Happy hump day guys- this is week is definitely one to be looking forward to the weekend. I'm hanging on by a thread with Soren gone all this week and me juggling all things Summer, kids, work and home. It's a lot to keep up in the air on my own! I'm surviving though and hopefully thriving a tiny bit too! Today's outfit is styling our Bright Melon leather earrings in more of a basic, elevated casual way. This outfit would work for work and more- it's definitely a versatile one.

Today's casual look is brought to you by Day 2 of Bright Melon in our N&S Style File series. This week I'm styling this hot pink earring of the month five different ways and today's outfit is super casual! This look is so cute for Summer and so easy to replicate too!

Today I styled these bright pink leather earrings with a bright Summery graphic tee, ripped jeans and easy white sneakers. You could swap the jeans out for shorts on hotter days. I love the idea of pulling in the bright pink with a coordinating graphic tee and adding a little edge with some ripped denim and a Black Wide Leather Cuff.
This is an outfit I would wear any day of the week, especially running errands with kids, going to a movie, heading to a concert and more! Come back tomorrow for another look at styling these hot pink leather earrings!
My favorite things to buy from the Nordstorm Anniversary Sale are shoes, jeans and sweaters. But there are other items I like to sneak in my cart as well like beauty products. This sale is the perfect time to try or restock those products for a great deal. I’ve got a little round up of my favorite beauty items from the Anniversary Sale below!

These were all the beauty products I bought at the sale this year.
NARS Hot Tropic Lip Gloss Set- This gloss is my go-to and these colors are gorgeous. I wear it everyday. They aren't super saturated and they aren't sticky. This is one makeup product that I would recommend to everyone. This set is on sale for a steal because each gloss is usually $20 each! I tried on each color here. ($30 After Sale $96)
Kiehl's Jumbo Creme- This is the time to stock up on the best lotion out there. This stuff is amazing! ($49 After Sale $78)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duo- These are some of my favorite brow products that happen to be in the sale. It's a clear brow gel with a small brow liner. Now is the time to stock up on this one. ($25 After Sale $36)
T3 Cura Hair Dryer- This blow dryer is phenomenal. I have the black version and yes, it’s not cheap, but it works. If you are in the market for a new blow dryer and you want to upgrade, I recommend this one. ($155 After Sale $235)
NARS Face Palette- Nars always gets it right. Love this blush and contour set. ($42 After Sale $56)
St. Tropez Jumbo Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse- This is the tanner I use- great price for a big bottle. It's a lightweight, classic mousse that tailors to your individual skin tone for a long-lasting tan in one application. ($46 After Sale $80)

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend full of Summer fun. Soren took the big boys to Colorado with him over the weekend and they are flying home by themselves today. EEK! Soren is in charge of a weeklong hiking trip for the teenage boys at church, so he needed to stay longer. He took the chance to get Easton and Kesler into the mountains by driving out there early with them and is loading them on a plane to fly home alone (but together) today. I'm sure they'll be fine, and it will be a great growing experience for them, but I'm still a tad bit nervous!
Today starts a week of outfit inspo with Nickel & Suede's Earring of the Month. This month is Bright Melon and speaking of nervous, I was a bit nervous about styling this one. It's an earring that I wouldn't normally wear, even though it's a fan favorite! I love it on other people and after this week we'll see how I love it on me!
SHOP THE POST
Today's first look turned out great. I paired the hot pink earrings with a hot pink sweater and even though they aren't exactly the same shade, they still compliment each other. I kept the rest of the outfit neutral with white and tan and I love how it came together. I think you could swap out the striped pants for just white jeans or shorts and the shoes for white sandals or natural leather sandals. This look is definitely a bright work wear look, but you could easy switch things around to make it casual.
The other thing that really pulled the outfit together is the fun pink bag. Having one other accessory that pulls in the earrings is another way to make an outfit really work.
Stay tuned for another Bright Melon leather earring look tomorrow!

Happy Thursday! What a week it has been! This is literally my favorite shopping time of the year and it's been a blast preparing this content for you. Not only does the Anniversary Sale begin, but Nickel & Suede is launching new Fall-ish products tomorrow too! It doesn't get better than this! For the first time ever Nordy Club Icons and Ambassadors can all pre-shop online today, July 11th. All other Nordstrom cardholders can start shopping tomorrow. If you don't have a card you can still apply or you can start shopping on 7.19.2019. I was able to go to the store on Tuesday and shop early-access to try on all the things. I'd thought I'd get out my first faves from the sale so you can start making your shopping list now! This post has a lot of the items I tried on, loved and purchased yesterday. I plan to style these items more soon, but here is a quick look at all of my first faves! At the bottom I've included a full list of everything I purchased so far to either keep or to try. Hopefully you can get what you want before it sells out!
