Five years ago I started this company with the hopes that a handmade hair bow could represent a brave and adventurous childhood. Now, we've created this new hair clip line in hopes that it serves as a reminder that the spirit of childhood lives on in each of us. Each clip is inspired by my own childhood nostalgia and lovingly made in France.
We cannot wait to see how you style our newest product on you and your little ones! Our new clips launch on May 14th at 10am Mountain Time. Sign up for our newsletter to receive a reminder straight to your email! Thanks for your support of our little company.
Be Brave, Hillary.

To coincide with the release of our new "Mimi Capsule" designed by none other than Wunderkin's past resident designer Mimi Shim, we've asked her to put together five looks for your next mommy daughter date.
Shop the Mimi Capsule starting May 7th at 10am Mountain Time.
The talented Mimi Shim has been Wunderkin Co.'s resident designer for the past two years, bringing little girls around the world beautiful adventure-worthy hair bows. It is truly bittersweet that Mimi has decided to move on from Wunderkin Co. to focus more on spending time with her family, but we are so happy to have had the chance to work alongside her unmatched creativity while we did.
The "Mimi Capsule," launching May 7th at 10am Mountain Time features a collection of beautiful bows created and inspired by Mimi and her minimalist, fashion-forward style. To give this collection a bit more back story, we sat down for a little interview with Mimi to learn all about her background in the fashion industry and her exciting plans for the future. We'll miss you Mimi, but we'll be following along on your journey for years to come.
My name is Mimi and I have been working with Wunderkin for 2 years, in Denver, CO. I have a four year old son (Oliver) and a husband (Zach), whom I’ve been married to for 9 years this month.
2.) Tell us about design training (past jobs, education, etc.)
I have been practicing fashion design and pattern drafting/sewing since high school and supplemented my education with internships with local designers and theaters. I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and studied in the Fiber/Textile and Fashion departments. After that I moved to Los Angeles and got my first fashion design assistant job. I moved to New York City after almost a year because the same company relocated. Later in NYC I worked for two cashmere sweater companies and specialized in women’s sweater / knitwear design.
3.) Where do you draw inspiration from in your day to day?
Doing yoga regularly clears my head and allows me to get inspired. I get inspired by seeing old buildings that are well renovated, all kinds of art and crafting books, people who are doing what they love, and old movies. Seeing small design details really inspires me, especially mundane ones that no one notices. I think in the everyday world, good design gets unnoticed. Bad design makes your life hard, unnecessarily. Design is everywhere! The other day, I was trying to plug my USB plug into my car and it was in the most ridiculous place ever - the worst design - I had to pull over and get into a weird position to get it plugged in. Things like that makes me want to do better design - it inspires me by annoying me.
My husband Zach also inspires me! He’s a talented builder and when we want to change some things in our home, he comes to the table with lots of great ideas.
4.) What inspired this collection?
I wanted to design a collection of bows for every day that were easy to pair with many outfits. Kind of like the basics you always reach for in your closet, that go with everything. That and I picked fabrics that I always gravitate towards, like denim, strips, and airy sheer, gauzy fabrics.
For kids I love: Animals Observatory, Go Gently Nation,MABO, and Zara… and I’m not gonna lie - I frequently buy Cat and Jack from Target, especially their bottoms. They are the only company I have found that make pants and shorts with elastic drawstrings and adjustable waists so kids can grow into them and also pull pants up and down by themselves to go to the bathroom. I think I would be more into kids clothes if I had a girl!

6.) We know you’re very interested in home design. Can you tell us a bit more about your current home projects?
We have been working on our house little by little over the course of 3 years. Zach has been doing most of the work - physically and the planning. He’s a structural engineer. I’ll give design input and he’ll makes sure that it’s do-able structurally and within our budget. For difficult things like tile and drywall, we hire specialists contractors. It’s a collaboration but I have not helped with any of the physical aspects (haha).
Our basement is finally finished! I feel like that took forever. Now I need to furnish it, which will take some thought and some time using the space. I take a long time making decisions about furniture and interior decisions for my home - it feels so permanent that I don’t want to get tired of it. I think that’s why I lean towards neutrals. Also, I find it more soothing and less stressful to take my time and let the space grow and change as we do.
7.) What was your favorite Wunderkin Co. collection to design?
The Mimi Capsule! Wunderkin has done so many capsules and collections since I’ve been there, that it’s hard for me to remember which one was my favorite. However, it is most rewarding to find fabrics that worked easily with design and production - making the seamstresses happy because the fabrics were nice to work with. Sometimes those two elements don’t match up.
8.) What are your plans for the near and distant future?
I have a lot of things planned for Oliver for the summer like swim lessons, music lessons, and summer camp. We have some family trips planned as well. My main goal is to be more present with my family. I’m excited about the growing community of young families in our neighborhood. It’s all of the sudden active with lots of kids for Oliver to play with - especially now that the weather is nice.
As far as creative things - I’ve been working on making a quilt (as a gift for my newly wed friends) and will probably have some personal sewing projects to keep my creativity going.
Who knows - maybe I’ll study interior design and expand my design knowledge?

