten days of March and the whole of April have seen some of the most challenging planetary aspects for some years, and a lot of us have found the energy from this period tough, and unfortunately Venus’s face-to-face with Saturn, is another one of those aspects which is difficult to skim around the reality of. Essentially, if there is a weak relationship in our world it really could come under pressure at this time. But no one is going to leave your or my situation who is not truly right for us. But someone we may ordinarily get on well with can seem distant at best, cool, or downright unfriendly. Then again this could point to complete end in a relationship which has been bumping along the bottom. Venus in Cancer is especially sensitive, to to be faced with the ruler of Capricorn and Saturn, and even the most well-established ties could through some kind of readjustment this week. But as ever, it’s not what the planets do but how we react to them, that is the key. This weeks New Moon in the sign of Taurus, is particularly blessed because the semi-sextile it forges with Venus, the ruler of Taurus, in the sign of Gemini. If we take the Sun as being the 1st House this week, Venus therefore is located in the 2nd House, which in itself is a very Taurus influence, therefore the next month can be a time to really enjoy all the good things in life, be those that cost nothing, or cost quite a lot! Of course there is a lot of uncertainty influencing the financial markets, with trade wars, impositions of tariffs, Brexit, and the debt bubble, so it doesn’t necessarily follow that we are all going to be suddenly swimming in a sea of loot, life and astrology just aren’t that simple. However, the chance to really enjoy the things that are special to us, be this be home-grown vegetables, home cooked food, or more expensive choices or material items, or full-on sensual pleasures it certainly can be a fascinating month that follows, and with the Gemini dimension too one which can see plenty of mixing and mingling going on too.

However this week’s other two major pieces of news, occur on Wednesday when Mars shifts in the sign of Aquarius , for an extended stay through till mid November (all but for two weeks in Capricorn ) and Uranus ingress into the sign of Taurus, through ’till November the 6t both succedent zodiac signs. Now, of course these two have been in a challenging a right angle the last two weeks, and this will continue through to the 26th of May. But whereas before both Angular zodiac signs, or Cardinal, known for their leadership qualities, now they move into Fixed signs. Uranus moving into Taurus is particularly interesting, because of course Taurus is all about stability, but even those Bulls with a great love of set routines, and especially those born at the very start of Taurus, will, over the next 6 months find themselves much more restless and in the mood to kick over the traces and be a freer spirit. However, the progressiveness of Mars in the sign of Aquarius, can lead to some very rebellious attitudes, and may see a big shakeup in certain elements of our existence, and especially where these influences make contact with any Natal, Secondary or Directed planetary positions in our personal horoscopes. So, this week is going to be quite a rollercoaster, but it’s unlikely to be dull! The week begins with Mars continuing its restless right angle with Uranus . Impatience is going to be very much to the fore and we can find ourselves resisting the usual obligations and commitments we have. Even people who may ordinarily be conformers, can find themselves much less inclined to do what is expected. Tuesday also sees a Quarter Moon in the sign of Aquarius, the zodiac sign that Uranus co-governs. So we may find ourselves wanting to be a little more carefree around our resources too, or becoming more conscious of someone in our friendship group who doesn’t meet our expectations, or whose attitudes around a possession, or money, disappoint.

Mercury is also alongside Uranus, so this can be an opportunity to be more radical in the way we approach things, and stepping outside our comfort zones, and being more determined to live in the moment. Of course both are in the fire sign of Aries, and this can be an impetuous combination, and may see some switchbacks around ideas or plans and some outbursts too!

However a more stable planetary influence comes in the form of the Sun in Taurus’s fine angle to Pluto . This is ironic in a way, is Taurus energy is said to represent stability, and the maintenance of well established patterns. But there is a chance to transform resources, relationships, or inner attitudes, if we can embrace the possibilities that this aspect provides. It’s also worth noting, that was such a lot of restlessness in the overall situation this week, some changes may seem to be forced upon us and this may not feel particularly comfortable. However, even if this should happen, try to go with the flow, because Pluto works in very mysterious ways, and even if we mourn some changes in a way beyond our control, very often it’s because Pluto identifies something very deep within our psyche, that we would be better off without, even if we can’t see it at the time.

Finally Jupiter continues it gorgeous alliance with Neptune. This is an aspect which is set to go on through to mid September. Although Jupiter is in a retrograde until 10th July, we cannot underestimate the importance of this influence. It can raise our consciousness to those who are less fortunate in life and also to a more spiritual dimension. Life has taken on a much more material and harsh dimension in recent years, and this is an aspect that challenges that in a very positive way. We can find ourselves attracted to any cause, sponsorship event, spiritual guide, or music, film, or photography activities that truly uplift us. May is more of a ‘maze’ this month, as it feels as if we have entered one, after last month’s events amazed many. For who knows which way to proceed? This is especially with most avenues looking the same; there being no clear way ahead and some not knowing how to exit! This ultimately leaving many in a puzzle this May, as mercurial mind-games cause a few crosswords and word-searches this month, with Taurus adding plenty of ‘spot the bull’!

