Eclipse Security Systems has been providing home and business owners throughout Melbourne with Security solutions since 2000. Over the years Eclipse Security Systems has led with the changes in technology, to now be considered at the forefront of Security Industry for Victoria.
With the long weekend fast approach, you may well be planning to stay at home and get the kids prepared for the year ahead or you may be planning to throw caution to the wind and hit the road in search of the best surf. Either way, it’s a great time to put your security checklist together so that you know your home or business is secure when you are not there.
A Home Security Checklist should be simple and completed in minutes as it is really just a reminder more than anything. Place it on or by your alarm keypad so that you don’t forget to do it each time you leave the house, that is assuming you have an alarm system. If you don’t, call us on 1300 661199 or click, Request a Quote now!
A Business Security Checklist is a little more complex and may have multiple levels, such as the end of day Security Checklist, end of the week Security Checklist & quarterly Security Checklist. The Duty Manager or Senior member of staff would normally carry out the daily & weekly checks along with OH&S checks. It is a good idea to have the Security Checks diarised or if you have an internal system that allows you to create tasks or jobs for the member of staff responsible, this is a great way to track the Security Checks and comments. By documenting the checks the business owner is assured that any security threats to the business are minimised and should an incident occur that procedures have been followed.
Security Checklists carried out by staff members should be kept simple and should cover things such as checking all windows and internal doors are closed, storage or warehouse doors are secured, internal lighting, heating and cooling are turned off. External lighting may need to be left on or a sensor lighting system may be in place. The last thing to do before leaving is to activate the Security Alarm.
If an issue arises ie lights flash on your Alarm keypad you can request a service call here: Request Service Call. Equipment should only be checked by a qualified Technician, ask us about our Annual Maintenance Packages. Your company should have a Security Maintenance Agreement in place. Security Maintenance Agreements ensure that hardware is maintained and in working order and not going to fail when you need it most. Eclipse Security Systems Technicians check for faults and resolve minor issues, they will also inform your account manager if there is a need to provide or upgrade the security in line with your Business needs.
If you do not currently have a Security Maintenance Agreement in place and would like to speak to one of our Technical Sales Team, Please call 1300 661199 or Request a Quote

Eclipse Security Systems are Specialists in CCTV System Installation for High-End Residential & Commercial Business across Melbourne. Below are the Top 5 Considerations our Technical Solutions Consultants will evaluate when choosing the best CCTV System to be Installed for your Business.
There are CCTV Cameras that are manufactured with a specific industry in mind, which can provide the business with added benefits. An example of this is Heat Mapping CCTV Cameras tailored to Retail Stores. Heat mapping provides a deeper understanding of customer movement within a store. Using CCTV data analysis the Store Owner can have a better understanding of product placement. Also, identifying busy and quiet times in order to manage staff rostering. Facial recognition can also be useful to alert when someone has entered the store that has previously been recorded shoplifting.
CCTV Camera Coverage
Knowing the areas that need to be covered by CCTV Cameras is an important aspect for consideration when evaluating the best CCTV Systems to be Installed. There may be a number of sites that need to be managed from one location or one site with External & Internal CCTV Cameras (ie Reception, Stock Room, Offices). There are a number of CCTV Camera types, each will cover a specified angle and distance from the Camera location, CCTV Cameras with pan, tilt and zoom capabilities are also possible.
Understanding CCTV Environment
CCTV cameras operate best on an overcast day when there is even light and objects are well lite, making it easy to see details in the images (resolution of the Camera & Monitor will also be a factor in image quality). Low light conditions can cause issues and therefore CCTV Cameras that can deal with low light conditions should be installed. Alternatively, motion sensing lights may be an option. The sun can cause lens flare on a bright sunny day, so the location and angle of the camera should take this into consideration. When CCTV Camera Systems are being installed in new buildings before fit-out, requires an understanding of how the facility is going to be used and possible obstructions after the fit-out (such as walls, furniture or shelving).
