I’ve been blogging over five years now, and I’m pretty proud of how far I’ve come. Because of blogging, I’ve had some amazing opportunities, found the confidence to develop my own business, and made lifelong friends. There are always highs and low when it comes to running a blog. And to be honest, for the majority of the last year; there has been a spark missing from my blog. I still love it just as much, but blogging has been much less of a priority since I got pregnant, and it’s fallen by the wayside. There are obvious reasons for this of course. I have a baby now which is my number one priority of course, then secondly would be my business and running an online shop. Then if I have time after that? Sure, I’ll blog. But even if I really want to, I either don’t have time, or I don’t have energy to put the effort in like I used to. Time to change It’s bothered me for a long time now, and I’m determined to fix this! I want to go back to the old days of really putting in an effort to get the perfect flatlay, […]

I’m still working out the specific date that I’ll officially be back to work, but it’s guaranteed to be in the next two or three weeks. My time on maternity leave is coming to an end, and I’m both thrilled and terrified. Thrilled, because work makes me incredibly happy and is a big part of who I am. I love my job and I can’t wait to start this next chapter. Terrified because nothing is changing in terms of baby duties. I still have a 7 month old to look after, Gary is still working just as much, and River won’t be starting nursery until September. Which means I still have all the normal day to day duties to do, except now I ALSO have to be working on a business by myself, running it, creating products, promoting them, shipping items, and hopefully making enough money to keep us all alive. Wow. No pressure then. It’s SO, so scary. The past seven months have been wonderful, and exhausting. But no matter how busy I was, or stressed, or lonely, the one thing that was certain at least; was that every two weeks, I would get paid maternity allowance. There would […]

I’ve had this particular blog for 5 years now, and I had one or two blogs for a year or so before that too. In this time, I’ve had highs and lows, and I’ve found it’s normal for me to reach a point where everything feels a little stale. It’s not that the passion has gone, it’s just understandable when you’re creating content online regularly, to reach a breaking point. Firstly, sometimes taking a break is the most obvious and natural solution; and it really works! When you stop putting pressure on yourself, and take your mind somewhere else, it can make the world of difference. However if you’ve tried that, or you really don’t want to stop creating; here are some tips for rejuvenating your blog and social media when needed. Good luck!   Have a clear out Don’t be afraid to be ruthless when it comes to what kind of content you’re consuming online. If you’re anything like me, you’ll spend a lot of time online. If I’m not browsing Instagram, or chatting on Twitter, or reading blogs, or checking out Pinterest.. I’m… asleep? Ha. No, but really, I know I do spend quite a bit of […]

If you have been following my parenting journey so far, or even just follow me on Instagram; you’ll have noticed I don’t rave about many baby products unless I REALLY love them. There are a few reasons for that. 1. I don’t like to overload my feed with baby things. I already share River’s mug enough LOL. 2. Most of the ‘must-have’ products I see people banging on about don’t phase me, or I’ve found a cheaper alternative. 3. I believe every baby and parent has completely different needs, so I leave people to make their own mind up, unless I think something is extra special and needs raving about. Enter, the baby wrap. It’s the one product I have not stopped talking about, and I’ve found the very BEST version of it out there from Mothership*.  For months now, I’ve posted on my Instagram again and again about how much using a baby wrap to ‘wear’ River has helped me. I’ve recommended baby wraps again and again, and I doubt I’ll ever shut up about them now. The funny thing is, before I had a baby I didn’t like the look of them! (HA!). I thought it was simply […]

*AD – Gifted experience in exchange for a review.   It’s not often I get the chance to enjoy a meal with Gary baby free, much less with cocktails involved! So when Turtlebay Plymouth invited us along to try their menu, I organised a babysitter and jumped at the chance! Turtlebay is known for being the best Caribbean restaurant and bar in the UK, and it never fails to impress me. If you’re after exquisite jerk chicken, a plethora of rum, and a good time; then you need to head down to your local bay.   Upon arrival we started off with a variety of cocktails; Gary went for Sky Juice – a frozen blend of pomegranate, pineapple, orange & lemon juices, and I went for the Side Chick Martini – vodka, passion fruit, orange juice, prosecco side. It was AMAZING, seriously happy to have this as my ride or die cocktail! They have SO many wonderful combinations whether you want alcohol or not though, that exploring the drinks menu alone would be awesome. But, onto the food! I went for Trini Curry Chicken; Caribbean spices, coconut milk, coconut rice’n’peas and sweet potato fries. Gary opted for Hallo Haloumi; Grilled halloumi […]

