This week’s video is easily my most favorite episode to date. It is SO special to me!!! If you have been following me for any period of time, then you probably already know this…but my mom is my absolute best friend and favorite human. She is who inspired me to begin a business, who cheered me on through every single hard moment and who continues to encourage and support me in every way that she can. When I was sifting through the most popular requests for personal episodes, my mom kept coming up…and I knew I had to have her on for an episode!! She wrote THIS blog post last year about parenting and supporting an entrepreneur and you guys LOVED it. So she’s back for more!!!

I posted on my Instagram stories asking what you wanted to know from my sweet momma and we sat down together for a Q&A! We were randomly asked questions (neither of us read through them beforehand!) and had SO MUCH FUN filming this!!! I hope you love it as much as we do!

Since when did I become a college graduate photographer?! I’m kind of loving it!!! I always photographed college seniors in addition to high schoolers…I just never advertised it!! Somehow, this year, I ended up getting more COLLEGE inquiries than high school…and it’s been SO fun!! This was my second senior this season on the George Mason campus and it’s so fun to photograph! Briana absolutely NAILED IT with her makeup and outfits…I could’ve photographed her all day! We had the prettiest weather and gorgeous glowy light. I just loved every second of it!

Enjoy some of my favorites from this senior session!!! And be sure to scroll to the bottom to see the GLOW!!! The light was incredible!!!

That makeup and those nails!!! Love!

One of my faves on the right!!!

GAHHH the light! Part of why I love summer sessions so much!!!

Fave!!!

I think this set is my favorite from the entire shoot!!!

Before Candice and Michael’s wedding, I got the sweetest email from Candice’s mom. She was telling me about how excited Candice was to have me as a part of her wedding experience…and the email brought me to tears! This was days BEFORE the wedding! I knew it was going to be an incredible day. I truly cried more at this wedding than I ever have in the dozens of weddings I photographed! The entire day was so special. Candice and Michael have such a sweet, special type of love. They truly believe that they were created to love each other…and it shows. From the way they look at each other to the way they support each other and celebrate the things that the other one loves…it’s just a beautiful thing to witness. I feel so lucky that I was able to capture it all!

From a teary-eyed first look to handwritten vows and beautiful speeches…I cried at every piece of this wedding. And I loved it!!! Haha!! There are so many sweet moments in this blog post that I just can’t wait for you to see. The military elements to honor Michael’s service, the thoughtful ways they loved on their guests, the DISNEY playlist at the reception (!!!) and the thoughtful ceremony made this day such a special one to be a part of.

Michael and Candice: I hope you are enjoying every second of your honeymoon and that you love these favorites of mine as much as I do!!!!

I just LOVE Candice’s unique floral ring!!!

Love this bouquet shot!!!

*Cue Hope crying behind the camera*

LOVE!

Two more faves!!!

Definitely climbed on top of my car for this one…worth it!!!

Guys…it’s my BIRTHDAY MONTH!!! I’m really not quite sure how it’s already JUNE, but I’m okay with it!!! To celebrate that I turn 23 (!!!) at the end of this month, I thought we would do something a little different for June Happy Hour episodes. You guys have HIGHLY requested a lot of topics that have NOTHING to do with photography…so I’m going to do a month of PERSONAL episodes!!! Don’t worry, if you are looking for education you can still find all of the past episodes HERE or a free online training HERE. But, for those of you have requested personal topics…this month is for you!!

To kick off this month I’m sharing the MOST REQUESTED video I’ve been asked to film for MONTHS now. My MAKEUP TUTORIAL. HAHA! I honestly think it’s so funny that this is one of the most highly requested videos…because I am NOT a makeup artist. But, over the last year or so, I’ve grown to LOVE doing my makeup and thought it would be fun to share my current tutorial with you all! This is exactly how I do my makeup every day (including shoots and wedding days!) and I hope you enjoy getting ready with me!!!

THESE TWO!!! Amanda and Mark traveled to Fredericksburg from Northern VA for their shoot and I was SO excited for it!! When we all chatted over Skype for their initial consultation, we totally hit it off and talked for almost an hour! I knew their engagement session was going to be a blast from that moment on. Amanda had her makeup done by the incredible GoGo Gorgeous (one of my favorite local makeup teams!) and explored Fredericksburg leading up to the shoot. There was a HUGE storm that rolled in right before we started shooting…but you would never know!! The GLOW was incredible and we shot at one of my FAVORITE local spots that I hadn’t visited in YEARS!! It was so special!!

These two truly just radiate joy and I absolutely love it. They were up for ANYTHING for their shoot and were total naturals in front of the camera! They made my job SO easy and I laughed the entire time!! Plus, their OUTFITS!!! They completely nailed it. I have so many favorites!

Amanda and Mark, I’m counting down the days until your wedding later this year! I absolutely loved our time together and I hope you enjoy some of my favorites!!

Look at this!!! Naturals from the very start!!!

LOVE these!!!

Amanda – you are GLOWING!!!

She looks just like the red dress dancing emoji in this!!!

LOVE this entire set!! My fave kind of light!!!

This staircase on the right was a dream!!!

Loved this location and this shot!

The raindrops add so much to this shot!!

Another fave!!!

SO. MANY. FAVES!