This year I feel like the shoes, the jeans, and the jackets/blazers were strong. There weren't as many tops I loved this year, but there were some GREAT basics that I'll share below. I definitely focused even more on quality. I tried on a lot of items and kicked out a lot of them too. I will likely be sharing mostly middle to middle-high priced items because those are the items that are usually ridiculously high priced. This is the sale to snag a great pair of investment jeans, shoes you'll wear all season or a new handbag. I think you can buy a cheap tee or a sweater any time, but life changing denim? Only this sale. So- if I recommend it, it's been vetted! I can't wait to share! Onto the shoes! SHOES
These were my favorite flat of the sale. Great for work or with jeans. These mules are so comfortable. They fit tts and have a padded foot bed. They are at a great $54 price point. They also come in a true black and English saddle color. BOUGHT.
This is my favorite basic boot from the sale. This year there are a lot of pointed toe booties and these are still approachable. I love the pointed toe on these booties and the slit in the shaft. Wearing size 8.5 so they fit tts. These also come in a variety of colors. I loved the style so much I also purchased the natural embossed leather color below. Definitely great everyday Fall booties - especially in this color. BOUGHT.
This was the most affordable basic boot from the sale. Easy to wear and a great price. These are such a classic boot and will be your go-to color for Fall. Fit tts if you wear socks with them. I didn't buy these, but only because I bought the Vince ones above.
I'm usually not a big fan of black booties, I just never gravitate towards them, but I tried these on and fell in love. It has a low heel and very comfortable. The emblem detail on the side makes it look a lot more expensive than what they really are. A staple black bootie that fits tts. BOUGHT.
This boot is definitely one you can wear now and into Fall. I couldn't decide between this color or the blush color (which I think will sell out fast). The sock detail is actually really comfortable because there is no rubbing happening around the ankle. Fit tts and are only $59.
These were another style of snakeskin boots I tried on. I love all of my previous Jeffrey Campbell booties. They do run big so I sized down a whole size. They have a snug shaft and a pointed toe. Super chic.
This shoe is so cute! I'm loving the side slit trend in many of the boots this year. This snake print color is a good light neutral pattern that is not super strong so you can wear a lot with it. Cute stud detail for edginess. If you're looking for a snake print bootie during the sale this one is a little muted and a really approachable shape.
I've been looking for this color of heel for awhile now. I love the rose/silver champagne color that will pair great with silver or gold accessories. I'd even say they lean toward gold more than silver. It's a comfortable heel height and fits tts. Note that the back does goes up a little bit high but I think it's actually a good thing for more support. BOUGHT.
I've been really into business casual work wear lately and these are exactly that, a business casual loafer. Love Marc Fisher and these flats. I love the sleek pointed toe and they come in an assortment of 7 colors. BOUGHT.
There is nothing like a fresh pair of slippers and these new UGG ones are fabulous. I'm loving the bright color options and ended up purchasing the mariposa orangey color. These slippers are a game-changer- they are comfy, water-resistant and shearling lined. They only come in whole sizes so I recommend going 1/2 a size up. BOUGHT.
I'm normally a huge fan of UGG boots but these don't have the shearling lining throughout the whole boot- only the on the trim so it's more like a regular boot (really cute though!) They are leather lined and are still comfortable but I'm a sucker for the full slipper shearling lining instead.
I love all of the animal print that is trending so I had to try these on. They definitely look better on than off! Comfortable, fit tts and a good heel for all day wear. Surprisingly neutral looking even with the exotic print. This is an update on animal print and an easy way to try tiger. BOUGHT.
I always pick up some new sneakers at the sale and this year it is the Adidas. I love the white/grey and they also come in black! These are unisex so they run really big. I went down to a size 7 when I normally wear an 8.5. BOUGHT.
This are the newer version of my favorite sandal from last year's sale. Marc Fisher is a great brand and the quality on these is fab. The stacked heel makes them really easy to walk in. Fit is really big so I sized down a full size. This is a great sandal for transitioning from Summer to Fall. BOUGHT.
These are my other favorite boot from the sale. I love how classy these neutral boots are. I purchased my regular size and they fit well. Comes in black as well but I love this neutral/nude color. BOUGHT.
