Hi Beauties!

You can create the perfect eyeshadow palette just for you with the Make Up For Ever (MUFE) range of Artist Color Shadows.  There are over one hundred shades to choose from; 121 shades to be exact.  It features a new smooth, buttery texture 12-hour wear formula.  With five finishes - matte, diamond, metallic, iridescent and satin - to create your personalized shadow palette.  The first letter of each shade represents the finish.  For example, M stands for metallic.  The customizable palettes are available in five refillable options, single, duo, trio, quad, and six pans.   The single shadows retail for $22 CAD but are priced at a better value when you purchase two or more shades with the palettes.

M820 - Dark Purple Pink - is a medium pink with warm undertones and a matte finish.  It has an opaque pigmentation and a smooth texture but felt dense in the pan.  It wasn't as easy to blend as I would like but looks beautiful in the crease.

I918 - Lavender - is a medium lavender with an iridescent shift.  The shade is pigmented and has a smooth texture.  It's a beautiful purple shade for the lids and lower lash line.

ME912 - Orchid - a vibrant magenta shade that has a metallic sheen but it's not overly shiny.  It had a rich colour payoff and blended well.

L-R: M820, I1918 and ME912

Overall, I'm pleased with the shadows that I chose.  They were pigmented with no fallout or powderiness in the pan.  I'm able to complete an entire eye look with the three shades that I chose.  The purple/pink shades look beautiful together.  You can shop the Artist Color Shadows at sephora and makeupforever.com.

Hi Beauties,

I attended the Physicians Formula 2018 launch event late last year.  There were so many new releases reflecting healthy beauty.   It was great to see the brand focusing more on skincare products this year.  They also launched a new foundation and liquid lipsticks which I haven't tested.  Today I will be sharing a few innovations that I've been enjoying.

Butter Highlighter - $15.99 CAD

We've seen the brand's butter blushes and bronzers and now they have released Butter Highlighters.  They are available in five shades with the newest Iridescence shade added to the line.  It has a cream-to-powder formula with a unique bouncy texture that melts into skin.  The highlighter is creamy and pigmented.  The Iridescence highlighter is a beautiful purple shade.  The highlighters are packed with nutrient and hydrating ingredients from the Amazon – Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter.

Brow Last Long Wearing Brow Gel - $15.79 CAD

The brow gel is water-resistant, transfer-proof and budge-proof.  It contains brow-enhancing ingredients like Vitamins B & E to nourish, condition and strengthen brows.  My brows stay in place for hours whenever I wear this gel.  I love using it on gym days when I plan on getting my sweat on.  There are four available shades ranging from Blonde to Dark Brown;  I use shade Dark Brown.  It comes with an angled brush that should be used to apply hair-like strokes and then use the spoolie it comes with tow blend the product in.  I don't use the brush as I find too much product comes out and it can be messy.  I prefer to dip the spoolie directly into the bottle to pick up the product and run the bristles through my brows.

Organic Wear Rose Oil Lip Polish - $9.95 USD

I'm a huge fan of lip scrubs and this lip polish is made with all organic ingredients like rosehip oil, raw sugar, shea butter and coconut oil.  It is a gentle exfoliator that helps to replenish and nourish the lips.  Not to mention, it smells yummy!

Spotlight Illuminating Primer - $19.99 CAD

This primer is universally flattering that is said to blur, correct and protect the skin.  It contains tiny shimmers that give a subtle radiant glow.  You can wear it under your makeup or mix it with your foundation.  It is enriched with antioxidants and age-defying actives to protect the skin against environmental aggressors.  It also includes five filtering pearls to improve the appearance of skin tone making the complexion more bright.

Rose All Day Oil-Free Serum - $19.99 CAD

The serum is enriched with antioxidants and nourishing rosewater to balance skin tone.  The rosewater is said to reduce redness for those who suffer from eczema and rosacea.  It has a pearlescent formula that can be used as a makeup primer or an addition to your skincare routine.  It is lightweight and has a pleasant smell.  It is formulated with antioxidant-rich Goji and Kakadu Plum – the richest Vitamin C source of any fruit for tightening and brightening properties.

