Depths of Beauty is a blog by Professional MUA Emmily Banks who supports natural, organic, nourishing and non toxic beauty. Her mission is to share and educate people about the depths of beauty and she also reviews and shares products.
We are ALL about less is more here at Depths and one of our absolute favourite natural beauty hacks is to find products that you can use for multiple purposes so that you’re buying less, wasting less and getting out the door in half the time- sounds good right?! Whether its lippy for blush, eyeliner for brows or bronzer for shadow.. we have you covered! Here are some of our go-to chameleon products...
INIKA CERTIFIED ORGANIC LIP AND CHEEK CREAM
Lipsticks and cream blushes can be used interchangeably not only for ease of use BUT using the same colour on both lips and cheeks is really flattering on the face too!
This beautiful rose colour is perfect for all complexions to bring life and youth into the face (as we age we lose the natural pinky red tones in our lips and cheeks so a colour like this is perfect!).
Use as lippie and blush and voila!
Enriched with Sweet Almond Oil and Vitamin E to hydrate the lips and cheeks.
Eye liner and brow pencil? We think yes! Not only is this brown liner a softer choice for everyday eye looks (and great for blue/green eyes), when you're zipping out the door why not quickly run through the brows as well for added definition and shape?
Great pigment, creamy consistency and gentle on the eyes.
The main ingredient in this liner is coconut oil, making it beautifully creamy and nourishing for the delicate eye area and perfect for those with sensitive eyes.
Saves you buying two pencils that essentially do the same thing!
Bronzers are great for contouring, defining and giving a summer glow to the face. They also double as the perfect everyday eyeshadow colour for warm, defined eyes.
This mineral bronzer contains absolutely no hidden nasties and is lightweight, long lasting and gives natural colour to the face.
Not only is this the perfect contour, very light and easily blended into the skin for a natural finish but it can also be used as an eye shadow.
The warm, bronze shade is perfect for all complexions and a great way to add definition to the eyes. With a small angled brush you can also use this on the lash line in place of liner- three in one how about that?!
Now we know that our beauty and dietary choices play an integral role in the health of our skin, but what about the health of our colon? We were lucky enough to visit Vitalita for 3 colonic sessions to get an idea of the full benefits of colon hydrotherapy.
WHAT IS COLONIC HYDROTHERAPY?
Colonic Hydrotherapy is a safe and natural treatment that is proven to deliver a plethora of health benefits. It’s been around for thousands of years and is practiced in many clinics around the world. A colonic is an internal cleanse that shifts and flushes out toxic waste, excess gas and mucus. It is a controlled method of cleansing the colon using a gentle, gravity fed flow of water.
COLONICS FOR GLOWING SKIN?
When we detox, the first place we usually see it is our skin right? So it makes sense that a backed up colon is quite toxic for the body. When our intestines aren't happy, it can show on our skin. So detoxing from within and removing all of the crap (literally) you are bound to see a positive change in your skin. I know I did! After the colon is cleansed the skin is no longer loaded with additional toxins, which reduces the chance of breakouts. Cleansing the colon can also assist in allowing our good bacteria to flourish which can ease symptoms of eczema and psoriasis.
WHAT OTHER RESULTS WILL YOU SEE?
Improved complexion and acne
Improved cognitive function
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The treatment at Vitalita took around 40-45 minutes. Your first session also includes a complimentary sauna session.
SHOULD YOU TRY IT?
If you feel open to giving colonics a try I HIGHLY recommend seeing the team at Vitalita. They are so professional and make the whole experience so relaxing.
Vitalita is a holistic wellness space that offer a range of treatments to help their clients heal, nourish and flourish. Specialising in Colon hydrotherapy they also offer Detox massage, Naturopathy and have a beautiful infrared sauna space.

Nimbus and Co. in Bondi (and now in Bondi’s soul city, Byron Bay!) is a divine little piece of tranquility and freshness. Well known for its infrared sauna offering, the healing space also offers treatments such as acupuncture, massage, naturopathy and yin yoga. Plus Karen Harrison from The Happy Co is the resident Reiki guru! Her brand reflects her essence and she shines happiness through her relaxed, nurturing manner and her seriously healing hands. Here is the lowdown on our recent Reiki experience with the guru herself!
WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is a practice that uses the lightest touches where heat flows through the hands of the practitioner to support inner peace, clarity and ease
It has the capacity to support every aspect of the body - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
Works on the energy centres or chakras to help relieve stress, illness and anxiety
HOW WILL YOU FEEL AFTERWARDS?
Deeply relaxed, the meditative state you will drop into as your energy centres are cleared will stay with you
Rejuvenated and balanced
Light and relieved of stress, worry and anxiety
Be prepared to sleep deeply as your body releases stress and reaches true relaxation
SHOULD YOU TRY IT?
Don’t underestimate the power of Reiki. Of surrender. Of letting someone take over your energy field for a little while. It’s easy to think that our time and budget would be better spent on a more intense treatment such as massage and even kinesiology - both have their healing place but there’s something wonderful about the place that Reiki can take you. Our own meditation and relaxation practices aren’t always able to get us as deep as we need to be to truly rejuvenate and come back to ourselves fully. Hand this over to Karen from the Happy Co and you’ll be guaranteed a taste of bliss!
