Hi everyone and welcome to the new Miss Lacitos blog! Mother of 4 beautiful children, I spend my days between the work that I love and the Family I could not live without! They are my inspiration, my source of energy and my priority. The loves and passions of a working mother, scrapbooker and patchworker!
The Christmas charity event is next Saturday and I am very thankful to all the people that have stepped in to help: with their time, with their work, with their contacts.
Thanks to Marion Emberson from Sugar and Spice crafts we have WOW Embossing powder products to use and to give to all the attendees. Thanks to Michelle Ann Johnson, Stix2 adhesives has generously given us products that will be available to use, share and work with. Thanks to Beth from Kingston crafts, the amazing papers from Simple stories will bring our mini album to life. Thanks to Paula Pascual we have our beautiful logo and other surprises. Thanks to Garra Publicidade we have a wonderful space for the event!
This post Beth Kingston made on instagram really sums it up. When we join hands and efforts, it really becomes the most wonderful time of the year! With all these people and companies helping, with my friends and family stepping in to prepare the kits and and all the logistics surrounding the event, I am sure this will be a very special day. I know that for me it will.
Special not only because we will craft, sew, scrapbook and DIY together but because we will raise money to help a family in need. We will help ease the pain and suffering of a lovely wife, mother and her wonderful family. It might not be much but to know that we were able to help, even if only a little, brings me joy and hope.
Now the details!!!!

Simple, elegant, usable, pretty and sweet. That is what we will be doing. Thank you again to my Life tribe and to all these companies! Because life is a story worth sharing, thank you for being part of mine.
As the event gets closer, and closer, it is time to properly say THANK YOU!
But before that and to the new or long-time-no-see comers, I am organising a one day Christmas event to raise money for a family going thru very hard times. The event will take place in Porto on the 1st of December and we will make 4 different projects, that go from sewing to home decor, passing thru scrapbooking and paper crafting. There is a long post about it just before this one.
Now, back to where I started. If it is true, and I do believe it is, that “No man is an island” (or woman for that matter), I knew that I could not undertake this journey without help. So I reached out to my people, the ones I call my Life Tribe. I explained what I wanted to do, the reasons I wanted to do it, who I was doing it for and why I needed help. And they said yes! They said, I am here, what can I do? And for that I have no words to show how grateful I am!
To my dear friends across the globe that stepped on board and have been putting up with me for over two months: thank you! I wish I could give you all a big, gigantic hug and many kisses! To these four, AMAZING ladies, I will never forget your generosity! And patience!
If you don’t know them, make sure to follow them on Instagram and facebook, they are fabulous designers. They have all crossed my life some years ago, they have all been to events I organised before and they are all very talented crafters! And my dear friends, I am proud to say! Meet Paula Pascual, Marion Emberson, Michelle Ann Johnson and Beth Dreyer Kingston.
Because of their time and generosity the Christmas Charity event will be filled with products, ideas and we will be able to help a family in need.
Thanks to Michelle’s and Marion’s efforts, WOW Embossing Powders and Stix2 will be donating products to use at the event AND to make some Goodie bags AND some prize drawing as well. To these two amazing brands, to Ruth, Brian and Richard, MUITO OBRIGADA! I will take many photos of everyone crafting and having fun thanks to you!
Girls, you rock!!!! Thank you so, so much!!!!
My FAMILY is a huge part of my Life Tribe. My husband, my parents, my children especially. In order to organise the event I am literally stealing from my time with them. At home things are pilling up in the living room and they all see me going to the computer after dinner even more then before, they see me running all weekend long. And they don’t complain. My parents are helping with all the logistics, helping to source products at no cost, giving me the support and courage to go ahead. Could I be any luckier? There are literally no words to say how grateful I am!
I would like to put a photo of all of them but I think this image simply shows what and how I feel about my family …
To all of you, family and friends, thank you! I hope I can honour your efforts and put up a (very) nice event that will raise enough money to help a family struck by illness and misfortune.