Social media brought us together, but our Elexis Bronson x Wunderkin Co. capsule stands for so much more. We at Wunderkin Co. were introduced to Instagram influencer Elexis Bronson when her sweet daughter Ellie was tagged in one of our velvet bows last November. Since then we have learned so much more about this mother of three (almost four) and we are honored to have co-created a limited collection of bows releasing March 30th at 10am Mountain Time. Inspired by Elexis' memories and moments with her grandmothers and great grandmothers, we got together with Elexis to talk about how these women shaped her journey through motherhood.
1.) For those of us that don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself!
My name is Elexis! I am a stay at home mom to three littles and one baby girl due this summer. I have two older boys, Bentleigh and Hurleigh, and our youngest is Ellie. We live in gorgeous Utah. I moved here from Minnesota 11 years ago and met my husband not long after! We have been married for almost 9 years now. I have always had a passion for design. My hope after high school was to go to fashion school, but my road took me to other places! We have been buying Wunderkin bows since their Free Babes Handmade days!
2.) What inspired this collection?
When designing this collection I was really inspired by my great grandmothers and grandmothers. My grandmother on my dad’s side is the only one still with us but they all were so influential in my life I really wanted something that I could have and remember them by always. My father and his mother and grandmother migrated here from Trinidad and Tobago so I was really inspired by the colors of Carnival, which is a yearly festival. My maternal grandmother migrated here from Germany so I was really inspired by all the lace she would bring over and the floral country sides I would always hear of. All of my grandmothers had such colorful personality so I feel like marrying the two inspirations together worked so perfectly for this collection. I always wanted these bows to work for every occasion and I really hope that is what these bows become for every little girl.

3.) What is your favorite bow in this collection?
My favorite bow would probably be the Indie Midi Fable. This pattern is a one of a kind made just for this collection and I knew I wanted to name it after our little girl we are expecting.

"Ellie Luca" Oversized Schoolgirl
4.) How would you personally style these bows?
I really feel like these bows will work with so much. My daughter loves to wear dresses so I can see here wearing a really basic linen dress this summer with any of these bows. She’s also a jeans and t-shirts kind of gal so you bet we will be pairing them with that!
"Emma" Petite Schoolgirl Pigtail Set
5.) What are some essential pieces in your child’s wardrobe?
I am a super simple girl so I feel like that rolls over into my kids. For Ellie I love dresses in the summer. A good chambray dress will go with everything! A white, boho top with denim shorts is also on repeat all summer. I really just like to let them take the reins on what they wear so when I go to a store I will ask her if she likes something or doesn’t and that’s really how we decide what ends up in her closet! There are some amazing shops online that have great basics I love to shop at. Fin and Vince, Jamie Kay, and June and January just to name a few. All those shops have really great basics in solid colors and those are the pieces I gravitate to the most.

6.) What is your favorite part about motherhood?
I really feel like motherhood made me into the woman I am today. I never wanted children but when I met my husband I knew we were made to be parents. With each child we have I feel like I come a little more into myself, but I would have to say my favorite part is seeing them together and interacting. My siblings were older than I was so I never had that close sibling bond. It’s amazing to watch each of their relationships flourish and grow every day.
7.) What are some of your favorite Instagram accounts to follow?
8.) What three words would you use to describe this collection?
Colorful, Blume (love), nostalgic
"Emma" Thick Retro Knot
9.) What guides you in parenting? What are your hopes and dreams for your daughter?
What really guides me in parenting is just knowing that one day these little people will be big people out in the world and I not only want them to love and respect themselves, but to have compassion and kindness for those around them. I want them to know that know matter what happens in life, the good, the bad, the ugly, they always have a loving home to come back to that will listen and be there no matter what. When I found out I was having a daughter I was TERRIFIED! How could I raise a strong and confident woman when I could barely figure that out for myself? Especially now, when social media is so prevalent and comparing yourself to all these amazing women you see daily is definitely something that happens. We didn’t have that when I was growing up but the pressure to be this picture perfect imagine is so high today that kids are really struggling. I just really wanted her to know that no matter what she does or who she becomes, there’s no ceiling that can keep her down or road to far to travel. That’s something that I really took from my grandmothers and great grandmothers.
Sure I may not always have the confidence in myself I need and yeah there may always be someone prettier or smarter or better at something than you are but that’s okay. The one thing you have that they don’t is that you are you and no one can change that. Your gifts are your strength and no matter what anyone says or does, I am always pushing to be the best me. I really just hope she knows that. That she doesn’t have to try and impress anyone, the only opinion of herself that matters is her own.
