Spring is here! And what better way to kick off a new season than to spruce up our mind, body, and soul! Our energies are in a constant flux of to-do lists, emotions and thoughts of the future, but put them aside for a few minutes each day and unwind with these 5 worry-free tips.

#1: This is a simple one – Get moving!

Nothing releases endorphins better than a burst of movement. Maybe instead of an hour workout class, commit to a simple 15-minute flow to move the stagnant energy. Endorphins trigger positive feelings in the body. The feeling that follows a run or workout is often described as a “runner’s high,” which allows one to have a more positive and energizing outlook on life. Equally rewarding is the face and body afterglow of a good sweat session!

#2: Laugh out loud⠀⠀⠀⠀

Laughter is a wonderful collaboration between the mind and body. Researchers theorize that humour helps to shift our perspectives, relaxes the body and protects the heart. One way to warm up to a big guffaw is by smiling more throughout the day. Smile as you step into a crowded bus, when you open the refrigerator, or when you take the first sip of your favourite beverage. On top of that, give yourself permission to be silly. When you can laugh at yourself or try something new, the initial attempts will be awkwardly funny and very likely to result in a lot of laughs.

#3: Load up on collagen

We all know that hydration is key to healthy, supple skin but who says that you have to only drink plain water! Swisse Ultiboost Golden Collagen Blood Orange Liquid contains clinically proven hydrolysed collagen which has shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in as little as 4 weeks*. What you may not know is that Golden Collagen Liquid’s key ingredient is blood oranges from Sicily, an island from Italy. These exotic ruby red oranges are particularly known for being a potent source of antioxidants such as vitamin C and anthocyanin. Although Golden Collagen Liquid is touted as an elixir to improving skin elasticity, its main reason for its popularity is taste. So why not get your gut glowing with health too with a range of yummy collagen-infused drinks that are easy to make? With recipes stretching from fresh turmeric and ginger collagen shots, to the indulgent vanilla bean sweet cream collagen iced coffee, and the tropical-themed Pina Colada smoothie, all you need is imagination and a premium bottle of Swisse Ultiboost Golden Collagen Blood Orange Liquid!

#4: Make delicious DIY facials

Facials are a must-do before a big event or even just on a quiet night in (while binge-watching Game of Thrones and drinking collagen shots!). When you want your skin on maximum glow, make time for a healthy DIY turmeric face mask consisting of all natural ingredients that exfoliate, hydrate and cleanse at the same time. Mix 1 tbsp of Greek yogurt (yogurt has natural AHAs from lactic acid but it also hydrates and nourishes your skin) with 1 tsp of turmeric, 1 tsp of lemon and 1/2 tsp of honey. You can also substitute yogurt with milk or simply add extra honey – your skin and stomach cannot thank you enough!

#5: Practise mindfulness

If your life feels crammed with work and home chores, it can be hard to remember the last time you glowed with happiness. Take frequent pauses and deep breaths throughout the day for your body to reset and stay calm. See if you can slow it down. Calming activities like meditation and yoga can help you step back from the constant barrage of thoughts or if you have a more sensitive soul, keep a gratitude journal or write thank-you notes to remind yourself not to sweat the small stuff. Mindfulness works best when you set aside time to practice each day.

The summer holidays might be ending, but here in Singapore, it’s bikini weather all year ‘round!

From September onwards, Parisian “it” swimsuit brand Eres will be launching their Cruise 19 Swimwear collection featuring their signature range of sophisticated and timeless pieces. As always, this collection will be an intricate combination of comfort and style, but this time with a twist – expect one-pieces with dramatic cuts, as well as bikinis with iridescent stripes that show a little more skin than we’re used to seeing from Eres pieces.

Say goodbye to that itchy ‘wet-bikini’ syndrome too – the new bikinis will be made with ultra-light Parachute fabric, which dry almost as soon as it leaves the water. On average, an Eres line takes nearly two years (!) to complete, so we’ll have the luck of being one of the first ones to don these painstakingly designed pieces!

Since it was first established in the late 1960s, Eres has always emphasized the importance of the natural female body and a focus on the “realities of a woman’s daily life”. True to its name (which translates to “You are”), Eres was one of the first swimwear brands to remove armature like underwires and padding from its suit designs. It’s also known for its state-of-the-art fabrics, designs, and cutting techniques, such as injecting silicone into layers of fabric to create a padded effect instead of using bulky padding, in order to emphasize the natural curves of a woman’s body as best as possible.

Comfort, femininity, and minimalism – ERES continues to embody that signature Parisian chic we know and love.

The Cruise 19 collection can be purchased at the Eres boutique in Orchard from September onwards.

We confess: we just can’t. Stop. Hoarding. On. Lingerie.

Which certainly doesn’t help when we caught wind of H&M’s newest collaboration with Amsterdam-based lingerie label Love Stories. Although the Swedish fast-fashion giant is certainly no stranger to joining forces with designers from the likes of Kenzo and Erdem, the H&M x Love Stories will be its first-ever collaboration with a lingerie label.

