Have you ever wondered how to create a Facebook Fan Page? Have you ever wondered if you should even bother doing so? Well, I suggest you might want one and I have a quick tutorial on how to create one in 5 minutes.

A Facebook fan page, in all honesty, is not required for you to make money in your home based business. But, as Ray Higdon says, you don't have to dominate either!

Did you know that you are not allowed to promote your business on your personal page, per Facebook's community guidelines? Sure, people do it anyway, you do run the risk of getting your account shut down. A Facebook Fan Page is a perfect solution.

Keep in mind that as of this writing, Facebook has made it quite difficult for fan pages to get any reach or engagement in their fans' newsfeeds. Basically — you have to pay to play! That's the bad news but the good news is that you can build an audience with very little money and it's still possible to do so free but will take way more work (and really, who has time for that? Learn Facebook ads.)

Here is my short tutorial which will get you up and running in a few minutes:

How To Create A Facebook Fan Page - YouTube

So this tutorial will get you set up but you will need to have a cover photo, a profile photo and some “about” text that talks about you and your business.

What kind of fan page do you have? Should you have more than one? It is best to focus on one topic per page, but yes, you can have more than one. I don't recommend starting out with more than one until you get some experience and traction with one page….then graduate to others. A good example would be if you are in network marketing. You may have one page to promote your products and another page for business building. Which one do you start with first? Great question. It really is up to you — but since getting retail customers is the quickest way to start earning an income, I'd start with that and then work on the business building page later.

Of course, this is the basics. There are some advanced strategies, like using automated messaging, adding custom code for call to action offers, and other neat things. But for now, focus on a nice looking page that brands YOU (not your network marketing or affiliate company), producing valuable content for the page and getting engagement and likes.

And why should you have one? Because an autoresponder is one of the most important tools that can help you thrive in your business. Sure, you can get sales as an affiliate or in network marketing. Maybe even residuals. But you can't establish an ongoing relationship, provide value and up sell premium products if you don't know who they are and you don't have ownership of your list.

This is all you need to know about your List. An Autoresponder manages that list.

So here are the basics:

What Is An Autoresponder - YouTube

So now you know what an autoresponder is, how do you choose the best one? There are a lot of them out there. Quite frankly, just choosing one and getting started is most important! But there are some factors you might want to consider.

Cost

There are some services that are free – or are free for a certain number of subscribers. Most plans do have varying costs based upon the number of subscribers. So choose a conservative plan when you are first starting out than upgrade when you need to. Don't spend more money than you have to!

Integration

You will want to integrate your autoresponder with other systems that you are subscribed to. If you are in an affiliate program like mine, then there will be easy automatic integrations so that when a person signs up using their capture pages (and your affiliate link), then their email goes straight into your autoresponder. Automatically.

If you want to create a new capture page using software like ClickFunnels, then you will need to choose an autoresponder that is popular enough to be on their integration list.

Ease of Use and Customer Support

You should choose an autoresponder that is easy to use and understand. If you have questions, there should be good customer support to help you with anything you need. Some customer support is better than others.

Again, though – the most important thing to do is to choose an autoresponder and to start your list!

But if you want to know the autoresponder, I use, it's Aweber. I have always gotten good and quick responses when I needed help. It has been on the list of every integration I have needed, and it was easy to connect. Aweber is easy to use and is priced reasonably.

You can make money without using an autoresponder. But I can't see how you'd become a 6 figure or even a 5 figure earner without one.

Guess what!

I had a $1500 day!!! Yup, I beat my last record! It felt amazing — but what was more amazing was how it happened.

Long story short, I belong to an affiliate program and this program was making some major changes. They already had significantly changed the back office and improved their training immensely. No more overwhelm — if you follow the process! Anyways, they also changed their commission structure.

They offered an amazing deal (which you could get — before it expires!). If you upgrade to a Premium membership on an annual basis, your commission level will be at the top leadership level for a YEAR (even if you haven't earned that leadership level yet!).

Really tempting. Ok, yeah. I'd pay more, but I get more. AND, I earn more! AND I don't have to worry about paying my subscription fees for a year.  AND — if anyone who already signed up with me upgrades, I get an instant $1500 commission.

