A couple of days ago, I went down from the mountains and went to the launch of Detail Makeover's newest products. What I wasn't aware of was that they've already turned three years. I mean I still remember attending their launch where I didn't realize there was a rock and roll theme and all of them were wearing black and there I was, wearing a bright green. I cringe whenever I remember that.
Any who, let's know more about their newest products!

I swatched it on my arms and did the laundry, the dishes, and I even took a bath. It didn't really smudge the whole day. It can also create sharp cat-eyes.

I recently bought the dear, Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream because I've heard so many amazing things about it. I thought it was time to get a new base since my skin hasn't been good to me for the past month. It's been really dehydrated and I'm getting cystic acne in places where I've never had them before. It's a little crazy, so I thought I should look into bases which had moisturizing properties in them.
dear, Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream
The Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream is a Blemish Cream, highly known as BB cream that captures the natural skin tone. It applies thinly and it does not cake or leave a grey cast. With its hydrating features, it gives the skin a glowy and natural finish.
Natural, translucent finish
The Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream revolutionized the grayscale shade of many Korean BB creams. It doesn’t thickly cover the skin for the natural, lively skin tone look. Depending on skin type and personal preference, can be mixed with matte foundation.
Complete hydration even for dry, sensitive skin
Can act as a hydration cream. Effective hydration to dry and sensitive skin, adding healthy shine to make the skin look lively and youthful. With a mild, hypoallergenic formula it is safe to use on all skin types.
Multiple applications without the clumping
The Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream is made with Klairs special formula for effective coverage of pores and redness. Multiple applications for additional coverage is possible without the clumping or heaviness for a natural finish.
I had high expectations for this product based on customer reviews and comments I read on numerous websites. I specifically read comments from people who identified as acne-prone and had oily and blemished skin because I thought that I could relate to them. But I was so wrong. I don't know if the definition of acne-prone and blemished skin changed overnight, but honey, no. Their comments were all false.
This is primarily the reason why I blog and post coverage tests. Sometimes people exaggerate on products telling how amazing they are, blah, blah, and hey, I bought it because of their testimonies, right? Such a let down!
It has a yellow-undertone, almost invisible once applied.
This blemish balm comes in a soft plastic squeeze-type packaging and I am loving the English labels. From the box all the way to the tube, you can read descriptions, ingredients and more which I find oddly satisfying. I mean this is probably the most English I've read in a ton of K-beauty products that I own. I love that I can read and understand the product I'm using instead of just looking at symbols.
As for the formula, I find it very similar to other blemish balms, has a light scent, not too thick and not to thin -- just somewhere in between, and it's very easy to spread on to skin. It doesn't have a strong grey undertone and it does try to adapt to my skin tone, but it just still looks lighter on me. I'm really more on the medium-yellow side, so it is still noticeable that I've applied something on.
I've read a lot of reviews saying how good it is in covering their acne, but I would have to say that's totally false. I find that while it has a very light coverage, a semi-matte finish, and that it also minimizes the look of pores on skin, it however does not cover acne-marks, pimples, and it doesn't really cover redness. I would have to say that it neutralizes redness, but not totally covers it.
The product doesn't promise to be a foundation nor a full-coverage BB cream, but it does promise to give you a my-skin-but-better look. Sure, I'd agree to that. I find that the Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream really does make your skin look glowing, "illuminating" if you will, and it still makes your skin look like skin. It has a very natural glowy finish. It feels very hydrating and oil control is okay, I don't need to powder and re-touch, but I do need to blot, and another issue for me is I get a new pimple every time I use this on my cheek. I believe it also contains Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera Extract which are all great on skin, but Niacinamide I think is the true culprit here on why I get a new zit every time I use this. I've had the same experience with the Niacinamide serum from The Ordinary.
I would describe the dear, Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream not as a typical CC-cream and not a typical BB-cream, but more of a glowy-tinted-moisturizer-sunscreen. I like using it on my nose because it hides my pores and I also like using it under my eyes because of the hydration. I believe some people tend to use this as a base before putting on foundation or they just simply mix it with foundation for a more glowy look. I have yet to try it, but I definitely will mix this with a darker foundation and see how it goes.
