I traveled to Bermuda for a long weekend wedding and to my surprise I was taken back to the basics! A smart phone toting, computer typing, TV watching American had me set up for instant failure as soon as I set foot on the island. I behaved like a typical New Yorker, on my phone with my air pods, that ultimately got lost, and unengaged with the people around me. So much so that it took a cab driver two times to get me to respond with a hello. In that moment I decided to get back to the basics and enjoy the beauty of Bermuda, a quaint country that appreciates culture, community and relaxation! First let’s start with the fashion! Note – This layout will be less of a typical travel guide and more of a conversation about my overall experience. My favorite piece of the trip was a Tanya Taylor maxi dress from Rent The Runway. I’ve taken my closet back to the basics, renting out pieces that I rarely wear through Wardrobe and condensing by purging and renting. This two-tone print maxi stole the show with its effortless silhouette and tropical colors. Wow the crowd and shop […]

Someone wise once said “you are built not to shrink, but to blossom into more.” Blooming into your thirties is no easy feat. With less than two years, there are so many tips that I would love to tell my thirty year old self. In true blogger form I decided to revolve a post around it. Speaking from experience, I am explaining how to blossom into more by expanding. Yes you fantastic woman, I am talking to you! First let’s start with the fashion, if you are loving this pattern clashing floral look you can shop a similar outfit using Like To Know It! You are only look as good as you feel, so this is the primary tip to living life in style – consciously. Now onto the lifestyle tips. We are all meant to grow and we will, whether we grow kicking and screaming or peacefully. For a while I was growing and having a tantrum simultaneously. Years later I realized that the anxiety that comes from that behavior couple with sheer confusion is unhealthy. Embracing what is became the only way to truly blossom into more, but this is easier said than done and takes some direction. […]

Not only is life consistently changing, so is the weather. When Spring breaks, but the cold air is still a factor, it’s time to appreciate the transition. From your outfit to your mindset, take on change stylishly while embracing whatever newness it may bring! The Winter to Spring transition is by far my favorite, when you get a chance to merge two styles of dress and make them one. This is also a perfect time for some Spring cleaning, packing away things that you don’t need and donating some for others to love. Both a fashion and lifestyle post, check out ways to not only honor the change in weather but to also honor the changes in life! Starting with style, there are easy ways to take your wardrobe from cold to chilly asap. Transitional wear is defined as items that can be worn from season to season. 1- First, find a light coat that you normally wear with winter accessories that you can pack away at this point. Fabrics like wool, cashmere and wool all wear well year round (minus summer of course). I chose my black and white houndstooth jacket that is warm enough for fluctuating temperatures. This […]

It’s officially 2019 and it’s time for a new post. As I continue building and expanding my site I’ve decided to take on the challenge of being more open about those “dark days” that we all have. Running what some may call a social media brand (trust me I did not set out to create one) it has become quite easy to just post pretty pictures with meaningless captions and avoid talking about real life. We have gotten to a point where it needs to be understood that “life is not just a highlight reel, life is real!” I stated this one day when talking to my friends about sharing using my platform, starting with more vulnerable posts on my personal facebook page about overcoming trials and tribulations. It was said and now it is written. Read on about how I combat my negative feelings that we all have on a daily basis and of course you can shop this look later on in the post! Starting with the very location of this shoot, I woke up that morning knowing that I was going to get the best photo by the Brooklyn Bridge as laid out in my comprehensive treatment. […]

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy New Years & Happy Holidays! In line with more conscious choices pamper yourself with gifts that give back. You’ve spent your time tirelessly shopping for others so make sure to do something nice do something nice for yourself along the way. Still a devout vegan, black girl advocate, and environmentally friendly fashionista shop my holiday look which encompasses brands and designers that support all of these missions! Finding Faux Fur has been easier than I thought, getting my hands on and Heurueh “mean business” color block coat that turns heads every-time. Shop this coat instantly here and enter the New Year in style while saving some animals along the way. I actually packed my vintage fur away for the first time this year. Visit your local estate, moving and porch sale using Craigslist & Facebook Marketplace to track down one of a kind offerings. I shopped these Fringe Faux Suede Boots at my friends porch sale, which is a great way to score unworn items that would normally get tossed to the back of a closet or eventually given away. Wear lipstick that’s good enough to eat. The Lip Bar is all about cruelty […]

