Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Feb 18, 2019 – Feb 24, 2019:

We’ve got a lot going on this week, with the Sun and Chiron both changing signs, the asteroid Pallas Athena changing direction (going retrograde) and a Full — Super — Moon at 0º Virgo.

On Monday — just before the Sun leaves Aquarius behind and moves into Pisces — it forms a sextile with Uranus. These two planets rule opposing signs and both are at anaretic (fated) degrees, so even though the sextile isn’t generally a dynamic aspect, this is one we might want to pay attention to.

The Sun / Uranus sextile — especially in Aquarius and Aries — is great for flying your freak flag in a socially acceptable way. If you think that’s an oxymoron, consider that the Sun is tied to your life force, will and self-expression, while Uranus is tied to thinking outside the box. It is associated with being progressive and innovative, as well as broadening your range. This aspect encourages you to march to the beat of your own drum and express your own unique individuality in ways that inspire rather than shock.

The Sun moving into Pisces later that day marks the onset of a time to explore your dreams and your visions, to be more sensitive, compassionate and loving. It’s a gentle, intuitive signature that’s less interested in seeing what you can get out of a situation and more about what you can contribute.

You may be more inclined to form deep emotional connections during this time and to merge with another. You may be more accepting of the difference in people and more apt to set aside your own needs to focus on another’s.

The Pisces Sun tends to be self-effacing, self-sacrificing and altruistic. It’s romantic. imaginative and idealistic. It’s a good time to look at the boundaries (or lack thereof) that you have in place and think about how you can where you need to be adjustments. It’s time for exploring your visions for the future and taking whatever steps you can to make the world a better place.

Chiron in Aries is the quintessential gentle warrior archetype. It can manifest as a desire to stand up for those who are unable to stand up for themselves. it can also make it easier for us to see and acknowledge other people’s points of view. And it can get us thinking about taking up a cause and devoting ourselves empowering others.

With Venus conjuncting Saturn though (also on Monday) you may not be aware of your full potential right away. This transit — especially in disciplined, somber, reserved Capricorn — can see you taking a more serious look at your relationships with others. That includes the role you play in each of them, as well as where you stand with getting your needs met.

Saturn and Venus can have you looking at the glass as half full and wondering when it’s going to be your turn. The upside of this transit is that it provides incredibly clarity and gets you seeing things for what they really are. But the downside is a tendency to see things as not good enough or being too focused on what is lacking.

We have a Full Moon — a Super Moon — on Tuesday at 0º Virgo 42. This occurs at 3:53pm UT, with the Sun still at 0º Pisces.

The February Full Moon is called the Full Snow Moon — or in some traditions, the Full Hunter’s Moon, so named because it’s this time of year (in Northern latitudes) with the most snowfall, and when food was often scarce.

The Virgo Full Moon references a need to look more closely at the ways in which we have been of service, to ourselves and in our communities. In what ways have are we striving to make the world a better place, through the combination of self-sacrifice and self-improvement?

This is the essence of the Pisces / Virgo polarity, which illustrates the differences between illusion and fact. It’s about finding that middle ground between what we so desperately want to believe in (Pisces) and what has proven itself to be real (Virgo).

Also on Tuesday, Mercury conjuncts Neptune. This aspect is excellent for meditating, journaling, or any type of creative communications (songwriting, poetry, composing love letters, etc.) It’s also a highly sensitive aspect that favors getting in touch with your intuition and paying attention to your dreams.

Mercury sextiles Saturn the following day (on Wednesday). This aspect is good for making plans or ironing out important details. You may be putting a serious dent in any research you’re doing, or any scientific or step-by-step analysis. This aspect is also good for serious discussions that require you to get to the heart of the matter.

Even with Neptune still in the mix it’s a good idea to get this critical thinking done now, since Mercury’s next aspect — on Friday — is a square to Jupiter. This is more of a “throw caution to the wind” aspect, especially as both planets are disposited by Jupiter. The potential for overdoing things — as in over-committing, over-indulging and over-extending yourself — is strong. Be careful not to make promises you can’t keep or annoy or others with your outlandish ideas.

