Romanian DIY death/grind band TREASONDOM has released the first single of their upcoming album on 17th of May. The song called “Everyone Is Dead Or Dying” discusses the effects of the climate change on the people’s life and criticizes the inhuman, problematic Eastern European healthcare system.

“When somebody of your loved ones becomes seriously ill and you can’t help, then the so-called ‘healthcare system’ rejects them and lets them suffer, what do you do? Writing this song became a purification process, it was a way to deal with the anger caused by helplessness.”

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Jesse Leach, who has been open about his battles with anxiety and depression, spoke to HeartSupport about why mental health awareness is important to the music community.

He said: “On paper, if you were to look at my life, you’d say — and I’ve gotten this from people — where, ‘You have such a good life. You’re living your dreams. You’re doing everything you wanna do. Why are you sad? How dare you say that, oh, you’re not feeling well?’ or this and that. And I think for me, as I’ve gotten older, it’s gotten a bit worse, but because I’ve reached out, because I’ve gotten help, because I speak about it, I meet people who are the same as me, or even worse off than me, it’s helped me to develop tools to push through and to not feel alone. And I think that’s huge.

“If I were to say anything, that’s probably the biggest thing. Knowing that I’m not alone, knowing that I can reach out to somebody… There’s people on my own [tour] bus right here that know what I’m talking about. And once you start to recognize behavioral patterns, once you start to recognize even body language, the way it looks on somebody… ‘Cause some people are obviously depressed; other people you’d never know. They can carry on and put on this façade, like, ‘Oh, I’m cool. I’m good. I’m good,’ and when they’re in their bed at home at night, they’re crying and they’re thinking suicidal thoughts.

“So it’s just a matter, for me, of keeping the conversation on the table, constantly talking about it, and the more we talk about it, the more it evolves. Honestly, that can save lives, and I think that’s why, for me, it’s so important.”

In January, Leach says that he needs time “to get help” after recently informing fans that he and his wife of over 16 years, Melissa, have decided to go separate ways.

As reported by Ultimate Guitar.

Iconic Canadian rockers Triumph will be honored with the “Legends of Live” award at the 2019 Live Music Industry Awards on Friday, May 10 in the Osgoode East Ballroom at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The award recognizes artists who have made great contributions to the Canadian music industry through live music touring and concerts. All three members of Triumph — Rik Emmett, Mike Levine and Gil Moore — will be in attendance to accept the prestigious award.

Triumph formed in Toronto in 1975 after a chance meeting led Emmett, Levine and Moore to embark on a marathon jam session. They immediately decided to form a band and their debut, “Triumph,” was released in 1976 on Attic Records. Triumph’s gift for delicate, intricate pieces and blistering rave-ups was evident on this first album. The second album, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Machine,” followed in 1977.

Triumph’s initial popularity developed in an unusual way. Both “Triumph” and “Rock ‘N’ Roll Machine” were first released only in Canada and garnered significant airplay in Texas. The “Lone Star State” has always been a prime United States market for hard rock and fans responded so favorably that Triumph specifically undertook a Texas tour to promote “Rock ‘N’ Roll Machine.” RCA Records signed Triumph on the strength of the positive buzz generated and the band’s steadily increasing notoriety, and in 1978 released a compilation off the first two albums titled “Rock ‘N’ Roll Machine.”

The Canadian hard-rock power trio Triumph stands out as a visionary, uniquely influential entity among their fellow brethren. Virtuoso musicianship, soaring melodies and exceptional songs with a positive perspective and outstanding live shows made Emmett, Levine and Moore destined for stardom. They defined and epitomized arena rock. Individually, Emmett, Levine and Moore received countless accolades for their instrumental abilities. Their creative prowess manifested itself in other outlets as well. Levine co-produced some of the band’s early work. Emmett became a cartoonist for Hit Parader magazine. Moore designed Triumph’s phenomenal live show, which consistently evolved over the years and always utilized state-of-the-art lighting, laser and pyrotechnic effects. In fact, Triumph received the influential Performance magazine’s “Innovators Of The Year” award in 1981 for the unique way they changed the arena rock landscape.

Back in 2016, Moore and Levine reunited with Rik as special guests on the “RES 9” album from Emmett’s band RESOLUTION9.

After 20 years apart, Emmett, Levine and Moore played at the 2008 editions of the Sweden Rock Festival and Rocklahoma. A DVD of the historic Sweden performance was made available four years later.

Emmett has said in various interviews over the years that he would welcome the chance to play Triumph songs with Moore and Levine again but that those two have been reluctant to commit. “If the carrot was big enough and golden enough, I think it would make Mike and Gil, but especially Gil, do it,” Emmett told the QMI Agency back in 2012.

“To boldly go where no man has gone before” that seems to be the motto for many Metal acts these days. From where I’m standing the way the guys are doing it, it’ll get more and more hard to find a place where no man has ever been because bands are looking for the most resourceful ways to find places where no one has been. The truth is that Metal is the most challenging and brekthrough music nowadays. Am I disturbed with that as many would think of a metalhead, the one who can’t stand change? No, not really. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty confortable with it. In fact, I’m really proud of the guys. They are kicking it.