Refreshmint Cucumber & Bamboo Eye De-Puffer - $15.79 CAD

This stick is an instant pick me upper.  It has a cooling and fast-absorbing formula.  I like to use it in the morning to de-puff my eyes.  It contains peppermint, cucumber, and aloe vera to cool skin and reduce the appearance of tired eyes.  As well as bamboo and glacial mineral water to refresh skin.

Charcoal Detox Cleansing Stick - $9.10 CAD

This treatment stick is made with purifying charcoal for deep pore cleansing.  The stick is meant to draw out dirt, oil and impurities.  It contains bamboo charcoal, natural exfoliating minerals, and nourishing artichoke leaf.

You can shop these new releases at www.physiciansformula.com and drugstores nationwide.

Hi Beauties!

For spring 2018, NYX Cosmetics has revealed their Love You So Mochi line.  Included are eyeshadow and highlighter palettes that feature a marshmallow-like texture that was inspired by the Japanese treat Mochi.  Also included in the line are brand new powder lip creams.  I had the opportunity to play with the products in this collection at their media event and today I will be sharing my review and swatches with you.  There is also a giveaway at the end of this post.

Love You So Mochi Eyeshadow Palettes - $25 CAD

NYX wants us to explore a rainbow of colour with these new palettes.  The palettes are available in two gorgeous colour combinations.  The Electric Pastels Palette includes shimmery pastels and pops of colour.  The Sleek and Chic Palette includes peach and neutral undertones.  Each palette features 10 bouncy and silky shadows in a range of shimmers.  The Sleek and Chic Palette has warm tones and is ideal for everyday soft looks.  The palette contains one matte shade and the rest are shimmers.  The Electric Pastels Palette has a mix of warm and cool tones and is ideal for days you want to add some pop of colour to your look.  This palette is all shimmers.  The shadows have a soft texture and apply best with your fingers.  Accordingly to the NYX pro artist that attended the event, the shadows are meant to give you a soft flush of colour, without being too pigmented.  The palettes are not stand alone palettes as another palette is needed for the crease to complete a look.  I've been wearing The Sleek and Chic Palette more often than the other.  The shadows wear for 6 hours before fading.

Sleek and Chic Palette

Electric Pastels Palette

Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream - $12 CAD

These new lippies allow you to powder your pout!  The formula goes on like a mouse like texture and dries to a soft powdery finish.  It features a pillowy cushion applicator.  There are "eight vibrant shades from warm peach to true red, and hot pink to cool plum—for an irresistible, just-kissed look".  The applicator resembles a powder puff, hence the name.  You just need to squeeze the tube until the colour appears.  If you squeeze too much it will provide a more pigmented look as opposed to the flush of colour.  It's really what your preference is.  It gives the look you get after your lipstick has been worn down a bit after wear.  The formula is creamy and applies evenly to the lips.  The lip creams are comfortable to wear.  I find that some shades settle in the lip lines after a few hours of wear more than some others.

Cool Intentions, Best Buds, Squad Goals, Moody, Pop Quiz, Puppy Love, Teenage Dream and Group Love

There are also two highlighter palettes in the Love You So Mochi line.  One is a cool tone and the other is more warm toned.  They feature the same pillowy texture as the eye shadows.  I will update this post once I receive the palettes.

GIVEAWAY:

- One winner will receive The Electric Pastels Palette and six Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams

- Must be following me on Instagram - mybeautyfavs

- Tag two friends in the comments and use #MBFXNYX on the above picture posted on my IG

Hi Beauties!

I recently received the most amazing PR package from Pixi Beauty with included their Rose Essence Collection.  The skin treats inside are all rose infused.   Included was their Rose Caviar Essence Serum, Rose Flash Balm and the MatteLast Liquid Lip. Today I will be sharing my review of the MatteLast Liquid Lips along with swatches.

The MatteLast Liquid Lip retails for $14 USD.  The liquid lips are infused with rosehip oil and are available in six shades.  The coral, pink and nude shades are beautiful and wearable.  They are also very comfortable to wear.  The formula is thin and has a watery consistency that is full of pigment.  It glides on smoothly and evenly with one application.  They have a semi-matte finish and dry quickly.  The liquid lipstick isn't heavy or overly drying with minimal transfer.  The pointy applicator is very easy to use to outline the lips.  It fits my lip shape perfectly.

I'm really enjoying the formula and colour range of the MatteLast Liquid Lips.  You can shop them at Pixibeauty.com and Target.

