I was recently lucky enough to join a campaign in my favourite Canadian Beauty Blogger Facebook group, where we received some new Spring arrivals from Almay!
If you didn't know, Almay is a cosmetic company which is owned by Revlon, but created for people with sensitive skin. Almay has been committed to creating products that are pure and hypoallergenic for over 80 years!
Today I'm going to share with you some new products added to Almay's cosmetic line, that is easy to find in your local drug store!
First up, the eyes!
Almay - Smoky Eye Trios Eyeshadow in Smoldering Embers I used the lightest shade all over my lid going up to my brow bone. I also used the purple/middle shade in my crease. I used the bottom darkest shade to darken the outer corner part of my crease.
Almay - Velvet Foil Cream Shadow in Infinite Sky and Black Lightening
I only used Black Lightening on my eyes in the outer V section of my eye. These apply so creamy, and so pigmented, that just a little dot goes along way! It was easy to blend and I just used my fingers. I can't wait to play around with the blue shade.
Almay - Make Them Jelly Hi-Lite in 24k Dreams and Unicorn Light
This is the coolest texture of highlighter I have ever seen, or tried! It really is jelly, but its not wet, slimy, or sticky!
The pink shade (unicorn light) is definitely more noticeable on the skin, than the gold shade (24k dreams). I decided to use the pink on the tops of my cheekbones and in the inner corners of my eyes.
Last up, I was sent two new glosses.
Almay - Goddess Gloss in Enchanted and Magic
I decided to wear my look with Enchanted (purple) because it felt like it worked better with the cooler eyeshadow trio I was wearing. The glosses go on really smooth and aren't sticky. The glitter isn't too bold either.
Lastly... the mascara!
Almay - One Coat Mega Volume Mascara
I have actually received this mascara previously in an Influenster campaign and I really enjoyed how volumized it made my lashes. It definitely does not have your typical wand, but it applies easily and removes just as easily at the end of the night. I did have an issue in the past with this being clumpy as it was it was aging, however, I'm hoping its not an issue anymore. For the mean time, I'm loving my fanned out, volumized lashes.
It seems like spring is all about dew and glitter! Teenage me is loving all of it! And none of it is so in your face, that you can't wear it whenever you want!
As for the rest of my face, I'm wearing: - *Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 130 Porcelain for Normal/Dry skin - Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in 02 Mont Blanc - Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly - Lise Watier Feline Eyeliner HD in Matte Black
As always, empties are my favourite kind of post. I really enjoy seeing what I have used up each month, and I enjoy reading what others think of their empties as well.
March is over, and it felt like the quickest month ever. Let's see what I managed to use up.
I feel like I used up a good amount of products of different varieties.
MAC - Prep and Prime - Fix + I love using this as my last step in my makeup routine. It especially helps when I feel I may have been too heavy handed with powder products or something just looks drying on my face. I've already repurchased another.
Beautaniq Beauty - Fill and Tame Brow Gel in Clear This is just a clear brow gel and I thought I would enjoy it but something about the formula makes it really thick, so once it dries it makes your brows look crunchy. You know the effect of if you have too much hair gel? That's pretty much what it does. And sometimes it dries down white if its on the edge of your brow. I ended up tossing this early because I really didn't like it.
Jessies Girl - Liquid Eyeliner in Black I really like this eyeliner, but it's hard to find in Canada. It's not as dark as the Kat Von D liner, but it does a good job. I haven't repurchased only because it's so difficult to find.
Kat Von D - Tattoo Liner in Trooper This is probably my favourite eyeliner. It always goes on dark and dries down matte. I'm using a back up now, but I haven't repurchased yet. I want to try a few other brands before I purchase another.
Eyeko - Black Magic Mascara I really like this mascara and it's popped up in my empties a few times. It curls my lashes and holds all day, it darkens them and fans them out. It's just a nice mascara. It's a little difficult to remove but as long as you use a makeup remover first, before cleansing your skin, it will come off.
Tarte - Shape Tape in Fair Beige I have a love hate relationship with this concealer. It covers circles well, but its just so drying on the skin. I purchased 2 of these when they first came out and I'm just finishing one now, which shows how long this tube lasts. There was a little left on the bottom but I found that it was even more drying then usual, so I will toss it for now.
