The rise of virtual currencies in the Philippines started in 2014 when the BSP released its first advisory and informed the public about its features and risks in dealing with cryptocurrencies. 3 years after, a circular concerning virtual currency exchanges that are more favorable towards crypto was released under the so-called BSP Circular 944 where licensed companies are allowed to legally exchange fiat to cryptocurrency and vice versa.
My first hand experience and knowledge on cryptocurrencies was in 2015. It was an app where I can earn virtual coins through tasks or trade and invest them. In 2018, when there was a sudden downfall and issues concerning that virtual coin; I stopped investing but still continued using other services in the app such as mobile payments and online shopping.
My understanding and awareness on blockchain and cryptocurrency is too shallow until I met the representatives from World Token Issuing Alliance (WTIA) and gave me in-depth knowledge about their technology.
WTIA is the advisory and capital market solution of some of the biggest real-world blockchain projects in the world. Projects include sovereign-level tokenization programs, utility-token driven business models for listed companies, tokenized infrastructure securities, high technology applications and much more. Governments and large corporations seeking a new paradigm in management, asset utilization, business development and stakeholder engagement have joined the WTIA, therefore it has become a network of some of the world’s top business, infrastructure development, blockchain advisors and discerning investors, bringing capital, technology and know-how to developing countries and large multi-national corporations.

Just like the other blockchain and virtual currencies, WTIA sought license for them to be able to operate in the country. This June, the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority has granted an Offshore Virtual Currency Exchange (OVCE) Provisional Regular License to WTIA, paving the way for WTIA to launch its exchange service on the WTIA Platform.
With the help of the regulatory and business framework in CEZA, the World Token Issuing Alliance (WTIA) will help companies and countries from around the world adopt emerging blockchain technology and embrace a new tokenized economy.
WTIA works with some of the world’s largest blockchain and asset tokenization projects and is responsible for bringing together such projects as Monopoly Hotels & Resorts (MHR); Smart City Company (SCC); and many more.
According to Keunyoung Kim, the chairman of WTIA, "WTIA is all about supporting Real Projects that have a positive impact on the community and country. Projects that deliver economic growth, create high value jobs, and can benefit from blockchain technology’s transparency, trust and security."
This is a major step forward for WTIA as they prepare to launch their fully regulated security token exchange platform to increase liquidity for their projects. WTIA’s new license will allow WTIA to offer security, utility and virtual currency tokens, covering the broad spectrum of token offerings required as the portfolio of projects under WTIA expands.
With the increasing popularity of blockchain and its growing ecosystem of tokens, liquidity ensures fair pricing for projects through market dynamics and allows users to invest in the success of projects that they support.
Kaycee Kim CEO of WTIA expressed that they are very excited to receive this important license from CEZA. WTIA will be able to help their projects develop tokenization models based on asset digitalization, solving many of the problems and bottlenecks in the current marketplace. Through WTIA and blockchain technology, they are hopeful that they can bring real projects to fruition, creating economic prosperity and jobs for all.
The ability to tokenize assets is creating a quiet revolution in the financial world. The digital tokenization of assets such as real estate, corporate assets and even IP allows assets to change hands conveniently, quickly and cheaply, without the need for complicated processes and even middlemen. Information is stored on an immutable ledger, secured via a decentralized network, and linked through cryptology, creating a trusted system for the transfer and verification of ownership. Many mainstream financial institutions and asset management companies are very interested in the prospects from this technology and are considering the issuance of tokens backed by real world assets.
One of the features of WTIA is the WTIA Exchange and the RXR Token. The WTIA-X is a platform or an app for the digital exchange enhancing liquidity of the projects, giving the network of over 54 million investors an opportunity to partake in the development and growth of WTIA projects. Do take note however, that unlike the current blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies in the country, WTIA is not open for small scale investments, because they are building real projects for communities and smart cities and generate jobs and opportunities for people.
RXR coin on the other hand, is a utility token that are issued to provide liquidity and trading support to all WTIA projects. It will be used to pay for fees on WTIA and WTIA-X. RxR Tokens can be exchanged for BTC and ETH.

