Valid

I’ve never been the type of person to purchase skincare products from a social media ad, but that’s exactly how I discovered the Follain Skincare Starter Kit! While scrolling through my Facebook timeline, I saw an ad promoting the clean skincare starter kit and since taking care of my skin has become a huge focus of mine, I decided to give it a try.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Follain, here’s the tea on them: they’re a retailer that’s dedicated to curating clean beauty products. They even have a list of restricted ingredients for the products they carry. (Talk about practicing what you preach!) I’m definitely a new fan and follower of this retailer.

Here are my thoughts on the Follian Skincare Starter Kit.

The kit includes a cleanser, mineral mist, recovery cream, a hydration mask; here’s what I’ve experienced after my first week of use.

OSEA Ocean Cleanser

This was my first time using an algae-based cleanser and I’m glad I got to treat my skin to this goodness! This creamy, non-sudsy cleanser is a gift from the gawds! To use it, simply massage into damp skin. And rinse with warm water. According to the label, it detoxifies skin without disturbing its protective barrier becasu of the sea minerals and organic red algae in the formula.

Hannes Dottir Mineral Mist

OK, so for some reason I live for misting my skin! I usually use a b6 spray to give my skin a bit of a boost, so it was a plus to have a multivitamin option. This spray is so refreshing. It gives an instant glow and hydrates your skin without leaving a heavy sticky feeling.

The directions say to use this mist generously on cleansed skin and I took that memo literally because it’s almost gone after my first week of trying out this kit! My final verdict is…GET YOU SOME!

Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream

This. Is. My. Jam. This recovery cream is my favorite product from the collection because it feels good, smells good and leaves my skin looking good! I’ve been using it daily and have no complaints. I dab just a little bit all over my face and it has left my problem areas (like the corners of my nose) hydrated. It protects from free radicals, nourishes and soothes skin and an added-bonus is its fresh, spa-like smell that I love.

Farmaesthetics Herbal Hydration Mask

This mask is a unique gel that has anti-aging benefits. You only have to leave it on for five minutes and then you can go on with your day. I’ve only used it once as a weekly treatment, and I did so in the morning prior to applying my makeup. The results were so good—it dries with a supple, matte finish that is still a bit creamy to the touch and left my skin so soft. It definitely got my skin prep on-point for makeup application.

Additionally, the Follain Skincare Starter Kit contained a really cute pouch that I love because…a’int nobody got time for toxic people or skin!

Overall, I highly recommend this kit. What are your go-to clean skincare products?

Ciao Bellas,

Margo

Hi B&B friends! As a longtime beauty blogger I have tons of products that I’ve purchases and received from PR agencies and brands for review. So, of course this means that I have to think of creative ways to store them all!

I’ve shared product storage tips with publications like PopSugar.com and most recently Self.com and decided ti share that info here on the blog!

Here are 4 of my go-to beauty product organization hacks! 1. Think outside of the box.

Use things like old jewelry boxes, mason jars and pretty decorative boxes and containers to store your products.

2. DIY storage for the win

For makeup, I use a lot of different makeup bags and totes. I keep all of my foundation in one makeup bag, I use plastic and acrylic makeup holders for my lipsticks, lip pencils, mascara, and other beauty essentials. For my brushes, I re-purpose candle holders by wrapping them in printed shelf paper and adding decorative stones.

3. Keep your go-to products front-and-center

Make your beauty routine easier by rotating your products like you do your wardrobe. Keep your go-to items front-and-center for easy access. I like to keep my go-to nail polish colors for the season together as well as my favorite makeup items by using cute bowls and makeup bags for organization.

Check out more of my beauty storage hacks at PopSugar.com and Self.com.

Home is where the heart is, but home should also be where the Zen is! There is no better feeling thatn having a sense of peace that surpasses all understanding, and the best place to experience this is in the comfort of your own home!

I’ve recently moved into a new house and have been taking a more selective approach to the items that I use to set the mood in every room. I really want to create a safe and inviting space that’s filled with love for my family. Having a sense of Zen has been the underlying theme for the way I lay everything out.

