I had the privilege of talking to 260 Y7 students at Cardinal Hume Catholic School a few weeks ago. This gave them an introduction to what coaching is about whilst also looking at how your thoughts can let you down
The main theme was you control your thoughts, thoughts control your behaviour and your behaviour controls your results
This isn’t a post to go on about being kind to others because frankly everyone I know and work with are flipping adorable and wonderfully kind and generous to others. However………..
A big percentage of those are unkind to themselves. The view they have of themselves, the lack of confidence they have, the quality time they allow themselves is low or non existent. So start this week thinking how you can be kinder to yourself, treat yourself, make sure your self talk is pushing you rather than holding you back.

I had the great pleasure of working with a young athlete who wanted some performance coaching so that they could get mentally ready not only at competition level but also in training too
They have overcame some great hurdles mentally to get where they wanted to be and not only did they qualify to compete internationally representing their country but they also came 6th. This is an amazing achievement of dedication, hard work and application. Bursting that I got to be a part of the journey
Who is putting pressure on you to man up? is it society, family or yourself?
Opening up is not weakness it requires a lot of strength to face our anxieties and admit we don’t feel good enough, we don’t feel like we can cope, we feel shit but have no idea why.
The opposite of manning up is opening up and dealing with how you’re feeling so you can free yourself from your anxieties and working on a strategy to help you live the life you want without these fears holding you back. Booking the session in is the first step to gaining back control of your stressful thoughts.
Don’t think that if you’ve tried a form of therapy before and it hasn’t worked that you should give up. I have a very different approach and I work with clients to tackle the issues but more importantly move forward with a constructive plan

To be conscious of your negative self talk is the first step to changing your current path. If you believed you could rather than you can’t you’d take more chances on yourself and achieve soo much more
