I haven’t done a weekend post in a couple of weeks, so if you do not follow me on Instagram, here is a quick re-cap. Two weeks ago we went to Las Vegas, I have been working a ton, last weekend was my sisters wedding shower (she gets married June 30th), Wade was sick (then we all got sick), I celebrated my family (take out Mi Cocina & watching golf in our jammies made for the perfect day) and did I mention that work has been crazy?
This weekend is yet another jam packed weekend. I am so excited for today (Friday) because baby Ralph and I start music class with a group of girls and their littles. It will be really fun to have a summer activity and to meet more girls (and babies) that are Ralph’s age! Tonight is dinner with my mom and sister at our new favorite pizza place in Highland Park Village.
Tomorrow morning will consist of waking up at the crack of dawn to watch the Royal Wedding (DUHHHHH. Who else is watching???), a work out with our trainer and then hopefully get to take Ralph to the park if the weather isn’t too hot (how is it already this hot in Dallas). Sunday will be spent relaxing. One of my favorite things I look forward to every single Sunday morning is Ralph’s morning nap. Currently, he sleeps from 9:30-11:30 and on Sunday I put him in our bed for that first nap and it is my favorite thing because it is the best snuggle session.
Well, that is the semi-short version of our weekend. I hope you all have the most wonderful weekend. xx
If you look in my closet you will find an entire section of just button downs. Maybe I am overly obsessed or maybe I have figured out the key to dressing stress free? All of my button downs are by the same brand and I would have it no other way (I mean they are the best). Not only is it pretty much the most comfortable thing to run around in all day but somehow this look never fails me.
The next time you are standing in your closet filled with clothes and having nothing to wear, just opt for a button down, jeans and sandals.
Where does the time go? This is a question that I ask myself multiple times a day. Pre-Ralph, I used to think that time flew by. Now that Ralph is here, I feel like I am blinking and it is gone. Maybe it is because you count everything with a baby (weeks, moments, weight, growth) or just because everything you do with the baby is a blast? Who knows.
Last Friday, baby Ralph turned 10 months old (you can read his 10 month update here) and when I woke him up Friday morning for his first bottle I was somewhat sad. Sad that my new little baby is not really a baby anymore and also really taken back by how quickly this is all going. As I gave him his bottle, I just kept thinking that I cannot believe that in two short months we will be celebrating this little boys first birthday. A one year old??? I cannot even believe it because it really does seem like just yesterday that I wobbling around counting down the minutes until his arrival.
It’s weird say this but even though I am around Ralph all day every day, it is still not enough time. I feel like I need more snuggles and more baby kisses. Being a (new) parent makes you greedy with time (or at least me). I want to spend as much time with my sweet little boy as I can and to be totally honest, it is really hard to share him because I always want to be around and do not want to miss anything.
I have yet to not travel with Ralph but I know at some point, I am going to have to rip the bandaid off and go for it. They say it is always more difficult for the mother to leave the baby for the first time. I agree with that because I cannot even fathom leaving him yet! I was talking to my grandmother about this last weekend and she was telling me how hard it is to leave the first baby but she said once you get on that plane you will ask yourself why you haven’t done it sooner! I do believe her but I’m still waiting to leave him because I really don’t want to miss anything because he changes all the time!
To me, time is such a funny thing. Somethings seem to go slowly but others (specifically Ralph related) go so fast. I know time flies when you are having fun but does it ever slow down with your kids? Am I going to wake up one day and Ralph is grown and moving out?
My apologies for the somewhat dreary and verbose post. I just thought a lot about time this weekend and how much I appreciate all of the time I am able to spend with my baby. I am grateful to have a job that I can be at home and see him all the time but I sure do wish time would slow down!
Another month has come and gone and sweet baby Ralph is now 10 months old (well, yesterday). Since my 9 month update, Ralph is not only on the move but he is pulling up on everything! He loves to grab everything from my leg to the coffee table and stand. He even has a few free moments where he is standing on his own! Ralph is now pushing his little walker and taking a few steps. I have a BIG feeling that he will be walking the the near future but I guess time will tell.