Have you tried these?

Hi Beauties!

As a Canadian, I'm so glad that ColourPop is readily available at Sephora.  The selection is limited but we do avoid the shipping and duty fees which can end up costing a leg and an arm for such affordable products.  I recently purchased the Semi-Precious Eye Shadow Palette and I couldn't be more happy with it.  The palette retails for $33 CAD and $26 USD at Sephora (currently sold out on the Canadian site) and Colourpop.com.   Luckily for me I was able to snag it on sale on Sephora.  I will be sharing my review along with swatches below.

The palette was inspired by celestial lights and stars.  It contains eight jewel-toned shimmery metallic shades in blues, teals, reds, greens, pinks and golds.  The palette is housed in a slim blue cardboard packaging with rose gold accents.  It does not include a mirror on the inside which doesn't matter to me.  I'm all for an entire metallic palette and don't mind using other shades/palettes to complete the eye look.  The pan sizes are slightly bigger than the regular ColourPop shadows.  It includes mostly warm-toned shades but also has a cool toned shade, Beam Me Up.  The shadows are highly pigmented; a little goes a long way.  No glitter glue is required to achieve an opaque colour payoff.  The texture is ultra velvety and silky and they blend seamlessly.  As the consistency of the formula is so soft and creamy, I noticed that the shadows began to crease in the folds of my eye after 5 hours of wear.  I'm not sure if it's just me and my skin is changing as I age.  I've tried using a primer and setting the primer before application and I had the same result.  It helps to apply it with a brush as opposed to my fingers to get a precise application and keep the shadow in place.

Celestial: warm champagne ivory
Beam Me Up: icy pale blue
Easy Go: vibrant cranberry
Up & Atom: golden amber

West Star: rich copper brown
Bashful: soft icy green
Upon a Star: cool rose
The Game: antique gold

If you haven't tried ColourPop shadows, don't sleep on them.  Colourpop has amazing quality products at affordable prices.   The shades in the Semi- Precious Palette are beautiful and it includes all the lid shades that I would want in a palette.  I love the gold, pink and cranberry shades the most.   As the shadows crease on me, I can't wear them when I plan on wearing my makeup for long periods of time.  I think this is just an issue that I'm having and I would still recommend the Semi-Precious Palette.

Hi loves!

Tarte has introduced the newest addition to the Tartelette Collection.  The Toasted Palette is the third palette in the collection.  The palette was released late last year and yes I know I'm a little late in getting my review up but better late than never.  The Toasted palette contains 12 new warm-toned shades.  The copper hued palette features seven mattes and five shimmers.  The name Toasted is so fitting for the burnt hues inside that are ideal for creating warm smokey eye looks.  You can shop the Toasted Palette at Sephora, Ulta and Tartecosmetics.com.  There was so much hype around the release of this palette which made me want it even more.  Keep reading to find out was it worth the hype.

Tartelette Toasted Palette retails for $60 CAD and $46 USD.  It comes in a tortoiseshell-packaging and includes a full sized mirror on the inside.  Each shade is arranged in coordinating rows to create three easy DIY looks which is perfect for beginners.  The shadows are infused with the Amazonian clay formula similar to the other Tartelette palettes.  All of the shadows have a rich colour payoff but there was a lot of kick back and powderiness in the pan with the matte shades.  However, the majority of the mattes were soft while some were dry to the touch.  The matte shade Crackle looks very pretty in the pan with the sparkles but it doesn't translate to the lid.  There was some glitter fall out.  The Metallics perform well and apply evenly on the lids.  They have a soft cream like texture with opaque coverage; though, the shade Candle is a little flakey.  I prefer to apply the shimmers with a dampened brush.

Includes 12 eyeshadows:

  • s'more (pinky beige)
  • sunrise (golden beige)
  • sunset (bronze)
  • crackle (brown with gold flecks)
  • cashmere (pale peach)
  • warmth (terracotta)
  • flame (metallic rust)
  • cozy (brick)

Swatched in order listed above.

  • candle (champagne)
  • latte (tan)
  • simmer (copper)
  • fireside (deep plum)

Swatched in order listed above.

Overall, I think this is a great everyday palette.  Now do I think it's worth the hype?  Probably not a must-have palette for me especially at $60 CAD.  Many of the shadows are dupable.  I do love all the warm-toned shades but feel that the shadows in the UD Naked Heat Palette perform much better.