There have been proven physical and mental benefits to creating a relaxing living space, plus, you know I’m all about promoting self-care and this is yet another way that you can implement it through decor.

Here are 5 ways to make your home more Zen. 1. Declutter

There are several health benefits to decluttering your space such reduced stress and anxiety, more confidence, better sleep, clarity and peace of mind. Who knew that a good old binge could lead to such good vibes?!

If decluttering a full room seems overwhelming, start with a small space like your closet and work your way up to larger spaces; pace yourself and prepare to reap the benefits of your streamlined living space!

2. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has sooooo many benefits to your health and can absolutely enhance your living space! They can do everything from boosting your energy level to relieving anxiety and depression. I love essential oil diffusers and candles and have them in just about every room in my home.

Here are a few fragrances to consider for a more Zen space:
  • Lavender- Calming, lowers anxiety and improves sleep
  • Eucalyptus- Cleans and freshens air in the home; also stimulates the immune system
  • Lemon- Has antibacterial and antifungal poperties that are great for cleaning dishes and surfaces in the home. Can also ease congetion in the body.
3. Crystals

You can totally enhance the vibe of your space by adding crystals to your decor through the energy gemstones absorb and release. You can accentuate your space with a lamp, vase or a decorative piece that’s made of gemstones, or you can accentuate your space with just the stone itself… get creative!

Here are a few crystals to consider for a more Zen space:
  • Rose quartz-  a stone of the heart and unconditional love; balances yin and yang and has a feminine energy of healing and comfort
  • Amethyst- represents healing of the mind, body and spirit; protects against negative energy
  • Clear quartz- this tone is known as the “master healer”; it absorbs, stores, releases and regulates energy and aids in concentration and brings the body balance
4. Update your library

Bring calmness and clarity to your space by adding inspirational books to your personal library. Reading inspirational poems, quotes and other literature with positive messages is a great form of self-care and it’s sure to bring peace personally.

The more at peace you are within, the more likely that positive energy will shine through into your personal space. Some of my favorite reads include Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes, What I Know for Sure by Oprah and Neon Soul by Alex Elle.

5. Add plants

Indoor plants add a cleansing presence to your home. They reduce carbon dioxide levels, reduce airborne dust, keep air temperatures down and on top of that they look add a beautiful touch of character to your space.

If you have a green thumb add some beautiful live plants to different rooms in your home. If you’re like me and aren’t the best at keeping plants alive, try artificial plants or succulents.

What are your favorite ways to add Om to your home?

Hi B&B friends, I’m back with another beauty review and this time around I’m sharing my thoughts on the Dermalogica skin care line. If you follow this blog, then you know I’m always looking for ways to nourish my skin with quality products and Dermalogica is getting the job done!

I added this brand to my skin care collection about seven months ago. I finally took the plunge to give it a try and I’m oh-so-pleased with the results I’ve gotten since using it exclusively for the past 8 weeks.

Here are my thoughts on Dermalogica Skin Care Dermalogica PreCleanse

Guys… you know I love to pass out recommendations for  ah-mazing skin care and makeup products, so prepare to… Get.Your.Life.

This cleansing oil is the truth. When I say that you can practically remove 90+% of your makeup with this product, please believe that I’m not exaggerating! It also lifts hard-to-remove lipsticks (like my tried and tru lip stains and go-to Fall lip colors) as well as water resistant products. Of course it’s working double-duty by nourishing your skin on top of all of this.

Be sure to use this product with dry hands, and massage it into a dry face and eyes. Then wet hands as you massage the product into your skin, followed by rinsing with lukewarm water.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel

I’m a huge fan of the gentle daily cleansing gel. What’s really cool about this product is that it’s soap-free but still foams when applied and mixed with water. I usually apply this after the PreCleanse, but I have used it as my step 1 and it thoroughly removes makeup. This is definitely a top-tier facial cleanser that I recommend to people with all skin types.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

The first thing that I found unique about this product was that it’s a rice-based powder exfoliant. I’ve never used a powder exfoliant before, so I was excited to give it a try.  To use it, I wet my hands and shook a bit of the powder in the palms, rubbed them together until a slight paste was formed and massaged the product onto my face for about 1 minute. My initial thoughts: this is definitely a super-gentle exfoliant. It’s a prequel to using the facial cleanser and a great treat to your skin.