Turns out, I had coincidentally gotten an increase in my credit card limit which would allow me to do this.

I had an hour to decide (they hadn't extended the deadline yet).

I decided to take leap of FAITH. I held my breath and pressed that submit button. I upgraded.

Here's the thing — do I believe in myself? If I had gotten signups before, couldn't I get them again? Couldn't I, if I actually worked at it, get enough commissions to cover my membership? Do I really want to make it in this business? Because, if I do, then this upgrade is right for me. If I'm just going to fart around and not do anything, this becomes a wasteful expense that I don't need to have.

I've been working hard in the past year to get some of my results. I've had my struggles — sure — but I've been taken action way more than I ever have. And yes, I have room for TONS of improvement — but I am literally getting better every day. So, yeah. It came down to whether I believed in myself.

The next day I get an email saying that I got a commission. One of the people that had signed up with me had upgraded also. BOOM. $1500!!!! If I hadn't upgraded, I still would have gotten a commission, but it would have only been about $430. That's HUGE difference.

That's positioning.

And, it earned me a spot in the Saturday Success Story!

The work you do in the PAST will help set you up for FUTURE success. I proved that.

Think of what I could have had if I had more people signed up and then upgraded!

I got to get back to work!

A solo ad is simply an ad that stands by itself. Your ad is the only one being seen. Kinda cool, huh?

It is, of course more than that. A solo ad is an ad that is sent by a solo ad provider; someone who maintains a very large list. Your ad is simply an email sent to that list. Your goal is to get people from that list to sign up with your deal.

You can offer whatever you want: a free report/pdf/ebook/training, a low-cost product or your opportunity. Those options are typical, but they can really be whatever you want them to be! The goal is to get the people to click on the link in that email to get them on YOUR list.

Once they get on your list, you begin the process of getting them to know, like and trust you. Then you send them offers and make sales!

A solo ad is a paid strategy. Done right, it is one of the fastest ways to get leads to grow your list and make sales.

Solo ads sound simple, right?  No so fast!

They are in concept, sure — but there is a whole lot more to learn.

Watch this short primer on solo ads here:

What Is A Solo Ad - YouTube

Yeah – as you can see, there is whole lot more to learn. I bet you have tons of questions!

  • Where do you find a solo ad provider?
  • How do you choose the best one?
  • How much do you really spend?
  • How often do I do a solo ad?
  • How do I write my ad copy?
  • How do I track my results?

That course I mentioned? The one that only cost $7? All of your questions will be answered AND more in that awesome course….yes, for ONLY $7. And there is even a money-back guarantee if you don't get results! Literally for the price of lunch you can get started on your way to growing your list and making money.

I quadrupled my list (and counting) by using solo ads. Oh, and that $1,000 day I had? It was from a sale from someone who came through via a solo ad! This stuff DOES work….if you do.

Remember, I am in no way making income claims. Shoot – your offers may be different; your goals may be different. I have to say “results not typical” — and they are not. But! Results are possible if you do the work. That means, of course, practice practice practice! You may not get amazing results on your first try. Learn more, tweak, and try again. Your consistent practice will be rewarded.

Well, my daughter gave me the flu. I literally couldn't get out of my bed for 3 days.

I'm now on the mend. It took me awhile, but I'm getting back up to speed.

A part of me feels really guilty for not working on my business while sick. The other part of me says that I am super blessed to have paid sick days, and one day, my business will pay me while I'm sick. In fact, I got comments on this very blog while I was laying in bed!

Sometimes you need to let your body rest and repair itself. Your brain needs a break too.

Be kind to yourself. <3

Managing your prospects in Facebook Messenger is messy, at best. If you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, you are contacting dozens of people every day and starting up conversations. Building relationships. But keeping track of all that is a nightmare!

I am the quintessential process person. I can't stand when the process is awful – or an app just doesn't do what I need it to do! (don't equate this to being neat. LOL)  To be fair, Facebook did not design Messenger for people in direct sales or marketers. It was meant for casual social conversation.