Do you own the Tartelette Toasted Palette?  What are your thoughts?

Samantha

xoxo

Hi Beauties!

Even though it is winter, you can still keep your summer tan with the new Tarte Hamptons Weekender Contour Palette.  The palette is part of the Park Ave Princess Collection which I reviewed the full line here.  The Hamptons Weekender Palette is a travel size palette that includes three new shades.  A highlight, blush and contour shade to create an effortless beachy glow.  The palette retails for $30 CAD/$23 USD.  I will be sharing my review along with swatches below.

The palette is covered with rose gold and nude packaging.  It includes a mirror on the inside and has a magnetic closure.  The mini palette is so convenient for travel or throwing into your makeup bag.  It features a shimmery champagne highlighter, matte rosy blush and a matte caramel contour shade.  The formula consists of skin-balancing Amazonian clay for long wear.  All of the powders are smooth and blend seamlessly.  I was so surprised at how pigmented the highlighter shade is.  I usually don't like the highlighters in most of Tarte's palettes.  They are usually too light or have no pigmentation but this one is amazing.  It gives a beautiful metallic glow that isn't too chalky or glittery.  The blush shade is a pretty muted pink that would look great on all skin tones.  It can kick up some powder depending on the brush you use.  The texture feels different than their regular brushes, however, it is as pigmented and has an opaque finish.  The bronzer is a little light on me but has a buildable coverage.  It has more of a semi-matte finish perfect for a summer glow.

Includes:

beach getaway (highlighter)

summer house (matte blush)

farmer's market (matte contour)

I've been loving this palette and have been wearing on repeat.  The size of the palette is convenient to store and for on the go.  You can shop this palette at Sephora and Tartecosmetics.com.

Hi Beauties!

Are you a bronze goddess?  If so, then Tarte has you covered with their new Park Ave Princess collection!  Not only is this collection going to give you a luminous glow but the contour powders will help slim and sculpt the face and body.  The entire collection is adorned with rose gold packaging that is just stunning.  It's my favourite packaging from the brand thus far.  The collection features a cult favourite, the waterproof bronzer, which has been revamped in limited edition packaging.  There is also a new contour palette and lip toppers which will be highlighted below.  The collection also features Chrome Paint shadow pots and glittery contour brush set.  The Hamptons Weekender contour palette also included in this collection will be reveiwed here.

Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette - $60 CAD/$46

The original Park Ave Princess contour palette has also been revamped, doubling the shade selection to be more versatile.  The palette is housed on a covetable rose gold compact that feels very sturdy.  This bronzer bar includes six Amazonian clay-infused bronzing and highlighting powders; of which, four are bronzing powders with two matte and two shimmery shades.  The other two highlighting powders are an ivory and yellow correcting shade.  The pans are magnetic and can be removed for refills or customization.  The powders are soft, finely milled and blend smoothly into the skin leaving a silky finish.  I like that there are two different shades, a light and a dark, for each matte, shimmer and highlighting powder.  Therefore, this palette can work for many skin tones.  I also like to mix and match the shades for a custom glow.  All of the powders are long-wearing and also have a pleasant smell to them.  I think this palette is very versatile as it suits many skin tones and is also great for when our own complexion changes from season to season.   Oh did I mention that it smells great as well!

Halo - A pale ivory powder with a matte finish.  It can be used to set the under eyes and the entire face.  This shade is too light to use under my eyes but I prefer to use it to set my face makeup by lightly dusty it all over with a powder brush.  When applied with a beauty blender it sheers out easily.

Enhance - A warm yellow tone powder with a matte finish.  This shade works better for my skin tone as a setting powder for under my eyes.  It brightens and makes my under eyes look so nice and smooth.  It applies best with a dense brush.  When applied with a beauty blender there was hardly any pigment.

Carat - A medium brown shimmer bronzer with warm orange undertones.  The powder has a soft opaque finish and blends very nicely into the skin.  This is the lighter shade of the two shimmer bronzers and is perfect for warming up the face.

Princess Cut - A light cool toned brown shade with a matte finish.  This is the only shade in the palette that I would use for contouring my nose.  It has a buildable to an opaque coverage. It is the lighter shade of the two matte bronzers and would be perfect for lighter skin tones but it still works for me.