Some of its key features is it polishes skins for a brighter and smoother complexion. My fiance is even a fan. I let him use this scrub once and found it in the shower next to his grooming essentials the next day! (I swiftly removed it from said scene! He’s gotta get his own!) So, it’s couple-approved in my household!

Dermalogica Active Moist

This is my favorite product from this line. This lightweight, oil-free moisturizer is the bomb.com; I use it daily and generously. I have combination skin and tend to get very oily throughout the day, so I was cautious about applying too much to my skin. The thing that I like the most about Active Moist is it immediately soaks into my skin and leaves it feeling supple. No greasy residue or heaviness, just smooth skin with no shine.  If you have oily skin this is a must-have from this collection and like I said, I’m combination and swear by it as well!

What are your favorite Dermalogica products?

*I received free samples of this product to review. All opinions are my own.

Spring has officially sprung and I’ve added the new Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 HR Foundation and Concealer to my makeup rotation to spice things up with my beauty routine for the new season.

When I heard about the these products, I instantly wanted to get my hands on them! I’ve been focusing more on skin care these days so I’ve taken a more minimalist approach to makeup and these lightweight formulas came my way just in time.

Here are my thoughts on Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 HR Breathable Concealer and Foundation.

Anytime the season changes, I update my skin care and makeup routine to complement the weather, so these products came my way just in time. These are my first impressions after a few wears.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 HR Long Wear Foundation + Swatches on Dark Skin

This foundation is medium coverage with a high definition finish.

It doesn’t have a thick consistency like the foundations that I usually wear, but it applied smooth and gave a matte finish. (Which I love!)

It gave decent coverage throughout the day, but I don’t think it looked flawless the entire time—touch-ups are definitely needed. I recommend using a setting powder with this product if you really want to extend the wear.

I tried Mocha and Deep Mocha separately and was actually surprised by how good they looked. Because this is a medium coverage, buildable foundation, I didn’t notice an extreme difference in the shades once applied all over my face, but Mocha gave the best result.

There are 16 shades in the line and I requested samples of the the darker shades to review. I hope they come out with more shades beyond Deep Mocha, which is currently the darkest option, for the ladies with even more malanin magic because there’s absolutely a market for it.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 HR Breathable Concelear + Swatches on Dark Skin

I was pleased with the consistency and lightweight-yet-creamy consistency of this concealer, which comes in six shades, upon my first use. It has an application sponge attached that made putting it on simple, but I used a beauty blender to execute the finished look.

This concealer is very creamy and gives great coverage and has decent staying power.

These are swatches of some of the darker shades from the collection. Again, there is definitely room to include more shades here as well. My preferred shade of this concealer is 400 Medium Dark; it gave my undereye area an instant boost and as a first-time mom of a 1-month old I’m here for it, hunty!

Overall, I’m pleased with the results I got using these products and I will keep them in rotation for my beauty looks.

Plus for the awesome price of $7.99 for the foundation and $5.99 for the concealer (available at mass retailers), you are getting your money’s worth… and then some

Would you give Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 HR Breathable Concealer and Foundation a try?

This post is sponsored by Organic Doctor . I’m a part off the Mom It Forward Influencer Network and received free samples to review. All opinions are my own.

Even though I live in Florida, I always try to keep my skin moisturized, even in Fall/Winter months. Plus this is the kind of state where you can experience humidity, heat, rainshowers, and a cold snap all in the same day! So, I clearly have to be prepared!

Luckily the majority of the Organic Doctor products that I’m sharing with you were all about hydrating your skin. For those of you who aren’t familar with this brand, it’s an award-winning skincare and hair care line that recently launched in teh U.S. The brand carries 8 collections with botanical and naturally inspired ingredients from around the world.

