I had a lot of requests to round up home items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and now that it’s full access, I thought I’d share what I found! I’ve never really shopped the home area of Nordstrom during the sale but I was quite surprised by a lot of nice pieces!
The thing I really loved the most are these Terrazzo Boards. They show them as cheese boards but I rarely use trays like this for kitchen items. I used them in the bathroom for my makeup, skincare or to put jewelry on, just because it’s a prettier display than most makeup organizers. OR you can put cheese on this fancy board as well. Cheese or makeup — what a range. Find this board here!
I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about this Barefoot Dreams Throw Blanket, which is made from the same material as their lovely cardigans! I loved this rose color, because of course I do. We don’t have much pink in our house but I think this could fit in really nicely. Find this blanket here!
I’m going to count this as home…even though you use it to leave home. I saw this luggage set and thought it was a great deal and I love the color! You don’t see too many pink suitcases out there yet so yours would be easy to find! Find this suitcase set here.
Happy Friday, friends! It’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Public Access so let’s get to it! What did I buy and keep?? I know you’ve been DYING to know. So you can finally take a breath and sleep at night because here is the post!
I’ll be wearing this pair of denim in the entire try-on! This is the only pair of blue denim I ended up buying. I really really love Frame denim — they are a high quality denim for the price during Anniversary sale, so for me they are worth grabbing up. The only reason I stuck with one pair this year is because…I have a lot of denim, as you very well know! Since these are basically sold out (a few sizes left here) I wanted to point that there is one more pair of Frame Denim on sale that isn’t distressed but is almost fully in stock! The fit will be very similar to these. Stay true to size in what you are in AG or Paige, I am a 29 in these. They don’t stretch out with wear but will loosen from the first try on.
(With that being said, go with the designer jeans that rarely go on sale if you are looking for denim this year! AG, Paige, Rag & Bone are all really good buys during this sale! I received this pair of Rag & Bone denim from Nordstrom as a gift and I’ll be revieiwing them on IG stories later today.)
This pair of Madewell denim I spotted when I was making some returns of my initial buy. This is the opposite of what I was supposed to be doing by the way. I couldn’t believe I didn’t see them earlier because they are exactly what I will want this fall. I just know it. They are a kick flare black denim with a high-waist, in true Madewell form. They fit true to size, very stretchy material which is just perfect because it hugs all the curves and the little kick at the end is super flattering. You can find them here. I will say this — they feel like a similar material to the Madewell black skinny jeans I trash talked in my first post but they aren’t as scratchy as them and they are stretchier. I like these so much more than the straight skinny jeans, as black denim can be one note. I am in the 29, my typical Madewell size! PS: these jeans are FULL stock as of publication!
I’m actually surprised this cardigan isn’t sold out to be completely honest. It’s lightweight, it’s a really nice length and it comes in a few colors that would all be great for fall! I am in the medium and it fits true to size, but I would suggest sizing down if you are petite or your top runs smaller. I love the oatmeal color as it will go with everything from now until next spring, it’s a nice light color and it feels different than my typical go to which is a camel or tan cardigan. (For length reference, I am 5’9″)
I would suggest sizing down in this blazer. I am in the 8 but it’s pretty oversized. Topshop is either wayyyyy too small or wayyyyy too big, so it’s always a crapshoot with them. But I am in the 8 and that’s my typical size and I’m happy with this fit but it definitely is roomy in here, just FYI. I would not say it’s a tailored TTS, it’s a relaxed fit that I think will vary on different body types, so if you are smaller on the top, size down one from your typical size. If you have broader shoulders or carry weight in your chest / arms, then stay true to size for a boyfriend type fit.
All that to say…I LOVE this blazer! It has a hint of blue throughout the check and it’s just cool looking. I 100% envisioned this outfit when I tried in on in the dressing room. I just feel cool, you know?
I’ll be honest — these are weird pants. But once you put them on they make sense. They are more olive than yellow-green that they show online and they have a slight sheen to them. I am in the medium and they fit but they are fitted for me in the waist / hips. I have to wear seamless underwear with them because they do show a panty line, just FYI. (My personal favorite here.) I would say TTS and if they are snug at first, give them a wear and they loosen with wear. They would be so cute with sneakers too! I truly love them. I’ve already gotten stains on them, so you know it’s love.
