I’m so excited to be sharing this post with you today because it means we finally have a functional patio! Our backyard was one of the decision-making factors for us when we bought our house. I have always wanted an outdoor space that we can all enjoy. We love to grill and I always enjoy eating outside and of course, all the kids want to do is be outdoors. When we found a house we loved and it had a big backyard, it sealed the deal!

We waited well over a year to furnish/decorate the patio because we really wanted to make sure we LOVED what we ended up with. And, we sure do!

I did a ton of research when it came to patio furniture. I am really into the gray/tan color combo right now and definitely think all of the furniture will stand the test of time. I added some color with pillows and a runner, and kept the rugs neutral and dark because I know they are bound to get dirty.

The finishing touches on our patio are our TIKI Brand torches. They really tie everything together! We have some of their traditional torches in black/gold and some tabletop torches in white/gold. (Sign up for their newsletter and get a coupon code for 25% off your order plus free shipping!) I love that they look stylish and that the flames are adjustable. I have been using TIKI Brand Bitefighter® Torch Fuel in our torches. We live right in the Metroparks and the fuel has done a great job repelling mosquitos already. Ben and Greylen tend to get bit a TON and they haven’t at all yet. Fingers crossed for a bite-free summer! Plus, it smells great and our backyard looks super cool when all of the torches are lit up. We can stay outside well into the night now, which is so fun!

We’ve been spending lots of time on our patio already this spring – relaxing, eating, playing and lighting our TIKI Brand torches whenever we get the chance. It truly is our little oasis and I can’t wait for all of the memories our family will create there!

Disclosure: This post was written in partnership with TIKI Brand.

Talk about a simple outfit! This jumpsuit has already been a go-to for me this season, especially when paired with these mules. I just saw that they come in black too…I love the tan so much that I may just have to get them!

We had such a fun Mother’s Day weekend. I got to spend a ton of time with my kids and we went to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens on Saturday. I haven’t been in a couple of years and I had forgotten how great it is. Such a peaceful place to go! I definitely recommend, with kids or not. Hope you had a good weekend, too!

In honor of Mother’s Day this year, I asked some of my favorite moms their motherhood advice. I got the BEST answers! It was a great reminder for me that 1) we’re all just trying to figure it out, 2) everyone parents differently (and there is NO wrong way!) and 3) I have some awesome, funny, smart women in my life! Scroll through and enjoy!

“Don’t overthink it and don’t sweat the small stuff. Because I promise you, a month from now, a year from now, whatever it might be – you won’t even remember it. Relish in the moment and let others think what they want!”
-Mom of a toddler with one on the way

“It’s only been a few weeks but I’ve never known something to be so challenging but magical at the same time. I’ve never put more of my heart and soul into something and gotten the most amazing result. It’s a little part of myself and my husband that we will love unconditionally forever and I always remember that even through all of the poop, pee, spit up and sleepless nights, the snuggles, kisses, smiles and love make it worth it.”
-Mom of a 2 week old!

“A happy mom makes a happy family. It’s so important to take time to do things for yourself that give you joy and fulfillment.”
-Mom of a toddler with one on the way

“You’ll have good days, you’ll have bad days, you’ll have okay days. And guess what? It’s all normal. No one has all of their sh*t together, even if it looks like they do. Surround yourself with women who know this and embrace it.”
-Mom of 2

“Don’t stick up or cover up for your kids when they are wrong. Love them unconditionally but use it as an opportunity to teach them something.”
-Mom of 4, grandma of 12, great-grandma of 6

“Don’t be strict when your little ones want to climb in bed with you to sleep. Just remember they feel safe and loved when they are with you. Embrace it and snuggle them in…one day, not too far away, they will no longer be sleeping in your house.”
-Mom of 2

“People will give you their opinion or advice. You can listen but you know your kids best. Go with your gut.”
-Mom of 4, grandma of 2

“Motherhood is completely and totally beautiful, exhausting, challenging, rewarding, debilitating, exhilarating, fantastic, and sometimes terrible. Your heart will explode one million times from things that make you happier, sadder, and angrier than you could have ever imagined. What it is NOT, is easy. Anyone who acts like it is, is LYING!”
-Mom of 3

“I don’t spank my kids, but you better believe when they act like maniacs, I pull out the wooden spoon and whack it on whatever piece of furniture is near me. Then I tell them “next time, that’s your butt!” Works every time.”
-Mom of 2

“Toddlers can honestly be ridiculous. Even as cute as they are, it’s normal to feel stressed at times! When a “moment” is going down, the best thing I do for myself is breathe, laugh about it and move on knowing this is a phase I’ll miss one day!”
-Mom of a toddler with one on the way

“Read to them every day. It is such a special bonding time that opens the door for great conversations.”
-Mom of 2, grandma of 2

“There is an overwhelming amount of information out there but you and your family are unique. Do not try to force something that doesn’t work. Also, always surround yourself with people who love and support you.”
-Mom of a 10 month old

“It can be hard, but don’t compare yourself to other moms. You are the best mom for your baby! Haters gonna hate!”
-Mom of a 6 month old

“Is everyone alive? Then everything is fine. Really. Everything could be momentarily f-ing hideous but overall, everything is fine. Motherhood is about the big picture and big picture, everything is (almost always) fine.”
-Mom of 3

“Remind yourself often that everything is a phase – both heartwarming and trying. Remind yourself this when your child won’t sleep through the night, is throwing a tantrum at target or won’t eat anything you make for dinner. But also remind yourself this when they fall asleep on your chest, when they hold your hand during a walk, and when they want a kiss and hug before they go into school. Some phases are short, some are long, but none last forever.”
-Mom of 2

