The time has come... I’m SO excited to announce that myself and 7 other body confident hosts are a part of Channel 4 ‘s brand new TV series, NAKED BEACH.
We spent the summer helping some truly beautiful souls realise their own beauty and worth, on their own journey of self acceptance and self love.
Social psychologist Dr Keon West & body image expert Natasha Devon MBE have put a social experiment to the test that could help those who hate their bodies to learn to love them. This is where us 8 confident, body painted hosts come in to help. In each episode you will see us be joined by 3 guests with seriously low self esteem issues, in the hope to learn to accept and love themselves.
The lack of self love in the UK is concerning to say the least. It’s been engrained in us from young ages to be worried about how our bodies look. For YEARS, media’s all around us have led us to an unattainable standard of body image... It’s time for a much needed change. Life can be incredible once you realise that the perfect body image doesn’t exist. Let’s encourage love. Let’s radiate L.O.V.E. Let’s blossom and be the best version of ourselves, for ourselves.
“Bikini body ready?” What does that mean? Why have we created this in our society? It makes me cringe whenever I hear it. “Striving for the ‘perfect’ body?” Nah. What is perfect any ways? Perfect isn’t what you see in the media or online. We’ve had photoshopped bodies shoved down our throats for years without question. These ‘perfect’ bodies these ‘flawless’ men and women have that we are exposed DAILY online and in other media’s, aren’t what each of us has to offer, so it’s bound to make so many of us feel unworthy. I hate it when I see magazines slash women for ‘being out of shape’ AND then for having surgery... well, who is to blame? When bodies are not being criticised we’re still being exposed to absolute fakery from TV adverts, and especially here on social media. With skin smoothed to the high heavens & body parts shaped to their own desire, all by the fiddle of a free app, to live up to the standards of ‘perfect’ we as a society have created. It’s damaging to both the viewer and to those who are manipulating themselves into something they’re not.
So, How about we just... be...? How about we work towards accepting and loving OUR own bodies, for who we are. Let’s sack off the daily comparisons, let’s focus on OURSELVES. What we think of ourselves is what matters most, who cares about what matey across the road thinks of us? We are all worthy of being loved, appreciated and desired, for who we are, as we are. Let’s embrace who we are, without any pressure from advertising, social media, or people’s opinions.
The more normal naked bodies we’re exposed to of all shapes and sizes, with lumps, bumps, jiggly parts, bony parts, scars & hair, saggy boobs, smaller pointy boobs, anything goes... the more we start to see our own normal bodies in a different light. A more loving light. A light we should naturally see about ourselves but we end up in a wheel of comparison.
We want change. I truly hope each of your faaaabulous naked body painted hosts can help you overcome your struggles.
Coming to Channel 4, Thursday the 11th of April at 8pm.
Set it in your calendars sis, it’s going to be a wild ride of love, emotion, and growth!!!
A HUGE thank you to the incredible Body paint artists for creating these magical designs on us each day, Nicole, this look was one of my favourites from you. What a fabulous team.
Spring, we neeeeeed you! I'm SO done with winter now.
The past week in London has been an absolute delight with this warm weather & continuous sunshine.
It looks like we all got our hopes up a little too soon as the rain and grey skies are back in full swing today.. fabulous, looks like I'll be raiding SkyScanner in the mean time to escape the dullness!
Speeeeaking of Spring... it's that time of the year where all of my favourite brands slowly begin to drop some of their incredible new SS19 collections.
Miss Selfridge had invited me along to their exclusive press preview & breakfast to celebrate the new Spring summer collection.
As bad as it sounds..I'm not too clued up with the trends set for SS19 I'll be honest, so I didn't know what styles and colours to expect from the new collection.
As you'll be able to see from below, there are a lot of stunning pastel colours, whites, and quite a few dark options surprisingly! We often associate Spring with lots of light colours so it was interesting seeing a few darker tones on the hangers.
It seems to be like animal print is going to be sticking around a while longer, which I'm SO happy about! Plenty of floral prints, even noticed some paisley creeping it's way back in too! I personally haven't worn Paisley in about 3-4 years, so it's good to see that making it's way back in with the trends.
