Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy Sunday denied he was getting into a hospital to avoid the floor test in the state Assembly Monday.
“The news of Kumaraswamy being unwell and getting admitted in a city hospital is fake and based on rumours, which is being spread by those trying to topple the coalition government,” said the Chief Minister’s office in a statement in Kannada here.
The rumours were spread in social media and found mention in a joint petition two Independents R Shankar and H. Nagesh filed in the Supreme Court for a direction to the Chief Minister to hold the floor test Monday by 5 p.m. and prove he has majority.
Accusing the BJP of forcibly taking away 15 rebel legislators of the ruling allies forcefully and subverting the law to bring down his 14-month-old government in the southern state, Kumaraswamy said the opposition party (BJP) made a mockery of democracy by indulging in poaching of lawmakers and horse trading with them.
“Video footage in news channels over a week has shown the BJP’s state leaders and cadres accompanying our MLAs to Mumbai in special aircraft,” recalled a miffed Kumaraswamy in a statement here.
Clarifying that he was not clinging to power, the Chief Minister said his only intention for seeking more time to debate on the confidence motion he moved July 18 to prove majority in the House was to let the country know how the BJP, which talks high of morality was trying to subvert the very principles of democracy and the Constitution.
“With the sole ambition of capturing power through immoral and illegal ways, the BJP has been demanding my resignation and making the state governor (Vajubhai Vala) set deadlines to prove majority,” asserted Kumaraswamy.
Appealing to the rebels, including 12 from Congress and 3 JD-S, to attend the Assembly and explain how the BJP sabotaged the democratic edifice and destroyed its sanctity, Kumaraswamy said he was ready to discuss all issues due to which they resigned from their assembly seats.
“Let us discuss all issues including your problems, if any, and arrive at a solution to save our democratically elected government from the evil forces which are trying to shake the foundation of democracy by misusing their political influence,” he added.

According to officials, the proposal of the former India captain is ‘still under process’.
“The Army has not taken any decision yet. The scope, duration, venue and character of training are yet to be decided,” an official said.
Dhoni, a honorary Lt Col of the Territorial Army’s 106th Battalion (Para), had decided to take a two month break to serve with his army regiment. He had informed the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) about his plan and has already made himself unavailable for the tour of West Indies.
With an increasing obsession on smart dieting, something new comes up each other day and this time, it is broccoli espresso. Broccoli is full with antibacterial and immunity boosting properties. A powerhouse of cancer prevention agents, it is a rich wellspring of vitamin C, which makes it a solid pick for good skin and immunity, and a great source of fiber, as well.
How is it made?
Making broccoli espresso is basic. Broccoli is dried and grounded into a fine powder. This powder can be added to your espresso to get all the medical advantages of broccoli. One serving of vegetable is equivalent to two tablespoons of broccoli powder. This is likewise an incredible method to eat those green vegetables that we don’t generally appreciate eating.
Broccoli shields you from heart disease, cancer and promotes weight loss. Additionally, coffee is something that people drink daily and that is the reason why adding the powder to coffee makes complete sense. In any case, in the event that you can’t simply add this powder to your coffee, you can essentially add this to your smoothies, fruits, oats or salad.
Broccoli and weight loss
Not just low in calories, broccoli is also pressed with fundamental supplements and dietary fiber, which gives you a feeling of fullness. Micronutrients present in it strengthen weight reduction by breaking down fats.
One cup of this green veggie gives you all the Vitamin C and Vitamin K that you need every day. Less fat is burned in people who have low levels of Vitamin C and people who consume a higher amount of vitamin C usually weigh less than those who don’t. It is also a good source of foliate, vitamin A, vitamin B-6 and potassium.
It is loaded with water and fiber, of which 90 per cent is water. Fiber absorbs water and expands and thus, keeps you fuller for longer and stops you from bingeing. This green veggie is additionally a decent source of phytochemicals, sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol, which are said to lower body weight. Weight reduction supporting supplements like vitamin C, chromium and calcium are also present in broccoli.
Dating older women or younger men is a definite progression towards stable relationships as they’re emotionally more grounded and binding and there’s a maturity to them which makes them whole.
So, in lieu of that, I am going to list 6 actresses who fell for men, younger than them.
(1) Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas: While Priyanka is 35 and Nick 25, their age difference hasn’t deterred the couple’s love or social media appreciation for one another in any way and we love to see them together, every now and then!
(2) Sushmita Sen & Rohman Shawl: Rohman and Shushmita share a 16-year age gap, but they definitely do complete each other, in every way. From her supporting him at his fashion shows, to them making work-out home videos together, it really seems like bringing up the age gap they share is absolutely redundant!
(3) Soha Ali Khan & Kunal Kemmu: The starlit princess and the boy-next-door fell in love with each other on the sets of ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaoge’ and the rest is, of course, history! After a long live-in relationship, the couple tied the knot in 2015, despite the fact that Kunal is 5 years younger than Soha. They have a beautiful daughter named Inaaya Naumi Kemmu and they really couldn’t be happier.
(4) Preity Zinta & Gene Goodenough: Although the age gap isn’t much between the two, it is still frowned upon by many people who love to criticise relentlessly. But that doesn’t bother Preity, who tied the knot with Gene in LA and they’ve been living happily since. I guess he’s ‘Goodenough’ for her!
(5) Bipasha Basu & Karan Singh Grover: The two had issues getting married as Bips’ mom was against her marrying someone who is 4 years younger than her. But that didn’t stop the happy couple from tying the knot and living happily since. They believe in unhampered PDA and never shy away from a lot of social media love!