If you want to achieve the glass look, this is the product you have to use!
If you're looking for a BB-cream to cover your blemishes and acne-marks, this is not it.
I think it works better on blemish-free skin, those with dry skin, and those who just want a my-skin-but-better-glowy-look without having to cover anything else. I bought this from Althea Korea and it retails for PHP 1,300.
Sad to say, but I've been let down by customer reviews yet again.
I never actually believed in it until everyone I met with during my wedding preps kept telling how beautiful I am, how great I looked, how I had this bridal glow. I thought that thing was a myth, but it seemed to be true.
After four months, my skin looked pretty dull and dead, so I'm ready to get my glow on again and share with you my secret weapons...
1) Banila Co White Wedding Dream Cream
Delivers an instant brightening effect and a surge of moisture to keep the skin in its best condition for a crystal-clear bright-washed complexion.
Banila Co White Wedding Dream Cream Review
This is one of the most amazing creams I've ever used in my life.
The packaging is very high-end, mirror-like, and the lid looks gorgeous. I also appreciate that the lid really shuts close and it seems to keep the freshness of the cream inside. It feels like a heavy moisturizer on skin and it applies very smooth all over the face and neck.
The product looks just like a white cream and it doesn't have any glitters or shimmers in it, but let me tell you that this definitely gives you an instant glow. I prefer using this at night as a moisturizer/sleeping pack and I just wake up with luminous skin. It really has this instant glow effect which lasts upon everyday usage.
I feel like this product works best for dry to normal skin as an everyday moisturizer, and for people who sport oily-combination skin like me, a moisturizer/sleeping pack at night. You can use this sparingly as a highlighter for your cheekbones, as a day-moisturizer, and you can also mix this with your foundation if you feel like your face looks really dull.
I believe that this White Wedding Dream Cream is one of Banila Co's best-selling products and I gotta tell you, it really delivers what it promises. Use this at night and you'll definitely wake up with luminous skin.
2) The Face Shop YEHWADAM Pure Brightening Serum
The silky lightening serum deeply hydrates the skin and reduces the appearance of age spots and pigmentation with the help of pearl powder.
Yehwadam Brightening is an anti-aging skincare line that brightens skin while providing moisture with the help of traditional Korean herbs, ginseng and flowers. Yehwadam products are made with natural Korean ingredients processed by traditional methods passed down from one generation to another.
The Face Shop YEHWADAM Pure Brightening Serum Review
If you're more into serums than creams, The Face Shop's got you covered. The YEHWADAM Pure Brightening Serum comes in a heavy plastic bottle with a pump. It looks very simple, high-end, and the cap's design looks very intricate and it reminds me of old Korean dramas. I imagine that only the kings and queens used this back in the day and this might have been the reason why their skin looked so dewy.
The product looks just like a simple white cream, but it feels very lightweight and it turns instantly into liquid once applied on to skin. It also smells like floral perfume and it's quite relaxing whenever I use it.
I think the best part about this product is that it's a serum and you can layer it with other products in your routine. It dries fast with a semi-matte finish and it also moisturizes your skin while helping to brighten your age-spots and blemishes since it's also an anti-aging serum.
If you're looking for a lightweight product that gives you a natural sheen while helping your skin internally, definitely give this a try. I feel this works best on all skin-types, but if your skin still feels dry, you can layer moisturizer on top of this too.
3) THE ORDINARY Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
Starring a water-soluble derivative of vitamin C, this brightening serum provides antioxidant protection to reduce signs of ageing and even out skin tone. Ascorbyl glucoside is considered a gold standard of vitamin C derivatives, thanks to its high stability and comfortable effects – The Ordinary’s formulation is delivered as an easily applied serum for effortless use.
Shown to offer specific skin-brightening benefits, The Ordinary’s Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% consists of a water-soluble derivative of vitamin C. Though less potent than direct L-Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl glucoside offers high stability and comfortable use – this formulation is delivered as an effortlessly easy to use serum. In terms of effects, how do you like the sound of defence from free radical damage, even, radiant skin tone and diminished signs of ageing? Pretty difficult to resist! Just a few drops morning and night and you’re good to go.