I love these shirts from Madewell and this one is perfect for summer. It’s a light coral / sage mix and it’s darling! Lightweight, loose and honestly just perfectly Madewell. I am in the medium. I always find that they run true to size IF You want it to fit loosely. If not, size down one.
I can’t explain it but I just love this dress. It’s pretty simple — just a navy wrap dress — but I love the flutter sleeves and it fits my boobs! In fact, it’s a little bit loose on my boobs which is really an exciting thing for me, ha! I would say size down one if you are smaller up top. You may need to add a camisole underneath because the top does open a little bit but that’s not a deal breaker for me because it’s just so pretty. The skirt is flowy, the sleeves are the exact right length and it can work for basically any season. I am in the 8, my true to size. (PS this dress is nursing friendly!)
This is a wrap top from Vince Camuto that I thought would just be a nice basic. I was waiting for this top to come back in stock in my size but it never did, so I found this one and really like it! It’s not silk, but a crepe material so that may be a deal breaker for some. But it’s thick enough that it’s not see-through but it’s light enough to wear it now. There is a button to keep the top closed at the chest area which is nice. It comes in a few other colors, but I just love a classic white top. I am in the medium, I find it true to size! Size down if you are smaller on top! But if you have bigger boobs, this shirt works great! Nursing friendly too.
It’s kind of hard to see the full effect of this skirt, but I posted it earlier this week here! I love it — it’s so unusual and honestly just a cool find! I sized up to 10 and let me tell you — it’s still tight. It fits like a tight 8. So I would say size up one for sure, especially if you carry weight in your tummy (here here). That’s where it fits the tightest.
I didn’t really sell it there did I? LOL. Sizing issues aside, it’s a cool skirt to wear now or later. I love it with a simple white blouse or a t-shirt or sweater later on! I mean sky is the limit!
Sadly this blouse is almost sold out! I loved it so much that I went back for it. I would watch this blouse because I feel like it will come back in stock. I am in the large because it was the only size in store but honestly I really like how it fits. I wouldn’t suggest sizing up, I think it’s a TTS but I like this fit. If that makes sense! Hoping this top comes back around in more sizes in a few days!
If I had to tell you to buy ONE pair of shoes, it would probably be these:
I was SO surprised by these. I saw them in store and picked them up to try and ya’ll — they are beautiful. They look so much more expensive than they are ($65). They are a soft leather that keeps its shape but hasn’t once rubbed at all. They are comfortable to wear and they are that magical tan color that goes with everything. I am in the 10, fit is true to size!
ALSO: re the bad review on these. WHAT. A review said they are uncomfortable and I am having the complete opposite experience. My only thought is that she bought the black and perhaps that’s a different leather than the brown? I went to link and saw that one star and my mouth was a-gap. But to each their own.
I’m also waiting on my shipment of these Vince Heels! Fingers crossed they are a perfect fit!
Okay if I had to tell you to buy two pairs of shoes (besides those Vince Mules) it would be these Madewell flats. I love this pair of flats so much, I’ve worn them all week. They are just an easy slide on for now through fall. I will say that I’m glad they are on sale because I wouldn’t recommend buying them at the full $90 price but for under $60 I think they are a great buy for a suede flat. I am in the 10. True to size, but pretty fitted. Size up a half size if you’re in between.
I’m actually on the fence with these Marc Fisher Loafers! I am in the 9.5, by the way. They run a half size too big. I haven’t worn them out of the house yet because I’m still on the fence. I love them, they are comfortable but I’m just not sure if they will go with everything I want them too. I think it may be because I’m not in that ‘fall’ state of mind yet. We will see, I may keep them for a bit to see if I change my mind! What are your thoughts?
I ended up buying two pairs of sneakers (the Adidas and Nike above) because this is when I always buy my sneakers for the year! Isn’t that funny? These are my new gym sneakers, say hello. I LOVE the Nike ones — they are like walking on clouds. True to size. But the Adidas you need to go down one half size.
Last but not least…I bought two purses even though I said I wasn’t going to even look at handbags. LOL to that version of Kendi.
Ya’ll. I LOVE this hobo suede bag. If you were looking for one bag to purchase, may I humbly suggest this one that I also have so we can be bag twins. I love it — it’s lined, it has an inside pocket, it fits everything perfectly and it comes with a strap to also be a crossbody. It’s just a nice bag and I love this kind of reddish hue. It feels different than other bags I have. Find this bag here!
