Happy Friday!! We have made it through the week so it is time to celebrate with one of my favorite dresses from the Gal Meets Glam Collection:) If you haven’t noticed, I have shared this dress on social media countless times. Call me an outfit repeater but when you invest in a piece of clothing, I believe you should get your money’s worth! Plus have you seen the dress? It is so flattering and beautifully made, who would not want to style this over and over again?

Dress: Gal Meets Glam // Shoes: Soludos // Bag: Amazon // Earrings: Lisi Lerch

Ever since Julia Engel announced that she was creating a dress line called Gal Meets Glam, I have been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting in anticipation of what they would look like! If there is one thing I knew, every detail would be thought out perfectly. Of course, this was no let down! Julia, herself, is such an inspiration to watch as she has grown her brand and business over the years. So it was no surprise that I was plopped on my computer minutes before the launch of her Gal Meets Glam April Collection and had to snatch up not only one but two of her dresses!

Now why might you ask have I chosen this one to be my favorite? Well first off the gingham… second off the buttons up the front… third off the flare of the skirt… last but not least the length of the dress! This just about sums up the reasons why you need this dress in your life haha. It should come as no surprise that this Gal Meets Glam dress will be the first thing I place right into my suitcase for my Europe trip! From the flow to the light weight material it will be perfect for exploring the streets of Lison:)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! This next week is going to be a crazy one as I prepare to be gone for over a month haha.

Dress: Gal Meets Glam Collection // Heels: Steve Madden (Similar HERE) // Purse: Le Parmentier // Earrings: Emerald & Shea

Welcome to a very special post that is something a little more personal today. The next chapter in my life! If you have not seen or read on social media, I will be graduating for the second time on Saturday:) To say this day is something I am excited for/incredibly nervous for all at the same time would be an understatement. A little back story, I went back to school after graduating in 2016 from OU and I got my master is Business Analytics from SMU. I spill out all the personal details about why I went back in a blog post I wrote a year ago that you can read HERE.

“Well what are you planning on doing after you graduate?”, is something you hear quite often and for the first time in my life I actually have a plan! Wow that sounds weird to say haha. Ever since I graduated in 2016 I have constantly been searching for my purpose or my passion. While I love this blog and so wish I could do it full time, I find it best to get real world experience first! So in July I will be heading into the big world of CONSULTING!!

I could not tell you how much of a relief it is knowing that this is something that I am truly excited for. I actually got offered the job back in October last year but it was contingent on me finishing my masters first. For some, traveling Monday – Thursday to clients sites might not be fun but to me it sounds like a blast! I have had internships where I sit at a desk for hours which has made me realize I need something very dynamic to keep me interested. It does not feel real that I will have to be a true (but not really) adult! For the past 17 years of my life I have had the security of knowing that school was where I was and every year I was going to be doing just that. Now “officially” entering the real world brings challenges of that security being taken away from me. I am nervous/excited all at the same time which feels so weird haha.

So why share the next chapter in my life? Well this blog is a little diary to me and going back and looking at the other “Next Chapter” posts has shown me how much I have grown over the years! Another reason I love to share “my story” is because I hope it inspires others. Taking leaps of faith in small or big ways can be so impactful down the road. When coming out of college I took a huge leap of faith with going back to school and now I find myself again taking another big leap jump starting my career. I am a big believer that we are our own biggest advocates so being able to invest in yourself and the dreams you have will take you further than you could imagine!

I would love to hear in the comments below if you have a “Next Chapter” happening in your life or simply how you are investing in yourself to live out your dreams!

PS. I got this dress from the Gal Meets Glam collection specially for my graduation:) I am beyond obsessed with the floral pattern and buttons down the front. I thought the dress was a perfect fit for starting a new beginning as Julia Engel has inspired so many with starting her dress collection!

Happy Monday! I know your probably wondering why I am already styling Memorial Weekend look… Well it might be 2 weeks away but there are so many cute dresses that I had to share:) Just like this button up dress from Nordstrom! I find Memorial Weekend to be the starting point of summer so I found this dress to be quite appropriate for the occasion. Everyone is heading out to the lake, pool or beach for the weekend so I wanted to style an easy look for all!

Dress: TopShop // Shoes: Tretorn // Purse: BP (Under $40!) // Bandana: Target
This TopShop Dress is a ripped material which makes it light weight and easy to wear anywhere. It’s fairly casual too so I paired it with white sneakers! Just a little side note, these shoes are AMAZING! I thought they looked a lot like converse at first but went ahead and got them anyway. They really surprised me because they actually look way more feminine and cute than I thought they would! Plus they are super comfy for running around town.
Anyway back to the dress! It is right on point with the latest trend because a button up dress is everything right now. It also ties on the shoulders for a dainty look. Which you know I love:) Because of the ripped material it is super bouncy!