For in French newspapers, it is ‘two down, many cross’, as they are left with two extreme, outsiders to put a cross against in the general Election this month. While, in the UK, it is not ‘10 down’, but 10 Downing Street leaving many clueless, as a game of ‘Snap’ election is called. So it might not be all fun and games this month, but parties and movements are spotlighted this May, particularly the political variety. While angry Mars in Gemini all month joined by the Sun from the 21st and a New Moon on the 25th highlights game-playing and contradictions in fortune this May, the Moon especially linked to activities in Mexico and NASA also. As a challenging retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius and Piscean Neptune seek to establish the higher truth, re-questioning previous statements. As Party games are more ‘pass the buck’ than parcel. With ‘truth and dare’ being replaced with not daring to tell the truth and ‘spin the bottle’ just the usual spin and bottling it!

Although, planetary configurations make it tricky to avoid your turn this month, as the sky’s line up forces other’s true motives to be identified, acting as not quite a lie but ‘sky detector’! For from the 4th retrograde everyday Mercury in ‘Action man’ Aries is no longer ‘a.w.o.l’, instead taking a direct order and joining up with Venus and Uranus on the frontline. However, this unit face combat from other Cardinal Planets, as righteous Jupiter in Libra and delving Pluto in Capricorn maintain their retrograde stance, meaning the ‘truth will out’, as they target past unresolved concerns. This reaching a standoff from mid May, with Jupiter and Uranus at critical degrees in need of a release, whether through weather storms and power-cuts to strikes and riots. As individuals feel boxed in, desiring to break free from formal conventions. So acts of violence and terrorism are possible, but also thinking outside the ballot box, as in France ‘Le Pen’ maybe mightier than the sword, as the alternative option. While, this aspect, along with Saturn’s degree and Leo’s new North Node could see the forming of new ruling parties in general, as well as a new EU arrangement, if France also takes a piece of the Jigsaw away.

So April brought us Easter egg trails and trailblazers, with Planets in spirited Aries. However, May begins with the Sun is in bullish Taurus, leaving many blazing over the trail from actions initiated under the previous go-getting Sign. This meaning that as May advances, we are like ‘Hansel and Gretel’ picking up the crumbs, in an attempt to find our way! While, the sense grows that the UK will be left only with the crumbs off the table in EU dealing, as the ‘The Hunger Games’ begin, with the adage that there will be ‘no free lunch’.

This something the Taurus bull never likes to hear, as this creature of comfort always wants to know where their next meal is coming from, this Fixed Sign needing a set menu. So there could be a temper tantrum or two from the second Sign of the Zodiac this May. For if Aries is the baby stage, Taurus are ‘terrible twos’ and need routine. Subsequently, this month is much about early learning, especially regarding ruling States and political platforms, as many are in the pivotal stages of development or undergoing change. For Arian Planets bring the new ‘cycle’, but Taurus knows we are in a period still requiring ‘stabilisers’.

Hence on a positive note, there is no Sign more intent than Taurus on gaining all the facts and figures necessary in an attempt to secure the future. As this solid, down to earth Sign is concerned with dealing with practical issues, not quite using a crystal ball, but a crystallising bull to see us through the ‘crystal maze’ of matters this month. This is especially as several Planets still remain in retrograde motion as May commences, allowing us to remain at a standstill or go back the same way we came if not careful. So with the Sun in Taurus until the 20th and day to day Mercury from the 16th to the month’s finish, this Sign maybe the ‘bull of string needed to aid us through.

Therefore, personal finances will appear more prosperous with the Sun located in the Sign of Taurus. Although, by 10th May when a revealing Full Moon enters opposing Scorpio, comes the realisation of the game being played. For it seems a case of ‘noughts and crosses’, in regards to tax credits and help from the State, as what is given with one hand is crossed out by the other, leaving the vulnerable and disabled back at nought. This in particular aspects the UK’s Planets, as deceptions stir up anger especially over shared finances and having to pay taxes. While, across the pond, the White House too is impacted in a similar way, with this lunar activity illuminating Trump’s hidden agenda at odds with U.S core values, likely to erupt into further heated protests.

While, the Pope’s recent message denouncing violence is thwarted by this Scorpio Full Moon denoting violence, possible killing and a disregard for rules and standards. As Russia and Iran see turmoil, Canada faces financial hardships and France more outpourings of anger around Election time, as well as exposing secret activity in North Korea. Whereas, it seems China, Israel/Palestine and Hollywood bathe in the benefits of this Full Moon. Meanwhile, broadly this month, Brazil, Denmark, Ecuador, Germany, Ireland, Cuba and Argentina look set for upheavals, with Jordan, Yemen, Paraguay, the Congo, Georgia, Tibet and Peru also starred. To a lesser extent, Chile, Nicaragua, Japan and Sierra Leone also are headlined. So the Mayflower embarked on a voyage of discovery and as May opens up, many feel they are in the same boat. Though, some feel lost at sea as others choose to jump ship, but to navigate a course through, just follow this month’s stars!