THE ORDINARY Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% Review
I'm not very fond of their CEO as I feel that he just brings too much drama to the table and basically bad mouths everyone online, but hey, their products work.
I think we've all heard that we have to eat this, eat that, basically every citrus fruit from A to Z just to have glowing skin, but sometimes I just take a short cut and put skin vitamins directly on to my cheeks.
The packaging isn't too fancy, it comes in the basic THE ORDINARY glass bottle, but the dropper that it comes with is very precise and efficient. Once applied on skin, I didn't feel anything at all. I didn't feel any tingling or any burning effect unlike when I tried another Vitamin C derivative from another brand, so I was able to actually use this twice a day. This also kind of lathers up on skin which I find odd because it looks like I've applied soap on, and it takes a while before it dries. Good thing it's moisturizing and lightweight at the same time, so I can layer up another serum after this.
I didn't really notice this product solely lightening up my blemishes, but I did find that my skin's textured improved and it had a natural glow. This works best on all skin types and after all, it's skin vitamins in a bottle.
What skin-type do you have and what would you use out of the three?
Moving to a rural area, I had this mindset that the air was fresher, cleaner, and I wouldn’t have to deal with the pollution from cars and buses. I was so wrong. I never realized that moving here, just a few towns from an oil refinery and a power plant where my husband works, would be so bad especially for my skin.
Isn’t it enough that I’ve got hormonal acne to deal with? Now, I’m also breathing air that’s bad for me. My asthma was triggered in just a week and I had to go home to the south for a few days.
I just feel like it’s more polluted here compared to the city life. I see and feel bugs crawling everywhere. I need to sweep and mop the floor two to three times everyday because it just keeps on getting dirty. Where is all the dirt and dust coming from anyway? I just have no idea, so I’m assuming it’s in the air that comes into our home.
Aside from actual dirt and pollution, I have to share that there are no jeeps, cabs, nor grab drivers here. We have real buses - the ones that go to Manila, mini-buses – the small non-air-conditioned buses you see in old Filipino movies, and tricycles. Those three are the main modes of public transportation here.
After a week of living in this new place, I noticed my skin was looking dead, so I decided to use the Clearly Corrective Line. They’ve actually got four products in this line, but let me introduce you to the three products I’ve used.
The Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Brightening & Exfoliating Daily Cleanser efficiently removes traces of pollution, dirt, and residue while refining skin texture for a noticeable smoother and more luminous appearance. Its main ingredients are Pearlstone, a gentle exfoliant that helps refine and brighten the look of skin; White Birch Extract, which helps to visibly even skin tone; and peony extract, which works well with Activated C to enhance skin clarity.
I think this is the gentlest exfoliating cleanser I've ever tried. You can see these white micro beads which are actually Pearlstones and they are natural exfoliants derived from volcanic ash. It's a little crazy to think that you're using volcanic ash on your face, but hey, it's really effective. It has a subtle scent and the texture is quite thick, a little gooey-like, and the Pearlstones are so small and gentle that it's suitable to use on an everyday basis. I didn't notice any drying of skin nor dry patches like other exfoliators do, and it leaves my skin feeling clean, yet plump. Not dry.
Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Brightening & Smoothing Treatment Water PHP 2,265 for 200 ml
This treatment water instantly refreshes skin, hydrates, and visibly brightens with continued use to diminish the look of dullness and improve skin’s natural clarity overtime. Its key ingredients are Licorice Root, known for its soothing and calming properties, Activated C, which helps to visibly even skin tone and improve clarity; and White Birch Extract, which restores hydration to the skin.
Kiehl’s chemists carefully balanced the formula to deliver the right concentration of humectant ingredients to preserve skin moisture without the dreaded feeling of heaviness or stickiness.
This product can be applied in two ways, via a cotton pad or with our palms. Sometimes I prefer using my palms in terms of application just because I feel like I can pat the product more into my face and neck.