I also love this crossbody, but as Bryan pointed out, I haven’t been as drawn to it as the hobo bag. I’ll see if I do in the next few weeks because I just find the little shape darling. I can fit everything in it but I use a smaller wallet. It’s a nice size as well for a crossbody. Find it here!
Okay so let me preface this with saying I am true loyalist with brands when it comes to my beauty routine. If I find a product I like, I stick with that product for YEARS. I like what I like and I’m not too adventurous when it comes to spending money on just trying things out. This is shopping at the beauty counter in your 30s by the way. In my 20s I basically closed my eyes and picked something and bought it. If it didn’t work, oh well! I’d just toss it to the no pile and find something else to try. But now my purchases are researched, thought-out and well loved.
On the other hand, I can get stuck in a rut with my makeup. I love the simplicity of my routine these days because I’ve got it down pat, but this year especially I was just feeling kind of boring. I immediately realized that what was missing was my variety in lipsticks. I got to think about it and realized I’ve been using the same lip color every single day for 3 years. THREE YEARS, you guys. That’s a commitment! So what is this daily hue? The cult favorite — Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk. It’s the prettiest mauve / dark rose color that goes with everything. And it’s a lip color that you put on that doesn’t feel like your lipstick is entering the room before you do. You know what I mean? I feel like it’s such a natural shade for me, I just feel complete in my look.
my everyday makeup
Here is my most beloved lip color. I bought this guy in January.
It’s obviously very well loved! But I think that it’s high time I mix up my lip routine, so I decided to stick with my favorite brand for lipsticks, Charlotte Tilbury, and I went on a little color journey. I went to the Nordstrom beauty counter and asked for the best matches and ended up finding 4 lipsticks that I truly love and can be worn year round. (Side note: I’m always SO intimidated by the beauty section but I shouldn’t have been! The makeup artists I worked with were so nice!) I found a nude, a bright pink, my favorite mauve, and a bold red. Let’s get to the lipsticks!
Here are the four lipsticks I ended up loving the most! (Sorry for the almost used up tube of Pillow Talk — I told you she is a favorite! But if you’re a perfectionist, I apologize in advance if this collage *triggers* you.)
Surprising Fave: Nude Kate
Let’s start with the nude lipstick — ‘Nude Kate.’ Nude is a hard shade for me with my coloring as I usually just end up looking like I need to drink some water and get some sun. But as I soon discovered the right shade of nude paired with smooth, hydrated lips and a little bit of gloss help a nude lipstick so much! Hydrated and exfoliated lips create a smooth base for the lipstick that will show everything and the gloss helps give a bit of dimension and shine to your lips! This lipstick is a bit shiny on it’s own as well, so you don’t have to add a gloss but I loved the look with the gloss. See my looks below!
This nude is almost just a bit darker than other nude lips I’ve tried out, so I think it really works for me and my skin tone. It gives my lips a base color (paired with the lip liner too) instead of just kind of muting out my lips in general, which is what I’ve always felt happened with a nude lip. I’ve always been so envious of people who can wear a nude lip and now I think I’m one of them! Dreams do come true. Find this lipstick in Nude Kate here.
Perfect Pink: Liv It Up
Okay next I knew I wanted a pink but not an obnoxious pink OR one that just ends up looking like frosting on my lips. (Is it just me or does pink lipstick sometimes get chalky looking? Just me? Cool.) I’m obviously very particular so you can see why I’ve stuck with ONE lipstick for 3 years. But then I found this pink lip. Liv It Up was the shade that best matched my skin tone and my everyday makeup and I love it. It’s not too thick in color and slides on perfectly. You can layer it so it’s more vivid or you can do one swipe, add some balm over it and have a light look that’s perfect for everyday. (I also used the ‘Pillow talk’ lip liner in the post below!) Let’s just say Elle Woods would be proud of this hue.
I did two layers of this color and it’s just the perfect pink. It’s not TOO perfect, you know? Sometimes pink can feel like Barbie circa 1993, or like you are wearing lipstick for the first time. But this pink feels grown up and feminine without feeling like it’s too much color at once. It goes really well with my brown tones of my eyeshadow too! Win win because I don’t have to change a thing about my everyday makeup routine, I can just switch out my lips for a new look. Find this pink lipstick here!