What's the issue? Well, you are having many conversations, there isn't a way to really filter them. It's hard to follow-up with conversations that just went dormant. You can easily get lost.

Well, in conjunction to a great website that I use on a daily basis, I have solved the Facebook Messenger problem! It's called Toodledo and its literally the best To-Do app that I have ever used!

Long story short, for each person I am contacting, I add their name as a “to-do” in a folder I create just for prospects. It is a recurring task that repeats daily upon completion. I am trying to follow-up on a daily basis. What does “upon completion” mean? I'm glad you asked.

Say you create a task that starts 1/1 to brush your teeth (yes, silly example, but bear with me here). You want it to repeat every day. Let's say that you haven't been good at brushing your teeth (eww) or updating the task when you do, and today is 3/4. Ouch.

Well, 3/4 comes around and you brush your teeth. If your task repeats daily UPON COMPLETION, that means when you check of the task that was due 1/1, the task will complete and a new one will be created that is due 3/5 (which is tomorrow, in this example). If your task was repeat daily on the due date, then the task would complete and a new one will be created for 1/2.  Well, you don't care about 1/2. That day is past and gone. See what I mean? This feature is awesome.

Anyways, I digress. I just added a person's name as a task. In the notes section, I add the URL of their Facebook page. It will automatically turn into a clickable link.

On a daily basis, I can add new people to prospect. I can also follow-up with my conversations by clicking the link of the task. It will open up in a new browser page, where I can click the Facebook Messenger button. If I am on my phone, it will open up the Facebook Messenger app. If I am on a desktop, it will just open up a Messenger box.

I can start or continue my conversation. Clicking the task done, it will repeat (for the next day or whatever you set it for) for your follow-up.

You don't have to worry about cleaning up your Facebook Messenger inbox.

If you do, though, for any dormant conversation or for ones where the person didn't respond, you can archive them. If they respond, the conversation will re-appear in the inbox.

I did a brief tutorial about it here:

How to Manage Facebook Messenger - YouTube

How cool is that?

Now get to prospecting! No excuses!

Whoop Whoop! I got 36 leads! Well technically it happened between last night and today, but when I woke up this morning to check my list, I saw this:

Pretty cool, huh? Definitely feels good.

I got these leads by finally doing my solo ad! I ordered 100 clicks and got 36 subscribers. That's not too shabby! The point of doing a solo ad is to get subscribers — time will tell whether these will convert to sales. Sometimes you get immediate sales, sometimes you don't.

I changed up the copy that I did on the ad. I'm going to keep it; I think so far it's working. I'll let it run for some time to see if I'm right.

Other news? Your girl is cooking with gas! I completed all but 2 items on my DMO list!!! Now, truth be told, I get a little crazy with the to-dos and I separate tasks to check them off, but still – I got stuff done. That included all my social media postings, writing a blog post, PROSPECTING (I know!), follow/un-follow Twitter, following up….ALL OF IT.

I was so proud of myself, I took the evening off.

These tasks are taking less time to do than they used to. Part of it is me getting to be more efficient. Part of it is that ideas for content are coming to me quicker as I participate in a bunch of networking groups and I get ideas to talk about.

And I'm prospecting!!! I started chatting with a few people and I'm keeping track of my conversations. There are a lot of people who don't respond (the messages go into the “other” box), but I end up with a few conversations at the same time. I don't have a ton of time during the day to chat forever, but I'm working on a rhythm that works for me. I'll keep you updated.

Meanwhile, on the home front, we got our first (only?) delivery of Hello Fresh. We got 2 meals as a gift. Our first one was a Thai Pork Basil Stir Fry. Delicious! (even had leftovers) The meal was easy to make and it was super convenient. Expensive, though. I'm thinking this might be helpful at least a few days a week to take out the thought and planning behind what to eat, much less shopping for ingredients. This did take over a half hour to make, but it was still pretty quick.

So, the biggest question on my mind is, how often should I do a solo ad? What should my budget be? As a part-timer with little time, this looks like the best way to go…but of course it costs money.

I have to think about this.

To Your Victory,

Audra