This treatment water is what I would call luminous in a bottle. It just brightens and hydrates my skin in an instant. No, this isn't a moisturizer, but it just leaves my skin feeling refreshed with every application. It doesn't feel sticky nor heavy... and yet it just delivers moisture into my very dehydrated skin. I think what I like the most about this product is that it dries matte, but it leaves your skin with a glow.
Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution Serum
PHP 2,995 for 30 ml
PHP 3,995 for 50 ml
Those stubborn dark spots as a result of sun exposure or acne need a more concentrated formula for them to fade away. This is where the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution Serum comes in. Formulated with Activated C, White Birch Extract, and Peony Extract, it diminishes the number and intensity of deep-set dark spots and skin discoloration over time.
I think this is my favorite product out of the whole Kiehl's Clearly Corrective line. I always bring this whenever I travel and I'm very thankful that the bottle hasn't broke on me after all this time. It comes in a glass bottle and I love the dropper that it comes with. It's very precise and I never waste any product at all.
The liquid is a little tacky compared to the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. It's more of a serum rather than an oil and it dries very quickly and very matte which I love. This is perfect for people who hate waiting for their skincare products to dry... I actually think the whole Kiehl's Clearly Corrective line dries quite fast. Anyway, I never experienced any stinging nor flaking while using this serum. It just lightens my pimple marks, dark spots, and any discoloration on my skin as days go by. I use it twice a day, in the morning and at night, and this is the effect that I had after three weeks. I noticed that some of my pimple marks were gone and some were on their way to say goodbye. I also noticed that it works faster on new blemishes rather than older ones.
Before and after of using the Kiehl's Clearly Corrective line for three weeks.
There's actually another product in the line which is called the Clearly Corrective Brightening & Smoothing Moisture Treatment. It's the fourth step in the daily battle against dullness and roughness of skin. It's also formulated with Activated C, White Birch Extract, and Glycolic Acid. It helps reduce the appearance of discolorations and rough texture for clearer, brighter skin. The moisturizer provides intense hydration and locks down the three products applied prior.
After three weeks of using the Kiehl's Clearly Corrective line, I'm very impressed with the outcome of my skin. I know that it costs more than other brands, but I'd rather stick to products that really work instead of trying different products with mediocre results. I'll surely be purchasing the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution Serum once it runs out because it has been the most effective lightening serum that I've tried on the market. It's something I'll stick with through the years.
My mom's makeup collection wasn't a lot. She had a few staple products in her vanity table and I remember her using a lot of lipsticks and blushes from Revlon and Estee Lauder. She also always had her Clinique powder in the green-colored compact and then everything seemed to change and get re-arranged in her table whenever my aunts would visit and bring her new makeup from the states. There was one product that she kept buying though, and it was the Revlon Colorstay foundation.
Back then, I never really understood nor appreciated foundation, but here I am now, sharing to you a foundation that I've repurchased and still loving the oil-control capabilities that it provides.
I have the Revlon Colorstay Foundation in the oily/combination type and in the shade Natural Tan or 330. This isn't my exact shade as of the moment as it seems like my face became lighter again compared to other parts of my body. Such a hassle really, when you matched your foundation a few months ago, and now you can't use it anymore.
Revlon Colorstay Foundation coverage test: Left is bare and right is with one layer.
Revlon Colorstay Foundation Review
One thing's changed about this foundation and it's the pump. A few years back, this was just a twist-up cap and I remember the hassle to get the product out. You either get too much, double-dip your fingers in the cap which isn't very sanitary, or for the worst parts, drop it and break the glass. I believe I wasn't the only one who had that issue and Revlon finally released this foundation with a pump. I am loving how efficient their pump is and how I can finally get the proper amount that I need,
I think their formula's also changed a bit. I remember that it had this certain smell and a few people hated it but I didn't mind it at all, and now, it seems like it's gone. The foundation's texture still remains smooth and liquidy although I am now preferring to use a Real Techniques sponge to apply this rather than my fingers or a brush. I just see these foundation streak lines whenever I use a buffing brush and I hate it because it doesn't look natural.