The BrowGal - Brow Gel in Brown Hair (02) I've used this brand in the past and liked it... but I guess it dried out and the brush actually broke so I couldn't use it and had to toss it.
Sunday Riley - Blue Moon Clean Rinse Cleansing Balm I redeemed my boxycharm charms for this cleansing balm. It being Sunday Riley, I expected it to be decent. However, this is the worst cleansing balm I've every used. It's gritty with pieces of wax that don't seem to breakdown, and the balm itself just doesn't remove makeup well. I'm glad I didn't pay for this, I would never repurchase it.
Farmacy - Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturizer I actually enjoyed this sample of this moisturizer. It wasn't heavy enough on its own for myself, but I enjoyed layering it and it felt like it really helped hydrate my skin.
Clarins - Re-Boost Refreshing Hydrating Cream This moisturizer smells amazing. It's not too thick or heavy which makes it nice for daytime use. I have a few other moisturizers to use up, but I would consider repurchasing.
Shiseido - Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate I'm not entirely sure what this does, but it feels amazing on my skin and adds an extra level of moisture which I feel I definitely need during the winter. This bottle was a PR sample, but I've already repurchased another.
Balance Me - Congested Skin Serum I liked this serum for my blemishes. I really feel it helped them disappear quicker. However this serum is old now and seems off, so I am tossing it. I would consider repurchasing it.
Nivea - 3-in-1 Micellar Water This is a nice, simple, micellar water. I enjoyed it. I have others to use up, but I would probably repurchase it.
Amika - Perk Up Dry Shampoo I love the scent of this dry shampoo, and it really works. I actually purchased the Amika straightening brush and it came with a full size of this dry shampoo, so I guess I would repurchase!
Briogeo - Scalp Revival Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo I really enjoy this scalp scrub. There must be mint in it, because you can really feel how soothing it is on the scalp. I felt like I used this sample up way too quickly though, so I'm unsure if I would repurchase it as a sample size, or full size.
Bath and Body Works/White Barn - Scented Candle in Pineapple Mango I love bath and body works candles, and they last a long time. This was a nice fruity scent and I would repurchase it again. The pineapple was stronger in the scent throw, then the mango.
Bath and Body Works - Shower Gel in Cool Coconut Surf Your typical tropical body wash. I love these types of scents so I will continue to repurchase them. Plus bath and body works shower gels lather so well, and I really enjoy them. I have others to use up.
Bath and Body Works - Foaming Hand Soap in Vanilla Bean Noel I must really enjoy this scent since I used two up between February and March. This is a light scent that isn't too overpowering, and I feel vanilla is something everyone enjoys. I'm not sure if I have more of this one in my stash, but I have plenty of other scents. I love these soaps!
So for the month of March, I ended up using 19 products. Not as much as I would have liked, but its a good amount!
Boxycharm is a subscription box service, that sends full size and deluxe sample size items to you each month. I've noticed majority of the time, you will get full sized products, and you receive 5 each month. It is $21 USD a month, plus shipping. There are discounts if you sign up for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. I originally signed up for 3 months, and it renewed for another 3 months automatically. Everyone generally gets the same box each month, with a few variations such as lipstick colours. Or a lipstick vs lip gloss. That being said, let's take a look at what I received for my March Boxycharm!
For some reason, this month I didn't receive a product card. But the theme was "Baecation"
5 - definitely full size - products.
First up, another eyeshadow palette. This time it's a collab between Boxycharm and Pur.
Pur - The Complexion Authority - Eyeshadow Palette This transitional palette can be used now or later to bring vibrancy back into your look. Our signature silky smooth ultra-mattes are paired with pretty pinks and a vibrant blue to lighten the mood. Plus, you can layer the shimmer shades for a duo chrome finish.
Now the colours in here are beautiful. I haven't swatched them yet because I'm just not sure if I should keep this palette. I'd love to think that I'd play with these colours because they are beautiful, but realistically, I know I won't. So, I've got to debate with myself on this one.