Bold Choice: Hot Emily
If you were scrolling for the BOLD lip, then it’s time for you to stop the scroll. This is one beautiful shade of red. This is called Hot Emily and honestly I felt like changing my name to Emily after putting this on. Red can be tricky as well when trying to find the right shade, as one red does not fit all. This one is a bright warm coral hue. When I first saw it I thought this isn’t going to be the red color I’m looking for, but once putting it on — it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I didn’t want a deep red (try ‘Carina’s Love’ for a deep red hue!) and I knew I wanted it to be a softer look than the typical red-orange color I’ve used before (try ‘Tell Laura’ for a more vibrant poppy red!) This one was the exact in between of those two colors.
Isn’t it so pretty? Now it’s BOLD and I felt bold wearing it. In fact, I might have to get used to it again (I used to wear red all of the time, remember??) But it’s my experience that after wearing a red lip a few times, you get used to the look on you and you kind of forget how bold it is. This color is definitely good for pairing with a simple outfit for a nice POP of color or for a night out! I used the lip liner and balm with this look, but did not use the Collagen lip bath as I didn’t want a too glossy look. This lipstick has a bit of a shine to it so it’s not matte, which is nice because you don’t have to be too perfect with the application. You can find this bold lipstick here!
Everyday Fave: Pillow Talk
And last but certainly not least, the cult favorite: Pillow Talk. I’m still dying over the fact that I didn’t buy a new one to shoot for this post. But at least you know this one is very well loved! I’ve got about a month and a half of use with this guy, so come September I’ll be due for a new Pillow Talk. I just love this lipstick. I discovered it in 2016 and it’s just always been in my makeup bag or my purse. It’s the best color to swipe on in one application and you just feel upgraded. I always wanted to find my signature lipstick and I did in this one.
Isn’t it so soft and pretty? I told you, it’s a lot less intimidating and dark once you get it on your lips. To mix up how I usually wear it (matte) I used the Collagen Lip Gloss over this. Which by the way is such a nice plumping gloss, as it doesn’t burn like most do and it smells like peppermint! This probably started early with my love of Lip Smackers but I love a scented lip gloss. Somethings never die.
And of course, while we were shooting Gemma wanted in on the action. She loves ‘lips’ as she calls them.
Start them young, right?
I hope this post was helpful for you if you have been looking for some new lip color or beauty inspiration! I’m just at a place now that I want a product that I will love and use and Charlotte Tilbury is it for me for lipstick. I love makeup retailers but find myself ordering from Nordstrom for my favorite beauty products because I know I can order and pick up or their always free shipping. They are always in stock and a little tip, most of the time I use my notes on my makeup orders so it’s basically like free lipsticks or foundation! You can see all of Nordstrom’s beauty brands here in a nicely curated selection of best-sellers, so you can’t go wrong. Shop Nordstrom’s Beauty collection here!
This post is brought to you in collaboration with Nordstrom! Special thanks to Nordstrom for our long-time partnership and all the thanks to YOU dear reader for supporting the brands that support this blog!
WHEW. This is a POST. I honestly thought ‘oh I’ll post a few things here or there from the baby section’ Um no, obviously I did not do that. I took a broader approach even though I just have a toddler girl, I know that this is not the normal for everyone. So I pretended that I was shopping for ALL THE BABIES AND KIDS and look what I found. A LOT of good things! So I’ll walk you through them below. The links are below in order and you can also click on the ‘+’ sign in the photo. I’ve designated the items with an * as baby only, so those sizes will only go from infant up to a 24-month.
I definitely think if your kid wants logo items, Nike and Adidas and Under Armour are available for less than typical prices. Seems like most are about 30% off! So that’s good if you’re looking for back to school deals. Find all brand name athletic wear here.
Denim once again is something to look at especially for big kids! Lots of great ‘designer’ denim on sale for under $50.
I specifically said that the Nordstrom Sale was amazing for denim…and here I am on my second skirt. Ha! Look, denim is such a good everyday staple but for some reason these two skirts (The snakeskin one) and this mini just caught my eye. I have a love-hate relationship with skirts. Literally — one season I love them, the next I hate them. Right now I’m in a love stage. I’ve been loving skirts for a good while now and these two fit right in.