Summer is flying by and somehow we're already cruising through July! July seems to be the month for travel- whether it be road trips, jetting off to the beach or heading out on a cruise. We are no exception as some of my boys head to Colorado with Soren this week and we all fly out to Utah later in the month. And while we won't exactly be road tripping anywhere in Soren's prized Wagoneer, we will be flying and traveling means packing. Today I'm partnering with Stitch Fix Kids to share how easy packing can be with just a few clicks! Plus enter to win a family vacation and Stitch Fix credit this month- read more for all of the details!
I don't know about you, but whenever I go to pack my family for a trip, there involves a whole lot of laundry and then frustration with even their clean clothes as I search for presentable items. We're traveling to Utah to see my extended family, many of which haven't seen some of my kids in years, so I want the boys to look decent! Their current drawer of Summer items is full of camp tee shirts and athletic shorts and if you know me at all, that won't cut it. I've found that to preserve my sanity I usually just order the boys each some new clothes online so that everything that we pack goes from packaging into the suitcase. It's clean, it has no holes and it coordinates. BUT- that online shopping (or in-store) takes time. This month I tried out Stitch Fix Kids for my packing prep and it was so much faster! To get set up for Stitch Fix Kids you first need to set up an account for each of your kiddos. (If you want to make your own packing easier too- you can order yourself a Stitch Fix box as well!) My boys helped me set up preferences on their style as we filled out their profile and then scheduled their fix. They were so excited when their boxes arrived- even Baker was giddy about seeing his new clothes! Each box contained 6-7 items for the each boy, plus a note from the stylist, stickers and more. Many of their items coordinated enough to mix and match and not going to lie- as soon as we took these pics, I put all of their new clothes right into packing cubes to save for our upcoming trip! I've talked about why I love Stitch Fix before, but Stitch Fix kids just may be my new go-to! Stitch Fix carries Kids sizes 2T-14 - in 40+ brands like Threads for Thought, Hurley, and Hanna Andersson, and more, as well as Stitch Fix Kids exclusive brand, Rumi + Ryder. Returns are super easy & free. You keep what you love, send back the rest in your pre-paid envelope at any USPS mailbox. Most of the pieces we got were between $12-34 and you receive a 20% discount on everything if you keep the whole box. There is no subscription is required; you can receive a Fix anytime you want - like when it's time for vacation or back to school. And this month, Stitch Fix has such a fun promotion happening! The Stitch Fix Summer Sweepstakes is your chance to create the best family vacation this summer! One grand prize winner will win $10,000 towards a family vacation, plus $1,000 in Stitch Fix credit. 12 others will win $250 in Stitch Fix credit, and 24 others will win $25 in Stitch Fix Credit. All you have to do is schedule a Kids Fix by July 13th to be entered to win! No purchase necessary. Ends 7/13/19 at 11:59PM ET. For rules and entry click here. Thanks for Stitch Fix for partnering on this content. As always all styling and opinions are my own.
One thing I love about the month of July is the Anniversary Sale! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts in just over a week and today I'm prepping you with what you need to know to shop the sale. If you've never shopped the sale I've got all the details, but if you always shop the sale I've got details for you too! I've navigated this sale for four years now and it's safe to say I've become a bit of an expert. Read on for the who, what, when, where and why of the most fun sale of the year!
