Valid

I have been meaning to write this blog feature for ages, but school holidays, work and various other commitments always seem to get in the way….

but here we are and I’m so looking forward to sharing my secret top tips on finding designer & costume jewellery such as

CHANEL, GIVENCHY, DIOR, FENDI, CELINE & YSL at bargain prices.

I’ve previously mentioned that I’m a HUGE fan of vintage clothing and jewellery #justcallmemagpie

In this article, I will let you in on my favourite websites to stalk. I’ve done all the hard work so you don’t have to!

So, my FIRST favourite websites to for finding the perfect piece of jewellery is eBAY.

I’ve been using this site for years and have found that the easiest way to find the best items is to type the following into the search box….

“Vintage Chanel”, YSL, Dior earrings, bracelet, necklace, etc. Try and make it as specific as you can so thousands of items don’t come up.

I always use the “sort by” feature, which lets you sort the items by price, cheapest or most expensive and postage costs.

These vintage amethyst beauties are unnamed but were so stunning & at under $30 NZ dollars including postage, I  just had to have them!

Tip: Look out for the “wear and tear” in the description, if they are clip-on earrings ask the seller if they still fasten securely.

My SECOND fave website is NZ based TRADE ME

The Mawi emerald bracelet, vintage Chanel earrings, YSL Lapis Lazulis Arty ring were all treasures found on e-Bay & Trade Me.

Givenchy earrings and necklace as seen here… all e-Bay again. The YSL vintage bracelet was a Trade Me find.

My THIRD top pick site is ETSY

You will definitely find something stunning on this well laid out, easy to navigate oldy but goody.

My FOURTH top website pic is VESTIAIRE COLLECTIVE

The pieces tend to be a bit more expensive on here, but the quality will be excellent and you can always return the item if something is wrong.

So that’s it! My top four places to find costume jewellery at a fraction you would pay from an expensive boutiuqe or on-line store.

I hope this blog post has been helpful. I’d love to know how you get on with your vintage finds, please send me photos! C x

A close friend of mine recently asked me which highlighters and bronzers were my favourites to use during the hot summer months.

I had a good look in my makeup drawer and found quite a few that I’ve tried over the years… some amazing, and some not so amazing!

In this latest blog post, I’ll share my fave hero makeup bronzers, illuminators, highlighters, fragrances and hair care products.

Basically everything you will ever need to shimmer & shine in the summer sun!

An all-time favourite and a highlighter I’ve been using for the past five years is Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow

Another CT miracle product is one that my sister bought me for Christmas last year…Wonder Glow.

It gives a lovely dewy finish underneath foundation or a tinted moisturizer Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow

Tom Ford and Gorgio Armani know how to create beautiful subtle glowing products that aren’t too greasy or shiny.

I only discovered this winning product this year Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Glow Stick

The dual-ended cheek stick adds definition, luster and illumination anywhere you want it.

Lancome’s Custom Drops Liquid Highlighter is another must-have product,

adding just one drop of this to your chosen foundation will give your skin an instant lift.

To get the sought after ‘Armani Glow’ (yes this is really a thing!) look no further than Giorgio Armani’s Fluid Sheer

L’Occitane Terre de Lumiere

I adore this fragrance with zesty and aromatic top notes, delicate aromas of lavender, honey and almond from the South of France.

Just one spritz conjures up feelings of a long lazy summer holiday.

Add instant gloss to your hair with Kerastase Elixir Ultime

& an instant sheen to your skin with the divine smelling Terre de Lumiere Body Milk by L’Occitane

Another favourite of mine from Mr Armani is CC Luminessence Cream

This fab all-in-one product revives tired skin and adapts to any skin tone.

Tom Ford’s Soleil Contouring Compact is pure perfection TF Soleil Compact

These cream like powders glide on effortlessly and give you an instant healthy glow.

Just as if you’ve been in the Med for a week!

So that’s my round up of my top picks to give yourself a touch of glamour and just off the yacht feeling.

I hope you’ve found it useful, would love to know about any ‘can’t live without’ products you use. x

To say I’m in love with the latest makeup and fragrance range by Mr Ford is a bit of an understatement.

