Trouble is brewing in Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia with internal rebellion against newly appointed chairman Mazlan Bujang.

(The Star) – It is learnt a group of Bersatu division leaders have sent a memorandum to party chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad calling for Mazlan to be replaced.

Mazlan was also not invited to Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar’s Hari Raya gathering with Bersatu leaders at Istana Pasir Pelangi on Monday.

A Bersatu meeting held for the first time since Mazlan was appointed chief the same night was also boycotted by half of the

26 division leaders in the state.

Mazlan said he was unperturbed by the attempts to have him removed.

“I am aware of a group meeting with Dr Mahathir. But I have the full backing of the chairman and party president.

“They have even appointed me as a supreme council member in the party,” he said, adding that he was also not disappointed about not being invited to the Hari Raya gathering with the Johor Ruler.

Mazlan also pointed out he was not the only Bersatu leader who was not invited to the event.

“Anyway, I had another programme that same day,” he added.

He said there would be no action against those who did not turn up for his first division leaders’ meeting at the party headquarters, adding that his interest is for everyone to be united for the party’s sake.

Mazlan said he did not have any issues working with Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, whom he described as being in a difficult position – wedged between the party and the palace.

Mazlan hoped that all the 26 division leaders would close ranks and work for the people as the party elections were around the corner.

Meanwhile, a Bersatu leader who attended the gathering with the Sultan of Johor described the event as cordial.

“Tuanku reminded us to serve the people and not just play politics,” he said, adding that the Ruler also wore red, which is the party’s colour, during the event.

He confirmed that besides Mazlan, there were a few other division chiefs who were not present at the event.

Mazlan was among two state executive councillors dropped from the new state line-up under Dr Sahruddin following the resignation of Datuk Osman Sapian. The other was Tan Hong Pin from DAP.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also accused Anwar Ibrahim of sexual misconduct in 1998 without the required 4 witnesses but was never jailed under Qazaf

(MMO) – An aide to Datuk Seri Azmin Ali will lodge a police report in Putrajaya tomorrow, after two waves of sex videos targeting the minister this week.

His political secretary Hilman Idham said following the police report, he will also lodge another report with Islamic authorities.

“The qazaf report will be lodged in the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) to clear Azmin’s name,” he told reporters tonight after a prayer session in support of Azmin.

Qazaf refers to the Shariah offence of accusing another Muslim of illicit sex without providing the stipulated four eyewitnesses.

Under Section 41 of the Shariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997, the offence is punishable with fine not more than RM5,000, jail not more than three years, or both.

NEW PRESS RELEASE

I DENY THE PERSON IN THE VIDEO IS ME.

THIS MOVE IS AIMED AT BRINGING ME DOWN.

I AM UPSET ABOUT THIS, WHICH SHOULD NO LONGER HAPPEN IN POST-GE14 MALAYSIA.

I AM GOING TO SUE THE TWO PEOPLE IN THE VIDEO.

I AM NOT GOING TO RESIGN.

I WILL GET PDRM AND MACC TO FIX THESE PEOPLE UP.

**********************************************************

ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE

I refer to the various media reports today publishing the allegations of an individual regarding a sex video purporting to implicate me. I categorically deny this vicious libel upon me.

This is nothing but a nefarious plot to assassinate my reputation and character in an attempt to destroy my political career. Judging from recent political developments, this is clearly the latest in a series of concerted attempts over the past few months to vilify me, which includes intimidation against the safety of my family and I in the final week of Ramadhan, and vile and baseless accusations of corruption.

I utterly condemn this brand of gutter politics. It has no place in this era of New Malaysia, where we are working to rebuild the nation through institutional reforms.

I have instructed my lawyers to take the appropriate legal action against the individual who made these abominable allegations as well as against other perpetrators. I will avail myself of all legal means at my disposal to expose these culprits.

I will not submit to these cowardly acts and heinous attempts to distract the public from the pressing concerns of the nation and the successes of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the planning and implementation of national development policies that are sustainable and inclusive.

I trust the Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will take all necessary action with regards to this matter.

Mohd Hisham Lufti, Malay Mail Online

The explosive news linking a senior minister with gay sex has been described as “gutter politics”. The truth is, it is anything but that. First, let’s establish some common ground: nobody wants gutter politics, not least in Malaysia Baharu. The truth is, there are political and security ramifications if the allegations are true.

In June 2015, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in an interview with The Australian, had said that a gay leader would be susceptible to political blackmail. He was asked why he had sacked Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the Deputy Prime Minister in 1998.

Different nations have different cultural values. In some Western countries, it is okay to be openly gay or bisexual. In Malaysia, a large segment of the population still frown upon people with such sexual orientation. A senior Cabinet member who hasn’t come out of the closet, so to speak, could be a national and security threat.

The then Soviet Union was fond of laying honey traps and they even had a name for it — kompromat. Former Indonesian president Sukarno, who had a reputation for enjoying the company of women, was supposedly a target of the Russian intelligence operatives.

In an era where international geopolitics is increasingly personality-driven, as opposed to dictated by military strength, it is imperative that a national leader must not be easily cowed by foreign influences. In the US, a huge segment of its population have misgivings over Donald Trump’s cosy ties with Russia. Many suspect this is due to Trump’s previous business dealings with Russian oligarchs or even the so-called “pee tape” allegedly involving Russian prostitutes in a posh hotel in Moscow in 2013.

Besides geopolitics, whether or not a Minister was involved in gay sex is also a matter of public interests. It is true that those who hold public office ought to be doing their jobs, not just throw dirt at each other. But a senior Minister filmed on tape having gay sex (if indeed true) has broken a law in Malaysia, which may lead to his disqualification as a public office holder.