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE ANNIVERSARY SALE?It's once a year unlike any other where the NEWEST FALL CLOTHES are on sale. This is the only sale where brand new items go on sale at the beginning of the season, rather than discounted at the end of the season. New fall shoes, clothes, hats, bags, accessories, kids' clothes, men's clothes, and beauty products are all on sale. Staple products from Nordstrom also go on sale during this period and I always stock up! Nothing makes July's heat seem more bearable than thinking forward to Fall!SALE DATES (Mark these on your calendars!)Icon Status: July 7-11 - for level 4 cardmembers onlyEarly Access: July 12-19 - for cardmembers onlyPublic Access: July 19-August 4Sale Prices End: August 4 DO YOU NEED A NORDSTROM CARD TO SHOP THE SALE?The very best deals or hottest items always sell out during the Early Access period. So, if you really want to shop the sale before things sell out, you’ll probably want to open a card. You can apply for one and as soon as you’re approved you can start shopping, even before your card arrives in the mail. I know it's another cc- I get it! But even if you only shop this sale every year, it's worth getting the card. You get access a full week early, you can order the items you want, and you earn points with your card that go toward Nordstrom cash later. Do yourself a favor and sign up here before July 10th and receive a $60 bonus note just for signing up! Also, it’s free to apply and there are no fees.HOW DO I SHOP THE ANNIVERSARY SALE?Your best shot of getting what you want is to shop the Early Access online that Friday morning. To shop in stores, the sale is sectioned off with yellow tape. Anyone can wander through the sale, but you’re not able to purchase anything from the sale unless you have a Nordstrom card. If you are a cardholder you get to pick a few days of the year to designate as your Triple Points Day. I always use the first day of the sale for mine because I spend the most money that day. Those points add up fast when they are tripled! WHAT PIECES ARE WORTH BUYING DURING THE SALE?This is the sale to look at investing and splurging on things like designer denim, leather bags, leather boots and solid, staple sweaters. Investment worthy items are on sale during the Anniversary Sale and I always pay close attention to those. I'm planning a blog post where I feature a few investment pieces. I'll also do a big designer denim post with try-on's during the first week of the sale. My favorite $200 jeans always go on sale and they are WORTH grabbing at 40-50% off! HOW CAN OLM HELP?Nordstrom is sometimes overwhelming to shop because there is so much, but the sale shrinks the selection and I'll help pick things out. The Anniversary Sale has thousands of items on sale. It's a lot to sort through- especially if you only shop at Nordstrom a few times a year. That's one reason I always put so much effort into filtering and sorting it out for you. I'll be shopping on Tuesday and will have a list of my faves up on on the blog like I did last year.Be sure to keep checking back here once the sale kicks off, I’ll be keeping close tabs on the sale and will be sharing all of my favorites! MY FAVORITES FROM LAST YEAR'S SALE:
I always pick up some new sneakers at the sale and last year it were these Adidas sneakers. I love the taupe/nude and the black!
This was my favorite leather jacket from last year's sale. It's buttery, easy to move in, and 100% leather.
These baby blankets are THE BEST blankets ever. If there is one baby item you buy, make it these. They last forever and still look new year's later. Don't waste your money on other baby blankets.
These were my FAVORITE shoes from last year's sale! Great shoes for transitioning from Summer to Fall.
There is almost always a really good camel color coat that sells out super early. This was last years and it was only $70!
This cardigan is one of my favorite sale purchases ever. I have it in multiple colors, it covers your bum and pairs well with the leggings I mentioned above! Don't forget about beauty products! Beauty Blenders are also something I buy every year. It's good to stock up on them. My favorite lotion is always on sale too! This stuff is worth its weight in gold.
My favorite $200 jeans always go on sale and they are WORTH grabbing at 40-50% off! Jeans are one item that I really do think you can use the "cost per wear" argument and get away with it. I literally wear jeans every day.
These throws are literally our favorite and they are part of the Nordstrom sale. They were only $25, they don't pill and they still look brand new a year later. We have them in six colors and counting. SHOP THE SALE CATALOG HERE. If you didn't already get one in the mail- you can see the sneak peek catalog for the sale here. I think it was styled to look pretty fashion-forward, but I promise there will be so many approachable pieces on sale too!
Happy fake-Friday! I'm all smiles over here about a three day workweek and all of the fun things we have planned for the weekend. We're staying in-town, but we'll be spending time with family, friends and doing all of the Summer activities we don't always get to do while Soren and I both work. I'm looking forward to time at the lake, barbeques with friends and a double date too. But to have all of that fun stress free, I did pack a lot of work into Monday through Wednesday this week and that meant recording a podcast (coming soon!), interviewing a few candidates, smelling scents for new N&S candles and styling today's business casual looks for you today. In today's post I'm working with Nordstrom to share two business casual looks with some great pieces that I think will work for most of the year and you can mix and match too!
SHOP THE POST
Lou & Grey Signaturesoft Split Neck Tee (wearing size xs) // 1901 4-Way Stretch Ankle Skinny Pants (wearing size 2) // Dolce Vita Renly Mule // Malibu Transparent Tote // Ray-Ban Standard Original 58mm Aviator Sunglasses This first look is pretty simple, but really classy and chic. This top is buttery soft and not sheer. It seems like it will wash up really well and I would say it fits big. I'm wearing an XS and it's still a loose fit. It also comes in three other colors and I would definitely consider getting the black one too! This top is a great basic and a cool take on an average tee. I paired it with easy black dress pants that are a great price point. I love the cropped length and I'd say they fit TTS (or a smidge big) as well. I am wearing a size 2, but I may have been able to wear a 0 with a snug fit. They also come in other colors, but the black ended up being my favorite. I love adding a leopard mule for a pop of print and a little bit of dainty jewelry to finish off the look.