Being festive with clothing you have can challenging though, just like Memorial Weekend looks. I am always the one that wants to go all out but hesitate when I see price tags. But you can definitely turn everyday clothing into festive wear! I would say all you need is a statement color, like red, blue or white. Then add on accessories such as lipstick, earrings, shoes and a purse for the other colors! I didn’t think this dress was super special until I grabbed a red bandana and some white shoes. Remember, simple accessories can be the key to creating a festive look from everyday pieces:)

Hope everyone is starting their week off on the right foot! I feel like this weekend has flown by, unfortunately. I have been spending a ton of time planning for our Europe trip and worrying about getting everything perfect. So much to do such little time haha.
We will be spending Memorial Weekend in Austin for the second year! Maybe we will make this a thing haha. Jeremy and I both love Austin a lot so I am excited for the plans we have:) What’s your plan for Memorial Weekend? Would love to hear in the comments!

Jeans: Levi’s Skinny Jeans  // Top: Zara (Similar HERE!) // Heels: Steve Madden // Purse: SheIn // Lips: Mac Lipstick Viva Glam II // Sunnies: BP (Similar HERE, $12!)

Happy Monday, girlies!! Today I am styling this tucked in striped look that I wore over the weekend. I was never a big tucking in person even though my mom always begged me to when I was little haha. Well here ya go mom, I finally enjoy tucking in a t-shirt into jeans:) haha I think it gives my body more shape and dresses up a simple tee. I used to think that tucking in a tee was for moms who had mom jeans and tons of kids haha but boy am I wrong! Personally I would probably only ever tuck it in if I had high waist jeans on because it makes your legs look super long! This 5’3 girl needs all the help can get!!

Many a time I have shared my love for anything striped and with summer slowly creeping to an end I am reaching for it more and more. Something super classy about nautical stripes that just scream summer to me. Maybe the reason I keep gravitating towards them is because I don’t want to let go of all the hopes/excitement summer brings! But I will say as I am working towards transitioning my wardrobe to fall (which I will be sharing later on this week) I get incredibly exciting for sweaters and pumpkin spice. Since we won’t be traveling as much this fall with my school schedule, I am hoping that we can do a ton of really fun fall things in Dallas! Then again the fall mean hikes to me so we might just have to take a trip to Colorado for a quick weekend getaway;)

Hope everyone has a fantastic week! I am starting school (never thought I would say that again) today and super nervous/excited for how these next few months are going to! Wish me luck haha

It is almost exactly one year ago, I sat down to write my first “The Next Chapter…” post about where I was headed/doing after graduating college (You can view it HERE). It is crazy to think after just one year, I have a new adventure I will be embarking on this fall! This post might get a little long so I apologize before hand haha.

Come August 21st, I will officially start my biggest journey yet of going back to school and getting a Masters of Science in Business Analytics from SMU (My undergrad was Mathematics from OU)! It is honestly so crazy to say that I am headed back to school because I was that person who said “I am never doing this school thing again!” Well now I am really eating my own words so I guess moral of the story is never say never. To be completely honest I came out of college thinking I would find a job, move into an apartment, and start my life… boy was a way wrong. It was actually really hard for me to accept that I was going to be taking a much different path than most of my friends. If you read the first “The Next Chapter…” you will know right after graduating from college I traveled for my sorority all over the country for 9 months educating and talking to women on different campuses. Even after those 9 months, I still had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do/where I wanted to be in life.

I was super late in deciding to go back to school haha. I’m talking applications were due 2 months from when I made my final decision. That included, recommendation letters, essays, and GMAT testing. Fast forward two months, everything turned in a week before it was due and went in for an in person interview a couple days later. I only applied to one school (Southern Methodist University) so everything was riding on this one decision. I can barely make a decision about what to eat for lunch let alone what I would be doing for a full year haha. Anyway, I received an email with my acceptance letter exactly one year to the day that I graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Funny part was I was in Norman, OK celebrating my best friends graduation so I guess you can say it was meant to be:)

My choice to go back to school was not an easy one at all but I had a dream of working for a big company in hopes of one day reaching an executive level. After doing tons of research and mapping out how I thought I could reach these goals I came to the hard conclusion that this was the best route for me. I by no means think that I am the smartest person in the room because school is actually a huge weakness of mine but a weakness is something I wont let defy me.