Coverage-wise, I know everybody says it can give full coverage, but in my case since I have a lot of red-blemishes, I do still need to use a corrector and a concealer to hide all my flaws. If you have clear skin, then you've got absolutely nothing to worry about. One layer of this foundation would be enough for you. I usually just use one layer and then spot-apply or just rely on my Tarte concealer since I feel like two to three layers is too much as it becomes too pore-less and looks very unnatural on me. And since this foundation doesn't match my skin right now, I only use it on my T-zone and I try to avoid dry areas on my face like my under-eyes and cheeks. I find that it clings on to those dry areas and looks patchy and flaky especially on the sides of my nose.
Also, summer 2018 was really humid and hot, oil-control really varied. On some days my oils seeped through after just two to three hours and on other days when I'm in an air-conditioned room or a cooler area, I usually pat my T-zone with tissue or retouch after four to five hours. I don't blame Revlon Colorstay for its performance this past month since I know it's one of the best oil-controlling foundations in the market. I also remember last December that I used it the whole day and I didn't need to retouch at all and my face still looked fresh. It's a real good foundation I swear.
I know there's already tons of Revlon Colorstay foundation reviews out there, but I just wanted to share my thoughts and how the coverage is for people who have blemished skin like me. I honestly kind of hate it when people review foundation and don't show before and afters. Haha. But that's just me!
I believe this foundation retails for PHP 825 right now, way higher than when my mom was buying it for only PHP 500. But hey, that's literally more than 10 years now and it's still pretty affordable when you look at it in that perspective. Still a best-selling product from Revlon!
Is this the best Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Primer dupe that I've tried? Probably so...
Celeteque 24-Hour Photoready Matte Primer
Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-Hour Photoready Matte Primer has a silky and weightless formula that glides onto skin creating a smooth, matte and flawless look. It minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines and reduces shine for a long lasting makeup wear.
How Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-Hour Photoready Matte Primer works?
Polymethyl Methacrylate effectively minimizes pores and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Silica reduces the excess oil for that silky soft look and feel. Dimethicone (and) Dimethicone Crosspolymer form a protective barrier on the skin and increase longevity of makeup.
Please don't mind my hand's dryness right now. I believe it's from the dish-washing liquid that we're using. I can't wait to go to the south and get my hand creams at home.
Anyway, it looks very similar to the Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional doesn't it?
Before and after using the Celeteque 24-Hour Photoready Matte Primer.
Celeteque 24-Hour Photoready Matte Primer Review
If you're into minimalist looking products, then you better check out the whole Celeteque Dermocosmetics range as it all comes in neat white plastic packaging. This primer comes in a squeeze-tube container which I find very convenient to use, although I'm not entirely sure how I'll know when it's completely empty unless I cut the tube into two.
This primer promises to be matte and it definitely delivers immediate results. If you see the photo above, it can mattify your skin in just a matter of seconds, reduce the shine, and make pores less visible to the naked eye. It's truly weightless as it promises and it really does glide on skin upon application. When it comes to making makeup last longer, I would have to say it depends on the base or foundation that you're using. An example would be it works great with Maybelline Fit Me, but it doesn't work well with Revlon Colorstay in terms of oil-control. You kind of have to mix and match your bases and see what works best with this primer. I also feel like powder-foundations work great together with this matte primer.
I think what I like the most about this primer is how it makes textured skin feel smooth and how it minimizes the pores. This is probably the closest dupe to the Porefessional and it only retails half the price as it's only PHP 825. There are days where I want to look presentable but I don't necessarily want to wear makeup, so I apply this primer, some brows, a lip tint and that's it. Even though it doesn't color-correct nor hide any blemishes, I still think it gives me a my-skin-but-better look. I guess I'm just tired of my skin looking all-shiny all the time. Lol. Plus points because it's perfect for sensitive skin.
My mornings usually start around 6 a.m., if I’ll be doing some cooking or 6:45 where I just bid the husband goodbye for the day. After that, I’m all alone for the next 12 hours or so and the first thing on my to-do list is making a cup of coffee.
I bought this mug last December as a birthday gift to myself. I think what drew me to it was the marble with gold flecks print on one side, and then a black/gold chevron pattern on the other. The first thing that popped into my mind was that I would be using this mug in our new home after the wedding, so I kept it inside my drawer for about five months.