Slip dresses and skirts are also here to stay too! I'm definitely not mad about that. Slips are perfect for all seasons. I'm so so excited for Miss Selfridge to release their pastel green maxi slip, as well as their shorter pink slip with a cowl neck! They seriously need to make their way into my wardrobe ASAP.
What I loved most about the collection was the embellished pieces I spotted! Keep an eye out for the yellow dress, black floral playsuit, and my FAVOURITE pink midi dress I shot below! It's simply stunning. I can totally see myself wearing one of the embellished or slip styles for a more formal occasion this Spring/Summer,
like a wedding or graduation.
As I was raiding the gorgeous rails Miss Selfridge had set up in the back of Kalifornia Kitchen, I instantly began to create a wish list in my mind... and danggg did it GROW FAST! There were SO many beautiful styles I suddenly became obsessed with.
The collection will begin to be released into stores late March/April.
After viewing the collection we headed upstairs (the staircase at Kalifornia Kitchen is INCREDIBLE! head there and see why!) for a sit down breakfast. The menu was fantastic, so many incredible options! I opted for the buckwheat banana and blueberry pancakes, alongside a super green smoothie. I've been trying out so many new food places in London recently and I really recommend this new plant based place. Me and Zoe London in fact stumbled across this place a few weeks ago for a sweet treat and a CBD coconut milk latte.
Sitting down to write this blog post, I thought it would great to have a little snoop on the current New In collections online at Miss Selfridge.

Hello festive season... did you come around quick or what?! This year, I've absolutely loved feeling festive. I've been surrounded by friends and family which has made it feel real easy getting into the Christmas spirit this month. This month I've felt incredibly grateful for those in my life, and the memories shared so far this year. Like most busy families, it can be difficult all year round to dedicate some much-needed time together, which is why Christmas is so important for me, since it serves me and my family some much needed time off to wind down and spend together. I'm really excited to share that I've partnered up with instax and their new instax SQUARE SQ6 instant camera to embark on a digital detox and spend some time away from screens in the lead up to Christmas.
With the house decorated so perfectly (by my wonderful mum!) it makes it a really cosy time of year for us all to spend some time together at home. Me and my family have a bit of a yearly tradition of spending the evening taking part in a family quiz. My sister will spend a while curating her own quiz and put me and my parents to the test... trust me, it gets real competitive.
By finding an activity such as a 'quiz night' that we all enjoy, we find that it's the perfect way to get take a break from our social devices for the evening. This means, no phones (It's a no-brainer, it'd be too easy to search the answers online right?!) NO TV! Since my dad has always got his teeth sunk into a series each evening it's nice to pull him away from this... Also, no laptops or reading devices either! A good digital detox is required when spending quality family time together. Capturing moments like this as a family is still important though, which is why I brought my instax SQUARE SQ6 along to the quiz to make sure we could still create some lovely memories from the night.
I've had an obsession with photography since I was a small child. Having studied Photography at college, I soon found my love for film photography and the joy I had from developing each film I shot was more than enough to make me stick through further education..
I first fell in love with instax around about 2 years ago, with my pink instax Mini 9. I took it to every festival with me and captured moments I'd be unable to recreate with a digital camera. That’s why I couldn't wait to get my hands on the instax SQUARE SQ6. The new features this camera has excites me a lot, so let's talk about them and why I'm so excited by them!
THE FILM IS SQUARE
Let's state the obvious... the SQ6 is a square format camera. The print outs are larger, that little bit of extra added space in the photos which actually allows you to capture a whole lot more. This worked perfectly for me and my family when we were getting a group shot all together in our Christmas hats, that leads me on to the next feature...
SELF TIMER IS HERE!
YES! Having self-timer on the new instax is an absolute game changer.
I self-shoot A LOT. I'd say most of my Instagram shots are taken by me and my tripod, so a camera with self-timer is an essential. I wanted to get a photo that wasn't a selfie of me and my family so this really worked in my favour on doing so. I simply propped the camera up on a flat stable ledge, squared up the shot through the eye hole, directed and re-adjusted everyone to fit in perfectly, clicked the self-timer button (situated on the back of the camera, it's hard to miss!) then I popped myself in the photo and we waited for the flash countdown to finish before the photo took. The pictures came out so well.