Angle - A matte medium brown bronzer with reddish undertones.  This shade is very pigmented but can be sheered out.  If you like matte bronzers this is a beautiful shade.  It would work on tan complexions but can be mixed with Princess Cut for a lighter finish.

Crown - Is the darkest shimmer bronzer shade in the palette and has rosy undertones.  It has an opaque coverage and doesn't look dry or powdery on the skin.

Park Ave Princess Limited Edition Amazonian Clay Waterproof - $38 CAD/$30 USD

Tarte's bestselling bronzer has been revamped in a glitzy rose gold collectors edition compact.  The bronzer looks light in the pan but it's quite pigmented.  The powder is said to enhance skin tone and balance complexion.  It is infused with long-wearing Amazonian clay.  The texture is very soft and blends smoothly without looking muddy.   It has a subtle shimmer and gives a beautiful natural glow.  The bronzer has a buildable coverage and is universally flattering.  Once you hit pan, you can pop it out and replace the powder so you can keep the beautiful packaging.

Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint - $24 CAD/$20 USD

The iconic Park Ave Princess liquid lipstick has been dressed up in a new limited-edition rose gold packaging.  It is a beautiful nude shade that pulls slightly peachy on me which I love.  It doesn't look white or pale on me which is usually the case with most nude lipsticks.  It is smudge proof and full coverage matte lipstick.  It has a doe foot applicator that allows it to glide on easily.  It also dries very fast once applied.

Tarteist Lip Bling - $24 CAD/$20 USD

A metallic gloss that is meant to highlight lips with its micro glitter flecks.  It is a high coverage gloss that is very sparkly which may not be for everyone's taste.  The gloss is available in a rose gold and bronze shade.  The formula contains argan oil and vitamin E to hydrate and condition the lips.  The consistency is a little thick but goes on smoothly.  I prefer to apply it to the centre of the lips to give my lips a more fuller look.  I'm not a fan of how it looks when I apply it to my entire lips; it's very glittery.  I would have preferred it to look more shimmery (if that makes sense).  The gloss is a little hard to remove when it's applied all over the lips and it leaves glitter residue.

Park Ave Princess Matte Lip Paint, High Standards and Park Ave Princess Lip Bling

Overall, I am super impressed with the Park Ave Princess Collection.  Tarte has really outdone themselves with the rose gold packaging.  I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked in person.  The star of the collection to me would have to be the Chisel Palette.  It's very versatile and I can actually use all the shades.  I have the Pro Glow Palette and I only use a couple of shades from that one.  The powders are very soft and blendable.  The Waterproof bronzer is also a great buy that I would recommend.  You can shop this collection at Sephora, Ulta and Tartecosmetics.com.

Do you have your eyes on this collection?

Samantha

xoxo

Hi Beauties!

You've seen me talk about the Electric Obsessions Palette here on my blog before (reviewed here) and today I will be reviewing another one with you.  The compact palettes are available in four colour options and I have recently been gifted the Mauve Obsessions for Christmas.  The Mauve palette features nine shadows of dusty rose and plummy hues.  Each palette retails for $35 CAD/$27 USD.  Please keep scrolling to read more and to see swatches.

The palette is conveniently sized to fit in the palm perfectly.   It is ideal for travel and easy to apply on-the-go.   It's housed in a cardboard palette that includes a large mirror on the inside.  There are six bold mattes and three shimmers in full sized pans.  This palette can take you from a soft everyday look to a sultry night time look.  The shadows are bold and highly pigmented.  All the shades blend well together with the exception of the top left and bottom right shades - sorry there are no shade names.  Those two shadows were a little patchy.  There were no signs of fallout or powderiness.  The shimmers apply best with fingers or a wet brush.

I am so glad I was able to add this beauty to my collection.  I highly recommend picking up one or maybe two of the Obsessions Palettes.  The pigmentation is insane!  The Mauve Palette has a stunning selection of curated colours that are right up my alley.  Unlike Huda's larger palettes, these are perfect for throwing in your makeup bag, travel or a night out.  For nine full sized shadows, I think it's a great buy.  Definitely give it a try if you don't want to splurge on the Rose Gold and Desert Dusk Palettes.

You can shop the Obsessions Palettes at Sephora and Shophudabeauty.com.