Pretty Vulgar - Make Them Blush in Hush Blush Make Them Blush powder blush awakens your complexion and provides a natural, glowy flush to your cheeks. This silky-smooth formula is long-wearing and highly pigmented. The buildable blush powder can be worn alone or paired for a multidimensional pop of color that will flatter any complexion.
This is a pretty, subtle shade. I haven't worn it yet, but I will probably put it to the test this week. I've heard they are quite pigmented, so use a light hand.
The Vintage Cosmetic Company - Smokey Eye Makeup Brush Set This brush set trio will enable you to create a stunning Smokey eye. Use subtle tones for a natural look, or bright and bold hues for a party look.
More brushes to add to the collection. These will be good to travel with since they aren't too large.
South Mane Beauty - Eye Gels Our eye gels are great for an easy mask without the clean-up. They soften and moisturize to ensure that you look rested and refreshed!
I don't use eye gels as often as I probably should, but I'm looking forward to giving these a try.
Butter London - Double Decker Lashes Mascara Get 200% thicker lashes in just one coat and a 314% increase in lash curl. The interlocking nylon fiber brush grasps each individual lash to lengthen, curl, and multiply lashes from root to tip.
I've been hearing very mixed reviews on this mascara. Some say they are loving it, others are saying it's a thick clumpy mess. I haven't tried this on my eyes yet, but I will say, just looking at the wand in person, I'm afraid mine will be a thick clumpy mess. The formula is very thick and gloopy looking. I might still give it a try, so I will come back with a separate review.
Overall this box is a little better than past boxes I have received. I'm still feeling very mixed on keeping this subscription, but I have it for another few more months, so I will decide closer to the end of my subscription. *This post contains a referral link. All opinions are my own*
As always, empties are my favourite kind of post. I really enjoy seeing what I have used up each month, and I enjoy reading what others think of their empties as well.
February is over, and it felt like the quickest month ever. Let's see what I managed to use up.
February is only 28 days, So I'm hoping we have at least 28 products!
Saturday Skin - Freeze Frame Beauty Essence I wanted to love this, it has such great reviews online. But it didn't do much for my dry skin. I didn't find that it boosted hydration in my skin like it claims. I even layered this with other products. It didn't wow me. I won't be repurchasing.
CosRX - Acne Pimple Master Patch These little pimple patches are the best. They really work! I have a few more to go through, but I would definitely order them again.
TooFaced - Hangover RX Primer I really wanted to love this on my dry skin, but I found it just didn't work with certain skincare. It balled up a lot, and when I did get it to work for me, I didn't find any difference in how long my makeup stayed on my skin. Kind of disappointing, but now I know not to waste my money on a full size!
Revlon - Volumazing Mascara I got this in either a Voxbox or Topbox to review, and I loved this mascara. It fanned out my lashes, it didn't give me raccoon eyes, and it kept my lashes curled all day. It started to get clumpy though as it got towards the 3 month mark, so I'm tossing it now. But I really enjoyed this and would consider purchasing the full size eventually.
Nude by Nature - Perfecting Primer This worked well enough. I find I'm not a big primer person. This also sometimes balled up. I'd pass on it in the future.
Wella Professionals - EIMI - Dry Shampoo This dry shampoo was good. I actually felt like it was doing something when I used it, and I liked that it didn't leave such a thick residue afterwards, like some dry shampoos do. I have some others to get through, but I would consider purchasing this in the future.
Garnier - Whole Blends Honey Treasures Shampoo and Conditioner I really liked this shampoo and conditioner! It was gentle, but still cleansed my hair well. It left it soft and manageable. I'd consider purchasing these in the future, but I have a huge amount to get through in the time being.
Christophe Robin - Purifying Shampoo This is a great purifying shampoo.. it really cleanses the scalp, and gets rid of product buildup. A little goes a long way. It does dry out the hair though, so I would recommend using a hair mask. I believe I have another sample size of this to get through.
Revlon - Equate - Instant Beauty Instant Love Detangling Conditioner I loved this detangler! I loved it so much I purchased the full size.. but in green apple scent for kids. It works great, it detangles, and makes my hair so much easier to brush through. I love it. I will say I hated the shape of this bottle so much, it made it difficult to spray. However, the full size is a normal spray bottle.
