We have all been guilty of it at one time or another; letting powder and cream cosmetics build up for several weeks. I have even been guilty of using more than one color without cleaning in between. Well grab your brushes and make your way into the kitchen to clean out the gunk.
STEP 1 – Rinse the bristles of your brushes. Avoid getting the water into the handle of the brush as it can loosen the glue over time.
From here you have a few options to choose from to clean your brushes.
A) Place one part soap and one part olive oil on to a sponge. Rub your brush against the surface of the sponge. Rinse with lukewarm water. Then take a towel and rub your brush against the towel to remove any leftover debris. Once done, lay your brushes flat to dry. The dish soap will clean and disinfect the brushes, while the olive oil will help condition the brushes.
B) Choose a sturdy bar of soap and massage the dirty brush bristles deep into the bar of soap. Rinse the brushes with lukewarm water and lay flat to dry.
C) Another choice is to place some baby shampoo in the palm of your hand. Rinse your dirty brush, then massage the tips of the bristles in the palm of your hand. Then rinse the bristles and squeeze out the extra moisture with a clean towel. Lay the brush flat to dry.
Always remember to lay your brushes flat to dry. Allowing your brushes to dry vertically will allow water to leak into the ferrule (the piece which joins the bristles to the wand) which will loosen the glue and lead to bristle loss.
So those are a few inexpensive ways to clean your makeup brushes. You should clean any eye brushes, foundation brushes and concealer brushes at least once a week. The rest of your brushes can be cleaned once a week. Cleaning your makeup brushes will help prevent bacteria buildup, which can ultimately lead to breakouts.

The dry winter air is at a high, and my skin is showing it. So I went on a search for a light yet moisturizing product to take care of this tight and dry feeling. Peach Slices claims that their Citrus Honey Aqua Glow is infused with annatto seed and brightening grapefruit, orange and lemon peel oils, this fast-absorbing, moisturizer-meets-serum is as light as water and quickly hydrates and soothes all skin types. Honey extract and hydrating ingredients such as glycerin and ceramides nourish and plump, giving skin a lit-from-within glow. Peach Slices says it is a hydrating product which is perfect for those with combo to oily skin. But to be honest, anyone can use it.
This lightweight, soothing serum + moisturizer is nourishing to the skin and has a pleasant scent. One of the reasons I like the Peach Slices’ Citrus Honey Aqua Glow is that if you wish, you can layer it with another moisturizer that is heavier for additional hydration. The Citrus Honey Aqua Glow absorbs quickly and improved the overall texture to my skin. That tight, dry feeling went away and it gave my skin a wonderful, healthy, dewy appearance. I use this before putting on my makeup and before I go to bed. It does not have a heavy, greasy or sticky feeling like you would think a serum + moisturizer would. And I love the fact that I do not have to put on two products to get the same results as I do with the Peach Slices’ Citrus Honey Aqua Glow.
I read some of the reviews for this product, written by people with oily skin. A vast majority stated commented on the lightweight feel of this product, and how it did not leave their face feeling greasy. The serum + moisturizer nourished their skin and gave their skin a nice glow. And nearly all said they would purchase the Peach Slices’ Citrus Honey Aqua Glow again, just like I would purchase it again.
The Peach Slices’ Citrus, Honey, Aqua Glow retails for $11.99 (no, this is NOT a typo) for 3.04oz. You may purchase the serum + moisturizer at www.peachandlily.com and www.cvs.com.
It’s wintertime and along with it comes dry and dehydrated skin. And so the search for the right moisturizing product begins. A lot of people suffer from oily skin. And a lot of times these same people think they cannot use an moisturizer or an emulsion. But the best news is that these very same people can. That is where emulsion comes in.
The Etude House Moistfull Collagen Emulsion is a member of the Korean beauty line. It is luxurious and uber fantastic for those with oily and dry skin. The product goes on so nicely, absorbs quickly, and has a refreshing scent. And the emulsion did not leave my skin feeling sticky. This lightweight emulsion kept my skin moist all day and helped plump my fine lines beneath my eyes. But at this point you may be wondering what is the difference between a moisturizer and an emulsion. An emulsion is a light moisturizer. Most people with combination skin or oily skin should choose emulsion because of the lighter texture, and it will still provide the moisture needed. Lotion is thicker and provides more oil for those with dry skin or for usage during winter.
Now, when it comes to the ingredients in the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Emulsion, you cannot beat it. The product’s water moisture and healthness really brings change to your skin. The Super Collagen water and Baobab water in the emulsion endlessly provide moisture and will leave your skin feeling bouncy like jelly. And in case you were wondering what Baobab does for the skin, it is packed with antioxidants and vitamin C which supports collagen formation – helping to give you radiant, glowing skin as well as preventing wrinkles.
This product is very light and gives my skin a dewy appearance. I love how hydrating it is and its love its consistency. I would repurchase this product again.
The Etude House Moistfull Collagen Emulsion retails for $15.00. It may be purchased at www.sokoglam.com, Amazon and the online site for Wal-Mart.
As we all have been taught, eyebrows give you the total look. Pencils, powders and pomades are here to make touching up our brows that much easier. Usually, we learn to complete our make-up look with a pencil and we move on from there. Today, I am going to speak about a brow pomade manufactured by Revolution in the color medium brown.
So all products have their claims. Revolution Brow Pomade claims that its product is smudgeproof, waterproof, perfect for defining your brows and perfect for coloring your brows. The Revolution Brow Pomade claims to a have a buildable cream formula which provides long lasting coverage in order to fill, outline and texturize your brows. Besides being in the shade medium brown, it comes in five other shades to compliment many other skin tones.
