If it’s your first opportunity to take a look at this hallway and its tile floor, you’d probably think it’s just way too warped for you to be able to cross with safety. Apparently, one side is going to sink! Actually, though, that side is perfectly just flat. Yes, it’s such an impressive optical illusion.

Found at the Casa Ceramica showroom located in Manchester, England, this eye-catching, vision-fooling walkway is actually an award-winning one. Its checkerboard design has 400 porcelain tiles in all — all cut in custom. The result? A walkway that creates an optical illusion if you look at it from the front door.

So, where can you ever find this? It’s in one of the Manchester showrooms of Casa Ceramica, right at the entrance. When visitors come and enter, they will find themselves stuck in fascination! They would even pause from walking down the mind-boggling aisle, somewhat feeling fearful.

Of course, the floor appears to be melting or have melted. So, if you’re one of the passersby, you could literally feel like being in Alice in Wonderland! You would rather feel like walking, too, instead of running.

Did the designers ever think of installing the flooring just to stop visitors from running through this hallway?

No, not really. They simply want them to stop and take time to adore the grand illusion.

Well, there’s actually more to this storybook-like entrance: it has quotes! The local artist Myro Doodles received the worthy task from Casa Ceramica. So, the artist hand-painted some quotes from “Alice in Wonderland” itself, as well as from Tony Walsh’s “This Is The Place” and Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka.” The quotes (especially from “This Is The Place”) served to honor the victims of the Manchester attack way back in May 2017.

Interested? Check out this twisty hallway for a kind of optical illusion you will never forget.

The tile floor has an optical illusion that is classified as anamorphic. This means you will see the illusion from a specific perspective. And yet, you’ll witness the distortion if you try to view it from other angles.

I suppose it only works from 1 perspective?

The modern artist, Emeric Chantier, has quite a wild imagination. What he does is to imagine people as well as animals as plant sculptures — and they all look surreal. With a combination of natural elements with faux greenery, Chantier makes forms of faces with a luxurious appearance and some twigs emerging from them.

What Chantier especially attends to is the details. Yes, you can think about muscle definition as well as realistic proportions. The result? It’s as if the sculptures are real but strange other-worldly beings. Yes, unusual, but quite connected to our souls.

So, what was the artist’s inspiration? Apparently, it’s his passion for trying to imitate the looks of nature but only in miniature form. Emeric Chantier explains:

“The base of most sculptures are carved resin. They are then covered with synthetic elements and other nature [such as] flowers or roots that are painted and varnished.”

A lot is going on while Chantier is trying to go through the whole process of creating the plant sculptures. Among others, he had to go to French hillsides to fetch for himself some materials. Plus, he sometimes needs to use tweezers. What for? Well, it appears they work best to finish his sculpted work. On one instance, he had to put tiny petals on a sculpture’s cheek.

As for Chantier, his creations are his fantasies of nature. To him, these are three-dimensional representations of strong feelings.  These feelings, in turn, emerge from a seemingly innate understanding of how we relate to our dear planet.

The artist further expresses the following:

“The work is not meant to be moralistic, but challenging, reflexive, and meditative on the intrinsic link that unites the generational history of the Human with Nature.”

The creative Emeric Chantier crafts plant sculptures, making use of real flowers and twigs in the laborious but passionate process.

The plant sculptures encourage the audience to ponder about the strong connection of humanity with nature.

Because chickens also deserve an enjoyable playtime, you need to get this chicken swing and let them have all the fun they want. Being a responsible owner to domestic pets entails making sure that they stay fit and healthy. This is why it’s important to walk them and play with them on a regular basis in order to keep them physically fit. Of course, this also applies to chicken as much as it does to cats and dogs. So, if other pet owners are getting indoor playgrounds for their cats and dogs, you can also do the same for your beloved chickens.

Having chicken as a pet is the latest fad right now. This is mainly because more and more people are becoming aware of the gorgeousness of these flightless birds. Chickens are indeed taking the internet by storm. From posing as stunning models in a photobook to becoming ballerinas in tutus, chickens are now becoming the new “it” animal on the internet. Well, unless kitties can make a huge comeback to reclaim the title.

Seems like there’s no stopping the chickens in becoming the new favorite pets. As a matter of fact, pet essentials such as chicken stroller and chicken harness are now a thing. And here’s another must-haves for all chicken owners out there. This new chicken swing allows your chicken to enjoy their free range time swinging to their heart’s content. It is a swing set so there’s no need to find a spot to hang it from. Simply place it on the ground and let your chickens have the time of their lives.

