Advertorial content for 20Cogs Long before I started blogging, I was making money online by completing surveys online – I’ve always been fairly opinionated so being able to make money from this whilst watching TV felt like a bit of a no-brainer. I wasn’t making a fortune, just the odd Amazon voucher here or there which contributed towards Christmas or treats that we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford when I was on maternity leave. I was always interested in other ways of making extra money from the comfort of my own living room – who wouldn’t be? What is 20Cogs? I’ve recently been introduced to 20Cogs – now 20Cogs isn’t your average survey site. 20Cogs is an easy way to make money by completing tasks or “offers” including free trials or surveys. Once you’ve completed the task or “offer” you earn a cash reward which can be cashed…

Earlier this year I wrote about our new waterproof, bluetooth speaker – the Anker Soundcore Flare, today I want to introduce you to it’s baby brother, the Anker Soundcore Icon Mini Introducing the Soundcore Icon Mini The Soundcore Icon Mini is a pocket-sized speaker that allows you to take your music with you wherever you go. The Icon Mini is lightweight and fits in the palm of your hand so can easily be carried in your pocket or in your bag for whenever the need arises. Pair the Icon Mini with your phone using Bluetooth It is super easy to connect the Soundcore Icon Mini to your phone, just turn the speaker on (it will play a sound to let you know it’s awake!) and open the bluetooth settings on your phone – tap “Soundcore Icon Mini” and it should pair instantly and you can get the party started! (And,…

This May half term we took a 2000 mile road trip to the South of France to stay with Eurocamp. We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom Avant mobile home at Les Sablons near Beziers in the Languedoc-Roussillon Region. First impressions of the Eurocamp Avant Our first impressions of the Eurocamp Avant were great – it felt bright, spacious and modern – and after the long drive, the air conditioning was a joy! We were confident that our holiday home would offer us everything we needed to be able to enjoy our holiday in the South of France. Parking was a bit of a squeeze! At Les Sablons, the Eurocamp mobile homes are set out in a little “streets” – so each of the mobile homes is facing another, with a small space between the one next door to park your car. We have quite a big car and…

Kirsty and I stumbled across Ezra & Gil on Hilton Street in the Northern Quarter, Manchester when we didn’t get into Alabamas one morning and it was a great little find – one I’ve since returned to time and time again. (In fact I would go so far as to say it is now my favourite place for brunch – and yet I’ve not managed to go with Dave yet!) What time does Ezra & Gil open? Ezra & Gil opens early doors – 7.30am during the week and 8am on a weekend perfect to get yourself set up before you start work or for a lazy weekend brunch. (It’s only ten minute walk up to Piccadilly Station so if you’re looking for a bite to eat before you head home after a weekend in the city it’s a win!) Can you book a table at Ezra & Gil? You…

At the start of the year, Grandad set Ben a challenge When Ben got his road bike for Christmas, Grandad set him the challenge of being able to cycle 20 miles by the end of the year.  Ben nailed that just over 4 months later by doing 21 miles round the Preston Guild Wheel in aid of Meningitis Now with his Dad in May. We set him a new challenge! So we upped the ante.  We set him the challenge of riding the “short” route of the Ride Yorkshire Sportive on 11th August.  I say “short” – this is a 40 mile bike ride which Ben will be completing less than two weeks after his 10th birthday. Ben has just two months to double the distance of his current longest ride which means getting up early doors every Saturday or Sunday morning and heading out with his Dad before there’s…

This May half term we drove to the South of France in search of sunshine! We spent last May half term in France but the weather in Normandy was fairly British and I’m the sort of person who wants to feel the sun on my face when I’m on my holidays. After loving our week with Eurocamp at Chateau de Lez Eaux, we decided that we’d do another week with Eurocamp this spring, but this time we’d travel further South where the sunshine was more reliable! The region of Langeudoc-Rousillion sees on average 300 days of sunshine a year and seemed like a sensible place to go! Rather than flying to Béziers, we chose to drive and make our journey part of the adventure. The drive to Béziers is pretty much 1000 miles door to door from our home in Manchester and plenty of people thought we were crazy driving…

Over the last couple of years, I’ve been thrilled to be able to chat to some amazing community groups who have benefited from additional funding thanks to the Aviva Community Fund. Last year I visited Twinkleboost, who deliver speech & language training to parents in deprived communities and the year before I spoke to some of the girls at Farsley Celtic Girls FC about how they benefited from being part of the team. Last month, I visited A4 Studios in Altrincham who secured funding the 2018 Aviva Community Fund. The Aviva Community Funds invites applicants to apply under one of three categories – Environment, Health & Well-being or Skills for Life to secure up to £25,000 in funding. You can then have your say, voting for groups close to your heart who would really benefit from the funding! The Aviva Community Fund also offers ‘more than money’ support through a…

I knew it had been a long time since I’d managed to do a Me & Mine post – but actually searching back through my site, the last time I published a post featuring pictures of us as a family of five was back in December 2017 . . . How did that happen? I’m sure there must be more pictures of us all together and that they’ve just not made it into a dedicated post? I hope so anyway! I’m slightly late on this being as how it’s now the 4th of June, however we were on holiday in France last week which means that a) I didn’t have time to write a post but b) I do actually have some pictures to share of us all together – mostly be virtue of my recent selfie stick purchase, something I swore I would never buy but which actually has…

Despite the fact I have a repeating reminder on my calendar, I somehow missed last month’s Siblings post and this one is a day late too! This month’s photos were taken when we visited Coral Island in Blackpool on bank holiday Monday, and you might have seen some of them already in my Reimatec review. We’d had a busy weekend with me being at Blog On and the kids out doing other things with Dave, so it was really nice to be able to take a day out together. As I write this, we are counting down to our Eurocamp holiday next week and we are so ready for the quality family time that will bring – I’m even looking forward to the long drive at the moment as sitting and doing nothing for a few hours is quite appealing! Check out what they looked like this time last year:…

I’ve been using the Modius headset for about a month and a half now so it’s time for an update! I haven’t suddenly dropped a stone, but I am noticing some benefits from the headset (as well as some niggles) and I want to share those with you today. What is the Modius headset? In case you’re not sure what I’m talking about, the Modius is a really exciting piece of technology which aims to “reset” your brain’s predetermined weight range by sending a signal to the area of the brain associated with appetite, cravings and feeling full (this nerve is called the hypothalamus) and therefore making it easier to stick to a weight loss plan. How does the Modius headset fit into daily life? The idea is that you wear the headset for up to an hour, five or more times a week. The team at Modius recommend you…