This is absolutely the truth to Svet Kant with “The Visage Unbiased” where they try the most ways as it is possible without any damage to the rude and crude of Metal. Svet Kant go from the colored Art Rock to the darkest Death Metal in a finger snap as easy as I am typing right now. There are frantic tracks as “A Gaze Indifferent to Your Suffering” whose guitars seem to be playing a kind of sick free jazz due to the full of breaks riffings. “The Visage Unbiased” is an album that joyfully play around with many musical concepts just because it’s impossible to fit Svet Kant in any of them. “A Gaze Indifferent to Your Suffering” has so many plot twists that it is impossible to address all of them.

As you all know, I don’t like to get on band’s or album’s names, “The Visage Unbiased” means all. And I have to mention that the track that represents “The Visage Unbiased” the most is “Circular” with its Art Rock atmosphere but flavored by a Metalesque ballad and some touches of a jazz pop that was kind of common in the beginning of the 1980s. Spetacular weird in a way that only a band as Svet Kant could ever figure. And when you are almost done with the surprises, there comes “Faceless Beings” with a mix of samba percussion with Death Metal. And the best of it; it doesn’t get boring as most technical or experimental bands.

Svet Kant “The Visage Unbiased” will be released on May 31st via WormHoleDeath.

Track Listing:

  1. Delirium (Introitus)
  2. The Throne
  3. Labirinths (of Scorn)
  4. A Gaze Indifferent to Your Suffering
  5. Circular
  6. Faceless Being
  7. An Overlapping of Feelings, Pt. 1, 2, 3
  8. The Cogs of Envy
  9. Personae Contra Natura
  10. Sea of Planets

In a new interview with OC Weekly, Corey Taylor spoke about SLIPKNOT‘s new masks, which were unvealed earlier this week for the release of the band’s sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, due on August 9 via Roadrunner.

He said: “The reason we started wearing the masks in the first place was to take the emphasis off identity and we used it to get more into the music. But now after all these years, we wear the masks to make the performance more intense. It is part of what makes a SLIPKNOT concert unique, but if you’re into music, it shines through no matter what. For us, it’s just about putting on the best show for our audience and all the fans. If your heart’s in the right place and you love it, you can’t go wrong.”

You can take a closer look at SLIPKNOT‘s new masks here.

“We Are Not Your Kind” was once again recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed SLIPKNOT‘s 2004 album “Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)” and helmed “.5: The Gray Chapter”.

STL Tones, the leading commercial seller of Kemper Profiles has expanded its offerings with the launch of the STL Tonality Will Putney Plug-In Suite, the 2nd in the ongoing STL Tonality series of Plug-Ins.

The incredibly well-crafted guitar tones from producer and mixer Will Putney have powered a string of successful releases from bands such as Every Time I Die, The Amity Affliction, The Acacia Strain, Body Count, Thy Art Is Murder, Northlane, Gojira, Silent Planet, After the Burial, For Today, Stray From The Path, Counterparts and many others. Putney has been a fixture in the studio world for over a decade. Working out of his Graphic Nature Audio (a recording studio based in Belleville, NJ), Putney and his talented staff of engineers have brought unique and inspired production to a vast array of projects.

Now, these sought after, distinctive tones have been meticulously captured from Putney’s private amp collection in a VST/AU/AAX plug-in that gives guitar & bass players a fully mixed ready guitar sound—the plug-in suite consists of 5 amps, 3 pedals including distortion, delay and reverb, a cab room featuring Putney’s collection of cabs, Master EQ section, and a Dual amp & Cab mixer module for blending different amp and cab combinations.

In making the announcement, Sonny Truelove, STL Founder and CEO states:  “It was a pleasure to work alongside Will to create what I believe will become a staple in the heavy music scene for plug-ins. Putney’s guitar and bass tones are well respected in the music community and I am certain that people will get a lot of use out of this amazing new product.”

Adds Putney: “I’ve been an amp guy my entire music producing career, the software guitar emulations have never come close to capturing what we can create with the physical hardware at the studio. But we’ve finally cracked the code, and the recreation of my signal chains in the Will Putney STL Tonality guitar plug-in suite is truly spot on to my tones. The dynamics, depth, and reactivity of the amplifiers, cabinets, pedals, mixer, and equalizer are on a new level, the software engineering is a work of art.  I’m proud to be part of such a high quality creative tool for all guitar playing, recording, and mixing applications.”

The Will Putney Guitar Amp Plug-In Suite, with exclusive presets crafted by Putney, and other artists who have worked in the studio with Putney, is available for purchase on May 3rd at a special introductory price of $99.99.

The STL Tonality Will Putney Guitar Suite Plugin is compatible with all major 32- and 64-bit audio hosts, on both Mac and Windows. For audio and video demos, please visit stltones.com.

SLIPKNOT recently announced the departure with the percussionist Chris Fehn after he filed a lawsuit against his band members over unpaid loyalties.

