This unpredictable weather leaves us pretty bemused as to what to take with for that long awaited break. As the Easter weekend approaches, here are some ideas for your planned trip away with friends, family or your other half, as well as how to pack efficiently and make the most out of your space.
Make sure you pack both practically and lightly ensuring you have everything you need.
If possible take a ‘carry on’ case, I personally don’t find it that easy as I like choice, however the clever travellers amongst you will pack a small wheely case and will be on your way to your hotel before I’ve even left the airport!
If you’re a ‘carry on gal’ in order to save space, rolling clothes is a good way to go. It will prevent the clothes from creasing (if rolled neatly), so select carefully from your capsule wardrobe!
FRIDAY DAY (TRAVELLING):
Start with a light weight Mac that can be easily packed away when the sun comes out, or pulled out for that unexpected downfall. A hood is advisable and think about wearing it over sized so you can fit a jacket underneath. I always travel with a cosy scarf for that annoying air-conditioning or evening chilly spells.
This outfit is three in one; Practical, Comfortable and Fashionable. Travelling in a jersey fabric trouser is key to starting your trip void of creases and by adding this fresh, baby pink roll neck jumper gives a soft gentle, on trend colour and shape for this spring.
Wear a short sleeve white t-shirt under the sweater so you have a choice of t-shirt or sweater for when you arrive, weather depending.
After checking into your hotel or airbnb and are planning to go straight out for the day and if the jersey pants are too light, then keep a pair of light wash jeans at the top of your case to complete your look.
For your first evening out let’s add a little glamour!
Heels and a mink coloured jersey (easy for packing) skirt are perfect, nude/camel/pink is everywhere this Spring. Adding a heel will smarten the outfit and also get an instant sexy, sophisticated look. However the length of walk and terrain to the resturant may suggest a more casual ankle boot, giving comfort and coolness. Adding a classic black Sandro bag keeps the evening feel and don’t forget accessories, they always take you to the next level.
You now have two choices of bag with you, the one you travelled with, which has clever straps that changes into a back pack, or the one you wore for the evening. And with a choice of a cross body strap, it’s perfect for day too.
A denim jumpsuit is bang on trend and looks super cool with trainers or heeled boots. You can pair this with the trainers you travelled in or the boot option. Add the suede jacket and you’re good to go. Don’t forget your Mac and sun glasses !
OUTFIT 4 –
Prints and embroidery are both big this Spring, so why not wear this gorgeous green polka dot midi dress, worn with the court shoes as before. Open out the scarf, making the scarf double width, so you have a shawl.
OUTFIT 5 –
A day site seeing or relaxing over a long lunch in jeans and a cool sweatshirt gives it a real Sunday feel. Wear this beautiful casual shirt under the sweat and you’ve got layers for warmth or coolness. Again you have all the componants to make this a fab outfit and all in your ‘carry on’! Just change your shoes to trainers grab the scarf and your ready for your flight home.

We’ve previously discussed here on the Coathanger blog all about female body shapes and how to make the most out of your figure. In today’s article we will be discussing all the different male body shapes out there and how to dress yours up to look powerful, stylish and sexy.
We all come in different shapes and sizes; it’s all about embracing your body and owning what you’ve got! Whether you have broad shoulders and a small waist or are larger in your centre with slimmer arms and legs, you can enhance or disguise your proportions with a few easy tweaks to your outfits.
The Inverted Triangle
If you have broad shoulders and chest compared to your slimmer waist and hips then your body shape would be considered as an ‘inverted triangle’. This is a common male body type and a lot of garments tend to be designed for men with these proportions. The trapezoid is often referred to as one of the most athletic male body types and is enhanced with well fitted tops and shirts to enhance your figure. Wearing tops and bottoms in similar shades will help create a uniform outfit and vertical stripes can be worn to elongate your body and make your small hips look better proportioned with your wider shoulders.
Opposite to the inverted triangle, the triangle body shape is where you have quite narrow shoulders and chest with most of your weight being in the centre of your body. Men who fit this body shape tend to have wider hips and thighs which is why skinny fit trousers are something we usually swap out with straight leg trousers to ensure there is no one part of your body that stands out the most (if you don’t want it to!). Triangle body shapes also suit vertical stripes as this gives the illusion of a slimmer silhouette along with structured jackets. If you have this body shape you should try to avoid oversized jackets with unstructured shoulders as this will make your silhouette look larger, jackets with structure at the shoulders will frame your body nicely and draw the attention upwards to where your body is slimmer.
Whilst the triangle body shape holds most of their bulk in their centre, it mainly rests on top of the hips. Oval body shapes find that their overall centre is quite rounded, their shoulders and hips are in proportion and their arms and legs are small in comparison which can make it difficult to find clothes, in particular shirts and tops, that fit well. Ovals should go the extra mile to ensure that the lengths of sleeves and trouser legs are correct as excess material will make you look shorter and draw attention to your centre. Loud patterns and prints should be worn towards the lower half of the body and you should avoid wearing boots as these will shorten your leg length. Try purchasing some loosely tapered trousers to add structure to your leg without making them appear disproportionately slim to your frame as slim fit trousers would.
Rectangular body shapes are generally evenly proportioned from their shoulders and waist through to their hips and legs. Men with rectangular body shapes often like to create the illusion of wider shoulders whilst maintaining their slim frame by layering shirts, jumpers and scarves to make your upper body look more strong and structured. Colour and prints are especially good for this frame and it can help make your figure look shapelier.