I am a big believer in making your own way in this world (with help from friends & family of course!) and continuously challenging or putting yourself outside your comfort zone gives you the ability to reach those goals/dreams.Starting this blog was a big part of me getting outside my comfort zone and trying something new. This blog was started in hopes of traveling more and sharing those experiences while exploring my more creative side hence the title of my blog:) After realizing I didn’t travel enough to have consistent posts, I moved into something I have always had a passion for, fashion, and decided to put myself out there as a fashion blogger.

While I understand that not everyone wants to start a blog or go back to school, I want to challenge each of you to find a passion in something and let that passion drive you to succeed. It’s really easy to get comfortable and accept things around us as it being what it is. There are so many opportunities out there and with a little bit of faith and a huge amount of motivation, those opportunities can be one of yours. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be a massive life change but it can be something small that eventually snow balls into a dream or goal you never thought possible.

I honestly could not tell you where I will be a full year from now but what I do know is that taking this step outside of my comfort zone can only help me achieve what I want in life. I know this isn’t your typical “fashion blogger” post but I hope that through this you can find your own motivation/passion:) Hope everyone has a really great rest of the week!

Floor Length Dress: Make Me Chic [c/o] (Exact Same HERE) (ONLY $23!!) // Heels: Steve Madden // Earrings: Lisi Lerch [c/o] // Lips: Stila ‘Perla’

It’s Monday again:( But I do have a fun post today about cute looks for a summer wedding! Anyone else feel like Facebook has turned into a place where everyone shares engagement or babies? Honestly it should be called Engagementbook or Babiebook haha! My entire feed is full of weddings after babies after weddings! But if I am being honest I don’t really mind it because I am a sucker for beautiful wedding gowns and colorful bridesmaid dresses! I am that girl who has an entire board on Pinterest dedicated to what I want my wedding to look like one day (A girl can dream, right?). You can see the board HERE!

Since planning a wedding isn’t in my future anytime soon, I will settle for looking for that perfect summer wedding look! There are so many different types of dresses out there and finding one for the occasion can be super tricky. Also you can end up spending ungodly amounts of money but to me it isn’t really worth it, if its for one time use!

I found this one off of Make Me Chic and was not expecting it to be that great of quality due to the price being so low. To my major surprise it was really stunning and flattering in person!! I threw it on and knew it would be great for a summer wedding attire. It is a long dress and not every wedding is perfect for a longer dress but if you have one I highly recommend this one! The floral pattern is obviously my favorite part and I love how it comes high up on your arms so the straps don’t fall down. That’s a big plus because dancing the night away can definitely get super intense and straps falling all the time are no fun!

Have a wonderful week! Hopefully we don’t all melt away with this extreme heat down south! Haha I love to sit outside and eat lunch/brunch with friends but these past couple weeks, I am all about that 60 degree AC!

SheIn: Striped Bandeau Top & Ruffle Short Skirt [c/o] // Heels: Sam Edelman // Purse: Red Dress Boutique // Hat: Brixton // Lips: MAC Lipstick “Mehr”

Happy Wednesday, friends! Today I wanted to quickly talk about this adorable summery two piece set for only $30! I know I have been sharing so many fall pieces lately and to be honest I feel like I am missing out on all the summer that is left. Texas heat is still getting up to over 100 degrees so fall clothing is not going to cut it for a while around here haha. My favorite thing about this set was the slit up the front. If it had not been there I think the whole set would have looked a little boxy. What was very interesting was the shorts underneath. At first I was worried they would look weird but since the slit is so high, it makes the skirt appropriate!

On the sizing of the two piece, I wish I had sized up one because the skirt was a little tight to zip up.
Overall the material was pretty high quality and would totally pack it for a fun beach trip! Also loved that the stripes went down instead of across to make you look longer! I hate when I find a cute striped top and then realize the stripes are horizontal haha. They always end up making me look bigger than I am… or I think they do!

A little side note but these past couple weeks have honestly just been go, go, go! No matter how much planning and preparing I do, I am still chasing my tail. Trust me my “To Do List” is miles long and I can not seem to complete one thing before adding 5 more! Is this adulting? Endless “To Do Lists”? haha cause I really don’t like it! Anyway, I am sure some of y’all are like I could care less but just thought I would share some real life struggles:)

Thanks for stopping by and let me ramble on;) Hope y’all enjoy this summery look as much as I do after seeing so much fall items!

