Disney's The Lion King (2019) isn't quite the live-action adaptation of the animated classics we've come to know. Instead, it is a reimagined version that takes the lessons learned from The Jungle Book and uses new tools and technologies to tell a beloved story in an all-new way. Director Jon Favreau takes the helm of what is essentially an old story told from a different technological lens. Using photorealistic technologies, animals in the film come to life. So much so this new Lion King looks like a DisneyNature title.

We sat down with our fellow journalists at the global press conference for The Lion King, where Favreau talked about his three-year journey making the film, how he wanted to pay homage to the animated original, and more. Check out what he had to say below [...]

Casting for The Little Mermaid is already in full swing. Hailey Bailey will play the titular role, while others like Melissa McCarthy, Awkwafina, and Jacob Tremblay will play supporting roles.

But this really wouldn't be a Little Mermaid reimagining without its Prince Eric. According to a new report, Dunkirk star and One Direction bandmate Harry Styles is in talks to play the role of the young prince who Ariel dreams of being with. More on the report below [...]

One of the first tragedies of the Disney-Fox merger was the dissolution of Fox's smaller branch Fox 2000. That branch produced films like Hidden Figures and Life of Pi.

It was thought that everyone at Fox 2000 would be out of a job. But a new report says another studio will be saving it. Sony will be hiring Elizabeth Gabler, former head of the now defunct Fox 2000, and her team to do film and TV adaptations of smaller films based on inspirational stories. More on the report below [...]

The Emmy Awards honor the best creative teams and the performers in television. This year saw the end of an era for Game of Thrones, while other miniseries dramas like Chernobyl, The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, and When They See Us clearly exceeded our expectations.

Though the final season of Game of Thrones may have been very polarizing, it didn't seem to faze the television academy, as it awarded HBO's highest-rated drama with a record-setting 32 nominations. HBO's miniseries Chernobyl received 19 nominations, and their comedy Veep snagged two nominations. Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Fleabag also have nominations of their own, with the former having 20, and the latter having four - unfortunately Andrew Scott got snubbed. And Netflix's When They See Us is the streaming site's biggest winner. They have 16 nominations.

Check out the list of the major nominees for the 2019 Emmy Awards below [...]

It is almost funny to think that studios are releasing films based on toys and board games, but some properties are so popular that not adapting them into a film would be a huge missed opportunity. And things are about to get exciting for the Barbie film.

Yes, there will be a film based on the iconic doll, and it has Margot Robbie playing the central figure. Now the film has just snatched up two very credible writers. According to new reports Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach will be partnering up to write the script for the film. More on the report below [...]

Dungeons & Dragons: Monsters & Creatures
Dungeons & Dragons Young Adventurer's Guides
Hardcover | Kindle
D&D Accessory
Wizards Of The Coast
Release Date: July 16, 2019

I am of the opinion that Wizards Of The Coast is doing something amazing these days. Access to Dungeons & Dragons was so restricted when I was growing up due to the stigma it held at the time. But now that everyone has (finally) realized that playing is not going to damn their souls, Wizards has opened the floodgates of marketing and has begun creating some amazing books for younger potential gamers. You may even have seen my review of the The A*B*Cs Of D&D and The 1*2*3s Of D&D that I wrote earlier this year. The newest releases are focusing on the intermediate age bracket with the Young Adventurer's Guides, one of which is Monsters & Creatures. So let us discuss it, shall we? [...]