According to the product description, each chicken swing is handcrafted by a Pennsylvania Amish family. The handmade swing set features white-painted wood frame and a red seat attached to a white rope. Specifically designed for chickens, the chicken swing is low enough to the ground so they can easily access it.  You can buy this swing set on Etsy. If you want to complete the chicken playground, there are also monkey bars and seesaw for chickens available for purchase.

Several baristas today are already exploring the art of decorating their customer’s latte with what you would call steamed milk art. Indeed, one of them is Korean artist Kangbin Lee. And, he can fascinate you with his colored latte art.

Taking the trend to a higher level, Lee has gone past those typical flower or heart designs. He has, in fact, stepped up to create his “cremart” (as he coins) — and they’re all incredibly detailed. So, you could say that he has a unique form of colored latte art. His canvas? It’s the foamy part of your drink. The design? Well, you could choose from several Disney characters, animals, and well, flowers, too.

One of his most gorgeous creations was Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” It was a masterpiece! When Lee created this colored latte art, it was such a vibrant representation of the original. The colors were swirling and blending harmoniously like it’s a classic. And that’s without making the drink look or taste bad!

One thing that strikes a lot of people in the process of making this colored latte art is its similarity with conventional painting.

First of all, Kangbin Lee begins with a light, creamy, and foamy base. He places this on top of the warm beverage requested by the customer. Then, Lee uses small spoons to scoop various pigments, spreading them nicely over the base. Now, don’t worry — everything here is drinkable!

Moving on, Kangbin Lee applies gentle touches here and there to move the various pigments around. His expert hand won’t disturb the other areas of the foam. The artistic barista also has a thin metal stir stick. That’s his secret weapon in terms of accomplishing those outstanding details such as facial expressions and trees. Kangbin Lee repeats all of the steps above until he achieves the image he desires. You can check out how Lee shows off his magic in the video down below.

Kangbin Lee, a Koren barista, creates colored latte art. Each one looks fantastic and quite detailed.

You might think this is Photoshopped at first glance. But, no, it isn’t. Each coffee painting is authentic.

Now, how does Kangbin Lee manage to do it? If you take a look at the latte, you might find it hard to believe that they’re not a work of Photoshop. Well, of course, they aren’t! Just take a few moments to watch his demonstration at Coffee TV. You’ll then see how his cremart is — without a doubt — real.

Here’s how Lee crafts his striking colored latte art:

What if you had the chance to build a full size LEGO Volkswagen Camper, would you?

The company LEGO has certified master makers of anything LEGO. And, two of them embarked on a fantastic journey. Guess what they did — they worked on creating a replica of one of the classic favorites among Volkswagen vehicles: the Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi. The thing had to be realistic, so it took six weeks for the men to build it.

What’s even more fascinating is that they had to use 400,000 LEGO pieces to finish the craft. The resulting replica can support two adults (in terms of weight). So, you wouldn’t find it very hard to crawl up inside. Yes, you can freely explore the retro-looking interior and take time to be amazed at the life-size LEGO Volkswagen!

Volkswagen

If you’re not that familiar with the Type 2 Kombi, by the way, it’s a passenger van. The team behind the production was, of course, very proud. And, they presented the vehicle at Germany’s f.re.e Travel and Leisure Fair. Of course, that was in honor of its classic Volkswagen camper model.

It was in the 1950s that the iconic Volkswagen camper, Type 2 Kombi, was introduced. Also, it was Volkswagen’s second model. Do you know what the first was? It’s the Beetle (which, of course, remains one of the most well-known models even to date).

For 6 weeks, two master makers worked to build a LEGO Volkswagen Camper in full size using 400,000 LEGO pieces. It’s a replica of the iconic Type 2 Kombi.

Volkswagen

The Type 2 has soon become the symbol of the 1950s and the 1960s culture, aptly coined “on the road.” The LEGO master markers Rene Hoffmeister, and Pascal Lenhardbuilt surely know these facts. As such, they have added several homey elements into the vehicle’s interior.

Here are some samples: a hot plate, toothbrushes, dishes, sink, a folding table, and a radio. Guess what — the master have crafted all these from LEGO pieces! You will definitely feel like the van is the place to live. They’ve also added some finishing touches, such as a retro work of art. You’ll also find a spiderweb hanging out on the sink. It’s kind of whimsy, but of course, that’s the point!

This full size LEGO Volkswagen camper has a steel frame weighing 1,543 pounds or 700 kg. Ain’t that massive? Plus, it has fully functioning lights and a sliding door — yes, just like the original one!

Volkswagen

There’s just one drawback, though. That is, this LEGO Volkswagen can’t drive. Despite the fact, you might still appreciate it if we told you that this isn’t the first time LEGO and Volkswagen collaborated. And, if you want to avail of your own camper, you may check out LEGO’s Volkswagen T1 Camper Van. Well, it may not be of full-size, but at least this 11-inch long version could look great on your desk! (The full-size replica, by the way, is at 16.4 feet or 5 meters long.)