With these two planets (which rule opposing signs) in hard aspect to one another, the potential for them to be at war is indicated. But as Jupiter is dignified in Sagittarius and Mercury is debilitated in Virgo. Jupiter is likely to “win.”Even so, this is a hard aspect that brings with it the potential for biting off more than you can chew and finding yourself in hot water as a result.

Venus conjuncts Pluto — and Mercury sextiles it — on Saturday. This is a highly seductive set of aspects with the Venus / Pluto portion focusing on the urge to merge and the Mercury / Pluto portion intensifying self-expression. Don’t be surprised if a partner or love interest starts trying to get frisky with you. Venus conjunct Pluto is an alluring, captivating aspect that is known for its sex appeal and rarely fails to deliver.

The Mercury / Pluto aspect is all about deep thoughts and penetrating insights. But you don’t want to keep these to yourself. The sextile speaks of joining hands with others, and sharing information that causes you to stop and think.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Feb 11, 2019 – Feb 17, 2019:

This week starts with a Moon / Uranus conjunction at 29º Aries on Monday. This is a bit of a tricky aspect, since it’s at the final (anaretic) degree of a sign, which is generally perceived as fated in some ways. However since it’s the Moon, which moves quickly and therefore is at this fated degree for an hour or so every few days, its impact may be almost imperceptible.

There is, however, an air of rebellion and nonconformity present in this aspect. Remember it takes place in Aries the sign associated with action, energy, drive and aggression. But it’s not about fighting for fighting’s sake. It’s about fighting for something worth fighting for, rather than cowering in fear.

The asteroid Juno moves into Gemini, also on Monday. Juno in Gemini is versatile and adaptable when it comes to matters of the heart. It craves stimulation and change. It can see you getting restless and wanting to shake things up a bit.

Juno in Gemini is less about deep meaningful connections and more about playfulness and synergy. As Juno is said to be the key that unlocks the secret to finding lasting happiness (in relationship) consider that it doesn’t to always be about structure and disciplined. It can be lively, interactive and fun. These things are just as important in developing strong connections, and equally as valid.

With the Moon at that degree of Aries on Monday, we know it will have moved into the next sign (Taurus) within a matter of hours. It remains in Taurus for all of Tuesday, trining Venus, Saturn and Pluto — and sextiling Neptune — before the day is through.

While lunar aspects are fleeting, this should make for a relatively pleasant day, as the Moon is exalted in Taurus and all of the aforementioned aspects are harmonious. At this point too, the Moon joins in with Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune, to bring the number of dignified planets to five, with only the Sun and Mercury debilitated.

Mars conjuncts Uranus on Wednesday, with both of them at 29º Aries — the anaretic degree. This is a high-energy aspect that can have you feeling like you can succeed in anything you set your sites on. There’s not a lot of forethought there; it’s all action, energy and innovation. It’s moving forward in leaps and bounds, breaking through whatever has held you back in the past and pushing past limitations.

It’s also a highly volatile and potentially explosive transit that can see you drawing battle lines with those who don’t share your same political or ideological views. Mars is at home in Aries, but at an anaretic degree (not to mention conjuncting Uranus), it may behave a bit like a wild card: increasing the impulsive and erratic energy that it’s already associated with.

Mars leaves Aries behind and moves into Taurus on Thursday. Mars is said to be in detriment in Taurus, as the polarity point of one of the signs it naturally rules, Scorpio. What this means is that it’s not comfortable in Taurus, as the calm, peaceful, sensuous and slow-moving Taurean archetype is strained when filtered through the Martian natural aggressive, dynamic energy.

If Mars represents what we’re compelled to “do” — what we are willing to fight for — Mars in Taurus can frustrate that energy as any Mars in Taurus individual will tell you that they’d much rather make love than war. But with that said, this marks the onset of a six-week period where we’re likely to want to slow down a bit, stop and smell the flowers (or better yet, plant some — as this is one of the things Mars in Taurus people do best!) rather than rushing headlong into the next big thing.

Also on Thursday, the Moon moves into 1st quarter phase and Gemini. where it will remain for all of Thursday and most of Friday. The first-quarter Moon is tied to home, family, security, emotions and needs (among other things).

While Gemini isn’t particularly comfortable in any of these areas, there are plenty of positive attributes associated with the Gemini Moon. Insatiable curiosity for one thing. Playfulness for another. Wit, charm and charisma for a few more. It’s also good for socializing and interacting with others.