COLOURED PHOTOS MADE EASY
The instax SQ6 comes with 3 coloured flash filters to pop over your flash so you can add a splash of colour to your photos. This is such a cool feature and is like adding an Instagram filter to your photos, absolutely perfect for parties, gigs or just for that edgy shot!
Kiss goodbye to manual exposure on this instax, the automatic exposure makes it super easy to achieve the perfect shot each time! There are also a few more options to change this from auto depending on the shot you're going for. There's a landscape & macro option, close selfie mode, as well as lighten & darken modes in case the auto isn't working out too well for you.
There's one new feature I couldn't miss out! Probably the most exciting new feature to come to the instax is the new double exposure mode. You can overlap 2 shots within one frame with this new mode, I've always been super keen to play around with this since I got it, I'm excited to have fun and try this one out with different festive backgrounds this season! Expect lots of snaps with plenty of tinsel shots coming your way...
Have fun with your instant photography most importantly. Experiment with plenty of colours, textures, props, people.. & anything that sparkles and glitters, especially this time of year! I loved shooting me and my families new Christmas hats, playing around with plenty of tinsel & party poppers! There's so many incredible ways to make a picture fun and playful, I absolutely love the shot I got of my sister hanging a red bauble over my mum's nose to replicate a reindeers one! It's all about being silly and having fun.
It's SO important to remember to LIVE IN THE MOMENT! That's why I love these cameras so much. Since you get only 10 shots per film pack, it really makes the moment captured special when taking them! Each shot should be a memory to treasure.
There's also so many different ways you can display your instax moments. This Christmas, I'll be popping mine on the Christmas tree and on the garland this year for that unique touch.
Thank you to instax for partnering with me on this special project.
It’s been quite a while since I wrote my last travel post, so I’m back to talk about my trip to Turkey earlier this year! Me and a few others road tripped the incredibly gorgeous turquoise coast of Turkey.
Last year I headed to Benidorm to explore the alternative side of the seaside town. Besides being swarmed with British tourists each year I managed to seek some incredible spots which has since opened my eyes to the popular destination. I’m always looking to experience places that exceed expectations, was Turkey going to surprise me with its incredible scenery? (Slight clue: absolutely).
During our short 5 day stay we managed to fit in 5 different cities. Our intense itinerary looked a little like this: Bodrum > Marmaris > Dalyan > Olu Deniz > Fetihye - pretty crazy right? That’s a lot of land to cover in less than a week.
Let me start from the bottom and work my way up. We landed at 4am to Dalaman airport, little did we know we were about to embark on another 3 hour journey to Bodrum to spend the night. We were kindly welcomed at Royal Asarlik hotel with a breakfast before heading up to our rooms. Sadly the rooms weren’t as great as the rest of the hotel looked, they smelt of cigarettes and looked like something from the late 80s (now, I'm all for the retro vibe but... this had just been left too long for a refresh!) but since we were only there for one night I didn’t mind too much! They did have a stunning sunrise view which I soon found out the following morning. We really enjoyed a lazy day around the 2 pool areas the resort had to offer, the bar & entertainment staff were so incredibly kind and welcoming, and definitely accommodated to our needs.
We managed to head out to the Bodrum marina- it was absolutely gorgeous! The winding white washed alley ways were so wonderful to walk through. I really wish I had done my shopping here, since there were some lovely stalls and shops! Before sunset we headed to see the best view of the city, which is opposite the stunning amphitheatre! I’d really recommend this stop if you have a spare moment.
After a well needed sleep, we were up and ready to head to Marmaris. We had a pit stop at Atalyans ocakbaşı muğla for lunch. They accommodated for my vegetarian needs with some stunning traditional Turkish dishes! It really seems like this place is in the middle of nowhere, which was a perfect mid way stop on our journey.
As we arrived into Marmaris later on that evening, we headed straight to our next resort, SENTIDO ORKA lotus beach. This place was my favourite spot of the whole trip. It truly is paradise with its tranquil location. The beach is incredibly calm with the most scenic mountain views. We spent the evening relaxing, eating, and joining the hotel on the rooftop bar for some welcome drinks. Spending only one night here wasn’t enough, I could had easily spent a week there & not moved!