Being a soup lover, I first tried their Wagyu Bulalo which is served piping hot in a tall bowl. I was never disappointed - it's a legit Bulalo with no artificial seasoning. I enjoyed the large bone marrow - what a dose of collagen! They also have Sinigang na Lechon which is as good as the bulalo. Both contain tender meat that even the kids and the grannies will have a good time eating them.
They also offer all-time all-original Pinoy dishes with a twist such as Crispy Dinuguan, Wagyu Mechado, Lechon Sisig, Lapu-lapu with Mango Sauce and more. The Crispy Dinuguan is a must-try for people who have doubts about the taste of the usual dinuguan. Wagyu Mechado is very flavorful, and it will definitely give you the best definition of what mechado is so it wouldn't be mistaken for menudo or afritada. Their Lechon Sisig is a level-up dish. There are a lot of mouth-watering sisigs out there but the Casa Reyes' version is of better quality based on the taste and the preparation. One thing I noticed with their sisig is that it is less oily than the others.
Among their dishes, the Tinapa at Kesong Puti Lumpia with Mango Salsa is highly-commendable. This dish, I must say, is truly Pinoy - the tinapa and kesong puti is our very own local products and the best mango in the world can be found in the Philippines - therefore they all make a proudly Pinoy ingenious dish!
Apart from these sumptuous dishes, they also offer all-time breakfast and combo rice meals such as Wagyu Beef BBQ Cubes which surprisingly is soooo tender and juicy, Bagnet and Laing Combo which will make you feel the best delicacies from North to South, a complete meal for the day - Pinakbet Rice with Bagnet; and for the meat-lovers, feel overly filled and full with Siracha Tomahawk BBQ Chops and Angus Rib Eye Steak with Truffle Butter - both served in large portions.
For the drinks and desserts, don't forget to try the Watermelon Shake and the Fresh Buco Juice - both refreshing, perfect thirst-quencher. I also have to commend the Artisanal Pinoy Gelato Floats with tablea flavor - it's chocolatey, it is rich in flavors and I love the taste of the original tablea. It was nostalgic because the taste is very similar to the tablea that my Aunt from Batangas used to make everytime I visit their home.
Before going back to your "true" home, don't forget to try their Pinoy Gelatos which are all superb! I can't choose the best one, for they are all best-tasting and luscious. And for the pasalubong, you should get a can of Salted Egg Bibingka Cheesecake with a sweet and salty goodness of bibingka and the fluffiness of a Japanese cheesecake.

In the past couple of years Casa Historia has preserved and maintained houses like Villa Tortuga (Taal, Batangas), Arce Mansion (Vigan, Ilocos Sur) and Casa La Demetria (Pagsanjan, Laguna). Perez has also served as a consultant for the restoration of Ning Balemi (Pampanga), Villa Saryaya (Sariaya, Quezon), Tampuhan Café (Taal, Batangas), and Casa Asunción (Balayan, Batangas) which is owned by the famous actor Leo Martinez. National Cheese Day is an internet phenomenon that has unclear roots. Nonetheless, it is very clear that everyone can relate to celebrating the deliciousness and creaminess that cheese, particularly the country's #1 cheese - EDEN - brings to the dishes we serve our families.

Let me share you a story about how I and my Nanay enjoyed EDEN cheese during my younger years...
"Mom had passed away 11 yrs ago. But I still remember how she makes every Christmas very special back when she was still alive.
I grew up having a single parent who took care and provided me everything for a living, my Inay. I can really say that we had a hard life during my early years. My mother was a farmer who only earns 100-150 pesos a day. But she made sure that every Christmas we'd spend together is a very special one.
She would always cook "suman malagkit sa palaspas", pansit, and chicken adobo sa gata for Christmas Eve and of course, she would buy a pack of loaf bread and a box of her favorite "Eden cheese."
I'd still remember, she would always tell me, "Kulang ang Pasko at Bagong Taon ko kpag wala ang keso na ito." That was how simply we celebrated Christmas when I was young.
Now that I have a family of my own and we celebrate Christmas with a lot of foods and gifts for everyone, I still miss the simplicity of Christmas she had shared with me..."

Allianz Philippines recently received a presidential citation from the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) for staunchly supporting its advocacy projects geared toward creating awareness and lay education about cardiovascular health. This is the second year that the company received the award. It is the only non-pharmaceutical company to have done so.
“The numbers are alarming when it comes to the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. Angina, for one, has caused 17.3 million deaths each year. As a company that advocates health protection, we consider it our duty to do our share in promoting awareness about heart health,” said Gae Martinez, Allianz Philippines chief marketing officer, who received the award on behalf of the company during the 50th PHA Annual Convention at the Conrad Hotel in Manila.
Allianz Philippines was the Official Life Insurance Partner of the PHA in its celebration of Heart Month last February. For two years running, the company has also been the PHA’s partner for its Camp Braveheart. Conceptualized in 2007, the program seeks to encourage children who were born with heart disease and have undergone surgery to live a normal life like other kids. During the said event, Allianz conducted a financial literacy exercise for the participating kids’ parents.
Also, last February, Allianz Philippines sponsored the PHA’s Heart Fair in Tacloban as well as the launch of their Angina Awareness campaign in K. Kangleon, Palo, Leyte. Angina is one of the symptoms of coronary heart disease and is the world’s number one killer, according to the World Health Federation. Cardiovascular disease is now considered an epidemic that is projected to cause 52 million deaths in 2030 unless measures are taken.
Allianz and the PHA have, likewise, partnered in a nationwide Health Caravan that went to the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Iloilo, Cebu, and Manila. PHA doctors delivered lectures educating bankers and agents about angina and the 502100 campaign, which encourages people to live a healthy active lifestyle.
More recently, Allianz and the PHA launched the Fit Heart Minute videos, which aims to teach Filipinos to be more active. They consist of one-minute exercise videos featuring Dr. Rey as well as fitness coaches and TV host Jim and Toni Saret.