The weekend winds down on a much more pleasant note. This transit is always nice since Neptune is the higher octave of Venus and these two planets “holding hands (sextiling) one another emphasizes their respective influences. The sextile aspect relates to assistance and cooperation. The Venus / Neptune combination is often present in relationships that are based on spiritual, creative or altruistic notions.

This transit is excellent for tapping into your psychic abilities and can also be instrumental in creating soul connections with romantic interests. There are unconditional love aspects to the Venus / Neptune sextile but be careful: it’s also associated with escapism and self-deception, such as relationships where neither party sees the other one clearly. This transit can also manifest as co-dependency or escapism.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Feb 4, 2019 – Feb 10, 2019:

As we start the Chinese New Year — with a New Moon at 15º Aquarius 45′ on (on Monday in some parts of the world and Tuesday in others) — we may be thinking about ways usher in the properties associated with the Pig, which in Chinese lore is associated with good fortune, abundance, prosperity, and luck.

This particular New Moon is placed at the exact midpoint of Saturn and Neptune, which are currently in sextile and are also each at 15º of their respective signs. This creates what is called a planetary picture, with Saturn + Neptune = Sun/Moon. It adds a layer of compassion and sensitivity that can either be expressed through benevolence and altruism (in its higher form) or self-pity  and thin-skinned defensiveness. It’s obviously going to be preferable to strive for the former, and steer clear of the latter.

The New Moon in Aquarius emphasizes humanitarian ideals; recognizing that there’s a place in the world for all of us and that we each have something unique to contribute. It also emphasizes progress, activism and uniqueness.

It marks the onset of a period of figuring out who you are as a unique individual and what impact you want to make on the world at large.

With the Aquarius New Moon, we can expect to see people expressing more radical viewpoints and standing up for what they believe in.

This Moon is focused on individuality and personal freedoms, while emphasizing shared ideals.

By Wednesday, the Moon has moved into Pisces, forming a sextile to Venus, while Mercury semi-sextiles Pluto. The Moon / Venus sextile brings the two most feminine and receptive archetypes together, in equally feminine signs. It’s a gentle, caring and sensitive energy that may see you feeling you’re protected by unseen forces. At the same time your capacity for kindness, forgiveness and understanding are increased.

This is important because the semi-sextile between Mercury and Pluto can manifest as paranoia, intrusive thoughts or compulsive behaviors. As semi-sextiles act as instruments of transition from one sign archetype to the next, the goal should be to find ways to express the higher vibrations of each of these archetypes, which is where the Moon / Venus aspect comes in.

Mars squares the Lunar Nodes on Thursday. Planets squaring the Nodes have been known to wreak havoc, , it is said to unleash some sort of crisis, with emphasis on the concept of fate. This square is referred to by classical astrologers as “at the bendings.”  As Mars represents energy, action and drive, this can be a high energy transit that translates as combative or explosive energies.

It can manifest with people (arguments or even violence) or events (such as volatile weather and Earth changes). Fortunately there’s also a Mercury / Venus conjunction on Monday as well. This is a much more conciliatory transit, especially since Mercury is exalted in Virgo, even if Venus is in its fall there.

We have a couple more sextiles on Friday, namely Mercury / Mars and Sun / Jupiter. The Mercury / Mars sextile is great for making plans and then following through with them. It’s all about being on the same page with those you are working with and getting things done with little conflict or aggravation.

Since Mars is also applying toward a conjunction with Uranus, it’s also about being innovative, progressive and insightful. If you’re thinking about negotiating a business deal or want to get your ideas before someone who can help you turn them into reality, this is the time to do it.

The Sun / Jupiter sextile is said to be fortuitous. As the Sun represents the Self and the will, and Jupiter is the planet associated with higher consciousness and spiritual pursuits, this aspect refers to a broadening of ours minds and changing our perceptions.

Mercury moves into the final degree of Aquarius — known as the “anaretic degree — and sextiles Uranus, which is also at 29º, on Saturday. The last degree of any sign is said to be “fated” in some way, and this is especially powerful as Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury.

This transit brings flashes of insight and brilliance to the table. This is a time of tapping into your higher-consciousness. And you may be doing it without even realizing it. You might hear yourself speaking and wonder where did that come from? Or hear something that you’ve heard hundreds of times before and realize that NOW it makes sense.