Bath and Body Works - White Barn Candle in Peppermint Marshmallow I'm sad I used this up. It was the perfect balance of sweet and minty. If it comes back in the future, I will repurchase it. However I have a ton of candles to get through.
Bath and Body Works - Foaming Hand Soap in Sparkling Mint Blossom I really enjoy the foaming hand soaps. This scent was nice a soft/gentle. It had a slight mint scent but wasn't overpowering at all. I'd consider repurchasing this scent another time. Again, I have a ton more other scents to get through.
So that's it! I only used up 12 products for the month. That's kind of disappointing! I will have to do better in March!
You know when you see the hyped up products, and you're like.. there's no way that is going to work for me.. but you decide to splurge and spend the money on the product anyway, because you need to see what the hype is about? That is this product for me. As the title says, this is the Summer Fridays - Jet Lag Mask.. that I kept seeing all over Instagram for months. And it was always sold out on Sephora's site. Finally, it was available one day - and I just had to order it and see for myself.
Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask is a rich combination of ceramides, vitamins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory ingredients that help to combat puffy, inflamed, over-worked skin. This ultra-hydrating facial mask immediately helps to calm, cool, and soothe your complexion.
This product is free from harmful ingredients such as artificial fragrance or color, harsh surfactants, petrolatum, GMOs, triclosan, hydrogen peroxide, EDTA’s, BHT or BHA, formaldehyde, or propylene glycol. This product has not been tested on animals and there are no animal by-products in this mask, meaning this mask is vegan. There is a very small amount of peppermint oil, corn mint oil, and orange oil to give this mask a tingling effect on the skin, which naturally smells amazing, too.
As you can see above, the mask is quite thick.. which it should be if it's going to be an overnight mask, at least in my opinion.
The mask can also be wiped off if you use it after cleansing your face, but I prefer my masks to work over night.
After giving this a try for quite a few months, I have to say, I'm not blown away. I love the texture of it, and it definitely plays well with my other skin care items... but I don't find that it adds anything extra to my skin. I don't notice that I look more glow-y over night.. and I don't notice if my skin is more hydrated either after I use it for a full night. Which is disappointing. I really wanted to love this as much as it is hyped, but it doesn't do anything amazing for my skin. Just another average over night mask. I won't be repurchasing once I run out.
I can't believe we are now in 2019. Where did the time go?! Anyway, as we all know by this point, empties are my favourite kind of post. Let's see what I used up for January 2019!
I can already tell that I didn't use up as many products as I would have liked, but I'm hoping 2019 will be a great year for panning items.
Revlon - Uniq One Hair Treatment (Original) and Lotus Flower I actually purchased this full size version first, and I really enjoyed it. It didn't have much of a scent in the original red bottle. The sample size came in a Topbox recently, and I didn't enjoy the scent as much.. but I really liked these. They help detangle my hair, and it's supposed to protect against heat. I liked it so much I repurchased it in the coconut scent.
Giovanni - Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo and Conditioner I really enjoyed these. They really made my scalp feel nice and clean, and had a refreshing feeling. I'd consider repurchasing the shampoo to get a nice deep clean on my scalp. The conditioner was nice too, but I feel the shampoo was a little better.
Saturday Skin - Featherweight Daily Moisturizing Cream This was a hybrid of a gel and cream, and was really light weight. I didn't find it hydrating enough for my dry skin, and I really hated the packaging. It has one of those airless pumps, but the cream would get stuck or it would only release on one side. It was weird. Smacking it, and opening it didn't help either. I wouldn't repurchase based on that alone because it was really annoying, but I also felt it didn't do anything for my skin.
Marcelle - Gentle Makeup Remover This is one of those makeup removers that are oil and water? And you shake it to mix it. It was a great eye makeup remover, I actually got this years ago for half price at superstore, so it definitely was worth the price. I've already repurchased a new one.
Farmacy - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm I really loved this stuff. The balm was a little softer then the Clinique version, but it worked so well. I've already repurchased a larger size.
Fresh - Soy Fresh Cleanser Such an awesome cleanser. It's so gentle on the skin, and smells like cucumbers. I've already repurchased.