The people has the right to know if this is so, just as they have the right to know whether a minister has faked his academic credentials or has absconded public funds. Look beyond the so-called “Bangsar Bubble” and there are plenty out there who has reservations about having a Minister with such sexual orientation.

Until and unless our society has evolved to a stage where homosexuality is accepted, public office bearers just have to live up to the prevailing moral norms, whether they like it or not. The allegations against the Minister can be construed in a lot of way, but “gutter politics” is not one of them.

Yes, this is the SOP for Malaysia. You are considered guilty unless you can prove you are innocent. And that is what the judge said 20 years ago in 1999 when he found Anwar guilty and sentence him to jail — Anwar had failed to prove his innocence.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

When Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah was brought down with the crucifix scandal, it was an inside job.

When Anwar Ibrahim was brought down with the sex scandal, it was an inside job.

When Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was brought down with his son-in-law issue, it was an inside job.

When Najib Tun Razak was brought down with the 1MDB issue, it was an inside job.

Today, we have the Azmin Ali sex scandal and the PKR people are saying the opposition is behind it — meaning Umno. Actually, it is an inside job as well, just like in the many occasions in the past.

PAS, for sure, has no interest in bringing Azmin down because that will just mean the way would be clear for Anwar to take over as Prime Minister. And Azmin is useful for blocking Anwar — meaning Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad need not resign on or before May 2020.

Why would the opposition want to bring down Azmin Ali when it is better he be allowed to check Anwar Ibrahim?

Keeping Azmin around will guarantee that the split in PKR would continue, another advantage to Umno and PAS. It is better that PKR has two warlords constantly trying to kill each other. This would mean they will have no time to run the country, which will make the voters angry.

Pakatan Harapan is asking people to stop spreading fitnah. They did not think of saying this when they spread the fitnah about Malaysia’s RM1 trillion debts. They did not think of saying this when they spread the fitnah that RM1.1 billion worth of cash and valuables had been seized in Najib Tun Razak’s apartment in the Pavilion Residences. They did not think of saying this when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad spread the fitnah that RM42 billion of 1MDB’s money, and maybe even more than RM50 billion, had disappeared into thin air. They did not think of saying this when Tian Chua spread the fitnah that Najib had dinner with Altantuya Shaariibuu on the Eiffel Tower (and which the French police denied).

This is why you must never use Google to translate from Malay to English

Anyway, two people were in that sex video and someone had issued that confession. So, if it was not Azmin or Haziq Aziz, then the police have to find the criminals behind these acts and bring them to justice. Failing that we have to assume the culprits are Azmin and Haziq. It is just like in Najib’s case where the government assumes the RM1.1 billion seized valuables (now reduced to less than RM700 million) were bought with money stolen from 1MDB, unless Najib can prove otherwise.

Yes, this is the SOP for Malaysia. You are considered guilty unless you can prove you are innocent. And that is what the judge said 20 years ago in 1999 when he found Anwar guilty and sentence him to jail — Anwar had failed to prove his innocence.

(MMO) – A Wanita PKR leader urged party member Mohd Haziq Abdul Aziz to relinquish all his positions to ensure unimpeded investigations into his claim of involvement in a sex scandal implicating a senior party leader and minister.

Sharifah Hazlina Syed Musa Jamalullail, who is Wanita PKR’s deputy secretary, said he should also do so as a sign of respect for the people.

“We have more urgent issues at hand, and we must remain focused on all aspects related to education, economy and good governance.

“My fear is that if we indulge in this game of defamation once more, we will be lost in our cause of wanting to see reformation as this rings and reeks of a familiar scenario 20 years ago,” she said in a statement.

She then proposed that women candidates be considered as replacement for the roles that Haziq vacates.

Several videos of roughly 90 seconds each began circulating on social media early yesterday morning which depict a man performing sexual acts on another man that allegedly resembles a minister.

Last night, Haziq, the senior private secretary to Primary Industries Deputy Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, allegedly admitted on his Facebook page to being the other person in the video that purportedly features a PKR leader.

(MMO) – Ahmad Soffian Mohd Shariff finally disclosed that his reason for resigning as Zuraida Kamaruddin’s press secretary was linked to his lawyer wife’s abrupt removal from the ongoing inquest of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.

Ahmad Soffian said the Attorney General’s instruction for his wife, Syazlin Mansor, to withdraw from representing the Fire and Rescue Department and the Housing and Local Government Ministry in Adib’s inquest, was a contributing factor even as he praised his ex-boss Zuraida, who is the housing and local government minister and PKR vice-president.

“Zuraida is a good boss. She is the best minister in the Pakatan Harapan Cabinet,” he told reporters here after Syazlin held a press conference.

“It’s not because of KPKT,” he said, referring to the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

“I just don’t feel confident in the Pakatan Harapan government.

“There are a lot of things which I felt should not have happened in Malaysia Baharu,” he added, citing for example the problems surrounding the PTPTN public student loan scheme.

Ahmad Soffian quit as Zuraida’s press secretary on June 10, about a month after he took up the job.

(FMT) – PKR top leaders are expected to discuss the viral sex video which allegedly featured two prominent party members when its political bureau meets tonight.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil however told FMT that the sex clip affair was not the main agenda for the meeting.

“We might discuss it,” he said.

The meeting at the PKR headquarters here is expected to start at 6pm.

Since yesterday, several clips showing two men engaging in homosexual acts have been making the rounds on social media.

The clips show two men performing homosexual acts, one of whom resembles a senior minister.

Early today, Muhammad Haziq Aziz, an aide to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, made a shocking confession that he was one of the men in the video.

Haziq, who is the PKR Youth chief for the Santubong division in Sarawak, also named the person he was with, a senior federal minister who is also a PKR leader. He said the video was recorded without his knowledge.

PKR has since rejected the claims as “slander” and urged the public to stop sharing the viral video.