In his lawsuit, Fehn claims to have always been told that the money from merchandise and touring is funneled through one sole company that splits profits and pays the members of the band. However, Fehn claims he recently discovered that his bandmates have set up several other SLIPKNOT-affiliated business entities in different states that appear to be collecting money from the band.

Outstanding German/Icelandic metallers Árstíðir lífsins return with their highly anticipated 4th album entitled ‘Saga á tveim tungum I: Vápn ok viðr.’ Like all previous outputs, the album will be released via German quality label Ván Records on exclusive 2LP, Digipack CD and known digital channels.
Since 2008, the art of Árstíðir lífsins breath Old Norse history on all levels. Entirely sung in Old Icelandic and twinned with its sister album ‘Saga á tveim tungum II: Eigi fjǫll né firðir’ to be released in late 2019, ‘Vápn ok viðr’ takes you on a journey to the brutal power attempts of (in)famous Norwegian king Óláfr helgi Haraldsson in the early eleventh century as it is portrayed in the vernacular medieval Scandinavian sources.
Musically, Árstíðir lífsins prove on ‘Vápn ok viðr’ once again its ability to produce audial quality: From ambient archaic folklore patterns, supported by dark chants and classical instruments, to both modern and classic Black Metal elements, the musical abilities materialise and teach a powerful lesson in real craftmanship.
‘Saga á tveim tungum I: Vápn ok viðr’ was composed and recorded in Germany and Sweden in early 2018 and mixed and mastered in August 2018 by the experienced hands of renowned producer Markus Stock at Studio E, Mellrichstadt, Germany. As always, the intriguing layout was executed by the highly talented Christopher Duis of 1gemachtes.de. All promotional photography was taken by the equally skilled Rakel Erna Skarphéðinsdóttir.

It’s amazing how Metal iconography and philosophy are spreading throughout the globe embracing different people and culture. If the media were to be really fair, Metal had to be chosen as the global musical moviment, but unfortunately this world is everything but fair. Today’s review subject is Arstidir Lifsins with “Vapn ok vidr,” which I don’t dare to translate – in fact, I don’t trust Google Translator to do it (Google Translator told me it was Hungarian, but with a quick look through Google I discovered it’s Icelandic). Technology is great when it works, I always say that. Finally, Arstidir Lifsins are from the distant and gelid Iceland where even the most hardcore Metal fan would believe there are relevant bands. Digging a little bit deeper, I discovered that Arstidir Lifsins means “‘the seasons of life,” which is a proper name to what the band does in terms of music and lyricism.

Loyal to their norse cultural and musical roots, in this case I mean modern culture in the flesh of Black Metal standards, Arstidir Lifsins play a vigorous music, though sometimes they step down a little in speed and velocity. In fact, “Vapn ok vidr” is one of those deceptive albums that I keep on referring. First track “Fornjots synir ljotir at Haddingja lands lynladum” is a blast to the layman ears to start with. I confess the first time I heard I wasn’t in the mood of such carnage. But I kept my promise of listening bands once, twice, or even more if needed. The truth is that after a little while, from second track Arstidir Lifsins on reveal their real façade. Arstidir Lifsins deal with both profane and sacred with their songs full of religious references not only in the iconography, but also in their music. There are lots of religious chants that embelish many tracks. Arstidir Lifsins work very well with what I call Metal dialects, or paradoxes and contradictions.

Arstidir Lifsins “Vapn ok vidr” was released on April 26th via Ván Records.

Track Listing:

  1. Fornjots synir ljotir at Haddingja lands lynladum
  2. Sundvrpudir ok ara ytr
  3. Morðbál á flugi ok klofin mundriða hjól
  4. Lif a milli hveinandi blodkerta
  5. Stng od gylld fyr gngum rafi
  6. Sidar heilags bra solar ljosi
  7. Vandar jtunn reisti fiska upp af vtnum
  8. Fregit hefk satt
  9. Haldi oss fra eldi eilifr skapa deilir

KORN guitarist Brian “Head” Welch shared what we would tell to someone who are struggling with addiction and are trying to get sober.

He told New Hope Church Brisbane: “I usually tell ’em that you just open your heart. You come and you tell God, ‘If you’re real, then show me.’ And you do that every day, and you seek him, you will find him. If you look for him, he will reveal himself to you. If you stop and quit a week or two later, then you won’t find him. It says in the Bible that his eyes roam throughout the earth looking for a heart that’s completely his. The thing is, when people give up after one week, that’s not a heart that’s really searching. He’s about the heart.”

Welch also talked about his personal relationship with Christ, saying: “People try to look and do and act and behave so much, and all that can be good and everything, but it’s about the inner reality of Christ dwelling inside of you and you interacting with that relationship inside and being passionate about it and putting the things of the world aside and letting that be your biggest passion.

“You can have other passions — look at me; I’m in a rock band, I travel the world, and he’s given me back wealth and I’m doing business deals and everything — but he knows my heart and when he looks for a heart that’s completely his, he knows mine’s completely his. I’m not perfect — I make mistakes — but the inner reality of the Christ relationship is so real.”