The Anniversary sale is a bit tough for me because I’m very much a right now kind of shopper (what about you??) I don’t *love* buying things for the 6 month+ future. Now hear this: my future self WISHES I did myself this favor but it’s just my nature to want to wear the new right now. So I tend to be drawn to ‘right now’ pieces like this skirt. Color-wise it is definitely more fall, but can be easily worn right now. I paired it with this eyelet top (not on sale!) and it just came alive. This skirt would also work with just a white tee, that would be darling and easy to style! For later, like much later, this beige sweater would pair so nicely. You can also toss on a chambray, because don’t act like you don’t own at least two. A nice white button down would feel classic as well.
I did want to mention these shoes. They are also on sale (public access on Friday!) and I’m 100% surprised by them. I snatched them up when I was quickly shopping with Gemma and I thought they had potential. Well they absolutely do — they are winners for summer into fall. They fit perfectly, they are comfortable and the heel height is just right. If you had to buy one heel, I’d suggest this one here! I’m still trying to figure out my favorite flats from this sale. I’ll update you Friday!
I am shooting ‘what I bought (and kept!) post’ for the Nordstrom Sale tomorrow morning to post on Friday when public access to the sale is available. I’m almost finished with my baby + kids roundup (it’s huge by the way!) and I’ll do a quick round up on home stuff as well because that was requested! But past that, I’ll style the pieces I’ve bought from the sale but I’m kind of wanting to move onto other outfits and content. I love this sale; I’m happy with the few things I got and hope you scored some great deals as well but I’m ready to create something else!
*This post is brought to you in collaboration with Jockey! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Did you know that one of the MOST requested items I’m asking all of the time is…drum roll please… what I wear UNDER what I’m actually wearing! Which makes me applaud you all because this just means you’ve realized that your bra, underwear, and shape wear are all key to a strong foundation for your best outfits. I didn’t realize this until I was well into my late 20s. I had ONE bra that I wore until it literally fell apart. You read that right — I had one bra at a time. Bless that poor things, heart. It never stood a chance. (Did you know that they suggest having 7 bras to rotate throughout the week so that your bra’s live longer? I want to hear your thoughts on this industry suggestion!)
I was asked to try out the Jockey Forever Fit Bra and I was thrilled to try a new bra out! I’ve bought Jockey’s underwear before but never a bra! So I went into this blind and I ended up finding a new ‘everyday’ bra! I tried three different bras
but two were my clear winners, so let’s get to it!
Let me introduce you to the Jockey Forever Fit Bra: it’s a bra that combines the comfort of a bralette with the support of a great bra. If you have a larger chest like I do, you know the pangs of envy you get when you see our smaller chested friends wearing bralette’s that looks so comfortable and lightweight. I pretty much always need some type of wired support or my lady friends just don’t cooperate the way I’d like for them to (AKA support and lift is needed.) I pretty much have given up on the idea of a bralette or anything other than an underwire for my D-chest. When I read this description of the the new Jockey Forever Fit Bra “A bra that offers support and coverage without sacrificing comfort” — SOLD. I decided to try out three different versions of this bra that took 18 months to perfect! (Yes, you read that right! And they did 25 rounded of consumer testing and wearing to ensure that this completely wire-free bra would fit a variety of body types! Made for women, by women. Which makes a lot of sense because we are detail oriented and this bra-making business seems intense.) I don’t usually stay too close to the brand’s wording but I just think it was amazing the care and thought they went into making the bra. Here are all of the well-thought out features in this new line of bras:
• Wire-free design that doesn’t poke or dig
• Infinity seamfree under band that prevents rolling
• Flexible cups that adapt to your body shape
• Breathable lining and molded cups
• 4-hook back closure for smoothing, and support
• Smarter sizing than competitors (S-3XL)
• Soft, smooth fabric
Sounds pretty amazing right? Well let’s get to the review then! The first one I tried was the Forever Fit T-Shirt Molded Cup Bra. I will leave the names on each of the bras below because let’s be honest — they all look alike! But let me tell you the fits are very different, so I just want to keep this as clear as possible!
My #1 Pick: Forever Fit T-Shirt Molded Cup Bra
Let me just say — this was not easy taking photos in a bra and shorts. But I did feel very covered with these bras which is a nice feature! Okay so this one is my favorite fit of the three I tried. It’s soft, it has support like an underwire but it’s super comfortable. You know those bras that you wear all day and you can feel every hour in them? You literally can not wait to get home to take it off? Yeah, well that is NOT this bra. This bra I actually kind of forgot I was wearing a real bra during the day. That, my friends, is a good feeling. I bought the size large according to their size chart and felt like it was accurate. I would say this bra is true to the size chart and can work for all chest sizes! I just love that there is a wireless option for biggest chests. It’s nice to feel like I can have comfort and support. Truly squad goals. Find the Jockey Forever Fit T-Shirt Molded Bra Here!