TheFaceShop - Collagen Pomegranate Pack I used this as the final step in my skincare routine at night. I didn't find it did much for me, so I wouldn't repurchase it. I prefer skincare that is thicker and more rich feeling. Urban Decay - Chill (Cooling and Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray) This stuff was great for helping cake face, and when my skin was feeling especially dry. I didn't really find it prolonged my makeup time, but I wear makeup for about 12 hours a day, so nothing will help I think with that length of time. Anyway, I enjoyed it and may repurchase again.
Bath and Body Works - Foaming Hand Soap in Toasted Vanilla Chai You'll see these every month lol. I love these foaming hand soaps and have a large stash to use up. This smelled like cinnamon and vanilla, perfect for this cold weather.
Lush - Shower Gel in Rose Jam I enjoy the shower gels from Lush, I just wish they weren't so expensive. This scent was just okay, it was very floral (no duh, it's called ROSE jam) and I'm not a big fan of florals. I liked the shower gel, I just prefer it in different scents.
Bath and Body Works - Candles in Pistachio Ice Cream and Sugared Snickerdoodle These were both nice scents. I'd classify them as both bakery type scents. I didn't hate them, I wouldn't say I loved them either. I'd enjoy them again but I wouldn't necessarily rush out and repurchase them. Also, how can I use up the rest of the wax?! I find theres always a bunch of wax that doesn't get used up and it feels like such a waste to toss them.
Scentsy Wax Bars in Spiced Fruit Cider, Love You Berry Much, Sugar Bells, Very Peary Pumpkin These are all enjoyable scents. All fruity, but deeper. Perfect for Fall and Winter.
So this month I only managed to use up 18 products. I hope February will be better!
That being said, let's take a look at what I received for my February Boxycharm!
The theme of the month of February is Galaxy Glow.
This month we got 6 products.
Ofra Cosmetics - Pop Up Palette Mini and Blush Godet (Refill) ($19 + $12) Pop-Up Palette Mini provides a perfect home for any magnetic makeup godet. Items can be continually tailored and rearranged according to personal preference. The unique design is lightweight and travel friendly, yet securely holds the godets in place.
The blush godet offers strong pigment with a long lasting effect in a fabulous pressed powder blush.
I'm not even going to open these because I don't need them. I will be adding them a giveaway.
CoverFX - Shimmer Veil ($28) These multi-use shimmering creme colours are crease-proof enough for the boldest of eye looks and formulated with a weightless finish for a shimmering effect anywhere on the face. Suitable for all skin types.
This is very pretty but I can't see myself ever reaching for it. I will pass it on to someone who will love it more.
Vintage Cosmetics - Smokey Eye Pencil ($21) Jessica's richly pigmented smokey eye pencil delivers intense jet-black definition. Creating pencil-point precision or smudgy, saturated colour, the creamy-soft formula glides on lids without tugging or pulling.
I'm not a big fan of pencil liners, so I will also be passing this on.
Crown Pro - Trio Brush Set ($29.99) Use this 3pc Pro Brush Trio to contour your face to perfection! The small brush can be used to conceal imperfections and highlight under the eyes. The medium size brush can be used to sculpt the cheekbones and perimeter of the face. Finally, the large powder brush can be used to set everything in place.
I've heard crown brushes are nice, but I bought a brush set not long ago. So I will also be passing this set on as well. Pur - The complexion authority - X Faux Lips Plumping Lip Exfoliator With an instant boost of shea butter, raw sugar, and exfoliating beads, this 4-in-1 lip scrub pencil exfoliates, plumps, hydrates and soothes. Using the shea butter to soften lips, while the raw sugar and exfoliating beads are used to buff away dead surface cells, it moisturizes the lips for a softer, smoother, more plump lip!
This is the only item that I'm not going to pass on. It sounds interesting enough to keep.
I have to say I'm very disappointed with this box. Boxycharm has until May to keep me happy, or I will be cancelling my subscription.
*This post contains a referral link. All opinions are my own. I pay for this subscription with my own money*
Topbox is probably the most affordable subscription service that I have ever subscribed to. It's only $12 a month, which means in Ontario it only comes to $13.56 after taxes. Super affordable. Especially for those who aren't looking to spend too much, while getting to try new brands. They usually only send sample sized products, and a lot of skincare. There generally isn't a theme of the month either, but it's always a great surprise.