Dress: Forever21 (Only $20!) // Heels: Marc Fisher // Purse: Michael Kors // Sunnies: BP. (Similar HERE for $12!) // Earrings: Kendra Scott

It is finally Friday! I could honestly scream and shout because I am so excited haha. There isn’t even much going on this weekend but I am so pumped to sit around and do nothing:) Between friends coming in town and traveling, I don’t even feel like my weekends have been my little break time! So this weekend I told myself I am doing nothing haha. I love being busy but its good for the soul to take a break sometimes:)

Okay now that I rambled on, lets get to this fun off the shoulder dress! I was walking through the mall and decided to stop in Forever 21 (which I never do because the store gives me major anxiety! Anyone else?) when I came across this olive green off the shoulder dress! Jeremy was on the phone with me so I told him how cute it was but it was olive green so I didn’t think I was going to get it. Now, I am one who loves the color olive green because it goes so well for redheads but I always found it to be a fall color. I put it down and continued browsing but didn’t find anything I liked. I kept walking back over to it and telling Jeremy how much I loved it. Pretty sure he got sick of hearing me say it so many times, he was like “would you buy it already?!?”.

I believe the olive green dress was only $20 so I thought what the heck, let’s try it out! I am always up for a challenge when styling something not in season. Browns are my go to any season so adding in lighter summery browns to an olive green look was where I started. I added my hair up for a summery feel and some big sunnies. I loved the off the shoulder look a lot this summer and having your hair up really shows on your shoulders more! (Remember in high school when you had dress code that couldn’t show off your shoulders? haha guess they are sexy or something!) Plus in this 106 degree weather my hair normally ends up in a bun on the top of my head away!

After styling this one dress, I have found so many other olive green pieces that would be super cute this summer! I have linked them all for you so just click the little right arrow to scroll through them:)

** This post was sponsored by Kohl’s. I received the included bralettes as compensation. As always all opinions are my own. **

Juniors’ SO Bras: Wire Free Lounge Plunge Bralette (Nude) // Juniors’ SO Bras: Lace Plunge Bralette (Blush & Grey) // Juniors’ Candie’s Bras: Eyelash Lace Bralette (White) // Juniors’ Candie’s® Bras: Padded Lace Bralette (Black)

This might be a little TMI but fun fact I actually haven’t worn a bra in over 2 years haha! I only wear sticky boobs as I like to call them. They are not the most supportive things and don’t always work with some of my favorite summer pieces unfortunately but they are not restricting with wires all over the place and don’t dig into your ribs when you sit down!

That is honestly the worst feeling… sitting all day and your wired bra digging into you, so I said I was giving up on bra’s all together. I thought who needs a bra anyway?! They aren’t comfy and the straps fall off the shoulder all day and the whole thing just puts me in a frustrated mood so I threw them all away!

I feel like this is a struggle bus that most women are on! Personally, I was all about my sticky boobs but boy do they not give any support what so ever and some of my favorite summer pieces are see through which if you know what sticky boobs are they are not the most eye appealing things haha. Oh the struggles! So when Kohl’s reached out to me about their bralette collection I was very curious to see if this could be the trick of the trade for me to find comfy support without the restriction that go beautifully under some of my favorite summer pieces. After looking through their collection online, I decided to order a couple of the bralettes and test them out to see if this really could be the life changing moment!

Well you guessed it! It 100% was! I could not have been happier with all the bralettes and was blown away by the support, style and comfiness of all three of them:) For someone who is very very picky, that threw her bras away and lived without them for the past 2 years this is huge! Since I am a big believer that comfy and style can go hand in hand, I wanted to share my top three bralettes from the Kohl’s Collection so you too can hop off the struggle bus:)

  1. Juniors’ SO Bras: Wire Free Lounge Plunge Bralette – This nude bralette from SO has no wires, razor back straps and huge’s every curl perfectly! I love the nude color because it goes really really well under all my summer white’s but it does come in a ton of other colors too. I wish y’all could truly feel how soft the bralette is! I wear it to work all the time and honestly forget I had it on because it doesn’t feel heavy or uncomfortable. In my books the best kind of bra is the bra you forget your wearing!
  2. Juniors’ SO Bras: Lace Plunge Bralette – Next is this Lace Plunge barrette that I got in blush and grey! I love the plunging neckline and how it is padded for extra support. The lace detailing is so beautiful. I styled it under one of my favorite summer white tops because it hangs off the shoulder a little. The worst is when you have an off the shoulder top and you have to wear a strapless bra that digs into you all the time. Styling your favorite Kohl’s bralettes will 100% save the day:)
  3. Juniors’ Candie’s Bras: Eyelash Lace Bralette – Last but not least, I fell in love with this white eyelash lace bralette. It is incredibly soft and hits perfectly around the rib cage so it doesn’t feel super tight but gives plenty of support. The white bralette is such a staple piece in a summer wardrobe! It is one that I go to grab constantly to wear under summer dresses/tops. Oh and its lined too which is a huge plus for me because ain’t nobody trying to see all that haha;)

Have fun checking out the Kohl’s Bralette Collection! Thanks for stopping by and spending some of your day with me:)