So the second bra I LOVED is the Jockey Forever Fit V-Neck Molded Cup Bra. This is the bra shown below! We didn’t photograph this one because you don’t need that many photos of my in my underwear, ok? And because the fit is pretty much the exact same as the black one I’ve photographed here! The main difference in this bra is that it has a bit more coverage and the support was a bit more structured than the black t-shirt bra. This one is a great bra if you need a bit more coverage and support but without the wire discomfort. This bra goes up to 3X as well and looks really well stocked as of publication time! I personally love the ‘light’ or the ‘almond’ shade of this bra. I have the ‘light’ shade and it’s a great neutral, everyday bra. You can find this bra here.
My Pick for an Everyday Bra with Extra Coverage
The third bra I tried was not my very favorite, but if you’re looking for extra coverage and a REALLY soft cup this is the one for you! This one is called the Jockey Forever Fit V-Neck Unlined Bra. (I got white but I would absolutely recommend a color or black over the white! I think that the color would give it more edge, ya know?) So this bra just wasn’t my favorite, nothing wrong with it other than I loved and felt more comfortable in the other two. I would say if you like an unlined bra with more cup coverage, this is the one for you! Find this bra here.
So the other part of this post, I wanted to mention something that I get asked about constantly. “What do you wear under your dresses and skirt?” This questions seems to come up summer after summer. My answer? Smoothing shorts. Exhibit A, B, and C:
I ALWAYS wear these shorts (or similar to these) under my dresses and skirts. At Jockey they are called Skimmies Slipshort, which honestly is adorable. Here’s the thing — this is NOT shapewear. No ma’am — I am not sweating out here in sticky shapewear. It’s hard to describe but these are a lightweight stretchy weave — think a thinner camisole material. This material smooths but doesn’t ‘suck you in’ so you aren’t suffocated in the summer time but you can have more coverage under dresses and skirts. I have these in black and nude. They are wonderful layered over underwear or you can wear them on their own as well. (I wear them layered so I can get a few uses out of them. Is that gross? Let me know. I probably won’t stop doing it though but your opinion on my habits is always welcome.)
I would suggest sticking to the size chart — I have these in large and medium but the medium’s fit me best. (I am a size 8 / 29 in denim if that’s helpful!) They are very stretchy as well, again they smooth and cover so they don’t have to fit super tight for you to have benefit from there! They come in this longer length and a shorter short! I’ve not tried the shorter short but I just placed an order for them! I actually didn’t realize these came in this shorter version, so I’m jazzed to get them! (PS: in my experience, Jockey ships really fast, too!) Or find the longer shorts here!
I was right about this mystery skirt! It showed up today online in full stock. Let me remind you that this wasn’t available last week when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started, but it’s here now. Hmmmm…weird business going on but I’m just glad it’s online and on sale! I’ll cut to the chase — you can find it on sale here!
I styled this skirt as I would for this fall with a lightweight sweater. For right now, I’d pair it with a graphic tee or a simple camisole or tank! Keep it simple on top and this skirt is highly versatile! Here are a few other top ideas to pair with this skirt. (One note, the skirt has a skinny elastic waist band — but really skinny — so keep your top lightweight as well or it will bunch too much if you try to tuck it.)
Other Options to Wear with this Skirt
I had a lot of questions about this crossbody from Rebecca Minkoff at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! It’s darling. I did not see RM coming in so strong at the sale but her styles are my favorite from this sale. I bought the suede hobo and this crossbody. They are both in the same kind of dark cognac with a hint of dark red. To me this shade is classic and timeless, this color works well from summer into fall and winter. This crossbody also comes in a dark green, if you’re feeling another hue other than brown. I can fit my small wallet, my phone, my makeup and whatever small toy I need to carry for Gemma that day. It’s pretty roomy for the size! You can find it here.
I wasn’t going to make an Amazon Prime Day post…but my curiosity got the best of me this morning when I was browsing the site and there was actually some items that I thought were worth sharing! I get kind of frustrated with this sale because I don’t find it to be straight forward (you click on one thing and the sale has either passed or it’s sold out or it’s only Prime deal for one color, etc.) But I rounded up items that are available all day (except the Adidas Sweatshirt on the graphic below. That’s the one thing that expires at 2 pm today) so hopefully this will be a helpful post if you are trying to navigate this sale. I always find that I get way too lost on Amazon, so let me guide you!
