NZFW Day 2; This is one of those rare Fashion Week years, where we have decent weather for the majority of the shows, something must've made Mother Nature happy. Fingers and toes crossed, decided to wear something a little out of the blue but still that palette that comes naturally. Short skirt and classic schoolgirl length socks- but make it fashion. Here I present to you the look for New Zealand Fashion Week Day 2. The clearly absent Day 1, reigns taken by duty that calls elsewhere. // Images Photographed by Wono Kim for GRAZIAand Rebecca Zeyphr Thomas for VIVA.
Since almost the beginning of my Fashion Week days; around 2015 or so, Wono Kim had always been what we call the essential and epitome of perfect NZFW street style photographer - Always on the sidelines, almost invisible to the crowd that are so hungry for images of their outfit they picked out weeks ago for that very day. No stress, all were taken, including full denim ensemble picked out that very morning. Possibly one of the kindest photographers out there, the below and above photographed by Wono Kim for GRAZIA 2018. Continue for outfit details.
When you were younger, people tell you to have a 'signature' fragrance, something for people to remind them of you, something to stick to. Why not do more of that - "Trends come and go, seasons come and go", but what does that even mean? The phrase gets thrown around in a negative connotation, it doesn't always mean what it means on the surface. Trends come and go, but what the individual values and feels isn't something that can be timestamped. The 'business bag' was a trend when C[é]line took number one at helm years ago, hoops were big in the 90s - Yes, trends come and go, but no one says that about a fragrance. Fragrance aside, invest in the pieces that are uniquely you, the ones that cannot be timestamped on your own accord. Invest in the pieces that you'll spend your hourly on something that can be worn for years on end, without looking back and saying "It was a trend". Here I present to you the pieces that should be making your signature, all can be found at Smith & Caughey's. Continue for more. //Photographed by Wono Kim @ W Studio
From what I thought would be a week-before-fashion week routine turned into a month long one thanks to Smith & Caughey's; It’s taken my whole life to figure out what it takes to bring my skin and general health to a steady wavelength. It’s taken me years to realize what’s consumed reflects on the outside. In this career driven modern renaissance of photographing this, editing that and posting there, there's 'no time' to start thinking about inner health, let alone what's on the outside. An eye opening experiment showed me there's always time. What with the experiment? It took a record-breaking week of good skin, then suddenly consuming food from a chain with the golden arches. You know what happened next. Here I present you my Beauty Call Sheet 2018, finally finding the solutions that works. It's important to remember we're made up of 50-60% water; respect that, and put only the best in your body and system. Tried and true, mostly organic, this is the routine I've been following for the past month, will never go back. Continue for more, all linked below.
Up until it was a common-sense quote, "Quality over quantity" had been thrown around, attached to that is the most valuable meaning. Then what comes after that, "Affordable over expensive"?; The dream girl and guy that exists is one that knows how to evaluate what is truly worth your time and money - The rise of what seems to be Lysts' hottest brands and items is a true testament to what society values today; that pattern of spending money on pieces that would stand the test of time and wear is what seems to be driving that 'expensive' side of 'quality'. But would you rather spend your hard earned tax return funds on something that would break easily or spend a little extra for one that lasts. The dream girl and guy that exists is explored further in this shoot next to my previous. 'Phase Two' further uncovers that dream human that is Izzi Zigan - Putting important on those investment pieces. Photographed at the same location, I shoot my top investment pieces every one should own... maybe minus that $1,300 Versace plate but if you have that extra money to spare, by all means go for it. Just save a little, then pull the plug on something that will last a lifetime. The continuation story of the dream human of Smith & Caughey's, the place of quality at all affordances and plus currently having the biggest sale of a lifetime. This is something I've wanted to shoot for a while; the hero items in my life that have been given a permanent fix to both my work ethics and drive. Those pieces of jewellery you wear from day to day and feels weird when you forget it at home? These are those. Those pieces of jewellery that is your subtle replacement for a 'power suit'? These are those. Shot within the hidden gem in Smith & Caughey's floor high up the ground with the New York state of mind, here I present to you a shoot for my beautiful friends at Smith & Caughey'sfeaturing my stand out pieces since forever ago. Everything featured in this shoot from jewellery to clothing are linked below. It's not often my friends appear here; A couple of years ago, maybe three, being invited an intimate lunch with the New Zealand industries top players made me not know how to be present. In those situations all you can do is nod your way through. Knowing they were all there for a purpose instilled this idea of not belonging but sat across the table was this girl. Not knowing what she did showed my lack of consciousness, but in that lunching learned this TV & Radio powerhouse not only looked like the Olsen twins, but delivers the perfect structure of inspiration and charisma: Driven. This shoot is a nod to all those encouraging like what GT is and was. Let Gracie show you the drive and strength this woman showed me at that lunch. // Photographed by yours truly, Make-up by Bobbi Brown New Zealand, and Dressed by Harman Grubiša.
There's been a lot going on lately, in a good way; There are days you feel completely out of your consciousness. Those days where you just reach the end of the sunset and think about where all your hours went. For the first time in my life those days have consecutively, for a couple of months, been gone. Here's to hoping that lasts. The social media hiatus that occurred in my life earlier this year brought me to a place where I can think, build my own opinions & plans, and live in the moment. By 'think' it's more a mental state. Not being influenced by too much of one thing [, because that's never healthy] in a way where it limits your thought capacity. It's more the open-minded state you'd get if you were a little less 'influenced' by everything else, that way you have creative freedom to have a blank canvas for your brain to draw on. Taking that mindset into consideration, my mind wondered off into this; the New York state of mind in little Auckland, New Zealand. This is called my power suit for a strong state of mind. // Photographed bySam Lee on film.