Some people often take all the convenient things they have for granted. Education, for instance, may come as a tedious thing for some privileged kids. Having to wake up early and wait for the school bus, many youngsters would find this routine tiresome and such. Some would even pray for a bad weather just to have a valid reason for not going to school. But this story will make you feel bad about failing to appreciate these conveniences and privileges. In Dien Bien province, Vietnam, there’s a remote village called Huoi Ha. Every rainy season, there are strong flood rains that separate the village from the school. Without a suspension bridge to let them pass through the rapids, you’d expect these Vietnamese schoolkids to just stay at home. But it turns out that these kids are not just like most of us.

Even the most dangerous torrents can’t stop these Vietnamese schoolkids in going to school. They value education so much that they would go to great lengths just to attend class. Since bamboo rafts cannot withstand the force of the raging river, the parents thought of another way to get their children to the other side of the village. And their solution? Plastic bags.

By placing the kids inside the plastic bags, each of them are dragged across the strong stream of floodwater by grown-ups. The parents understand the risk of this transport method. But both the parents and the children are willing to take the risk for the sake of education. For these people, access to education is the only route to escape poverty. So, they would go to extreme lengths just to attain the education they deserve.

There are more than 50 schoolkids residing in Huoi Ha village. Every day, these kids have to go through this risky method just to cross the rapids and get to school. The issue caught the attention of Vov.vn, the Vietnam national radio broadcaster. And featured the article to seek help from the government in helping these Vietnamese schoolkids cross the river safely.

“Now this stream is very dangerous, my relatives usually take the children by raft but now cannot use it.”, Mr. Vo A Giong, the head of Huoi Ha village, says. “I hope that the state will invest in suspension bridges soon for people to travel more conveniently.”

Crossing the rapids is only the first challenge for these Vietnamese schoolkids. After surviving the risky crossing, they still need to walk on foot for 5 hours along a slippery forest road stretching over 15 km. Yes, they have to traverse that distance back and forth, every single day, just to get to school. Still unhappy about riding a school bus? Now, how about putting yourself in these kids’ shoes?

After Vov.vn published the article about the predicament in Huoi Ha, the Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The released the following statement:

“After receiving the press agencies’ feedback on the situation of students still in the village Huoi Ha having to carry plastic bags to cross Nam Chim flood stream to school due to lack of investment in transport infrastructure, the Ministry of Transport has instructed Vietnam Road Administration to coordinate with local authorities at all levels to check and consider this issue.”

Our home, the planet Earth, has seven continents that are divided by five vast oceans. Each continent consists of different countries. Within each country are various regions, cities, towns, forests, deserts, and other natural resources. Standing from a single point and looking into infinite horizons, we get to realize how vast our world is. But it’s a small world after all. Despite the great distances between these continents, humankind still finds a way to make connections. In order to show these connections, Nova Scotia-based map maker Peter Atwood created a series of maps to highlight the world’s interconnected networks.

Take a look at his series of maps that reveals the connections between different countries. Understanding this global network through these maps will make you realize that nothing is infinite in this world. And it is indeed a small world that we’re living in.

Cities

This map shows the areas where most people reside. Since urban areas are the most populated locations, it mostly highlights all the major cities in the world. As you can see, Tokyo shines as one of the brightest. On the contrary, some parts of Australia, Africa, and South America seem to disappear. These blank areas on the map show the least populated parts of the world where deserts and forests are mostly located.

Roads

Road is the main route of transportation on land. A road network allows connection between two or more places so people can travel to and fro by foot or by vehicles. This map shows the existing roads in the world that are paved to make any place accessible to everyone. As you can see, even the least populated areas have roads to give people access to these isolated places.

Railroads

Unlike the map highlighting the roads, this one reveals a significant disparity between countries in terms of railroad system. You can see that Europe is shining the brightest due to its plentiful and advanced rail system. Again, some parts of South America, Africa, Australia, and other Asian countries seem to disappear on the map. One reason is mainly because these parts primarily rely on road transport.

Airports

Airports allow people to travel from one country to another by air. The red dots on this map show the existing airports on different parts of the world. There are over 40,000 airports scattered all around the globe. But as you can see, US, Canada and Russia are shining the brightest on the map because they have more airports than any parts of the world.

Ports

Way back before aircrafts were invented, people used to travel to different countries by ships. Areas along the coastline served as ports for trading goods and as terminals for tourists. Since the introduction of air transportation, most people have been traveling by air. Although some people still prefer maritime transport, most ships are now being used to carry goods to and from different ports around the world.