I rounded up the items that I find are the most typical to wear and broke them down into three categories: activewear, everyday essentials, and work wear (albeit I put jeans in there because they may be allowed at your work!) I hope this breakdown helps you out to quickly find some good deals!
One more note: I believe all of these items are a brand name or under the Amazon umbrella, so most of them had high ratings and good reviews. I find that I’m TTS in all of the amazon brands but I like to size up on the t-shirts so that they are slouchier. Just my preference, but I thought it’s as worth nothing. Also, I am usually always a half size down in Adidas footwear.
Well it’s here for Icon and Ambassador card holders BUT tomorrow will be full access for Card Holders so I wanted to go ahead and share with you what to look out for! So I won’t lie — this is a BIG post and kind of overwhelming. But there are all of the items — yes all of them — that I loved! Obviously I was playing the fun game of ‘what if we had all the money?’ And I just went after it! Here are 48 of my picks from THE SALE. Let me walk you through them!
Let me just start off by saying that I personally think that shoes + denim are where it is at this year. Lots of great denim and shoe options and here is the thing — these aren’t trendy pieces that rely on a season or ‘moment’ in time for style. Sure they have a lot of bold shoes that are trendy, but the ones I found to me are timeless. I just wanted to note that this is why this sale is epic — you can get great staples that are worth the investment at a lower price than typical. If you’ve wanted to try a certain brand or designer and it’s on sale, now is the time to do it.
Okay ya’ll there is some GOOD denim this year. I went in with a list of what I wanted to try and I was not disappointed. (Well, there was one pair I’d steer you from but I’ll get to that!)
My NUMBER ONE pick are these Frame Denim Distressed Skinny Jeans. They are the most flattering pair of denim. They are thicker denim with a hint of stretch and girl, they look GOOD. Find them here. I am in my typical size, 29. Frame doesn’t usually sell out during the Anniversary Sale but…I could see these going pretty quickly. I think they are a pretty well kept secret but you never know! Find them here.
My second pick would be these Good American Jeans. Just a nice basic dark denim jean that is hella stretchy and just as flattering. I LOVED THEM. I’m kind of sad I walked away from them in the fitting room, so they are in a cart ready to be bought! I wore my typical size 8. I did not size down, I don’t find that recommendation true for my body shape. I think these will sell out fast!
AG denim came through as well this year! LOVED this lighter pair of jeans — they fit amazing (TTS) and then I always love this pair of denim that I’ve deemed the anniversary jean because they have some variation of it each year! Since I bought these the last few years, I wanted to branch out to other brands (frame) but I HIGHLY recommend AG denim during anniversary sale. These will last you for years. Also AG tends to sell out on the first day, so snatch them up!
I would 100% steer you clear of this pair from Madewell. This is not their typical fabric for denim, it was scratchy and they looked cute on but the quality was NOT there. Don’t do it. Instead, go with a Rag & Bone pair of black denim. I find that I run about a size bigger in Rag & Bone, so I would buy the 30.
YOU GUYS. I am shaking my head as I am writing this because it was a challenge to get this list down to just a few. SO MANY GOOD SHOES.
First off, this pair of Vince Mules will fly and if you don’t buy them, you’ll be sad and sorry. I am telling you. I am buying them in the nude but do whatever color you can because they will last and you will wear them with everything. I’m telling you right now, these will sell out.
I LOVED these Marc Fisher flats. They come in Nude and this Snakeskin. I bought them…in the snakeskin! What a swerve! But I loved them in the nude as well. You can find them here. Just a note: I went down a half size. I am a typical 10 but the 10 was too wide and the 9.5 fit perfect. If you have a regular to narrow foot, go a half size down. If you have a wider foot, stay TTS.
I also picked up this pair of pointed black flats! I’m trying to decide to keep or not…I’ll let you know! But they are a beautiful leather and fit about a half size down. (I’m in the 9.5) I just want to make sure they work with denim and my dresses before I keep them! You can find them here.
I passed on all the black booties this year. I tried this one on from Treasure and Bond and it’s great quality and a good fit but the way it hit me at my ankle just wasn’t the look I was going for. It wasn’t the most flattering, so if you find that booties that hit mid cankle don’t work on you, pass on these. Go for a black version of the Vince Camuto bootie.