CeCe Pleat Sleeve Collared Crepe Blouse (wearing size xs) // 1901 4-Way Stretch Ankle Skinny Pants (wearing size 2) // Woven Loafer Mule // Ray-Ban Standard Original 58mm Aviator Sunglasses This second look is a little more quirky, but I loved it! I was unsure of this top until I tried it on and then I was hooked! I got so many compliments on it and it really felt both authoritative but feminine too. It fit tts and is not sheer at all. I didn't need to wear an under tee and the fabric is a great black crepe. It will definitely wash up well! These pants are the same as in the first outfit and they are so versatile. I love the length and the pull on waist. They are super comfy! I paired them with flat white mules but I think you could put so many different shoes with this outfit. You could add a pop of color to the outfit or do a heeled sandal for more great outfits. I hope these work wear outfit ideas are helpful! They have been really fun to style and to wear as I find myself in more and more business casual situations, but the great thing is that many work wear pieces can be styled in different ways to date night or even casual looks too! Nordstrom has a great variety of blouses, closed-toed heels and slacks so expect to see me sharing more business casual pieces from there in the near future. And speaking of the near future....one time to shop for some of those great work wear items is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The sale starts next Friday for those with a Nordstrom Card, but I'll be shopping it Tuesday so that I can share sneak peeks and get my favorites collected to share! If you don't have a Nordstrom Card, now is the time to sign up. You can get a $60 Nordstrom note (in-store credit) to shop just for signing up now and having a card will allow you to shop the sale a week before everyone else. I've got a post coming Friday with all of the sale details so stay tuned and get your card now! Are you shopping the Anniversary Sale? Have you shopped it before?
This post was sponsored by Nordstrom. As always all styling and opinions are my own.
We're in the full swing of Summer over here and the weather is definitely heating up. I think there might actually be a heat advisory in place for the weekend, so my plans include drinking a ton of water and staying indoors! June has been a busy, but awesome month. I've loved all of the exciting projects we've been moving forward with at work and I've really, really loved all of the camps and activities that my boys have been trying out. This weekend they are performing in The Lion King Musical and I'm so proud of them for the work they have put into preparing for it. They've never done anything like it so these performances will be more "firsts" in their books. I just love it!
Thankfully most of June actually hasn't been too hot and I've been able to wear my usual uniform- jeans and a tee and even a few layers all month long. Today I'm partnering with Nordstrom to share my Summer uniform and other great pieces I'm loving this month from Nordstrom (like these metallic Birks and my favorite black romper!).
SHOP THE POST
I've gotten more on board with wearing shorts this Summer, but I'm still a fan of jeans year-round. This year I'm so happy to have found a white pair that I love. These Levi's are casual and have a great relaxed skinny fit - plus the perfect rips. They fit tts and are not see through. I like pairing them with basic tees like this one from Madewell at Nordstrom, but they also work well with blouses or a chambray shirt!
The gray tee I'm wearing today is also an amazing basic. It fits a little big (I'm wearing an XS here), but it's the perfect thickness and loose fit. I'm sure I don't need to describe all of the ways you could wear this one!
You all know my love for Birkenstocks, and I finally pulled the trigger on these metallic ones. I love the Rose Gold ones too, but Silver is more me. They fit TTS and I buy the regular width, not narrow. I've had a few questions about the white soles, but don't be concerned about them. A Magic Eraser easily wipes them clean again.
You may also notice I've added a few new layering necklaces to my daily outfits and after wearing them for a week straight, I can tell you these two are the perfect combination. I don't know about you but I struggle with buying necklaces that layer well together, so I just had to share once I found this gorgeous choker and necklace.
Below I'm sharing some other recent outfits from Nordstroms from Instagram and other days over the last few weeks. I think it probably helps to see things styled in real life, so see my outfits below to shop other current Nordstrom favs.
I can't believe June is nearly over, but since July is on its way whether we like it or not, we may as well start getting excited about the Anniversary Sale! It's the most fun sale of the year to shop and next week I'll be sharing a post all about why and how and when to shop. The biggest thing to consider now though is getting a Nordy Club Card so that you can shop the sale early. Early Access is the most fun time of the sale and often things sell out before Public Access begins. If you don't have a Nordstrom Card, but you shop there anyways, definitely sign up for one now. You'll get to shop the sale early and you'll earn points toward Nordstrom notes to use on future purchases.
