Hope2Sleep is a Registered Charity run by Sleep Apnoea Sufferers, CPAP & Ventilation Users and Sleep Professionals - all of whom are passionate and committed in volunteering to support people to get the safe comfortable sleep they deserve.
The "Snorechestra" music track is now available to download and we do thank Simon Webbe, singer and songwriter, Aubrey Whitfield, producer and Play Ojo - not forgetting the great team at Ready10 Media. This is a marvellous opportunity to raise awareness of sleep apnoea amongst snorers, as well as raise funds for our Hope2Sleep Charity from sales of the "Snorechestra" track.
The Lane Fox Respiratory + Sleep Disorder Unit of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust are looking for adult patients for a new trial who are diagnosed with moderate to severe obstructive obstructive sleep apnoea and have been effectively treated with CPAP for at least 6 months. Patients interested in the trial must already use their CPAP on a regular basis for almost the whole night. The trial takes only two weeks and will involve coming off CPAP, but the major benefits for participants are that they will have a complete reassessment of the current severity of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnoea) and their CPAP treatment as well as have additional assessments such as lung function testing, and of course support scientific knowledge to optimise therapy of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea in the future. If you are interested in participating please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or Joerg.Steier@gstt.nhs.uk to discuss eligibility. We're looking forward to our annual trip to the Scottish Association for Sleep Apnoea (SASA) in East Kilbride. The event is always a great success and we look forward to contributing to the day, and of course meeting old friends and new.
Looking forward to our next event at the #BiltonFest, raising awareness of sleep apnoea and supporting existing sufferers. There's such a great itinerary too, including live bands to chill out and listen to when our work is done.
I have written before warning people not to use products like Vaseline or Vicks inside the nostrils, but still we as a charity are hearing this is being recommended by some doctors and nurses. Whilst it is rare, this can lead to lipoid pneumonia and is not worth the risk! Apart from the health risks, products containing petroleum jelly and other substances can also damage the soft parts of the masks, causing leaks and costly replacements.
We will be attending the Hull Show this year on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August. This is a fun event for all the family (and the dogs as there is a dog show), and we'll be there to raise awareness of Sleep Apnoea to all those weary people unaware they are undiagnosed with this. We will also be offering face-to-fact support to people already diagnosed and will have a selection of our products for sale at the event. Come and join us and have a go on our tombola too. Hull Show is held at the beautiful East Park in Hull, and free entry is via the main gates on Holderness Road, HU8 8JU Gates open at 11am on both days.
Somnex have kindly given us a 20% discount code to share for the first ever Sleep Show dedicated to sleep health. We'll be attending, along with our specialist sleep nurse and do look forward to meeting you.