When these little beauties arrived in their glossy white box with gold edging, I literally gasped for air!

Meet the Soleil Contouring Compact, Shade & Illuminate Glow Stick 01, Nudiste Lipstick and Eau De Soleil Blanc Fragrance.

Just one spritz of the perfume takes me back to The Med, where Mr Ford got his inspiration for this collection.

I feel incredibly lucky to have spent the morning with the beautiful mother of three Tiffany Jeans,

founder of the exquisite fine candle & fragrance store Curionoir

Tiffany took me through her collection of carefully crafted parfums, created in collaboration with Perfumers in France.

Blended with memories, dreams, and emotions and with names like Tobacco Night, Tubereuse Noir, Gardenia’s Shadow, Diaphanous & Black Spice,

you know that each parfum is going to be something special.

Stepping into this dimly lit shop just off Ponsonby Road is truly a magical experience.

Behind the mysterious thick velvet curtains, you are greeted by rows and rows of glimmering, shining jewel-toned bottles.

I’m not sure what took my breath away first, the sight of these luxurious vessels or the delicious smells they exuded.

I do love a good story, and this is up there with the best of them…

Once upon a time, there lived a man called Max.

Dr. Max Huber was a NASA Astrophysicist who suffered burns due to an experiment that went wrong.

He spent many many hours trying to find a cure for his scars. Dr. Huber lived near the sea

and noticed that the sailors had sun damaged skin everywhere apart from their arms.

It turned out that these sailors wrapped their forearms in sea kelp. Light bulb moment!

After years of experiments, ‘Miracle Broth’ was born…

A potent blend of natural sea kelp, vitamins, and other secret pure ingredients.

Dr. Huber named this miracle healing cream, Crème de la Mer.

I can see where the inspiration for the deep Azure blue & Sea greens of the packaging came from,

and now after seeing the blush pink shades inside my shells, I think this must be where the colour for the famous logo was born.

There’s nothing quite like using this beautiful cream. The texture, and the smell!

And so the Crème de La Mer devotees all lived happily ever after.

THE END

Crème de la Mer

I’ve recently been reading a great deal about the research carried out on blue light emitted from our devices (it was a real shock to find out these facts!). The studies show that blue light may give off infrared radiation and could have harmful effects on the skin such as premature ageing. When you’re looking at computer screens and other digital devices that emit significant amounts of blue light, this unfocused visual “noise” reduces contrast and can contribute to digital eye strain.

The research shows that to help reduce the negative side effects from blue light we must ensure our daily regime includes a good topical antioxidant and a sunscreen.

Make-up also helps to create a barrier between our skin and the blue light/ infrared emitted by devices that form a significant part of our daily life from phones, iPads, laptops and screens.

The ANR Eye Supercharged Synchronised Recovery Complex has been proven to…..

  • REPAIR Dramatically reduces the look of every key sign of eye ageing, including puffiness, lines and dryness.
  • BRIGHTENS DARK CIRCLES in just 3 weeks.
  • HYDRATES for 24 hours thanks to a potent hydration booster, including Hyaluronic Acid.
  • PREVENTS free radical damage with 8-hour anti-oxidant power—part of our multi-action anti-pollution defense technology.

I’ve been using this incredible eye serum for the past two weeks, and it has without a doubt helped to diminish the fine lines around my eyes and help keep that delicate area hydrated.

So, after reading all about the blue light damage, I’m going to make sure I keep on using

Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex Synchronised Recovery.

I remember the first time my dad took me to a vintage market in East London like it was yesterday.

I was six years old and the thrill and excitement of finding treasure amongst hundreds of items was a feeling that has stayed with me after all these years.

The first brooch to add to my collection, and the one that caught my eye on that day with dad is one of my favourite possessions,

(you can see it here bottom right on the clutch).

Instead of keeping these glittering beauties hidden in a dark cupboard, I thought I’d add them to a plain black satin clutch and

take them out for the night. I don’t think I’ve ever received so many compliments on an evening bag!

Top Dodo Bar Or

Satin trousers Witchery

Shoes Giuseppe Zanotti

Earrings Lovisa

I’d love to hear about any ideas you have on how to update a fashion item x