This is actually an incredibly powerful combination. It’s progressive, innovative and pioneering, Don’t waste it vegging out in front of the tv. Express your ideas, speak your truth, learn something new and push your mind to its limits.

As we end the week (on Sunday), Mercury leaves Aquarius behind and moves into Pisces, a sign it’s not necessarily comfortable in but which should be a far cry less acrimonious. Mercury in Pisces is visionary, mystical and ethereal. It is very perceptive and should have you feeling more introspective and intuitive. But it’s also gullible and highly impressionable so make sure you get your facts straight before you race off down any rabbit holes.

This signature is not big on being explicit, facing reality or paying attention to details. And you find yourself being easily distracted and going off on wild tangents during this time. But the upside of a Mercury in Pisces transit is that it reminds us that we’re all floundering in the same vast ocean together, with most of us doing the best that we can. It increases compassion, sensitivity and empathy and makes us all just a little easier to get along with.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Aries: Eight of Coins

This month, you’ll be thinking about doing business and being more productive. You’ll be focusing on honing your craft and turning your skills into something you can be proud of.

The Eight of Coins is a card of craftsmanship. It can be as simple as being 100 % focused on your work and demonstrating your level of dedication and service. And it can be as innovative as taking something you’re uniquely capable of and turning it into a career.

In this version of the card — from the Joie de Vivre Tarot — a Fox in wizard’s attire conjures up a magic potion. He stands over the bubbling concoction as the cauldron sizzles and boils.

Five disks hang from the limbs of the trees behind him and three are pinned to his pointy hat. He’s so good, he can afford to take his eyes off the mixture.  But he doesn’t dare step away: the completion of this project depends on his being right there to make it happen.

The Eight of Coins is also known as the apprentice card. It refers to taking on an interest — a new one or a lifelong dream — and devoting yourself fully to it. It doesn’t have to be career related, but since it’s a labor of love wouldn’t it be great if it were? Making a living doing what we love is something we all aspire to achieve.

This card can refer to an all-work / no-play mentality. But this is all relative, as the hours that you’re putting in will likely not feel like “work” at all. Not if you truly love what you do. This is about being fully engrossed in what you’re learning, creating or developing.

Take some time this month — even if you’re still somewhere punching that clock — and think about what you really want to be doing. Chances are good that once you start seriously thinking about your options, taking steps toward making them happen will come to you naturally.

TAURUS: The Hierophant

This month you should be taking a more serious look at what you believe in and how you communicate those beliefs to others.

The Hierophant card — this version from the Cosmic Tarot — speaks of pursuing knowledge, studying tradition, reflecting on Universal laws and principles and deciding where we stand.

The Hierophant is referred to as the Pope in some decks. But it’s not only about religion. It’s about carrying the wisdom of the ancients forward. as a means of gaining a greater understanding for yourself and using it to guide others.

The Hierophant in this card is in deep thought and reflection. He’s not only in search of deeper knowledge, he’s prepared to impart it to others. He’s dressed in ceremonial garb, leading the way for those who follow. His penetrating gaze and laser-like focus are clearly referenced here.

The triple cross staff is associated with the Pope and papal authority. Keys unlocked doors (to mystery, the occult and sacred teachings) and are also said to be the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.

You could be immersing yourself in your studies this month or making plans to embark on a spiritual journey. You may also be called upon present your ideas to others — either formally or informally.

If you find yourself having to defend your views, do it in a calm, practical manner. The Hierophant’s message is not about being radical or fanatical. It’s about building on the conventions of those who’ve come before you and presenting your ideas with clarity and precision.

GEMINI: Queen of Pentacles

Now is the time to be thinking about ways to establish security for yourself and your loved ones. This means financial security first and foremost, but ties into other areas of your life as well.

Building a solid foundation in your relationships. Making sure you’re where you need to be with your education and professional credentials. Fortifying your relationships with loved ones, family and friends.

The Queen of Pentacles — this version from the Crystal Tarot — is all about security and longevity. She appreciates the finer things in life and is not afraid to work for them. But she also wants to see returns on her efforts — material and otherwise.