Each month we are able to pick a prive box, or a regular box. Usually I will post the prive choices we were given, but I've decided to stop taking screenshots of our options. A lot of them were getting repeated through the months.
I decided to choose a regular box for January, and this is what I received.
As always, I opted for the organza bag. It's nice to re-gift samples in, or just for other knick-knacks.
Wella Professionals - Oil Reflections Luminous Shampoo and Conditioner Light moisturizing shampoo leaves the hair deeply cleansed and luminous. 30-second smoothing conditioner that locks moisture in, leaving the hair luminous and smooth. Available at Wella salons across Canada, or Chatters.ca (50% off any oil reflections or other wella products until April 30th 2018 - use code: WELLA50)
I'm interested to see how these work. I'm hoping they add some moisture because my hair needs it! With all the lightening it, and it still being cold and second winter - my hair is dry!
TheFaceShop - Mask Lab Anti-Aging Foil Face Mask The dual-structured sheet, covered with a layer of powerful foil, prevents the anti-aging essence from evaporating and allows it to effectively absorb into skin to make it firmer.
I've never tried a dual layer sheet mask! This should be interesting! I love TheFaceShop sheet masks anyway. I'll definitely have to do a separate review on this one!
LARitzy Cosmetics - Eye Pencil A dramatic and bold eye pencil designed for a flawless application.
My least favourite item in this box. It's a shimmer white/silver eye pencil. I don't have use for this, so I will pass it on.
Smashbox - Be Legendary Liquid Metal in Crimson Chrome A liquid lip formula that glides on the full coverage of a lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in a single coat. Line your lips with precision tip and then fill in.
This colour is definitely something I would never pick for myself, but it's so pretty! It's red with a slight shimmer shift. I don't even know how to describe it. Chrome would be perfect to use! I can't see myself wearing this frequently, but I could see myself trying to wear it every so often. Maybe around the holidays for sure!

Another month has come and gone, and it's already the beginning of December. I can't believe we are so close to the end of 2018! This year feels like it went by so quickly! I don't have too many empties for November, so this will be short and sweet! Let's see what I used up for the month of November!
First up, makeup!
Essence - Make Me Brow I thought this was a dupe for Benefit Gimme Brow, and while the formula is quite similar/same shade.. the details are in the brush! The gimme brow is a little smaller, making it easier to use. This one is a little larger and makes a little more of a mess. For the price difference, I can deal with it. I liked it and I will have to repurchase once I get through some other brow products.
Benefit - Erase Paste I used this more as a colour corrector, but it wasn't very good. I used to really like this before I became more of a makeup enthusiast. I don't touch it anymore, its greasy, and messy. This isn't finished but I'm over it and it's old now.
Kat Von D - Tattoo Liner in Trooper I love this liner, and I have 2 back up's still. My only complaint is that they seem to dry up really quickly now. I may be open to trying some new brands when I get through the others, does anyone have any good suggestions? I prefer the brush tip vs felt tip. But I'm open to trying new ones!
Wander - Unlashed Mascara This was a nice mascara! The wand was more in a C shape, so it made it easier to get some volume in the lashes. It wasn't too wet of a formula either which I like. I really enjoyed this mascara! I have a ton more to get through before I even consider purchasing more.
NYC City Curls Mascara and Rimmel Max Bold Curls These were both unfortunately tosses. I've had them too long and they dried up before I could even use them.
TheFaceShop - Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam This was a gentle cleansing foam, but I preferred to use it in the summer. It does dry my skin out a little in winter. TheFaceShop always has great products for affordable prices. I wouldn't repurchase this based on my dry skin, but I'm sure oily skinned people would enjoy this for sure.
La Mer - Moisturizing Cream I bit the bullet and finally tried this. Way too expensive for the amount of product you get, and honestly, it reminds me of a slightly creamer Nivea Creme. The same scent also.. just the nivea breaks down a little more watery on the skin, and the La Mer stays thick and creamy. I liked it, but I would never be able to justify spending that much again on such a meh cream.