So here is my opinion on what Revolution Brow Pomade claims. The brow pomade does indeed blend well, it is easy to apply and easy to remove. The colors are good, and so is the pigmentation. The brow pomade lasts and gives a smooth look.
But, the Revolution Brow Pomade does not live up to all of its promises. I found that the brow pomade is subject to smudging and can be clumpy. The product comes with a brush, but I highly recommend a bigger brush for the application of the brow pomade. The brush given to you in the box is way too small for proper application.
Personally, the good outweighs the bad. The Revolution Brow Pomade does have its set backs, but there are more pros than cons; and this product should be given a shot.
The Revolution Brow Pomade retails for $9.00. It may be purchased at ULTA, Amazon and some local drugstores.
We all know there are currently hundreds and hundreds of online beauty websites. These sites provide beauty information and/or sell products. For this post, I wanted to take a look at some of the websites I go to first when I have the urge to go shopping for new beauty products to add to my collection (which is fairly often). So without further delay here are the beauty websites I am loving now:
Soko Glam (www.sokoglam.com) – This website is geared towards Korean skincare products. I have been very much interested in Korean skincare beauty for quite some time. Personally, I have found my skin reacts better to Korean skincare products than their American competitors. At this website you will find some of the more popular Korean skincare brands such as Skinfood, Missha and Mizon. Soko Glam offers free shipping on all U.S. orders over $35.00. And if you are unsure off your skin type, the website has a mini quiz you can take to determine your skin type. This a great website to look at if you are in the market for new skincare products.
IKatehouse (www.ikatehouse.com) – So you need some new makeup, but you are on a budget. IKatehouse is your answer. This marvelous website offers cosmetics and makeup brushes which meets almost anyone’s budget. It even offers a category wherein you can buy makeup starting at $1.00, and it goes up to $3.00. Brands include Cherry Blossom, Covergirl and Jordana. It even has its own false lash category. I like IKatehouse because of its low prices and reputable products. Their products are fantastic for someone just starting out with makeup application and for those looking to save a few dollars.
Shop Miss A (www.shopmissa.com) Many, many people in the United States and some in other countries have stores in which each product is approximately $1.00. And now the Internet has such a store. At Shop Miss A, everything is $1.00; I mean everything! Makeup brushes, eyelashes, cosmetics and accessories are all $1.00, and the site ships worldwide. I have been shopping at this website for a while now, and I have not been disappointed. And the website gets even better! The products on this site are cruelty-free, so there is now need to feel guilty when shopping at Shop Miss A. This is also an excellent weebsite to shop for Christmas stocking stuffers.
So these website have been my go to sites when I get that itch to go shopping for beauty products or cute accessories. I hope all of you get a chance to look at these websites and enjoy them as much as I do.
Want full, dramatic lashes? Then crank up the volume of your lashes with Nicka K Power Lash Volumizing Mascara. This creamy, extremely pigmented mascara adds instant drama and fullness to your lashes. This mascara becomes the finishing touch to your smokey eye.
I became interested in this mascara when I was shopping for a different brand of mascara. The description of this mascara captured my attention, so I thought I would give it a try, and I am glad that I did. The Nicka K Power will magnify and multiply your lashes into new dimensions! Its innovating formula added to the ultra black pigments and fibers create glamorous, full lashes which last all day and well into the night. The Nicka K mascara will make your eyes pop!
This little miracle of a mascara takes any set of lashes to new heights. Its elongating design will coat your lashes from root to tip in a lightweight formula which is guaranteed to bring your eyelashes to ultra heights for that picture-perfect look we all desire.
The round tip wand grabs and boosts lashes at the root for an amazing lift. It coated my lashes in a jet black, long-wearing formula that lengthened and defined. The domed tip wand helped to grab those hard to reach inner corner and bottom lashes, which provided eye-catching drama as far as the eye can see.
This is definitely one of the better mascaras I have tried in a while. The Nicka K mascara will give your eyes drama and not that weighted down, gunky feeling like some other mascaras will. Unfortunately, this mascara is not easy to find in stores, but can be found online. So. definitely check out the below listed liinks and try the Nicka K Power Lash Volumizing Mascara today.
5,4,3,2,1……BAM! You know have those luxurious lashes you have always wished for with a little help from Milani’s Length In Seconds Lash Extension Fibers. You won’t need to spend your hard earned money on false eyelashes. With the Milani Length In Seconds Lash Extension Fibers, you can achieve the falsie look in three easy steps:
Apply your favorite mascara;
Next apply the Milani Length In Seconds Lash Extensions Fibers;
Finally, top off with a second coat of your mascara.
These extending fibers can virtually make anyone’s lashes appear a mile long. The way that the fibers are packed together, and the way it is applied using the wand, really helps to keep the fibers out of my eyes. Also, they are not very cottony, so when I apply the second coat over the fibers my lashes look completely natural and not a big clumpy mess such as other brands I have tried. I am in absolute love with the idea of being able to use fibers with the mascara of my choice, and with the fact I don’t have to get false eyelash glue all over the place trying to put on fake lashes.
I have used other designer lash extending fibers, and while it worked, it just became too much money to spend. So I was super excited to see this on the shelf at CVS. I am saving at least $15.00 or $20.00, and achieving the same look. That’s an extra $15.00 or $20.00 that can go towards the purchase of another beauty product. So go and try the Milani Length In Seconds Lash Extension Fibers. Your lashes will thank you.
The Milani Length In Seconds Lash Extension Fibers retail for $7.99. They may be purchased at CVS, Target, WalMart and Ulta.
