Happy THREE DAY WEEKEND!! It’s been a juggle getting back into the workweek after a cruise vacation so I’m especially glad that we have a bit of extra time to recuperate and get the house back in order this weekend! And in rare form, Adrian and I actually have a parents’ night out potluck party tonight! Not gonna lie, kinda excited for some adults-only time. In the meantime, I’ve rounded up the best of the Memorial Day weekend sales below and will continue updating as I find more deals!

We spent last weekend cruising with Royal Caribbean and spent a day enjoying their newly-opened Perfect Day at CocoCay island escape! CocoCay is a small island in the Bahamas exclusive to Royal Caribbean guests, and in the past year, it has gone through an extensive $250 million transformation that boasts some of the most incredible attractions! With their doors opening just this May, we were so lucky one of the first guests to experience the grand debut of Perfect Day at CocoCay. Let me just say, this is one vacation spot you NEED to have on your bucket list!!

There are two sides to the 125-acre Perfect Day at CocoCay escape, one for “chills” and one for “thrills,” and it truly redefines the way the notion of beach vacation! Filled with superlatives, Perfect Day at CocoCay boasts the tallest water slide in North America (135 feet!), the largest Caribbean freshwater pool, the highest vantage point in the Bahamas (at 450 feet), the first overwater cabanas in the Bahamas, and the largest freshwater swimming pool in the Caribbean!
Perfect Day at CocoCay: Thrill Waterpark
The heart of Perfect Day at CocoCay is Thrill Waterpark, with two impressive towers that offer 13 different waterslides (the most out of any water park in the Caribbean actually!) as well as the Caribbean’s largest wave pool. Our family, especially me and my 6-year old son Dylan, was all about the adrenaline so needless to say we were going non-stop from ride to ride during our time on the island!

The Up, Up and Away helium air balloon ride was definitely a highlight of our trip and one that I highly, highly recommend! Go early as late-afternoon winds may sometimes result in the balloon being grounded. It was an incredible experience to float up to 450 feet above Perfect Day at CocoCay and see the picture-perfect blue waters along with a 360-degree panoramic shot of the island. The ride is smooth and the balloon stays firmly tethered to the ground by cable the entire time — it’s a relatively quick 7-minute ride but it’s the perfect duration for letting you soak in the views and snap a few selfies!
left to right: The Twister, The Slingshot, Splash Speedway
Splash Summit was where we spent the most time, and it’s the perfect spot if you want to enjoy rides together! I also highly recommend it if you’re not quite bold enough to venture over to Daredevil’s Tower but still want the thrill of a few high-speed waterslides. You’ll find 6 multi-rider slides including:
Splash Speedway: these 4-lane racing slides had the coolest rainbow lights inside (see my vlog video at the bottom for a peek!). I actually really liked having a mat to slide down these tubes as I’ve gone down similar in the past just laying on my back — with a mat I didn’t have to worry about scratching up my back and felt like I had so much more control! Dylan and I had so much fun racing each other on these slides time and time again!
The Slingshot: get into a float that seats up to four and feel nearly weightless for a brief second in this ride that goes nearly vertical! I was a bit intimidated by this ride initially but it’s actually so much fun and not nearly as crazy as it looks! Dylan chose this ride as his fave!
The Twister: this one is a two-person raft and is probably the tamest of the rides in Splash Summit. Still super fun, this ride has all the turns as it winds you down to the main pool.
If you have younger kids who aren’t quite ready for the big water slides yet, you better bet that you’ll be spending lots of time at Splashaway Bay! It’s completely free and loaded with fountains, sprinklers, and geysers, plus two massive drench buckets and five water slides. For the parents, the good thing is that Captain Jack’s is right next door so you can hop on over to grab yourself a drink while the kids play!
Located right next to Splash Summit is Adventure Pool and here you’ll find mini obstacle courses with floating lily pads, a rock-climbing wall, and two swing ropes to launch yourself into the water! Dylan LOVED the lily pad obstacle course, and I’ll admit it was a fun challenge even for me and Adrian as we maneuvered and balanced our way through!