I have a little thing about coffee mugs and I keep buying them even though I have enough. I don’t use glasses, so that seems fair enough, don’t you think? Right now, I have three that I use. This marble one for the apartment, and two more that I left in the south: a grey polkadot print and a pure blush pink mug which I all got from Landmark.
I love coffee and I think my day isn’t complete without having one. The bitter, the better and I kind of miss the coffee shop in Southwoods right now called Manila’s Best Coffee. I just like the bittersweet strong kick that their blended drinks have compared to other coffee shops in the south. I’m also not particular about the coffee I’m drinking right now, so my definite go-to is the Kopiko Black, the 3-in-1 that comes in sachets. We do have a coffee machine, two in fact, both given as wedding gifts, but we’ve yet to buy coffee grounds and filters as we’re still currently exploring the shops here in this new place.
I also use a steel straw from SIP. Remember the time when I had my teeth whitened? I’ll link it up here. But my dentist told me that if I can’t avoid coffee, milk teas, juices, basically any colored drinks aside from water, then I should always use a straw. It seems to be working though. The back of my teeth are wayy yellow-er than my front, so that’s a good sign right? Haha. I believe I got the straw for PHP 120, not such a bargain because steel straws are way cheaper right now, but at least I know it’s doing its job and it’s super easy to clean.
I hope you still find this mug in stores. This retails for PHP 140, so it's super affordable. Landmark has a lot of options to choose from so I’m sure you’ll find a new favorite mug.
The Careline Kiss Stick in Vacay and Just Better have become my most recent purchases. I know I already had four Careline Kiss Sticks, but I wanted more.
I really, really try not to purchase anymore makeup especially lipsticks ever since I accounted the products that I had. And man, oh man, who knew that my NEW lipsticks would be counting up to a hundred?
Anyway, what made me change my mind and buy more of these Careline Kiss Sticks? My answer’s pretty simple.
If a lipstick can survive ice-cream, I need it.
I attended the Careline Kiss Sticks launch a few weeks back right before I went to this awful place I call the north. LOL. Anyway, it was held in BGC and I was introduced to a new line of lipsticks with 12 beautiful shades. It retails for PHP 175 a pop.
Careline Kiss Sticks
Long-wearing and comfortable on the lips. The Careline Kiss Sticks are richly pigmented matte lipsticks without the dryness. It smoothly glides on the lips and blend outward with your fingertips with just one swipe!
How to use?
Glide lipstick on exfoliated lips for an intense, bold color. May also be applied on the center of the lips and blend outward with your fingertips for a more subtle color.
It has 1.3 grams of product which is a little more than your average lipstick.
Oh, wait, there’s a little a surprise at the bottom too.
The bottom cap is actually a Kiss-Stick sharpener.
Swatching these are a dream because they just glide on my skin.

Careline Kiss Stick Review
When I like a product, I usually just wait for it to hit stores and then buy it. But with these Careline Kiss Sticks, I just knew that I had to have more and immediately. I already had four shades when I attended the #CarelineKissParty, but I really wanted more MLBB shades, so I ordered online. Sadly, the other shades that I wanted were out of stock, so I ended up buying only two.
This isn’t your regular chubby sticks. These Kiss Sticks come in a long slim white packaging, smaller than a chubby stick, but definitely bigger than your average lip pencil. It has 1.3 grams which gives you more product than your average lipsticks. The tip of the lipsticks are round, which I don’t really prefer, but hey, there’s actually a lipstick sharpener at the bottom cap. I think it’s amazing especially for people like me who likes sharp and angled lines. These two caps also has a clicking sound whenever I close them, so you don’t have to worry about the lipstick cap or the sharpener falling off. Another thing to note, even though I’ve dropped these a few times, nothing’s broken on me yet.
These Careline Kiss Sticks truly just glided on whilst I was swatching them for the photos. It applied very, very smooth on my skin and pigmentation is superb. One swipe already gives you the true and full color of the lipstick. They have a very pleasant subtle scent which I love. It smells very similar to the EB Kris Life Kit lipsticks, but I feel like these are more pigmented than the latter.