To everyone out there: there is still time to register and become a part of this amazing movement. Help us help others! Send an email or message me on facebook and I will answer all your questions.
If anything is a proof of what I believe in, of the goodness in life and in the world, this is definitely it. Because Life is worth sharing, THANK YOU for being part of mine!
I do believe some things are worth believing in, fighting for, putting one self out in the open for. This is one of them.
It has been two years since I last organised a Xmas event. I have organised many other events since then in my current job, that I loved doing and preparing with my wonderful team, but this one is different.
It is different because it is not work, it is not for 650 people, it is not about company culture, team work or quality indexes (as much as I enjoy all of these!). It is different because it is at the service of others, because it is about values, because I just can’t watch from the backstage and do nothing. Because it is for a family going thru very hard times, struck by disease, abandoned by their one family and I just have to do what I can and am reasonably good at: Christmas events.
As a parent one of our main concerns is to be able to provide for our family, work to put bread on the table. Now imagine that in spite of all your efforts, you couldn’t. Imagine having to take care of someone suffering from disease in your family, having to take care of more than one in such conditions, having to find the strength where there isn’t any to get out of bed and do what needs doing. And still manage a smile and a warm hug…
If you can imagine and have a glimpse of the hardship it represents, then you know why this event is taking place.
I have to say I am not alone in the task of organising this event. I reached out to two of the pillars in my life: my family and my friends. I call them my Life Tribe. To all of them, that I will introduce and properly thank later on, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! I am so grateful for having you in my life!
So if you feel like you would like to help, if you simply love Christmas crafting and would like to spend an entire day making beautiful things or if you have never done anything like it but would like to try, then this is for you!
Let’s go to the details!
The event will take place in the 1st of December 2018, a Saturday, from 9h30 to 19h30.
It will take place in Porto, the actual place still depending on how many people register. I promise it will be nice!
HOW TO REGISTER
To register you can send me a message on my official facebook page or an email to email@example.com.
PRICE AND CONDITIONS
The participation in the event is 90 “holly leaves” and it includes all the materials needed to make the 4 projects. You will be asked to bring some tools along but don’t worry if you don’t have them. The price does not include lunch or coffee break but more on that later.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO
During the event we will make 4 different workshops/projects. Let’s say it is an all in one Christmas extravaganza. We will use different techniques, different crafts and DIY ideas. If you don’t master one of them, don’t worry, the event team volunteers are there to help! There will be:
A sewing project: a very easy one that you can replicate at home even if your don’t have a sewing machine. I promise to explain the how to do it!
A home decor project using a very famous brand of decorative paints that is perfect for your front door or even your living room;
A scrapbook project, where we will make a special mini album that is one of my favourite things to do. There will be lots of paper in the kit so you will have enough to make some cards or tags at home;
“Embrulhos e Presentes de Natal”, my signature workshop of original gift wrap ideas and presents. If you struggle on what to give each Christmas then this is for you. Small gifts, created from the heart, using easy, accessible products with a small twist that turns them into perfect, adorable presents!
The event has a limited capacity so once we have reached the maximum number of people coming and help me help, I will let you all know. Some places have already been taken so… There won’t be kits to sell unfortunately.
I will keep posting updates, news and on the week before the event some sneak peek photos of the projects. I like to keep things secret but just to get you all curious, here is one of the mood boards that have inspired me to create the projects for the event.
Traditional colours, cozy, warm projects, environment friendly materials. Attention to those details that make a difference.
I hope you like this as much as I do. In the end, in all the events I have made over the years, I have always put my whole in them. This one is not an exception.
I would love to count with as many people as possible. If you believe in “paying” it forward like I do, then this is your chance to give back. If you by whatever reason can’t be present but would like to help, email or message me. There is always a way.
Thank you for reading this post. Please share if you can. Because life is a story worth sharing, thank you for being part of mine!