The week begins with a Full Moon in the sign of Scorpio, squaring the North Node in the sign of Leo . The North Node is a notional point in the heavens, known to represent our Future Destiny and since last May it’s been encouraging us all to express our creativity, flair, talents and individuality. This Full Moon asks us to consider the cost of any expenditure which is linked to having a good time, or future financial security. Based on the 2nd/8th axis of the Solar Horoscope, even without the input of the North present, anything to do with values, the things we share closely with other people, such as responsibilities, obligations, joint finances, and long-term security and prosperity, come into focus. The desire side of the Moon in Scorpio is very strong, and if anything is out of kilter, around these areas, even issues which until now have been kept confidential or even secret, can be pushed into the open.

Ironically, the Sun forges a great angle to Saturn in the first half of this week which provides an excellent counterpoint to this Full Moon, with Saturn giving us the chance to restructure our resources sensibly, or to use what we have in an appropriate way. Any kind of business scheme or strands can benefit from good research, thorough analysis and patient application. In the second half of the week the Sun forges a fine link to Neptune , which can lead to acts of altruism, kindness, and caring towards those who are less fortunate. Expect for someone to ask for help with a sponsorship scheme.

Thursday also sees Mercury finally emerged from shadow. But then a retrograde end in itself on the 16th April, when it 1st began on 23 March it was at 16° Aries , and this is the point that it returns to on 3rd May. If there has been any element of our situation which is stalled now it can start to pick up momentum, and make potent progress. Last week Venus made a gorgeous link to Mars and also Neptune. This week Mars continues to make that fine link to Neptune, but Venus is now angling towards Pluto. If you’re fortunate enough to be in a relationship which is going from strength to strength, this planetary influence is going to emphasize this even more. It will help us all to appreciate the existing involvements we have, but particularly those that are truly meaningful.

This week also sees a sparkling new Moon in the sign of Aries , but this is conjunct the rather restless energies of Uranus. Also Chiron, the wounded healer arrives in Aries too. So what does this all mean? The New Moon certainly encourages us to embrace a more individualistic sides, to ensure that the things that define us as being authentic we are demonstrating to the world at large. With Chiron moving into the sector that defines our bodies, our very presence and even essence, there is a good deal of encouragement to be true to ourselves.

Yet with Saturn in Capricorn going into a retrograde until 6th September on Wednesday and also squaring with Mercury as the week ends – which is now fortunately going forwards after a three week retrograde, and the Sun moving into Taurus on Friday, earthier considerations are then going to come to the fore with practicalities calling out for our attention. Venus forges a delicious link with Mars all through this week. With both located in Earth signs, and also linking in beautifully with Neptune , the planet of dreams, a time of real promise for newer relationships can provide both the romantic and more practical dimensions for them to flourish.

Another area of great promise involves Jupiter and Pluto . When these to forge fortuitous angles as they do this week, it augers brilliantly for business, financial and commercial activities and especially as they are located in Scorpio and Capricorn respectively. Yet this can be also a week of some challenges, with the Sun in Aries squaring with Pluto, and Mercury in Aries, still in retrograde until Saturday, squaring with Saturn. To overcome the challenges that these two testing angles provide, we need to be conscious of the issues of power control in our lives and perhaps most of all around our professional situations or worldly interactions. We may encounter someone who tries to brush aside our rights, but equally we need to be mindful ourselves, of those of others.

Still with Sunday seeing Mercury travelling forwards, some frustrations and obstacles can start to melt away. For more information on how this will pan out for your zodiac sign or to watch your zodiac sign Weekly Video forecast or join me at Free Daily, Weekly and Monthly Horoscopes

As this week begins, Mars conjuncts Saturn, in Capricorn . Though Mars is exalted in Capricorn and Saturn is the ruler of this sign, this combination will need some care. If we find yourself in a situation where we really have to focus very very hard on a narrow and precise task, assignment or role we can do so with tremendous application and determination and significant results may be possible. But with Capricorn being the sign of responsibility, and both of these planets being squared by the restless energies of the reversing Mercury in Aries, frustration is possible if things don’t go exactly to plan. Both these influences are also Cardinal, so they can be about authority, power, and also leadership, so there can be an innate conflict between the retrograde Mercury in Aries, and its desire to initiate, and the more conservative energies of Mars in conjunction with Saturn.

More positively from Monday through to Thursday the Sun is forging a gorgeous Trine, to the North node or the point of destiny, in Leo . This is a very creative aspect, and is encouraging us to demonstrate our talents, artistry can flair where possible.

There is no doubting the Mars combining with Saturn, can lead to breakthroughs professionally, but we will have to work very hard to achieve them. But a reward does come at the end of the week in the guise of Venus, which forges a lovely angle to both Mars and Saturn, and the things that are shaping up well in our worlds can become more tangible, and longer lasting.