It’s that time of year again when we are already well into a new year and eagerly exploring ways in which we can inject Pantone’s color of the year into our wardrobes!
Pantone’s colour of the year has been reflective of the current cultural climate since the early 2000’s; each year the chosen colour has historically influenced a multitude of different design elements including interior design and food – but especially fashion. This year, however, it is clear that the yellow-green hue is representative of the environment as 2017 is set to be the year of improved sustainability.
For 2017, the Pantone color of the year is Greenery.
2016 was a year of many cultural changes all over the world and Greenery represents new beginnings and fresh starts which is very fitting for 2017. The vibrancy of Greenery will be a stunning colour to wear in early spring and summer, and will help people embrace exploring different colour palettes even if only through a few select pieces.
Keep reading for inspiration from the experts on how to wear Greenery in 2017!

We’re now well into 2017 …….. boy was it good to say goodbye to 2016!It’s that time of the year when we all feel ready to take time and a fresh look at ourselves, our diet, our fitness and our existing wardrobes.
The beginning of 2017 is a time to embrace yourself, learn how to express yourself through the contents of your wardrobe and feel more comfortable with that all important first impression. If your struggling doing it alone, here are a few good reasons why you should get it right for 2017:
First impressions are crucial in both social and professional situations, if you do not feel good in the clothes you are wearing and don’t feel you look good, then this will show in your body language
Dressing according to your size, body shape and colouring shows that you have put time and effort into how you look which will also make you more open and approachable
If your bored with wearing the same style everyday then entering a new year with a bold new style will make you look like you are ready for change and mean business! Going against the grain by wearing print, texture and colour will make a lasting impression on whoever you meet that day – who doesn’t like a compliment!
If you have gained weight over the course of 2016, it’s likely that your clothes may be a little snug. (I know so annoying!) So before that weight starts to fall off you may need to add a few important pieces to your existing wardrobe. Please don’t wear clothes that are too small for you, it only makes you look bigger and that wont make you happy.
Keep reading to find out how to dress better in 2017!
Detox Your Wardrobe
If you’ve entered 2017 feeling like you have an overflowing wardrobe but nothing to wear, you should have a wardrobe detox! If you’re a shopaholic and tend to impulse buy clothes in quantity rather than select quality garments, it’s very quick and easy to end up with clothes that you don’t love and will probably never wear. If you’re feeling brave you could do a clear out on your own or with some of your friends so you can trade clothes, alternatively you could hire a personal stylist to come to your home to give you expert and, more importantly, unbiased advice.
Depart With Damaged Items
Whether it be a snagged jumpers, holey socks or scuffed shoes – they have no place in your wardrobe. The likelihood is that because these garments are damaged you aren’t wearing them anyway, there’s no need to store clothes you are never going to wear!
Introduce A New Colour
If you not too comfortable wearing a wide variety of colours then make it your aim in 2017 to introduce at least one new colour into your wardrobe! It’s important to remember that not all colours are bright and bold; there are numerous shades of every colour that could be flattering on you if you gave it the chance. Maybe fuchsia isn’t your favourite colour and you find it doesn’t compliment your skin tone, there are so many more pink tones including carnation pink and salmon that can be integrated into your everyday outfits subtly!
Quantity Over Quality
The January sales are very tempting but being able to resist a sale and look for quality garments can save you a lot of money and wardrobe space in the long term! Be selective in your sale purchases, research the new looks for Spring and see if you can find pieces that will go through to the next season. Keep a very clear idea in your mind of what you are looking for before you get to the shops, making sure you don’t buy repeats of garments you already own!
Finery recently reached out to Suzanne and asked, as a Finery wearer, if she would like to be part of their Star Power campaign this Christmas – and of course she said yes. Finery launched the campaign in order to give back to their loyal customers and bought in a team of 5 Finery wearers to try on their new collections whilst giving us an insight into their family traditions at Christmas time.
As one of London’s most sought after fashion stylist, Suzanne’s schedule can be very hectic so for her Christmas is a time for her to stop and spend quality time with her equally busy husband Stewart, a top West End hair stylist and their two daughters, Lillie Fay and Ella Ruby – both professional models.
Christmas for Suzanne and her family means a trip back to her roots of Leeds to visit family and good friends. A place that is great to visit but not where she calls home anymore. Suzanne felt out of place when growing up in the suburbs of Leeds and craved being able to express her unique style freely. Now having lived in London for 33 years, Suzanne believes she belongs here.
“You can be anyone you want there, dress anyway you like. Finery is absolutely what London’s about – it’s different and interesting and brings out people’s personalities.” – Suzanne Bernie