This Queen is not a pushover. She stands firm in her convictions and does what it takes to achieve her goals. As a strong, solid practical business woman, she’s probably weighed all her options before she’s made a move. She could be a person in your life or it could refer to qualities that you need to incorporate into your own personality.

The Queen of Pentacles is practical and efficient. She also tends to move a little more slowly, for two reasons. One, she knows from experience that practical choices are more likely to pay off than get rich schemes in the end. And Two, she wants to savor the life she’s built rather than scrambling to earn her next buck without taking the time to appreciate her gains.

She wants to be ready for the future. Notice the fall colors and foliage in this card. You could say she’s getting ready for a long cold winter and is not about to face it ill-prepared.

This month you want to be thinking about your long-term goals and what you might need to do to bring them to fruition. It may require you to make some short-term sacrifices. But what you gain in return — through hard work, discipline and patience — will make it all worthwhile in the end.

Cancer: Two of Swords

This month it’s going to be all about weighing the different options in your life, in order to arrive at an informed decision.

You may see yourself at a crossroads, such as a career-related decision, relationship, or even a long-term goal that you’ve not yet pulled together.

Whatever it is, it’s going to be important for you to step back and weigh the different options that are available to you before you make a decision.

While you don’t want to let yourself be swayed by external desires or distractions, you also can’t allow your own uncertainty to prevent you from taking a stand.

You may wish to “rise above” all of the turmoil that is festering beneath you, but as with the imagery depicted in this card, you won’t be able to completely escape it.

The Two of Swords — this version from Charissa Drengsen’s Steampunk Tarot — refers to conflicting ideals. Feeling torn or pulled in two different directions. Weighing options. Straddling the fence.

It can also refer to inaction and immobility. Sometimes this is due to fear: “What if I make the wrong decision?” But it’s just as often related to a desire to not have to choose at all. Notice that the figure in this version is wearing a blindfold which covers both her eyes and ears. She’s also underwater. It’s as if she’s attempting to mitigate the turbulence around her so she can think.

Whether you feel yourself being pulled in two different directions — between head and heart, for example — or just need a break from the chaos surrounding you, this card encourages you to take a step back, be still in the moment and reflect on what you want, removed from any external distractions.

LEO: Nine of Swords

This is going to be a transitional month for you, with just as much focus on moving toward the future (plans, goals and decisions) as there is on letting go of the past.

You may be thinking about reaching for higher goals, or aspiring to make huge changes in your life as you let go of your fears (traditionally associated with the Nine of Swords) and embrace the unknown.

This version of the card, from Marie White’s beautiful Mary-El Tarot —  is all about answering to a higher calling. It represents broadening your horizons and setting your sites on whatever else is “out there” for you to experience.

There’s a lot of symbolism in this card. From the black and white towers (competing urges) to the crashing waves (being overwhelmed by emotions) to the Hathor / Horus images overseeing it all.

You may feel awestruck by the vastness of the world around you. Especially as it allows you to view your own small problems in a new light. If you look at the tiny figure in the center of this card, you can see how s/he might be overwhelmed by the enormity of choices that are available on the path ahead.

The Nine of Swords is often associated with fear and trepidation. But there’s very little of that here. This version depicts a complete reversal of that anxious frightened energy that is traditionally associated with this card, and replaces it with awe and inspiration. There’s no question that Change is afoot. But you may be struggling with whether you want to embrace it or retreat from it.

Your goal this month should be to look at the options and opportunities that are laid out before you and decide which new path you want to take. It will involve putting your own problems into perspective, and being willing to take a giant leap of faith into the vast unknown.

VIRGO: Two of Fire

This month’s card for Virgo is the Two of Fire, the Vision Quest Tarot’s version of the Two of Wands. It speaks of drawing on your inner reserves of self-confidence and initiative to make something happen.

This could be something that was once just a dream or half-formed vision about where you see yourself “down the road.” You may be thinking of going back to school, or looking for another job or approaching someone you’re interested in and asking them out to dinner. It doesn’t have to be something big. But it can lead to something huge.

The Two of Fire asks, “What are you waiting for?” and “why are you holding back?” It tells you there’s no time like the present to put yourself out there and take at least the first steps toward pursuing your goals.