If you haven’t seen my recent IG story on how well the color lasted on my lips, here’s a breakdown of the meals I ate while wearing the shade Vacay: Chicken nuggets with rice meal; Avocado ice-cream; Junk food; Chicken and rice meal again. I ate all of those throughout a blogger event and I didn’t even need to touch up my lipstick. My Careline Kiss Stick in the shade Vacay was there to stay. It doesn’t transfer much on straws, glasses and cutlery, and it also doesn’t go out of my lip lines. It does provide a matte-finish, but my lips never really felt chapped nor dry throughout the wear. I believe I wore this from 8 a.m. all the way to 4 p.m. without having to retouch at all.
Overall, this gets my two thumbs up and I would definitely recommend this to my friends. These Careline Kiss Sticks are extremely pigmented, long-wearing, and very, very comfortable on the lips. I swear it lasted through a whole cone of avocado ice-cream in which the color just faded and didn’t completely disappear. I’ve got friends who can attest. LOL. If you’re sporting chapped lips, better to exfoliate first prior to wear or use lip balm. This is also super affordable at only PHP 175 and will be available soon in all leading stores.
I can’t wait to see this in stores. I still want to get the shade Lucid and Native since they’re sold out online and some of the colors remind me very much of my PHP 1,000 lipsticks. If you’re looking for a nude or MLBB shade, I think Vacay is the perfect one to get.
P.S. Congratulations Jhake O for being the May reader of the month! Please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org :)
Mechanics for the next giveaway will be posted soon... Let's all pray we get stable internet connection soon!
Last week, I attended the EB Kris Life Kit launch and I got to know more about Kris Aquino and her new makeup line in collaboration with Ever Bilena.
I wouldn’t call myself a fan of Kris Aquino, but I think the moment the interview started, I became one.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been to too a lot of brand and product launches where personalities are included, but so far this is my favorite one. I felt like I met the real Kris Aquino in this short amount of time and understood her personality even more. Love her or hate her, one thing I have to say is that she’s just being true to what she is. She’s just a big talker and she admits that she’s maarte and shares too much information about her. I love that she’s being true to herself and doesn’t care what other people think. I sorta love her right now... and hey, I am loving her makeup with Ever Bilena.
Let’s start off with her EB Kris Life Kit...

Kris Matte Matic Lipstick Review
I’ve tried other EB Advance Matic Lipsticks before, and I can say that I definitely feel more matte-ness with these Kris Aquino lipsticks as it claims. Kris also insists on how important packaging is, and I am fully on-board with her on that. It comes in a black box with her Kris logo and hearts printed on it, very, very cute and sturdy. It looks high-end as that was the feel that she was aiming for. As for the Kris Matte Matic lipstick itself, you get more than your average lipstick as this chubby stick contains 2.5 grams, twice the amount as your regular lipsticks.
For the texture, I can’t believe how creamy and matte it is at the same time. It just glides on my lips without any effort and it’s extremely pigmented as it gives off full color with just one swipe. It has a matte finish but I never found it drying at all. I never felt like my lips needed moisture or that it emphasizes any dry patches. In fact, my lips looked plump all day while wearing these Kris Matte Matic Lipsticks.
On longevity, I find that this is a lipstick that you need to set. And by that, I mean that it works better if I don’t eat nor drink for 30 minutes or more upon application. I’ve tested it in various ways and I found that it actually becomes kiss-proof and transfer-proof on days where I set it versus on days that I don’t. Whenever I eat something dry like cookies or chips, I never really need to re-touch at all. However, it does transfer a bit on cups and glasses, but it doesn’t fully go missing on your lips as it leaves a bit of a stain. Final verdict on how long it lasts? Five hours or more... it actually varies depending on how often you eat heavy meals as I do always need to re-apply after eating lunch or dinner.