The last week of May is here!!! The ending of a month means the ending of a Happy Hour with Hope topic and it’s always bittersweet. But, this is definitely the May video that I have been MOST excited to share! Last year, I started to have focusing issues with my Canon 50mm 1.2 lens. So, I decided to purchase the Sigma equivalent to see if it corrected some of the issues that I was having. While I still absolutely LOVE both lenses, one definitely beat out the other and has become a staple in my bag. So, in today’s video, I am comparing and breaking down the two 50mm lenses to share which one wins out as the MOST USED lens in my bag!!!

Here are some recent images taken with my Sigma 50mm lens:

It’s been a busy week on the blog this week! This is the FOURTH and final post of the week and I think it’s a great finale!!! Tess and Tyler wanted to do something unique for their engagement session, so we went back and forth over email brainstorming some ideas. Then Tess stumbled upon one of my past engagement sessions involving a floral canoe…and she LOVED the idea!! So, we got in contact with Diane at Whimsy and she worked with us to create the DREAMIEST floral-covered canoe!!!

When Tess and Tyler arrived at Lake Anna, Tess jumped out of the truck and was just a bubble of excitement. I LOVED IT! We were completely on the same page with our bubbly personalities and our excitement for this session! They were NATURALS from the moment we got started and Tyler flirted with Tess in the most adorable way the entire time. I couldn’t stop smiling! It couldn’t have been more fun. Plus, Diane was a total ROCKSTAR in helping us hold the canoe in the water and keep it steady. So, shoutout to her for being the mastermind behind the florals and even making this pictures possible:

HAHAH! Tess and I decided that photo is going to be her save the date!

Tess and Tyler: I can’t wait for you to scroll through some of my favorites and I am PUMPED for your wedding day next year! XOXOXO!

Tess hiked up a hill in HEELS to get to this spot with the field and glowy light. I’d say it was worth it!!

Favorite!!!

Another fave!!!

Just so stinking sweet!!!

GAHHH! This canoe!! Amazing!

LOVE this one!

I can’t believe it’s MAY!!! Brittany and Alexander’s gorgeous wedding day was one I looked forward to for a long time. It wasn’t my first wedding of the year because I photographed one on a CRUISE back in February…but this felt like my first “normal” wedding and it was the first wedding of my busy season! And, let me just tell you, it kicked my spring off in the most INCREDIBLE way!!! Saturday was the most perfect, warm spring day with barely a cloud in the sky. We arrived in the bridal suite to a BAG full of fun details to photograph, which always kicks my creativity off on the perfect foot! Plus, I was working with some of my favorite friends: Chelsey as my second shooter, and Josh and Erika as the film team! And, to top it all off, Brittany and Alexander are the sweetest couple there ever was – so it was truly the BEST. DAY. EVER.

Stone Tower Winery has been on my list of venues I wanted to photograph for the longest time. It has fantastic light, breathtaking views and an awesome team. It was a dream come true! Brittany and Alexander both put so much thought into every moment and every detail of their wedding. Brittany had the most thoughtful gifts for her bridesmaids, parents and for Alexander. She planned her garden-inspired reception to a T (with the cutest travel-themed details throughout!) and was such a generous, loving friend to everyone around her throughout the day. They are both joyful, gracious and shine such a bright light everywhere they go. I truly felt so privileged to be a part of their wedding day!

Brittany and Alexander: Thank you so, so much – from the bottom of my heart – for inviting me into such a special season. I can’t wait to hear about your AMAZING honeymoon, and I hope you enjoy these favorite images as much as I do!!!

Those SHOES!!! A dream!

LOVED these fun travel tags!

LOVE this fun shot!!! And we didn’t even break the bed!!!

Such an amazing gift from Brittany! Love it!!

The bridesmaids seeing Brittany for the first time in her dress!!!

Alexander’s gift to Brittany!! They both just kept saying “I can’t believe he/she did this!!!”

First look with dad! So sweet!!!

First look with Alexander!! I love it!!!

LOVE this set of portraits!!

Her eyes just kill me!!

I had been looking forward to this senior session for SO LONG! Maddie reached out to me about wanting to travel into town to capture her senior portraits here in Fredericksburg. She lived over two hours away in a small town AND she was a photographer herself. Talk about feeling HONORED to be chosen to capture these memories for her!!! As we lead up to the day of her session, we chatted about outfits and locations and how much fun we were going to have at her shoot. And it couldn’t have been a better day!!!

Maddie’s sweet dad came with her to her session and helped carry bags, hold outfit options, cheer her on and take behind-the-scenes pictures. It was seriously just SO much fun! We explored some of my favorite Fredericksburg locations and talked all about how Maddie got started in photography and what her plans were for her future. She is such a bright light and her story reminds me so much of my own!! I’m so proud of her and it was truly such a privilege to be her senior photographer!!

Maddie, I enjoyed our time together so much and I hope you love some of my favorite images here as much as I do!!!

Love these two!!!

This giggly smile was my FAVORITE on her!!!

Not many flowers are still left in bloom in this VA heat…but we hit the jackpot with these!!

The sun broke through a SUPER grey, cloudy day just for Maddie to have some “golden” light!!!

Love that she rocked this outfit with her cowgirl boots to show her small town roots!!!

This last set at golden hour is for SURE my favorite from the entire shoot!!!

LOVE!!!!

Another fave!!!

Her sweet dad!!!