“There is no such thing as a perfect parent. But you will always be the most perfect person to parent your child. Parent in a style that is uniquely yours. Some days are going to be complete chaos and you will make mistakes but you just have to roll with it!”
-Mom of a toddler with one on the way

“Motherhood is the greatest gift that one can receive. Forget what needs to be done and cherish your moments with them. You want them to grow up but it’s all too fast.”
-Mom of 3, grandma of 4, great-grandma of 4

“LOVE YOUR KIDS! The rest will sort itself out. Yes, you have to make major decisions and guide them and teach them and mold them into wonderful, productive citizens but all of that seems completely overwhelming and impossible when you’re in your 9,000th hour of being cried at. So, if you just make your love for your kids the center of every choice and decision, you’ll never go wrong. Or, when you are wrong, at least you can be comforted by the fact that you had the best intentions!”
-Mom of 3

If you’re on the hunt for spring shoes, this post is for you! We’ve had a couple spring-like days this season and they have been aahhhhmazing! It feels so refreshing to be able to reach for light clothes and slip-on shoes instead of chunky boots. And all of those pictured up there are the ones I’m talking about! Some are from last year but most are from this year and ALL of them are a steal. Add in a pair of cute tennis shoes (because you know that’s actually what I am wearing most of the time…) and this is more than what you need for spring!

No one in our house is feeling great this week (me included) so we are taking it prettttty easy. I have fun plans with friends all this weekend so I’m hoping I can kick whatever this is quickly! Make sure you are following me on Instagram to see what I’m up to…and, I just ordered a few new house things that I can’t wait to share!

“Cheetah girls, cheetah sistersssss” has literally been in my head since I wore this outfit and my sister commented that on my Instagram post…haha. Anyone else remember that song/movie?!

Leopard/cheetah (I never know the difference…) is definitely having a moment right now and I couldn’t be happier. For me, it totally falls in the category of a neutral (kind of like camo). I am OBSESSED with this jumpsuit! You can keep it casual like I did here or dress it up with sandals or heels for a night out. Best of all, it feels like pajamas soooooo you know I’m in!

jumpsuit: american eagle (I think this runs a little big…I’m wearing an XS)
shoes: adidas (similar)
jean jacket: articles of society
bag: anthropologie
sunglasses: mvmt
necklace: the sis kiss

I’ve had a couple people ask me recently where I’ve gotten certain prints around our house so I figured it was time to let you in on a little secret – most of the time, I make them. The best part? It takes about 5 minutes and costs almost nothing.

I use this website to download fonts, type my quote in a Word document, PDF it and sent to an office supply store to print (for usually under $1!). My go-to frames are the really simple (and usually really cheap) solid color frames from Michael’s and Target.

Now, I’m no designer so I only do this when I’m looking for a quick quote or something like that. For more specialized prints (like Cleveland-specific things, art in my kid’s rooms, maps, etc.), I love purchasing from local small business owners (and have lots of examples of those on Instagram). In some spots, however, this method totally works for me! Here are some examples from around our house:

In my office!

Our wedding song lyrics printed and hung in the hallway. A less than $15 decor item that a lot of people have commented on!

I got this poster-size frame for our playroom for under $20 and printed the quote for under $2!

So easy right!? Give it a try…the possibilities are endless!

The weather is finally turning and it has me wanting to refresh my closet! Lots of great sales happening this week so I thought I’d pop on and share:

So many cute shoes here, here and here (Use code ‘BEESKNEES’ for up to 25% off). I wear these all the time!

The Shopbop sale is going on right now (up to 25% off with code ‘EVENT19’). I just ordered this bathing suit top and bottom.

I’ve recently been into Express again (blast from the past…I used to shop there in high school!). They have an extra 30% off on clearance right now.

Up to 50% at Old Navy. I always stock up on summer stuff for the kid’s Easter baskets here!

Target has a BOGO on accessories. I’ll take this and these, please! Tons of dresses also on sale.

American Eagle shorts on sale. They always have a good selection!

All of Aerie’s bikini tops and bottoms are $17 (more than 50% off in most cases). I love this one!

Hopefully with the warm weather I’ll be able to fit in some more outfit shoots with all of these spring pieces. Stay tuned!

It’s been a loooong time since I’ve shopped for bathing suits. But this year, I’m not pregnant and I’m not recovering from a pregnancy so it’s time to update my selection!

I recently picked up this one-piece from Aerie and I absolutely love it. I definitely want to try some different styles this year so I also just got this in the mail from Shopbop. I want to order some others by the brand (Palmacea) – the quality seems great and I love the patterns!

Otherwise, I was thinking of ordering from Cupshe (are the prices too good to be true?!), Lulus and maybe some from Target (they have some really cute ones online right now).

Where do you shop for bathing suits? If you have any suggestions, please send them my way and I’ll be sure to report back with what works out!

We recently returned from a vacation to Disney! I plan to do a couple of posts (what we did, what we ate and some tips for going with kid’s Grey and Nixon’s ages!) but I wanted to get a quick post up about what we wore! I had a lot of fun picking out our outfits and probably got a little too into it. If you want to dress the part for a Disney trip, I definitely recommend starting to think about outfits early. You can find some really good deals (I did!) and truly, anything is cheaper than buying it in the park. There are also some great small shops that can do custom orders for the whole fam (I swear Ben was on the trip with us but he’s usually behind the camera!) when you order in advance. Check out our outfits below and let me know if you have any questions!