When I first thought about Kris Aquino releasing a pink lipstick, I seriously thought it was going to be a hot pink... but no! The Kris Matte Matic Lipstick in Life is an insanely wearable shade and is something perfect for everyday. It looks very MLBB-ish and I really love the color. It looks mauve, cool toned, and I see a lot of people rocking this shade out. Meanwhile, I find the Kris Matte Matic Lipstick in Love a very sexy shade. It’s almost like a red-ish pink and definitely a show-stopper. I’m actually planning to wear the shade Love to one of of my date nights with the husband.
I love the lipsticks and it’s something that you definitely have to try. Kris Aquino and Ever Bilena have truly given us high-end quality lipsticks at an affordable price of PHP 245. Whenever I review lipsticks, I usually say a favorite shade of mine, but right now, I am suggesting you get both colors because they are truly worth having.

Kris Matte Brow Liner and Brow Mascara Review
For the past few days, I've given up my brow pomades because I have been using these Kris Matte Brow Liners non-stop. I actually just got back in the south and I found myself packing up these brow pencils rather than my other brow products because they're more travel friendly. This is a 2-in-1 product that contains a brow pencil and a brow mascara and I like that I can immediately distinguish which one I'm picking up because of the color packaging. I also find it very sturdy as even though I've dropped this a dozen times, the liner hasn't broken yet.
For the brow pencil, I did not find the texture waxy at all. I just love the formula and I find it very pigmented and long-lasting. Mind you, it was raining the whole day and as we braved through the storm, I found my brows to be still on point. It's pretty water-proof or rain-proof if you ask me and smudge-proof as well. It's also pretty pigmented, especially the shade Beyond Brown. I usually fill my brows in sparse areas and then brush it off with a spoolie just to even everything out and then coat it with the brow mascara.
Oh, and have you noticed the shapes of the brow liner and the brow mascara? They're kind of in a triangular shape which I really, really find easy to use as I haven't used a brow pencil in a long time. Kris insisted that she wanted these triangular shapes in her products and I gotta thank her on that decision as I really find this convenient and easy to use for beginners. Last thing to note about the brow mascara is that even after coating my brows multiple times, once it's set, my brows still stay super soft.
Just like the lipsticks, I am in love with the Kris Matte Brow Liner and Brow Mascara product. I find that it fills my sparse brows in an instant and it makes it look very natural at the same time. The brow mascara coats and keeps my brows in place and hey, I tested it through a storm and my kilay did not go missing in action. These are must-try products and these will be staying inside my makeup bag for sure.
Hey, a little secret between the two of us, Kris will be producing more lipstick shades and more makeup products with Ever Bilena. What kind of products are you excited about?
A lot of people have been raving about this, so it’s time to try it out!

V&M CPC + G Oil Review
This oil seems to have a lot of fans. And I’m going against the current here, because I used this to try and lighten my blemishes, but I felt like it didn’t do anything on a span of two to four weeks. I stopped.
Packaging-wise, I hate the pump. Even though there’s a plastic cap on, I find that the oil kept spilling all over my vanity table and makeup bag when I traveled. I also find that it didn’t dispense liquid equally nor efficiently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, such a hassle. What I do like about it is that the bottle is clear and I can immediately see how much product I’ve used up.
I found the four ingredients in this oil intriguing because with all the acids and extracts inside, I thought that this would sting my skin... It didn’t. In fact, there wasn’t any stinging or burning or itching throughout the whole time I used it on my face. It just felt like the normal oil, only that it didn’t feel as sticky and it dried a lot quicker compared to other brands.
And since it didn’t have any effect on my blemishes, I thought I’d use it for my elbows. Et voila, I finally saw something happening. Over the course of a month, I really did see an improvement on my elbows. It looked a little lighter, although not something miraculous, and as for the texture, my elbows didn’t feel as rough compared to how it was before. Not really a huge improvement, but it was still something to note. It’s a little smoother and softer now.
Using this CPC + G Oil alone, there weren’t any huge magical moments over the course of two months. I used this religiously everyday on my elbows for a month, and yes, there was an improvement, but it wasn’t something that’s really noticeable for all the time I spent applying and waiting for it to dry. I’m not sure if I needed to use another product together with this oil, but I wasn’t wow-ed by it.
I don’t know... a lot of people seem to swear by it, so it must surely work wonders on them.