Captain Jill’s Galleon is another haven for the kids and this one is perfect if your little one prefers not to get too wet. Climb through a shipwrecked pirate ship decked out with three dry slides, 16 water cannons, a splash pad, and climbing net!
Perfect Day at CocoCay: Chill Island
On the other side of Perfect Day at CocoCay is Chill Island, and if you’re more of the lounge / relax kind of beach vacationer, this place is for you! Snag one of the 20 beach-side cabanas and enjoy the crystal-clear tropical waters alongside white powder-like sand. South Beach and Coco Beach Club will also be opening up in December 2019 to offer volleyball, paddle boarding, and the first overwater cabanas in The Bahamas!
Hello and happy Monday! This past weekend has been absolutely incredible and I’m currently writing from a boat as I’m enjoying the last few hours of our cruise ship vacation with Royal Caribbean! Stay tuned for a full post but in the meantime, head over to my Instagram for a few photos and behind-the-scenes clips in my Instagram stories.
In the meantime, I wanted to share this gorgeous maxi dress that is absolutely perfect if you’re looking for something summery with that vacation/beach vibe. The fit is like a dream with the criss-cross wrap style front and the flowy chiffon just makes you feel like you’re a princess! There are cutouts on the side that show just enough without making you feel exposed, and I am obsessed with the lace-up ties on the back!
It’s also not often that I find a maxi dress that doesn’t need hemming but paired with some tall wedges, this dress was actually perfect right off the rack! There is petite sizing available as well although I didn’t see it online when I ordered (I’m wearing XS and am 5′ tall). I took this outfit with me on my last trip to Maui and not only is it great for concealing food babies but it’s also a dress that you can dress up or down!
Almost every summer I pick up a new maxi dress from Express (see here, here, and here!) but I have to say that this blue floral print one may just be a new favorite! Linking up a few other options below – use my code 8482 for 15% off:
Hello and happy Friday!! I’m actually writing from Miami International Airport right now as I’m waiting on my luggage and getting ready to head out onto a cruise vacation! The whole family is here and we couldn’t be more excited for a fun-filled weekend as we cruise out to Nassau, Bahamas (follow along on my Instagram for real-time updates!). I’m excited to be partnering up with JCPenney today to share some cute outfits just in time for Memorial Day weekend — which I can’t believe is in 10 days!
I couldn’t even believe that JCPenney had a whole line dedicated to Mommy + Me matching outfits! The Peyton & Parker collection has so many absolutely adorable options if you love twinning with your littles and they even have matching accessoriesn(how cute are these pink crossbody purses)! Styles are selling out extremely fast but there are lots of different options with prints and colors that you can even mix it up a bit. I love this floral ruffle maxi dress in the coral color and while they didn’t have the exact same color in kids options, I actually really love it with Mei wearing the same style but in yellow!
SHOP PEYTON & PARKER MOMMY + ME OUTFITS
For my maxi dress, I actually found the length to be perfect even for my petite 5′ tall height and a pair of heels (which can definitely be a struggle sometimes!). The straps are adjustable and the elastic waist is perfect for giving it some shape without making it too constricting or uncomfortable. The fabric is lightweight, flowy, and perfect for a Memorial Day weekend spent outdoors!
With the girls/toddler sizing, Mei’s size wasn’t available so she’s actually wearing 2 sizes smaller than her usual and is rocking the maxi style as more of a midi. Personally, I actually think it still looks just as cute and isn’t even noticeable! So in case exact sizing isn’t available, maybe consider going down a size or two!
And of course, I didn’t want to leave out my boy when it came to new outfits! I picked up several new comfy tees for Dylan and while this striped shirt was my personal favorite, he actually really loves this “Dill Pickle” tee as a few of his close friends actually call him “Dill!”
I’m so glad to be back with my babes for another edition of our Style For Every Body monthly series! It’s been so fun to shoot and put together these posts (check out our April post featuring jeans!) , and I love seeing the outfits each of us put together featuring our favorite items that flatter our body type. Summer is around the corner so it’s the perfect time to feature swimsuits!