Ello ello folks! It’s been a bit of a minute hasn’t it? Sorry about that. I don’t force myself to blog if I don’t have time/am not in the mood/other responsibilities take over/etc. So often I can miss a week or two… or three. Lately has just been a time thing, I feel like I haven’t had a spare moment! Gary’s working a lot of overtime lately, and any time I do have ‘spare’, I’m using to clean up the house so it’s not totally chaotic, or trying to work on products for my shop relaunch (just 8 weeks to go!!). I know I don’t have to be cleaning up manically and I should let myself relax more.. but I find having a messy house genuinely makes me feel on edge now. So it does me good to fix it, even if it takes up that one spare hour I have.  I know, I’m so boring now!! I’m like a regular mom, not a cool mom. I say mum really, but you get the reference. ANYWAY This week I’ve had my hair and nails done, so I’m feeling pretty nice and less of a hot mess than usual. I’ve […]

There was once a time where I’d blow all my wages on a shopping spree full of clothes, shoes and makeup; without a second thought. My pennies would be gone before I’d even got through payday if I’m honest, and that’s great when I was carefree living with Mum still, no responsibilities and no need to think ahead. These days I’m SO much better with my money though, and the greatest pleasure I get is by putting it back into our home. That’s why I’m working with Bathing Solutions to talk about perfecting your home for YOU! Right now I’m obsessed with planning all the changes, tweaks, decor and DIY I have planned for each and every room in our house! I’m currently concentrating on the bedroom; some little additions need to be made to our decor, but mainly the big transformations have been done (and I love it!). Once River is sleeping in his own bedroom, we will have even more space and the whole room will look beautiful. I’ll be sure to show it in it’s entirety ASAP. I also have SO MANY plans for the rest of the house though, so I thought I’d share them all […]

When you first have a baby, it can be really overwhelming to know what you’ll need to have in. Sure, there are the obvious things like the crib, the cute clothes, and all the feeding paraphernalia; but what about the other essentials to keep your baby feeling great? Babies are really susceptible to colds, and if anyone near them has the sniffles; chances are they will too! Snufflebabe provides an amazing range of truly wonderful products to help keep your baby feeling their very best, with more time to concentrate on snuggles! When River was just FIVE weeks old, he actually caught a bad case of Bronchiolitis and he was admitted into hospital for almost a week. He was a little champ, and I was reassured over and over again that unfortunately it’s very common for young babies to get this, or at least the average cold going around. After he had gotten over the worst of it, we took him home and looked after him there, but he still had all the symptoms of a really nasty cold for a while afterwards. This is where Snufflebabe was such a help to us! Very young babies can’t breathe through their […]

I don’t want to jinx it, but things are going really well right now. I’ve found myself having lots more good days than bad, and I wake with a bit more pep in my step these days. The first few months of motherhood were hard – okay, no, they still are! – but it’s getting easier. And I’ve had so much to smile about lately, it’s lovely. So I wanted to share with you guys ten happy things lately, and I’d love if you shared your own happy moments this week too!   1. A better schedule As you may have read in my May Goals post; I’ve started prioritising more me time with a new schedule, and I aim to make it a constant thing. It feels bloody WONDERFUL already, and this week has been the best one in ages if I’m honest. Huge shout out to Gary who has opted to take over River duties every moment he’s home from work, not giving himself a minute to relax. He’s prioritised me; letting me relax, get naps in, work on designs if I wish, paint, etc. I don’t want this to be constant thing (I also want us to […]

I’ve found myself feeling rejuvenated by the brighter days, and the warmer weather here and there. I’ve always been an Autumn/Winter kinda girl, and probably always will be, but I’m definitely appreciating Spring right now more than I ever have. Having a baby in the Winter meant I was really limited with what I could do each day, making maternity leave all that more boring. On top of that, him being so young meant there was nothing HE could do, or get out of going out. However, now that River is almost six months old; he’s got so many new abilities, and much more curiosity about the world around him. So now we can start to enjoy so much more day to day, rather than Netflix and nursery rhymes (which both get very old, very quick).  With that in mind, my main goal for the month of May is just to ENJOY IT. But if you want specifics? Here are my five little goals…   1. Have specific family days out AND baby free time each week. I want the best of both world, and I recognise that both are equally important. So each week I want to make […]