Caudalie - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum This didn't do much for my skin at all, and the sample seemed to last quite a while. I wouldn't repurchase this though because I didn't notice a difference in my skin.
Fresh - Seaberry Face Oil I love this face oil! It's lightweight but provides hydration/moisture. I love it mixed into face moisturizers when I feel like I need that extra boost.
Clinique - Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm I love this stuff. It's been in my empties before and I've already repurchased a back up!
Clean Apothecary - Brush Shampoo in Rose I received this in two of the Beautylish Lucky Bags that I had purchased in previous years. I liked that it was a soap block but that's about as far as my liking this product goes. The rose scent is very strong, and the soap feels as if it never really washes out of your brushes. It ruined a brush of mine and the soap just lingers. Not a fan, and now I'm not sure what I will do with the other one.
The Body Shop - Body Butter in Spiced Apple This is such a perfect scent for fall/winter. It has that comforting cinnamon scent, but also slightly of apples. The Body Shop body butter is always a beautiful formula, and this was perfect for this time of year.
Lush - Daddy-O Purple Shampoo I was on the hunt to find the perfect purple shampoo for my blonde hair, and while I liked this, it's not my favourite. I did find it a little more drying than other purple shampoo's and didn't quite tone my hair as much as I would have liked. So I wouldn't repurchase it.
Bath and Body Works - Foaming Hand Soap in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and Iced Guava Green Tea As you know, I love this foaming hand soap. I always pick them up when they are on sale. I'm not sure I would repurchase the Iced Guava scent again, but I really enjoyed the sweet cinnamon pumpkin for fall. I already have backups!
Scentsy Wax Bars in St. Nickerdoodle and Cranberry & Tinsel I really enjoyed both of these scents, and they were a part of a limited collection released last year. St. Nickerdoole was like a sugar cookie, but with cinnamon and slight apple scented. Cranberry & Tinsel was the perfect match of Cranberry and pine. I'm not a fan of pine scents at all but this is just so perfect for this time of year. It smells just perfect with the lights off, and the Christmas tree on.
Bath and Body Works Candles in Toasted Vanilla Chai, Spiced Gingerbread Swirl and Pumpkin Donut Shop All of these smelled great. I think the Pumpkin Donut Shop was my favourite from the three. All perfect for winter/fall, and cozy scents. I already have a few backups of other scents that I prefer more, so I won't be repurchasing these.
So for November, I only used up 21 products. Not nearly as much as the 30 I try and aim for every month. I will have to make December really good since it's the end of the year. I really need to try and shop my stash more often instead of rushing and purchasing the newest products. That will be my goal for January!
I know I have been missing on here for awhile. I have to say, it's hard working full time and commuting. The thought of being on a computer after being on one all day, is kind of dreadful if I must be honest. Don't get me wrong, I love my blog, I miss blogging so often and having a set routine, but it's just so hard for me now. I'm going to try and improve this. Anyway, if you've been following my blog for awhile, then you would know that empties are my favourite kind of post. I love reading or watching other's empties posts, and writing my own. So without going on much longer, let's see what I used up for the months of August, September, and October 2018.
When it came time for me to post my empties in August, I didn't feel like I had enough. September rolled around and I had accumulated a little more, but still didn't feel like enough. So I held on for the end of October, and this is everything I have used up in the past 3 months.
The Face Shop - Real Nature - Blueberry Sheet Mask I love these masks, they are affordable and always make my skin feel great. I have a huge stash that I need to work through!
The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid I wish I liked this more but it didn't seem to do much for me at all. Any time I tried to use it, no matter how little I did use, it would make all the products on my face ball up and come off. I wish I had tried it before I purchased 2 at the same time, so I have another bottle to use up. Not a fan though, wouldn't repurchase.
Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair I received a couple of these little serums in a Topbox. I liked them, they made my skin feel nice, but I don't think I noticed anything improved with my skin. I wouldn't repurchase based on that.
Belif - The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb I LOVE THIS MOISTURIZER! It works well at night, works well during the day. Mixes nicely with other products. I love it. I have a full size ready to go.
Fresh - Sugar Lip Caramel I'm so proud of myself for finishing a lip balm. It smelled great, felt great, and I couldn't wait to use it. I repurchased a full size, but in Coconut.