I’ll be the first to say that rocking a swimmie, whether it’s a bikini or one-piece, needs a side of confidence to go with it and these babes have got it! I just love that we live in a time when we can all be proud of our bodies, regardless of our size. Be sure to head over to each of their pages / social feeds and give them some love!
J.Crew has always been one of my favorite places to shop for swimsuits as I just love their styles that are the perfect mix of trendy and classic (don’t miss their 40% off swimwear sale going on right now too!). This laser-cut eyelet bikini instantly caught my eye and I just love the darker navy cutouts against the blush. Tops and bottoms can be mixed/matched which is ideal as I’m generally bigger on top and smaller on bottom. Extended sizing also means that options go down to an XXS, perfect if you’re on the more petite side!
I can’t get enough of the high-waisted style and personally, I love the way the proportions look regardless of whether you need the extra tummy coverage. Similarly, the longline style of the bra provides extra support and just a bit of extra “oomph” too if you know what I mean!
And of course, don’t forget the accessories even when it comes to your poolside outfits! I love a good straw hat (I actually forgot to bring mine and borrowed this one from Meredith!) and these platform slides are so comfortable (love the espadrille style too for summer plus they’re on sale!). The clear bag trend is also hitting hard right now and found this tote from Amazon!
Hello and happy Monday! We had such a busy weekend and it’s looking like an action-packed week ahead too with a few fun blog events happening after work this week (tune into my Instagram stories for some behind-the-scenes snaps!). LOFT is having a flash 50% off sale on select picks with 40% off the remaining store (code BIGNEWS) — happening now through Tuesday 3am ET.
I wanted to share this quick outfit above as my olive drapey jacket is part of the 50% off picks and such a great layering piece for spring! I love the wider lapels and the material is a suede-like fabric that looks luxe (definitely much more expensive than it actually is!). I prefer my jackets to look a bit more fitted so I sized down to an XXS (am typically a XSP) and found the fit to be perfect all around. Be sure to take advantage of the 50% of deal to snag this jacket! Rounding up more 50% off sale picks below:
Hello and happy Mother’s Day! It’s hard to believe that I’m celebrating my 7th year as a mom and without a doubt, it’s been the hardest yet most rewarding undertaking of my life. It’s a job that doesn’t come with a manual, and yet even the tips that well-meaning friends and acquaintances give may not work as each child and situation is definitively unique. Today I wanted to celebrate all the moms out there, as it’s a role where on-the-job learning is taken to the next level. We strive to teach our children every day and yet oftentimes we are the ones learning the biggest lessons. Below are my top 5 lessons that I’ve learned through my years of motherhood!
1. You can’t plan everything
This is really a lesson that starts at pregnancy. In the past, my Type-A personality always wanted to be prepared 10 steps ahead but the first lesson I learned is that you can’t control everything when it comes to being a mom. From getting pregnant to knowing when you’re going to deliver, there’s so much that is out of your control. As a mom, I’ve learned to let go — to place more trust in my body and in my kids, and even to embrace the uncertainty that that brings!
2. Be prepared to feel like a hot mess
Before kids, I was that person who rarely left the house without makeup on, hair done, and a cute outfit on. Then, after just a couple weeks into being a new mom with Dylan, I realized that if I held myself up to that same standard, I may never get out of the house! Especially in the early years, there were all too many moments where I had gone 2+ days without showering, was wearing clothes with leaked breastmilk on them, and couldn’t even remember the last time that I had actually done my hair. Even now as my kids are older, I’m juggling multiple school/work/ extracurricular schedules, and there are days when it can be overwhelming.
The thing though is that this is the reality of motherhood sometimes — sometimes it does mean you feel like a hot mess and maybe that your life is complete chaos. I’ve become a lot less hard on myself and remember that at the end of the day, as long as my kids are happy, healthy, and well loved, I’ve done a good job.