CCTV System Objective
Knowing the clients Objective for the CCTV System Installation upfront ensures that the best solution is provided. CCTV Cameras providing protection and peace of mind for the business owner is not always the only objective although the most common. CCTV System Technology can provide solutions that may not have been considered or the client may have specific requirements such as people counting, facial recognition or licence plate identification. CCTV Systems can provide businesses with added benefits from data collected, analysed and reported, to improve processes can save on labour costs and reduce OH&S risks.
Allocating Budget for CCTV System Installation
When budgeting for CCTV System Installation, all the above considerations will impact the budget. Cheapest is not going to be the best solution or the best return on investment long term. Choosing a reputable company that specialises in security solutions, is trusted and can provide you with ongoing support and maintenance as well as expert advice. The Security Company should hold a security license and be a member of Asial which is the Security Industry Association. You should also check their website and ensure that they have a physical business that you can visit should you need a demonstration of products or have any issues after your installation. A well established Security Company is more likely to understand your requirements and be up to date with the latest technology available, which in turn may provide a better long term solution.

Do you have a Monitored Alarm System and want to know how the NBN is going to affect you? Here are some of the FAQ’s that might assist you, should you not find the answer to your question here, please call us on 1300 66 11 99.
What is NBN?
The National Broadband Network (NBN) is currently being rolled out across Australia. 93% of Australian homes, Schools and Businesses will have high-speed internet and phone access by 2025.
When will I get NBN in my Area?
You can check with your retail phone provider or here: NBN In My Area?
What happens when the NBN is in my Area?
Once the NBN is available in your area you will be notified, there will be an 18 month transition period before Telstra has a regulatory obligation to disconnect your property from the traditional copper wire network. You can call 1800 687 626 or visit www.nbnco.com.au for more information.
How does NBN affect my Monitored Alarm?
If your alarm is connected to your phone line there may be interruptions to your monitoring service. You should contact your alarm monitoring service provider as a precaution. If we monitor your alarm, you can email our service department with any questions or to notify us of the date that your NBN is being installed, so that we can keep an eye on your alarm reporting on that day: email@example.com or call us on 1300 66 11 99.
Does the NBN affect my Monitored Alarm if I have GSM or GPRS Alarm Monitoring?
No, because these types of monitoring do not use a phone landline for communication purposes you will not be affected. However as a precaution, if we monitor your alarm we would like you to call us once the NBN has been installed to ensure that there has been no interference or disconnection of with your alarm monitoring service during the NBN installation.
What do I need to do if my Monitored Alarm Service uses my phone line?
You must tell NBNCo prior to installation, that you have a monitored alarm so that they can install a Uni-V voice port. In our experience this is not full proof, so you will also need to call us to check that your monitoring service has not been disrupted.
How do I make sure that I have done everything correctly?
Download this checklist to help you: Check List
How can I ensure that my Business Alarm Monitoring Service is not affected by the NBN?
If you already have a system installed you can add a 4G mobile communications module to your system. If you would like to know more about making the switch, complete the form below and we will call you within 24 hours or call us now on 1300 66 11 99.
To promote Melbourne as a Safe City, The Safe City Cameras Melbourne Program has installed 65 CCTV Surveillance Cameras in and around the City.
The cameras operate in areas where anti-social behaviour or criminal activity are more likely to occur. The cameras are linked to a control centre staffed 24 hours a day. Signs and pavement plaques have been placed in areas where activity is being monitored.
The program aims to provide a safer environment and reduce crime levels by deterring potential offenders and helping in crime detection.
The Safe City Cameras Melbourne Program
The City of Melbourne established a CCTV system in the city in 1997. The Safe City Cameras Program (SCCP) has operated continuously since that time and was one aspect of Council’s Strategy for a Safer City 2011–2013. Following the Bourke Street incident in 2017, the Victorian Government funded an expansion of the CCTV network, with 31 new cameras to be installed by the end of 2018.
This camera program assists Council and the Victoria Police to work together to improve response times to crime and other emergencies. The program was developed to:
contribute to the provision of a safer physical environment
assist Victoria Police to reduce crime levels by deterring potential offenders
aid detection of crime, breaches of laws, identify offenders and assist with emergency response.