SO many requests for coats! I really loved this puffer coat here — it’s lightweight so I wouldn’t suggest for Chicago in January BUT it’s a really nice weight for a mild winter (Texas) or a transition coat from heavy winter into not quite spring. I loved this option a lot!
I wanted to mention, if you were looking for a real leather jacket – this one is under $200 (just barely!) and amazing quality! I would suggest sizing up so you can layer. I tried on the medium and it was tight in my arms / shoulders. Find it here.
Cardigans and Sweaters
It’s always such a struggle to think about winter needs when it’s literally 100º outside. So I won’t lie, I just kind of skimmed the sweaters and cardigans but came up with some really great options!
I REALLY loved this cashmere cardigan and struggled putting it back. Like I may have shed a tear hanging it back up. This is so soft, it’s the perfect brown hue and it’s great quality. I was in the medium and it was a perfect boyfriend fit. True to size. Someone please buy this cardigan and rub it in my face at how perfect it is. Find it here!
Oh and I didn’t try this on because it wasn’t at my local Nordstrom (this is why Online is the best way to shop this sale!) but I love this striped topshop sweater. It has pink and camel therefore making it my dream scenario for winter. Find it here! (I would suggest sizing down)
This Tory Burch crossbody is a new body for anniversary sale! I was excited to see new stuff this year! This crossbody comes in a few different colors but I loved the ivory!
Longchamp was coming through this year! Here is the leather version of their totes (loved this pink!). I have a black one from years past and it still looks brand new. These are perfect for travel / commuting or a REALLY fancy gym bag. #treatyoself
I loved this pink pair of leggings BUT I will tell you they are not squat proof. I had dark undies on and you could see them — whomp, whomp. But if you go with nude undies and you just wear yoga pants as a look (raises hand), you’ll be just fine. Super cute fit but just be wary of the underwear situation. Find them here.
I also loved these from ALO — they are their famous high waist leggings! They are a shiny black and super cute. I would suggest sizing up if you have a rounder tummy / waist. Otherwise stay TTS. (I tried on the mediums and they fit but I think for comfort a large would have been better.)
I wasn’t able to try this dress on from Rebecca Taylor but you KNOW I snatched it up today online! I went with my normal size and hoping I’m right!
My NUMBER ONE pick from my try on was this dress from Gal Meets Glam! IT’S GOREOUS and season less! This can truly go from now through early winter and back to spring. I am in the 8. I would suggest sizing down if you don’t have a big chest. Otherwise, true to size and very nursing friendly! Find it here!
I love this body-con dress so much, it looks like it’s a ribbed sweater materila and hoping it doesn’t sell out too quickly because I’m dying to get my hands on it! Find it here! Personally, I’ll size up because I like to leave room for the imagination, know what I’m saying? (Oh and I tried this leopard print dress on…MEH. I’d pass.)
I’m pretty sure this floral number is meant to be a tunic, but I’m going to be wearing it as a dress. I brought the medium! Size down for a top option, though.
I’ll be shooting ‘what I bought’ for Monday! I’m a little behind because…well life with a toddler just slows you down a little. Thank you for being so patient with me! Let me know if you have any questions about the sale or anything at all! PS: My try-on will be on IG tomorrow!
Popping on quickly today to say HI! And just in case you don’t follow me on IG, I wanted to share this top! I got so many messages asking about this top and I didn’t want ya’ll to be in the dark about it, too! As of right now, it’s still in full stock (sizes 0-14) which never happens at ASOS. You can find this top here! I am in the US8, it fits true to size but is generous. I’d size down if you’re petite or in between sizes! (It could work for a pregnant bump, too! With a camisole underneath for extra coverage, I’d say you could wear this until about 6-7 months.)
This is a pair of denim I picked up from the Nordstrom Anniversary pre-sale yesterday! YA’LL. They are GOOD. I’ll link them the minute they come available, I promise! I’m in the 29 and they fit perfectly. If you’ve never tried Frame denim before, you absolutely should during this sale! I’ll link them ASAP tomorrow at 12:30 ET when everything is available on line! (Tomorrow is for Icon and Ambassador card holders and Friday is available for all card holders!)
I’ll be posting what I bought on Friday and I’ll post everything I tried on in IG stories & the LTK app tomorrow!