I didn’t always think before I bought, in fact reading the label wasn’t even a factor. I just purchased what I thought looked good, later realizing that some styles are at the expense of the environment and in fact, not sustainable! As I continue transitioning into Veganism and appreciating this cruelty free lifestyle the signs become more clear. I am no veteran, instead I’m a newbie looking to learn and share all that I can about making our planet a better place through my passion in fashion. I packed away all my furs and replaced them with faux, made an attempt to wear less leather even though I love my designer bags and even took a deeper look at the harmful nature of polyester, oh my! Once I made the decision to stop wearing fabrics like suede, leather and fur I went straight to the next best thing, faux suede, faux leather and faux fur. I was strutting my stuff not knowing how toxic poorly produced polyester actually is, and it is most certainly in so many things, even my supposed sustainable shoes. Polyester is in fact not biodegradable and the dyes used to obtain the color are not environmentally […]

I recently celebrated my one year vegan-versary and not only has my diet become cruelty free, my wardrobe has undergone a major shift as well. Always an animal lover but a slave to style, I own furs and loads of leather handbags. Over the years I began experimenting with faux fur and what is now called vegan materials. We are talking about faux suede & leather, satin, etc! Sustainable materials don’t always have to be faux, fabrics like linen and nylon fall into this category. I’m now making a conscious effort to only purchase sustainable pieces that are still high quality and fashionable; easier said than done. Learn more about what designers offer chic sustainable pieces, like this leopard winter coat, after the break! Being that it went from fall to winter in seconds, a warm coat is necessary! I grabbed this color-blocked leopard coat from none other than Pinko, who boasts quality faux in fashionable form. I feel confident and conscious when I throw this bad boy on. Style is all about the aura you give off in your clothes, it has absolutely nothing to do with what you’re wearing. That’s why when you see people simply following trends […]

I recently made a lifestyle change with my partner and went Vegan! It’s been 9 months and I’m feeling better than ever, from the inside out. From food to fashion, supporting cruelty free brands is my ultimate goal. I decided to change my diet after a lifetime of not eating pork or red meat, so growing up I never craved it. I was a heavy chicken eater and that pretty much went into every meal.  Then after not liking the taste, I cut out chicken (sounds unbelievable but it happened). Next came fish, I ate it all the time but it wasn’t helping my digestive system so that had to go. Last was my lactose intolerant issue, if you grew up around me I spent a lot of my spare time being violently sick from eating cheese and dairy. A part of the American diet, I tried to “stomach it” but eventually I grew tired of spending my spare time sick! The final straw was when we watched What The Health and more light was shed onto why all the things I was conditioned to eat made me feel like crap. So with all that said,  I decided to go […]

These days manifestation has been proving itself worthy and patience has prevailed. I had the pleasure, ultimate pleasure, of attending Paris Fashion week for the very first time during the S/S 19 season! I remember when I would say that I one day dreamt of making it to my first International Show and after a few years it happened. The most amazing thing is that it can happen for you as well. Not only does what you think become reality, I am sharing some hacks on how to treat yourself to Paris Fashion Week! A BRIEF HISTORY Someone asked me what makes Paris such a highlight, the answer is the charm of the city! Known for the arts, it is a mecca for all things fashion and paintings. Walking down the street was enough style for any runway show. The Eiffel Tower is one of the seven wonders of the world and the most visited site in Paris. So it was no surprise that we went, make sure to snag tickets in advance here to skip the line. The 1900’s was the tipping point for Paris, with artists like Picasso moving to call it their home! WHERE WE STAYED Per […]

As I enter into another year on this earth, a life that isn’t promised to any one of us, growth is all that I can focus on. Running a digital brand centered around looking perfect for so long turned me into a victim of the Three S’s – Social Media, Status and Self Indulgence! I didn’t know it then, but this pattern of worldly living eventually lead to my mental destruction. I got to a place where every day was harder than the next and every blessing that I had was overlooked because I focused on the Three S’s everyday. I would wake up and check my phone, as Kanye says crowd source my self esteem, just to compare myself to the next woman and feel worse. It all came to a head when no matter what, I was miserable. I may have looked good, but the pain I felt inside was almost unbearable. As I came closer to my 31st birthday, the universe told me that if I wanted to live a free life, free of the world’s pressures, my whole outlook and platform had to change. How can I say that I am positively impacting young women when I […]