He is still eating a ton (he’s a big baby), sleeping like a champion and giggling non stop. He now has 5 teeth, waves ‘bye bye’ and just last week he started making the “MMM” noise…maybe he will be saying ‘MAMA’ soon (at least I hope).
Bath time is still his favorite time of the day and he also loves to play ‘chase’ (the crawling version). This sweet baby is as good as it gets and I am thankful to spend my first ever Mother’s day snuggling all day long. Until next month….
This Sunday will be my very first Mother’s Day and to be completely honest, I cannot believe it. If you would have asked me two Mother’s Days ago (last year I was pregnant) that if in 2018 I would have a (now) 10 month old baby and be celebrating my very first Mother’s Day, I would have called you crazy.
Over the years brunch always seems like the ‘thing’ to do on Mother’s Day, but this year I am going to #banthebrunch and do what is for me a dream Mother’s Day: spend the day in bed with my little family. To some it might sound silly to want to just lay in bed all day and snuggle with your husband and (new) baby but to me it sounds like the perfect day, especially since this last week we got a new Allswell mattress and new Allswell bedding. Of course baby (and husband) cuddles are the best thing in the entire world but while relaxing on what I now refer to as a cloud (our Allswell mattress and bedding) it is that much better.
You guys, I am not kidding when I say that our new Allswell mattress and bedding is the best thing we have ever owned. As someone who has always been curious about ordering a mattress online (I can’t be the only one), I was unsure when our Allswell mattress arrived in a box and encased in an airtight bag. Watching our Allswell mattress come to life was literally the coolest thing, but it didn’t stop there because the moment I laid down on our Allswell mattress I knew I was in love. We have now been sleeping on our Supreme Queen Luxe Classic mattress for about a week now and we are forever customers. I have never in my entire life felt the way I feel when I slide into bed. I didn’t even bat an eye when our old mattress was being hauled away because I am so happy about this addition to our master bedroom.
I am so excited to spend my very first Mother’s Day getting all the snuggles from my little baby Ralph, as I know he is going to grow up in a blink of an eye and my days of laying in bed and getting all the baby kisses in the world are numbered.
Happiest Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. I really do hope you get to #Banthebrunch and enjoy your day relaxing in bed!
Get the Look
This post was brought to you by Allswell. All opinions are my own.
Until about a month ago, I would have never described myself as a ‘blazer’ person. Ever since I added this blazer to my closet, I cannot stop buying them (I have added 3 since then). Funny how that works right? You never wear something and then you give it a go and don’t stop wearing it?? Well, that’s how blazers have been for me lately.
I love having blazers, like this gingham one, to just throw on with the simplest looks. In my opinion a blazer can elevate any look and make it look that much more polished. I particularly love this gingham blazer because it looks so spring/summer. The gingham print and the blue and white combo make this blazer look so fresh.
Happy weekend friends. I am sure you are very confused as to why I am doing my normal weekend post on a Thursday. Well that is because today my weekend starts. This afternoon we are headed out of town and I could not be more excited. It’s going to be quite a weekend, so make sure to follow along on Instagram (@DallasWardrobe).
Before I sign off until Monday, a quick summary of the week would be that everything was wonderful except for Tuesday. I have NO idea why but everything was annoying me on Tuesday. Apparently I was not the only one with frustrations because my littlest sister said the same thing happened to her. Who even knows but I am for sure glad that Tuesday has come and gone.
Last night baby Ralph and I went to celebrate our sweet friend Gray with the launch of his new children’s book, Be Our Guest. His new children’s book (you can get it here) is absolutely adorable and I am so proud of all that he has accomplished since we became friends in 2012! I hope you all have the most wonderful weekend. I know I will because my weekend has already started! xx
I am such a sucker for a striped top. As of late every time I see a striped top in the stores, I have a really hard time passing one up. I actually got this striped top in early April and it has been one that I have worn quite a bit. Sadly, I did pay full price for it (it is so cute) but lucky for you all this striped top is currently it is on sale!
I love this striped top because it is great to wear with all sorts of denim (dark, light and even white). It also would be great paired with shorts when the temperatures really start to warm up.