3. Don’t forget about your marriage
If you’re not careful, kids can easily consume all your attention and this is a mistake that I made early on. Don’t forget to make your marriage a priority and invest in making it a solid foundation from which your family is built upon. It’s easy to not have time by the end of the day and the result is that the parents end up as just two ships passing in the night. Carve out time to reconnect and realize that it will likely look different than how it was before kids. Having kids will oftentimes force a marriage to evolve, but use it as an opportunity for growth and you’ll both come out stronger for it!
4. Everything is a phase, a season, and will pass
I had countless weeks early on as a mom where I felt like I had lost my old life. There was a bit of resentment and frustration even though I did whole-heartedly enjoy the new life of motherhood I was given. The challenges of breastfeeding, night waking, and just figuring out how to take care of this new person were a lot of changes all at once., and part of me thought that this would just become a new normal. Now I’ve realized that while some of that is true, even the toughest moments in motherhood are just a phase. This is a lesson that I’ve even applied to my life outside of kids as sometimes I’m just in a season where I have more challenges than usual. But give it time and even though it can seem like forever while I’m in this season of difficulty, it’ll pass before I know it.
5. Enjoy the moment
And lastly, find beauty in the present. It may be messy, chaotic, and a look nothing like what you imagined but seek out the beauty of the moment. Every age of being a kid has its ups and downs, but I’m a firm believer that the grass is greener where you water it. Cherish the moments of motherhood where you’re at and most importantly, don’t let someone else’s Instagram-perfect picture of motherhood take away the joy you have in your own journey.
Hello and happy Friday!! It’s been quite the week but I’m closing it out with a fun Target try-on post — and just in time to take advantage of a 20% sale on all their dresses! I have 2 that I picked up recently that are absolutely precious and would be perfect going into Mother’s Day weekend! Target does offer in-store pickup so you can still shop online / avoid the lines and still get it in time for the weekend.
As a note, please avoid purchasing through the Target app as that nulls out the credit that I would get through my tracking links and I do spend quite a bit of time putting these posts together. Thank you so much for shopping through my links and be sure to check out my Instagram stories for video try-ons as well!
Wore this dress out last weekend and it was definitely one that got so many compliments! I love the bold statement polka-dot print and the neutral colors make it a great option for so many occasions (fancy or not!). The skirt has a flattering curved hem and I love the cinched bow tie waist as well!
Wore this dress to work and it’s a great piece that provides lots of coverage yet is still office appropriate. Love the pops of color with the orange flowers and the bell sleeves are such a fun accent detail!
And finally, a cute blazer and shorts set that would be so fun if you work in a more casual office environment or even have casual Fridays where you can sport something like this! Love the neutral stripes and the oversized boyfriend style blazer gives it that relaxed yet still put-together vibe!
Let me know what your fave outfit is from above and if you’ve scored any recent Target finds! More Target try-on posts are also available here.
Hello friends! May is flying by and I can’t believe Mother’s Day is this weekend already. No plans yet but I am thinking about doing a little mommy/daughter day date with Mei — maybe a trip to get our nails done and followed by a facial (I just learned that Facehaus has a strawberry facial just for kids that’s supposed to be really good!).
Meanwhile, I couldn’t be more excited to share a mommy and me twinning outfit look just in time for Mother’s Day and all the events that happen this time of year. I’m a huge fan of LOFT and after getting a peek at their LOFT Littles collection launch, it was hard to stop myself from buying the entire lineup! This navy polka-dot swing dress was definitely one that I couldn’t pass up and I just love how the pieces are beautiful on their own but oh-so-cute when worn as a twinning pair.
LOFT just kicked off their famous 40% off promotion today (use code LOVEMOM) and it runs just through Mother’s Day this Sunday. The LOFT Littles collection is included and it’s a great time to pick up a fun outfit for your minis!
A quick note when it comes to sizing: I would say that this dress runs a bit big while the LOFT Littles dress runs a bit small. I’m wearing an XS (I’m usually an XSP) and felt that the dress was just a touch on the billowy side. Mei typically wears a size 3 (sometimes 4) and I actually felt that this dress was just a bit short on her. So, size down when for the adult option and size down for the LOFT Littles, lol!