Caudalie - Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet Another item that I didn't feel like it did anything for me. Skipping on a full size.
Clinique - Moisture Surge Intense - Skin Fortifying Hydrator I really loved this moisturizer under my makeup in the summer. It's not nearly hydrating enough for me for the winter, so this was a perfect summer day time moisturizer for me. I will repurchase in the spring.
Benefit - Fake Up Concealer This is old and I never reach for it anymore, so it's a toss. I've used up pretty much the whole sample though. I used to like it, but I have other concealers I prefer more. Wouldn't repurchase.
Estee Lauder - Sumptuous Knockout Mascara I actually really loved this mascara. It fanned out my lashes beautifully without being clumpy or too wet. I'd consider repurchasing, maybe once I finish the hoard lol.
Juicy Couture - Viva La Juicy Perfume Sample Loved this perfume, may consider purchasing a full size. I'll see what kind of promos come out for Christmas. Not a huge rush though!
Younique - Moodstruck Epic Mascara Ugh. Waste of money. Don't even bother.
Marc Anthony - Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Hair Spray (2) I liked this hair spray. Strong hold. Too much does make crispy hair though, so be careful. I don't think I would repurchase though just because I'm not picky about hair spray.
Amika - Bust Your Brass (Cool Blonde) Shampoo I wanted to love this shampoo - and while it did work, it didn't give me that hard fight like some other purple shampoos give me. I would consider purchasing it again as a back up, but not my favourite.
IGK - Rich Kid - Coconut Oil Gel I really liked this gel. It has such a weird consistency. But it managed to hold my curls without making them crunchy. I purchased a full size.
Verb - Sea Texture Cream I really liked this stuff! But I'm not sure it does anything different then a sea salt spray. Haven't repurchased, I probably won't either.
Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal and Tea Tree Scalp Treatment This soothes an itchy scalp! I got quite a few uses out of this stuff, and it always brings relief to a dry/itchy scalp. I've already repurchased another!
Schwarzkopf - Blonde Me Tone Enhancing Bonding Shampoo This was useless, it did absolutely nothing for my hair. The Amika at least has tons of pigmentation, this looked like it did, but it did nothing. Pass. Wouldn't repurchase.
L'Oreal - Total Repair Replenishing Mask This was a decent mask, it always left my hair feeling soft. It gets the job done. I prefer my Amika hair mask though so I wouldn't repurchase this.
Bath and Body Works - Foaming Hand Soaps Sun Please, Cucumber Melon, Iced Guava Green Tea, and Black Cherry Merlot.
As seen in previous empties posts, I love the foaming hand soaps from Bath and Body Works. All of these were great scents. Layers by Scentsy - Shower Gel in Sugar Cookie This is so old, so I wanted to use it up. It smelled like sugar cookies, but not as fresh as it used to. They have discontinued this line, but I have already repurchased other scents in the new line.
Bath and Body Works Scented Candle in Strawberry Sorbet Charmed Aroma Scented Candle in Cotton Candy
Both of these smelled amazing. I wish the cotton candy scent was stronger. Based on quality though, I prefer the Bath and Body Works candles.. and you can get them for a better deal.
Bath and Body Works Scented Candles in Raspberry Peach Macaroon, Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow and Frosted Cranberry
Again - all great scents. My favourite from these three was the frosted cranberry. So perfect for fall. I have tons of candles as back ups, so I won't need to purchase new ones for awhile!
Scentsy - Wax Bars Scents: Apple Press, Sangria, Blueberry Rush, Wild Black Cherry and Midnight in Curacao
As you may (or may not) know, I've been a Scentsy consultant for a few years.. so I have quite a collection of wax bars, and I'm trying to use them up!
These were all enjoyable scents. Apple press is perfect for fall, such a clean apple scent. Wild Black Cherry is SO strong and I really enjoyed it. I will be picking up another bar of Blueberry Rush in January when it comes back. The other two (Sangria and Midnight in Curacao) satisfied my fruit scent needs, but I'm not sure I would repurchase them if they were to come back.
In total, I used up 35 items. Which isn't that much for 3 months. I hope I can get back on track and aim for 30 products for November!
