A student who qualifies for the MD program has to procure the pre-requisites of passing with 60% in the 12th standard in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. This MD program starts with a bang with a 5, 16-week semesters in Jamaica and the sixth semester is in Jamaica/USA. The initial couple of years of the curriculum focus on courses in the Basic Sciences and their application to clinical medicine. Semesters start in the months of January, May and September, and any student can begin his study in any of these semesters. In addition to the lectures in the class rooms, laboratory work and learning which is problem based; students also make community and hospital visits, practice the practice of history taking from patients and physically  exam the patients in Clinical Simulation Training rooms on the college campus. Upon the successful completion of all these five semesters, students receive intensive training to pass the US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE Step 1) in their sixth semester with an option to receive this training at the Jamaican campus or the campus at the USA. Students are required to pass the Step 1 of the USMLE to make their entry into the third year of the Clinical Sciences of MD Program. The Clinical Sciences program takes place in the 3rd and the 4th years. In these years students get trained in how to take care and study the progress of patients in the hospitals. The training comprises of clinical rotation of 96 weeks in both core and elective subjects. Once the required clinical rotations are completed, students are required to pass the Step 2 of the USMLE and the CS exams. After completion of the third and the fourth years, the students graduate with this MD degree and having successfully passed the USMLE exams, 2CK and CS graduates receive ECFMG certification that makes them eligible to participate in the Residency Matching Process in the USA.

The total credit of 48 hours of the different subjects is:

Internal Medicine: 12 // Surgery : 12 // Family Practice : 06 //O&G : 06 // Pediatrics: 06 // Psychiatry : 06. And the elective rotations are of 32 weeks.

NEET 2019 examination would be conducted by NTA on May 5, 2019. MCI has made NEET 2019 mandatory for students who wish to study MBBS/ medicine from abroad.

NEET 2019: National Testing Agency, NTA would soon release the admit cards for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2019 examination. Candidates would be well aware that as per the revised policies and provisions of the Medical Council of India, as notified in the official gazette, all who are planning to study MBBS from abroad are required to qualify NEET examination. This brings us to the current topic – under the new rules, exactly how many marks do you need to score in NEET to be eligible to study medicine abroad.

To begin with, it is important to note here that the provisions require candidates to ‘qualify’ NEET examination. Furthermore, as per the official notification the qualifying cut off for NEET 2019 for general category is 50 percentile and for SC, ST and OBC Category is 40 percentile. PwD candidates are required to score within the 45 percentile (in UR) and 40 percentile for reserved category.

Percentile score essentially mean that if 100 students appear from general category, then in order to qualify, the candidates need to score more than 50 students and not getting 50 per cent marks. The cut off for 50, 45 and 40 percentile scores for NEET 2018 are provided below as an indicative measure of marks candidates may be required to score.

In 2018, as many as 12,69,922 candidates appeared for the examination. Of the total, 7, 14, 562 candidates qualified the examination. Kindly note that the cut off is subject to changes and the 50t percentile mark may differ based on the number of candidates that actually appear. However, the variation of the score is usually to about plus/minus 15 marks. Last year the 50 percentile mark was 119, 45th percentile was at about 107 and 40th percentile score was 96.

The system of medical system in the Philippines offered is the American system and the Primary Medical qualification is that of an M.D. degree (MBBS). This qualification is globally recognized including the Medical Council of India. NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 2: National Board of Examination (NBE) has released an official notice on February 2, 2019, announcing the date of Foreign Medical Graduate Exam – FMGE exam for June session. As per the official notification, FMGE 2019 June session will be conducted on June 28, in computer based platform across various centres throughout the country. The screening test is conducted for medical graduates of foreign country who wish to practice in India. The authority conducts FMGE exam biannually for June and December session.

The notice further specifies that, the FMGE information brochure mentioning details related to crucial events like eligibility criteria, fee structure, scheme of examination and other such information will be released in the month of April/May 2019.

Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), who wish to get a provisional or permanent registration with Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council (SMC) are required to qualify the screening test. According to Screening Test Regulations 2002, such candidates need to have primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India.

Who are eligible?

Candidates considered as an Indian citizen or OCI can appear for the exam. Aforementioned, such aspirants must possess a primary medical qualification recognised by the Indian Embassy concerned. The medical qualification should be issued by a recognised institution of the respective country. The proof/relevant documents in support of an applicant passing the undergraduate medical education should be submitted to the authority on or before May 31, 2019.

Aspirants whose applications will be accepted by the authority can appear for the FMGE exam. It is mandatory to download and carry the admit card at the allotted exam centre along with the ID proof(s) for verification purpose.

FMGE Paper Pattern

The online screening test will contain 300 objective type questions from MBBS curriculum. FMGE 2019 June session will be divided into two parts – Part A and Part B. Each part will be of 150 minutes making a total of 300 minutes. The medium of the exam will be English only.