Whilst we were in Marmaris we checked out the Bazaar shopping centre. I’ll make it easy for you guys: If you like cloned designer bags, or other wise known as ‘genuine fakes’ this is the place for you. It’s full of them. I really didn’t like this place so I can’t recommend to go there... I personally love markets that sell authentic local goods. After the market, we checked out the marina which was super gorgeous- full of amazing food and drink spots. Me and a few of the girls stopped for a coffee whilst watching the beauty all around us.
Since we were spending a second night in Marmaris, we checked in to the stunning Green Nature resort This resort hosted a huge activity pool with plenty of sun beds surrounding it, with direct access to the beach. The energy was alive here, it was a super busy hotel & the high season wasn’t in full swing yet.
The rooms were stunning too, mine was super large and airy with a beautiful view of the sea. I absolutely loved the fact you had a private sealed off balcony to each room too. My room had an incredible view to the main stage performances that take place each evening. On the night we were there, a Colombian dance show took place & it was truly UNREAL!
The following morning, we had a trip planned in Dalyan to check out the cleopatra mud baths. All week I had been super excited to experience my first mud bath! We indulged our bodies in the mud and laid out in the sun to dry out completely, before washing off & heading into the sulphate thermal baths to make us feel incredible. This was one of my trip highlights, I absolutely loved seeing the Lycian rock tombs along route too.
After our boat trip we headed to check in to our final hotel, ORKA Sunlife Hotel. This gorgeous resort is set up in the hills away from the beach in Ölüdeniz. I was in shock when I checked in to my room, it was more like a penthouse! There was a large living room area which lead to a separate bedroom, with panoramic views around it. When I thought the suite couldn’t get any better, I spotted a jacuzzi bath as soon as I walked in the bathroom! After checking out the tasty dinner selection, I headed back early for some me time in the tub! (Accompanied by a glass of white of course).
The next morning we woke up to a HUGE thunder storm, which delayed our departure to start the day in Fethiye. Since this was our last day we wanted to make the most of our time here, so we headed down to Ölüdeniz beach via an incredible viewpoint of the blue lagoon. Later that afternoon we had plans to relax on a yacht for the afternoon with ALESTA yachting. Thankfully the weather cleared up, and it turned out to be a stunning afternoon. The yacht experience was pure bliss, I loved the comfortable lounge spots on the top deck. We were kindly invited to ALESTA Hotel which lays on the marina, for some rooftop cocktail drinks. We convinced our guide to take us to the local market, where we could see a more authentic atmosphere where the locals shop and eat! We tried a range of local cooked goods, and plenty of fruits! I personally LOVE moments like these whilst on a trip to a foreign country. I love seeing how everybody works and communicates together, I love seeing how people spend their day.
Later that evening we headed to Rixos premium belek for our final dinner before making our way back to the UK. Now... this place truly is sensational. This resort looked so incredibly luxurious upon arrival, and it certainly didn’t disappoint as we were showed around. Rixos is a 13+ resort, which is perfect for those who want a quieter get away when visiting Turkey. The dinner was good, though they really need to widen their vegetarian menu... I’m not sure I could come here and live off of pizza for my main course each evening.
Thank you to each of the hotels for hosting us throughout this memorable trip.
Whether they be a cheap eBay find which are worn solely for fashion purposes, or a pair of more luxury frames that are worth investing in.
We love sunglasses, especially in the summer- but they can definitely be worn all year round for different occasions.
I find there are two types of people when it comes to sunglasses.
1. Those who consider the type of shades they’re going to wear before they’ve looked at what clothes to put on.
2. Those who shove a random pair of frames in their bag before they leave the house.
So which one are you sis? I’m not gonna lie... I’m definitely both sometimes. It really depends on the occasion for me! If I’m popping to the shop in my casual garms & it’s a ‘no makeup day’ - you bet I’m grabbing a random pair to just cover my eyes, (yep I’ll be that girl in Tescos with her shades still on as I browse the bakery section!).
I feel that sunglasses have that magical power of making some of the laziest looks look great.
Though, how do sunglasses make an outfit?
This is what today’s post is all about folks.
Strap yourself in & enjoy the ride.
THEY'RE EYE CATCHING.
Sunglasses catch the attention of many whilst on the street.
"Ooooh, I love her glasses!" - something I often find myself saying to Max as we walk around London.
