Drawing inspiration from natural forms and the vibrant luminosity of natural gemstones, she strives to capture the precious quality found in ancient jewelry, while creating pieces with a modern sensibility.
Each piece is hand crafted using recycled metals in Northampton, Massachusetts by the designer and her highly skilled team of jewelers.
Set behind crystal and silver or 22k gold, Ananda hand paints each of the tiny paintings on paper that are featured in her pieces. The paintings are never printed or reproduced in any way, making each one unique.
She is influenced by the powerful symbolism behind each of the subjects she chooses to paint; themes include bluebird, autumn maple and plum blossom.
Meet the jewelry designer in-store, Thursday, May 9th and Friday, May 10th and shop the collection, exclusive to Mercantile in Portland.
Can you feel it?!?! The days are longer, the flowers are starting to bloom and we’re even catching a bit of sunshine here and there. You know what that means, right? Spring is near! It’s almost time to stash away those winter essentials. Let’s say BYE heavy coats and SEE YA chunky knits!
One thing that won’t get put away is denim, an all year round essential, that we never tire of. We’ve collected our favorite denim trends for Spring - it’s all in the details this season - to update your wardrobe and keep your jeans feeling fresh as the temps rise.
Just the right amount of exposure.

There are a few items that you really NEED in your closet…a great pair of jeans, a cashmere pullover - preferable in grey - a lightweight city puffer, a Breton stripe tee, and the most important? The perfect white shirt. It can be polished, it can be sexy, it can be relaxed, it can be layered, the possibilities for a white shirt are really endless.
It’s not just your husband’s white shirt these days (although, you should def snag that one too and wrap it up like Carolyn Kennedy) with countless fabrications - we love the juxtaposition of a tailored shirt in cotton jersey - to every length and silhouette you can think of. Slim, silky and stretchy for under your sweaters, boxy, crisp and cropped to pair with high waist trousers, and sheer, (slightly) wrinkled and breezy to throw over your swimsuit.
Don’t limit how you wear your white shirt! Think outside the box and put it under a structured strapless or slinky slip dress for a high-fashion but fully functional look. Channel your inner Audrey and tuck it into midi skirt with neck scarf and espadrilles or go full 80’s and pair an oversized version with vintage style jeans and penny loafers for the easiest (and chicest) outfit ever.
It’s a wardrobe staple you might not have known you needed, but you certainly won’t be able to live without.
It’s February. Gulp. January sped past with its sales, diets and juice cleanses and now the new year can really start, right? This means we’re jumping right into Valentine’s Day! We’ve put together a list of gifts for all the different ladies in your life (including you for some unabashed self-love) because you know we love a theme.
We’ll bet that the girl who has everything doesn’t have a peachy suede cross-body from See by Chloé. This petite bag is just the right size for all your essentials plus a tiny bit more and it pairs as easily with denim as it does flowy, flirty dresses for spring.
For the world traveler in your life, give the gift of a reversible Herno puffer. She can wear the darker side out for travel and busy days spent sight-seeing, and switch to the dressier, blush pink for dinner dates and cocktail hour. It’s two jackets in one, and can be stuffed into purses and suitcases, while taking up less room than anything else she packed!
Give your prepster pal a modern take on the classic striped oxford from Closed. She can layer it over a graphic tee and distressed denim with the sleeves pushed up for an easy weekend look or dress it up a bit with white jeans and a red lip for Galentine’s Lunch with the besties.
A simple pink sweater from Fabiana Filippi in the most delicate waffle knit that can be worn all on it’s own or layered over a crisp white shirt. Give this to the chicest chick in your life to add just the right amount of pink to her spring wardrobe.
You can’t forget about YOU! Treat yourself to a skinny sterling silver bangle from Rene Escobar. An updated version of his classic cuff that's perfect for layering with the arm party you already have started. A sturdy yet delicate piece made from recycled silver and gold with ethically sourced diamonds that you litterally, never have to take off.
There’s something about the weekend that is just so magical. Freedom to do what you wish, time to spend with your loved ones (family or chosen family), sleeping in, leisurely meals, the space to tackle projects and generally get your life in order before the next work week.
It’s easy to get into the habit of sporting your sweats or workout gear on your days off, but it’s nice to have a simple, easy outfit that’s casual yet polished to get you through your busy days.
Vintage inspired jeans from Re/Done, with a little extra bit of stretch, paired with a soft as pajamas striped tee by Majestic Filatures are the base of this look. But the piece de resistance is a reversible puffer from Herno in winter white and champagne with gold snaps and patch pockets. It instantly elevates your look, and pairs perfectly with your favorite sneaker, for that perfectly casual yet cool weekend look.
All three pieces can be worn time and again, no matter the season (yes, even the puffer, it is Oregon after all) but we know you’ll find yourself pulling this combo out of your closet come Saturday.
Whew! It’s a new year, and although it’s already half way through January, we’re all finally finding our feet again after the holidays. One way we like to fight through these long winter days is to look ahead to spring. Specifically with a few select items that we can wear now (with a few extra layers) all the way through May or June when the sun finally starts to shine again. We’ve picked our four favorite items that really scream spring, but won’t hang lonely and lonesome in your closet till warmer days.
Silk Blouse - this cheeky take on the classic silk blouse from Rails just makes you think of spring. The butterfly print is whimsical and flirty while the shape is totally timeless. Layer it under a chunky sweater now for extra warmth then sport is solo or with a lightweight military jacket and distressed denim as the temperatures rise.
Mini Skirt - The denim inspired mini is back people! Updated with a higher waist for a cleaner and more sophisticated look, we’re gaga over this lace-up, stretch chino version from J. Brand. It’s begging for some black tights and booties and a slim fit, turtleneck sweater for that classic sixties, beatnik vibe. For spring, add a worn in graphic tee, well loved sneakers and a smile.
Colored Denim - These aren’t the colored jeans from 2013, the colors are more muted and much easier to wear. We love that the lilac version from AG can read pink, purple or even a little grey, making them a staple that you’ll turn to over and over again. Keep things tonal with shades of pink, white and cream for a fresh take on “winter whites’ then go bold with lace up sandals, a breezy blouse and chunky accessories when you pull them out again for summer.
Tweed Jacket - This isn’t your mother’s tweed jacket. Iro, the masters of French Girl Cool, have updated the tweed staple once again. This time with an exaggerated open weave, that makes the piece function like a cozy sweater as much as a jacket. Pair with denim for that nonchalant look that only Parisians seem to have or over a breezy, silky sun dress.
