A Style Album is curated by two friends who love to share Fashion finds, Style inspiration & Lifestyle tips with each other. Whether it be a recently dicovered Fashion label, a must try Beauty product or a newly opened Restaurant, if they love it, they will be sharing it.
We’re big fans of comfort dressing, and as obsessed as we are with our denim, sometimes we just want to wear our Track Pants; this is the exact reason why we’ve been embracing the casual trouser for a while now.
We couldn’t be happier that it is now acceptable to wear trackpants as evening wear…
Add heels, a tee and a blazer, and you’ve got a stylish outfit with an expandable waistband! If you’re not quite ready to wear them with a heel, they’re still an excellent option for smart/casual day wear. Pair with your favourite sneakers or sliders (when it finally warms up) add throw on a Leather or Denim jacket. Adidas Originals are a cool, affordable option or opt for Mira Mikati for the most stylish tracksuit bottoms we’ve ever seen!
This week we worked with new Denim Brand IDEN on their exciting launch. We love discovering and working with new brands so when Iden approached us we jumped at the chance. We were invited to their showroom to try on the jeans and find out more about the brand plus hosted a trend talk at Fenwick Bond Street, where Iden has a pop-up for six weeks.
The Ethos behind IDEN is to produce premium denim at affordable prices whilst being kind to the environment…
They use a mix of organic cotton and recycled denim to produce their jeans with patches of recycled leather on the waistband. Plus the factory IDEN uses follows clean water processing & water recycling (it usually takes 10,000 litres of water to make ONE pair of jeans!) A denim brand that is stylish and environmentally friendly is a win for us. Check out our favourite Iden pieces below.
Em wearing the AVA Kick Flare…
I’m a huge fan of a Kick Flare jean, and I love the 70’s vibe of the Ava thanks to the dark denim & pocket detailing. This style looks great with a heel.
I‘m a real Jeans and Tee girl; most days the first pieces I reach for are my Re/Done Jeans, and ATM basic white tee (my current favourite wardrobe staples) so come Spring I like to play around with Jackets & Blazers to keep the look fresh. My favourite outfit combination for Spring? Navy, Denim & White. I don’t think you can beat this look for every-day, effortless style; So when I spotted this Navy Pinstriped Linen Blazer on mytheresa.com, I knew it would be the perfect piece to freshen up my Spring Wardrobe. Another plus is, it’s by Isabel Marant Etoile, one of my go-to brands for Parisian Chic staples. Season after season Isabel designs collections that are every bit as cool as they are stylish, pieces that women want to wear. You know you’ve bought well when your purchase fits seamlessly into your closet and instantly elevates your look.
The Shacket; not quite a shirt yet not a jacket, and the perfect transitional piece to add to your Spring wardrobe. Longtime devotees of the Army Jacket/Shacket, we thought we’d update our look this season with the perfect layering piece, and this Rose Topshop Shacket is going to the top of our wish-list. Oh and the Ganni Leopard Print… I mean!
Lou’s Fave Army Jacket will be getting a Spring update.
I was recently invited for a facial by Lumity Life; I take Lumity Beauty Supplement religiously and was intrigued to try their Nourishment Facial Oil. Now, this wasn’t just any old facial; this was a facial with one of the Beauty Industries most well-known facialists, Nichola Joss. I took full advantage and as well as enjoying a relaxing facial, I asked for some skincare tips too. Her no.1 piece of advice? Massage. Yep, you don’t need to spend hundreds and hundreds of pound on skin-care. Nicola recommends using an oil to massage your face day & night (check out Nichola’s Lumity videos here to learn the correct technique.) Nichola’s renowned Sculpting Inner facial does just that, loved by Meghan Markle
the technique addresses sagging muscles, encouraging them to sit higher and with more volume and youth…
I’ve been trying out the techniques Nicola taught me at home using the Lumity Nourishment facial oil and loving the results. Oils rejuvenate and brighten the skin, and also help smooth out wrinkles. They contain antioxidants and are full of ingredients that are natural and incredibly nourishing for your skin. I would say to be aware of your skin type; I can’t use an oil every day no matter how natural the product as my skin is super sensitive, Nicola recommended I use twice a week, however, I still try and practice my massage daily with my moisturiser.
If you buy one Investment bag this season, what would it be? A tough question. Designer bags are a massive investment, and if you choose well, you’ll still be using in years to come. We’ve both made mistakes over the years and spent too much money on a bag that two years later we no longer like/use. It usually happens with a bag of the moment, especially if you’re being influenced and don’t instantly love it, so these are often best avoided if you want longevity. We had a good think about bags we love right now and the ones we think will stand the test of time.
Lou & Em’s Bag Edit…
A Saint Laurent bag will always be a sound investment, and sometimes it’s good to keep it simple. A classic black leather tote is chic, stylish and practical.
The logomania trend is back, and we’ll continue to embrace it while Dior is designing bags as dreamy as this. It was love at first sight when I first set eyes on the Dior Book Tote Bag.
Gucci bags have always been a hit with us. Classic yet cool, it’s also good to add a pop of colour to your bag collection.
The Iconic Chanel Bag, an investment you won’t regret. These bags have shot up in price (almost a 2k price increase in 10years for the Medium classic flap) A classic that will stand the test of time.
Ok, so not necessarily a classic, but as we said, if you love it, buy it. I fell in Love with this bag last month. It’s different to any other bag I own and will be perfect for the Summer months.
This bag reminds me of a Vintage style. Gucci is an excellent brand to turn to when looking to purchase a designer bag. I owned a bag like this in the late 90’s; it will last you a lifetime.
Celine Box Bag. The ultimate investment bag. I’ve had this bag on my wishlist for many years. A bag that will take you seamlessly from day to night and looks just as stylish whether in your 20’s or 70’s.
The Goyard St Louis Tote bag is probably the most practical of them all. Wipes clean, and big enough to hold all of your necessities, also doubles up as a great Beach/Travel bag too. It comes in an array of colours that you can get personalised. No online store so be prepared to queue outside the London store.
Denim can be a minefield and confuses the best of us, but Topshop makes it as easy as possible. We’re both longtime Topshop Jean fans, thanks to the affordability, quality, and on-trend collection so jumped at the chance to pop by to their Personal Shopping department to talk all things Jeans for our latest YouTube video. Watch the video below to hear us talk about the styles we love from Topshop, including a few new ones. Don’t forget to subscribe to catch all of our Style videos.
Topshop Denim Edit | A Style Album by Lou & Em - YouTube
Em’s Fave the ‘Dree Kick Flare Crop‘. I love black denim and the crop and slight kick flare make them a great option for a smarter look.
Lou loves the ‘Straight Leg‘ from the Petite Range. I usually have to cut all my jeans so it’s great to find a pair the perfect length; just above the ankle, with a frayed hem.
We filmed an A Style Album Lookbook for our YouTube channel, taking you behind the scenes of an A Style Album shoot. We try to shoot images for the blog a couple of times a month to go with the content we create. This shoot we each wore three outfits, wearing pieces, we’d just purchased or outfits we love right now.

The simplest styling trick of all and one much loved by us both is to add a belt to finish off our outfit. We rarely wear a belt traditionally, but love to wrap around our dresses, chunky knits, coats & jackets. It’s an easy way to update your look; most of us have a belt neglected in our wardrobe, dig it out and incorporate it into your next outfit. It will give your look an edge and a stylised touch, without trying too hard, plus it accentuates your waist, win-win. Have a play around with a few different belt options, thin or thick, leather or patent, black or tan, anything goes. And if you’re feeling adventurous go for the belt bag, this seasons hit accessory, not only on-trend, it’s super practical too.