There's something almost quite mysterious about sunglasses, I feel it's because we usually cannot see the persons eyes so it leaves us wondering more about them. The frames you wear speak volumes about the person you are. I personally own a LOT of different eyewear options, & sometimes I actually find the style I wear matches with my mood / look.
The frame that relates to my style a lot this week, has to be the Ray-Ban3447's.
This Matte Silver frame has been my go-to recently because of the fabulous reflective lens.
I've been makeup free for most of the week so it's been nice to throw on a pair of sleek frames which attract a fair amount of attention without having to look into my tired eyes.
Curious to know more about what your sunglasses say about you?
That's a different story all together. Stay tuned for my next post.
As I mentioned earlier about darting to the shops with a pair of shades on... it's true, Am I right ladies & gents?! There really is a style of sunglasses for every occasion.
Make-up free days: SUNGLASSES.
Sunny days: Obvs. SUNGLASSES. ( though changes 3 times a day to make the most of the UK sunshine)
Hangover days: SUNGLASSES.
'Heartbroken but still have to get on with life' days: SUNGLASSES.
Beach holidays: SUNGLASSES (x20)
City breaks: SUNGLASSES (well, unless it's Berlin in the winter)
Happy 'meet you in the beer garden at 5' days: SUNGLASSES.
'Don't talk to me' days: SUNGLASSES.
Do I need to go on?
Now tell me you can relate. Sunglasses are more than an accessory, more than protection from UV rays, but they're there for us for every happening (and every state of emotion.) There are SO many wonderful Ray-Ban styles to choose from on Sunglasses Shop, you'll never have to go without no matter the occasion.
My favourite style for a city break has to be the Ray-Ban 4380N Light Havana - this style gives me a whole load of flexibility when it comes to styling. I don't like to pack too many frames for a 3 day city break, so having one pair of frames that covers all outfit options is a WINNER. There is no silver or gold framing, that's why I love that they're a pure shade of tortoise- meaning I can whether silver or gold accessories with no worries of matching them with my shades!
Most of the teeeeeny weeeny ones on Instagram don't actually have any protection in them, they're just used for fashion purposes- but I wanted both trendy AND protective! I also have the pink version too (actually, and the blue!).
The one accessory that can either make or break your outfit.
MIX IT UP.
Mismatch your outfit. Have fun with it. Style whatever you like, with, whatever you like.
Fashion is here for us to have fun with. There's days I love to match, and there's definitely more days I love to mis match. The 3578 style from Ray-Ban in Copper Top Blue are the perfect frames to clash any outfit with. Have fun with textures, prints and colours.
Wearing a simple outfit with a statement pair of sunglasses is ALWAYS a winner.
Without a pair of statement shades, an basic outfit can look pretty... basic... on it's own.
All pink outfit? It's a no brainer. Choose the pink shades.
My bold round pink Ray-Ban's (style 3592) have been a perfect choice for some of my festival looks this summer. I've absolutely loved rocking these bold retro frames.
MIRRORED FOR THE WIN.
You cannot beat a pair of reflective shades from Ray-Ban.
The next pair of Ray-Ban's that are currently on my wish list are the style 3556N in gold.
How beautiful are these? I love these because they have both silver and gold in them.. so relating back to what I mentioned earlier in the post about jewellery worries- I have ZERO when styling these beauties! Also- the hexagon trend sunglasses has been one of my favourite to date.
You know what I love about Ray-Ban? They can be the cherry to the outfit you're wearing.
I absolutely love a good pair of sunglasses, & nothing hits the spot more than completing your look with a banging pair of Ray-Ban's.
With so many different styles to choose from these days, there will always be a frame that suits you.
More of a 'can't beat a classic' kinda guy? Max is fully with you on that one- there's something so effortless about the classic frames.
These timeless styles will even have your 78 year old grandad looking popping.
On a more serious note- rock your classic frames with the simple outfits to ride the effortless wave a little harder.
These styles were built to conquer some badass simplicity.
If you're like me and crave an on-trend look, then you MUST own a pair of ovals in your life! I have these in two colours and I'm obsessed... (still another 3 more colours to bag!). The small trendy mirrored frames are the perfect little pop of colour you need for your oh-so-fashionable outfit.