Here are my thoughts on Organic Doctor Snail Gel serums and Muka Honey products Organic Doctor Snail Gel Facial Serum

Don’t sleep on the power of Snail Gel! It offers a new generation in skin revitalization care. Organic Doctor uses the unique secretion snails use to regenerate their shells to help hydrate and moisturize maturing skin.

This ingredient has been a game-changing ingredient for my beauty routine. I tried it for the first time, last holiday season and have made it my mission to incorporate it into my beauty routine as much as possible. I use it at least 3 times a week, even when I’m using different skincare lines.

This was my first time trying Organic Doctor’s snail gel face serum. It combines snail gel with olive leaf extract and has a slippery-yet-creamy consistency. It’s not greasy, though. You can use this product before your moisturizer in the morning and after your moisturize at night.

Organic Doctor Snail Gel Eye Serum

I’ve been focusing a lot more on my eye are these days, so receiving the snail gel eye serum was right on time. It’s created to help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and the snail secretion ingredient that it contains make it an anti-aging serum that hydrates and smooths skin. I. LOVE. IT.

Organic Doctor Manuka Honey Face Mask

My first impression of this mask was “Oooooh this smells good!”

This is a clay-based mask, but it definitely not thick in texture like a typical clay mask. I actually was a little shocked by the creamy texture while applying it and wan’t sure how it would dry on my skin. After applying it all over my face and letting it sit for 10 minutes, it dried like a typical clay mask.

My skin was very supple and soft after the first use. Use it twice weekly for best results.

Organic Doctor Manuka Honey is a nutrient-rich skin care and hair care range. I haven’t tried any of the hair products yet. The Manuka Honey is also known as the “healing” honey and is produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the native manuka bush. It’s also renowned for its soothing properties and ability to restore and hydrate dry and cracked skin. It supports overall skin tone for softer looking skin.

Organic Doctor Manuka Honey Rescue Cream

I’m expecting my first little bundle of bliss soon, and my skin has absolutely been impacted by this wonderful blessing. I definitely have a lovely pregnancy glow, but I also have had to up the amount of moisture that I apply to my skin. (Did any other moms-to-be notice weird dryness in your nose area?)

This product definitely gets the job done as far as moisturizing my skin. It is thick and creamy, so it doesn;t take much to get full coverage with a thin layer. This is definitely an absolutely amazing moisturizer. It’s recommended to use liberally as needed.

I’ve used Organic Doctor skincare products in the past (Still obsessed with the Organic Doctor Rose Otto Facial Serum) and every time I use their products, I’m always pleased with the quality of the results.

How are you keeping your skin hydrated during this cooler season?

One of my yogi friends sang a beautiful song once with the lyrics “I go to the mountains for my healing.” I can absolutely relate to this. Sometimes we allow self-doubt to become a giant in our lives, leaving us feeling small and alone. Oftentimes, it takes a departure into nature to help us see ourselves for who we really are.  Being in the presence of mountains is not only breathtaking, but it’s an awakening reminder that there is so much more to us than the things that we amplify in times of distress.

Earlier this year, I experiences the mountains of Palm Springs, Calif., and although I was on this trip for business/pleasure it was amazing to take a moment to flow through yoga and be consciously aware of and present of the beauitiful nature around me. Looking back at these views inspired me to write this post for anyone who may need a pick-me up or a reminder that you’re the ssssshhhh… I’ve definitely had to remind myself of this lately.  Never forget that you matter. Sometimes you have to look in the mirror daily and speak life into your life.

Here are 7 self-love mantras that you should affirm daily. 1. Today I affirm: I am healing through it. I know my value and trust my ability to be courageous as I move forward. – Alex Elle  2. I can accept being told no without feeling rejected. What’s for me is for me.  – Margo 3. I am strong. I am beautiful. I am enough. – Vanessa Pawlowski 4. I know that the universe conspires on my behalf. I am brave enough to accept whatever it sends my way. –Margo 5. I give myself permission to heal. No matter how long it takes. – Margo 6. I am not afraid to feel my feelings. – Anne-Sophie Reinhardt  7. I approve of myself. I love myself deeply and fully. –Develop Good Habits