(6) Neha Dhupia & Angad Bedi: Best friends before, Neha and Angad married each other despite their age difference. The couple has had quite an astounding journey and their age gap definitely has nothing to do with it!
In the ‘Bigg Boss’ house, contestants have often attempted various mind games to show their ‘showmance’ where they pretended to be in love with a fellow contestant.
So here’s a list of ‘Big Boss’ couples who fooled everyone into believing that their love was real:
Puneesh Sharma and Bandgi Kalra
When Bandgi was removed from the BB house, she had given interviews about how her affection and love for Puneesh was true and not just for the cameras. She recently tried to prove his love for Puneeth on his birthday but she has clearly forgotten that viewers have already watched them discuss faking a relationship to get by inside the BB house.
Prince Narula and Nora Fatehi
In the wake of winning two reality shows, ‘Roadies’ and ‘Splitsvilla’, Prince was very excited to get a hat-trick by winning Bigg Boss’ Season 9. Part of his game plan was falling in love with wildcard entrant Nora Fatehi after his SO Yuvika Chaudhary got ousted. People cherished their chemistry and Prince even won the reality show. But, as soon as the season finished, they proceeded like nothing had occurred before.
Karishma Tanna and Upen Patel
This can be termed as a completely scripted sentiment of love to fool us. The two actors met on the set of the show and soon, love blossomed. If truth be told, Upen proposed to Karishma on ‘Bigg Boss’ and took advantage of their BB fame. Upen and Karishma went their separate ways subsequent to completing two reality shows: ‘MTV Love School’ and ‘Nach Baliye’.
Tanishaa Mukerji and Armaan Kohli
Salman Khan’s favorite Tanishaa fell in love with actor Armaan Kohli but at the same time, as most BB couples, their relationship did not sustain after the show ended. One of their fellow contestants, Shilpa Agnihotri, had said in an interview that Tanishaa was simply utilizing Armaan to gain support.
There is a saying that ‘love is blind’. Leaving aside movie industry, even the world of cricket has seen several examples which totally proves the saying right.
Despite enjoying a huge fan following, several cricketers ended up falling in love with women who were already married. Here’s a list of four famous cricketers who fell in love with already married women and chose to marry them after separating them from their first husbands.
Shikhar Dhawan: The ‘Gabbar’ of Indian cricket team, Shikhar Dhawan found love in mother of two children, Ayesha Mukherjee. The cricketer showed that love knows no bounds as he married Ayesha Mukherjee who was a divorcee.
Anil Kumble: Legendary bowler Anil Kumble also ended up falling in love with a married lady and eventually tied the knot with her. India’s highest wicket-taker in the longest format of the game, Kumble married Chetana, mother of one who was married to a stock broker and was working for a travel agency.
Murali Vijay: The Test opener Murali Vijay also fell in love with the wife of his teammate. The Tamil Nadu star is married with Nikita who was previously married to his state and national teammate Dinesh Karthik. Karthik came to know about the relation between the two in 2012 and did not waste much time in divorcing his wife.
Upul Tharanga: Sri Lanka’s limited-overs skipper married Nilanka, who was married to his former opening partner Tilakratne Dilshan. It is rumoured that the increasing closeness between Tharanga and Nilanka created a rift between the latter and Dilshan which ultimately led to their divorce.
London: Researchers have used robotics to engineer a common gut bacterium to produce a new class of antibiotics, a ‘breakthrough’ that could be vital for the ongoing battle against antimicrobial resistance.
These antibiotics, known as class II polyketides, are also naturally produced by soil bacteria and have antimicrobial properties which are vital in the modern pharmaceutical industry to combat infectious diseases and cancer.
The naturally produced Escherichia coli bacteria are difficult to work with as they grow in dense clumps that are incompatible with the automated robotic systems used for modern biotechnology research, said researchers from The University of Manchester in the UK.
By transferring the production machinery from the soil bacteria into E coli, the team is now making this class of antibiotics accessible for much more rapid exploration.
This breakthrough could be vital for the ongoing combat against antimicrobial resistance, as recently developed automated robotics systems can now be used to create new antibiotics in a fast and efficient way, said researcher.
The study, published in the journal PLOS Biology, shows the potential of this approach. By combining the bacterial production machinery with enzymes from plants and fungi, it was possible to produce new chemical compounds not previously seen in nature. Using this plug-and-play platform, it will now be possible to explore and engineer polyketides using robotic systems to develop new and diversified polyketides in an automated, rapid and versatile fashion.
‘Nature is a huge treasure trove for powerful chemical compounds to treat a wide range of diseases,’ Eriko Takano, Professor at The University of Manchester.
“However, the most interesting chemicals often come from organisms that are difficult to work with in the laboratory,” said Takano.
‘This has been a major bottleneck for our work on type II polyketides, a group of important chemicals, which are mostly produced by soil bacteria and other microorganisms that are challenging to grow.
“By successfully moving the production machinery for these compounds into the ‘laboratory workhorse’ bacterium E. coli, we can finally produce and engineer type II polyketides in our rapid robotic systems,” said Takano.
“This not only allows us to trial new polyketides in an automated manner, but we will also be able to quickly rewrite the DNA sequences of the antibiotic biosynthesis pathways and combine them with new components from other organisms, such as medicinal plants and fungi, to produce variations on the antibiotic theme — including compounds that are not produced by the natural pathways, but may have enhanced or novel activities in the treatment of important diseases,” he said.
