Mega-producer Ryan Murphy is known for working with the same troupe of actors and his upcoming Netflix series Ratched will be no exception, as The Assassination of Gianni Versace stars Finn Wittrock and Jon Jon Briones will join Sarah Paulson on the show, multiple sources have told Collider. Ratched effectively serves as a prequel to the Oscar-winning 1975 drama One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, in which Louise Fletcher played the infamous nurse tormenting poor Jack Nicholson. The Netflix series will begin in 1947 and track Nurse Ratched’s terrifying progression through the mental health care system. …

In the wake of the trailer for the franchise-capping Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has started looking far beyond Thanos' snap heard 'round the universe. First, some footage of a very much alive Peter Paker popped up in the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer that debuted in Brazil, and now THR reports that the comic book movie giant is finalizing a deal for a Doctor Strange sequel. Scott Derrickson will return as director after helming and co-writing the first Strange film in 2016, with a search for a new writer set to kick off soon. Benedict Cumberbatch will reportedly …

Director Elizabeth Banks announced that her Charlie's Angels reboot has wrapped filming with a behind-the-scenes photo showcasing the new trio of ass-kickers: Kristen Stewart (Personal Shopper), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers), and Ella Balinska (A Modern Tale). Banks also stars as the reboot's Bosley along with Patrick Stewart who will be playing another Bosley, except balder. (Presumably.) The revamp of the 2000 film—which itself was based on a 1970s TV series—comes from a script by Banks and Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider's Web). Banks' take on the story will be a …

I always found it fascinating how often the Deadpool movies uses its main character's meta-ness as a defense mechanism against its own issues. When a Deadpool script opts for lazy writing, Ryan Reynolds can look at the camera and say, "that's lazy writing," and the issued is winked away. If a scene uses too much CGI, there's Deadpool crackin' wise about there being too much CGI. And if the writers go for a notoriously sketchy comic book trope in their storytelling—like, say, fridging a main female character—the movie is right there with a funny …

The year is coming to a close and Best TV of 2018 lists are breathlessly being composed, a process made infinitely harder by the fact it's both easier and more satisfying to just re-watch The Office. At least there's good news on that front [h/t Vulture]: Cozi TV, an NBCUniversal-owned network that you most likely can watch for free via antenna, will begin airing Office episodes weeknights at 10 pm beginning January 1, 2019. As you begin yet another descent into Scranton, Pennsylvania, do remember that if "The Injury" isn't your favorite episode, it'…

I say this with extreme cautious optimism ... this True Detective Season 3 trailer is giving me serious Season 1 vibes. And since I absolutely loved and was haunted by Season 1 for a very long time (especially during that Season 2 mess), this is a good thing. The new season cribs a lot from that first , including bringing the show back to just a story of two detectives following a crime out in the gothic southern boondocks. Instead of Louisiana we have the Ozarks, but also like Season 1, the latest story will be one that travels through various time …

A screenplay is a weird, ever-changing thing, but in its earliest stages is often filled with the writer's wildest, most fantastical ideas dreamt up with no thoughts given to budget restrictions, scenes that usually get struck from the finished product for being too complex, too ambitious, too time-consuming, or simply too expensive. I mention this only because I just experienced Aquaman, quite possibly the first major release film I've ever seen that felt like not a single idea from the conception phase was vetoed for being too insane or over-the-top. Yes, an octopus will …