Launching islandwide this August 9, this capsule 20-piece collection has everything from bralettes, briefs, thongs, pyjamas, slip dresses, as well as ‘loungerie’ items like socks, kimonos, eye masks, travel bags and more.

In case you’re not familiar with Love Stories: the Dutch intimates label, which launched fairly recently in 2013, is perhaps best known for its fun prints and comfortable designs. Think animal and floral prints, accented with your usual lingerie details like lace and tulle. Its aesthetic is about creating tops and bottoms perfect for mixing and matching – because hey, isn’t lingerie supposed to be fun and experimental, anyway?

As you would expect, this first-ever intimates collaboration stays true to Love Stories’ aesthetic of ‘perfect mismatches’ of prints and colours. There’s everything from athletic stripes and floral prints, to star motifs and leopard in flirty shades like dusty pink, olive and black.

Marlos Hoedeman, Love Stories’ founder and designer, told Vogue exclusively that the collection is comprised of “pieces created to be worn at home without forgoing style. They are not necessarily worn only at home: our idea is to create a versatile product people love to wear and, why not, also to flaunt.”

THE H&M X LOVE STORIES COLLECTION

“Lingerie has always been an important part of fashion. With this collaboration, we really want to show that lingerie can be just as fun and expressive as clothes even if it’s not always on view and therefore Love Stories was the perfect fit. We’ve long admired Marloes (founder of Love Stories) for her energy, her drive and, of course, her designs, so we’re thrilled to be doing this together,” shares Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Design Director.

Summer might be drawing to an end around the world, but there’s no saying why your wardrobe couldn’t use with a fun lingerie update. Check out the entire H&M x Love Stories collection in the gallery above!

The H&M x Love Stories collection will be available at H&M Orchard Building and online at hm.com from 9 August.

Fashion icons are icons for a reason. They not only provide us with beautiful clothing, accessories, shoes, and bags but as it turns out, they’re also responsible for some of the most iconic quotes on life, style and everything in between. While Karl Lagerfeld seems to have strong opinions on the famous LBD and sweatpants, Coco Chanel’s views on elegance and what a girl should strive for are beautifully timeless.

If you’re feeling a little uninspired in the fashion and beauty department right now, perhaps these quotes will give you a little insight and inspiration on reinventing your style and life. After all, it seems like according to these fashion legends, these two are almost interchangeable – in the sense that one will always influence the other!

We always love fashion for a good cause, and so here’s another one to keep on your radar: Spanish luxury fashion house LOEWE has been collaborating with the Elephant Crisis Fund’s Knot on My Planet campaign to support elephant conservation projects across Africa and Asia.

On July 16th, LOEWE launched a limited edition range of the iconic Elephant Mini Bag in Tan featuring beadwork by Samburu women from Northern Kenya. The Samburu women share a special relationship with elephants and work closely with the Kenya-based elephant research and conservation organisation, Save The Elephants.

All proceeds – yes, all – from the limited edition Elephant Mini Bag (priced at SGD2290) will go to the Knot On My Planet campaign by the Elephant Crisis Fund, which provides direct support to projects designed to stop the killing of elephants, thwart traffickers, and end the demand for ivory.

To find out more about the cause and the intricated beadwork by the Samburu Trust women, visit the LOEWE x Knot on My Planet.

The collection will launch exclusively on LOEWE.

Just earlier this month, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum broke the news of its largest and most comprehensive Christian Dior exhibition ever. Happening next February 2019, the “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” is a showcase of the iconic designer’s history and influence on fashion from 1947 to today.

The rise of fashion exhibitions and even fully dedicated museums like the Yves Saint Laurent Museum Marrakech is telling of a deeper, intimate and intellectual interest behind the riveting couture and designer pieces we see on the runway.

It’s unsurprising, considering how much fashion has imitated life, and vice versa – even in unlikely ways. The Met Gala’s riveting Heavenly Bodies exhibition, for one, illustrates how the two unlike worlds of fashion and faith have often collided throughout history.

From Azzedine Alaia to Christian Dior, check out 5 must-see fashion exhibitions happening this 2018!

Red top or white bottoms? White bottoms or red top?

Every year, dressing for National Day is tricky – especially if you want to avoid looking like a cheesy, walking & talking spokesperson for the nation. Unlike the French or the Americans, you can’t always spice up your outfit with a dash of denim, and it’s also difficult to just wear the design of the flag on your clothes, like the British or Mexicans.

It almost seems like a sad either-or fashion situation: either you look overly-patriotic (which is fine, if that’s what you’re going for), or actually stylishly pull off a red-and-white ensemble.

From using jewellery to inject a pop of red to your outfit to embracing the red-and-white hues in gingham prints, get inspired by some of the chicest streetwear featuring the good ol’ red and white color combo in the gallery above!