You may not have fully fleshed out your ideas. And that’s perfectly ok. The Two of Fire speaks of putting something into action that will gather momentum over time.

It encourages you to expand your horizons and reach for broader vistas. It speaks of taking a look at your long-term goals and acting on them with courage and conviction.

If you’ve been hesitating due to fear or uncertainty, now is the time to put those worries aside. You’re already seeing how some moves are paying off, and are now in a position to take things to the next level. The Two of Fire says that all you aspire to is now within your grasp; you only need to gather up the courage and confidence to go after it.

Libra: Queen of Wands

This month is going to be a time for you to think about expressing yourself a little more regally and dramatically than you’re probably used to.

The Leopard — or Nurturer of Branches — is the Animal Wisdom Tarot’s version of the Queen of Wands.  She’s strong, self-reliant and confident. She may seem calm on the surface, but as you can see in this card, if need be she will pounce.

Whether she’s trying to make an impression at work or hoping to leave her mark on the world in other ways, she has no problem making her presence known.

The leopard is known for not only its ferocity and daring but also its connection to instinct and intuition. In this respect this card can manifest for you as having a foot in both worlds.

She embodies the feminine or yin aspects of Fire (wands) energy: warmth, enthusiasm, energy and drive. She’s regal and majestic; dynamic and refined; confident and authoritative. She’s creative, expressive and passionate. She’s also very worldly and knowledgeable.

The Queen of Wands may be someone in your life, an event or a part of yourself. She may be a supervisor, a parent, a friend or even some facet of yourself that has long been dormant.

If you’ve been hiding in the shadows or downplaying some of the more expressive aspects of your personality, now is the time to step up and be seen. The Queen of Wands encourages you to get out there and put your best foot forward, in whatever capacity you can.

You can take from that what you like because it may be “fireworks” as in a passionate time for you or it may be “fireworks” as in a huge fight. Be on the look out for signs showing you which way this can go for you as the energy of Mars and Uranus will start a good week before the 14th. You’ll have plenty of time to smooth things over after the 18th, when Chiron, which is linked to healing, enters your sign for the first time since it last was there from 1968 to 1977. Moon in your love area 22nd and 23rd can pave the way for a fresh approach to your relationship.

Moon in Aries February 9, 10, 11

Taurus — April 20-May 20: You may feel as if change is all around you this month, especially around the 14th just as Mars moves in to your sign. Not only will it bring with it fresh energy and new ideas but it can also pave the way for more changes coming to you when Uranus finally moves in to your sign for good next month. These are not boring times for you. Those of you born in early Taurus will be feeling the changes now. What you can’t control, then plan around it. Venus is also trining your sign from the 3rd, allowing you to lay down the foundations of what you want in a relationship. This aspect can go a long way in dealing with anything that is out of your power to control, especially as it touches on Saturn and Pluto later in the month. Moon in your love area 24th and 25th is a great time to spend with your partner to make plans for the future.

Moon in Taurus February 12, 13

Gemini — May 21-June 21: The month starts out with Venus, planet of love, in your relationship area. This has a beneficial effect on your love life and even after the 3rd Venus will be helping you along with matters of the heart till end of the month. Mars is in your friendship area till the 14th, which means you should have a busy social life. After the 14th be aware that things can get a bit tricky for you and you need to make sure you know the whole story and not jump in to anything before you know exactly where you stand. The 8th to the 14th, when Uranus comes into close contact with Mars, is where you need to be a particularly aware of what you are doing. This combination can make you accident prone and as it occurs in your friendship area it may be that you say the wrong thing, at the wrong time, to the wrong person. Moon in your love area 1st, 26th, 27th and 28th gives plenty of scope for romance.

Moon in Gemini February 14, 15

Cancer — June 22-July 23: February will be an interesting month for you as your love area is visited by Venus from the 3rd onwards. This should do wonders for your love life. However, there are some dates to watch for. Saturn, the planet of wisdom, is also in this area of your chart and Venus comes into close contact with Saturn from 16th to 23rd. This would be a good time to look at exactly how much you are giving in a relationship and how much you are getting back. From the 22nd till end of month Venus conjuncts Pluto which can have the impact of transforming your relationship. This can be for better or worse. Decide what you want from your relationship and take action in getting in. This is not the month to sit on the fence when it comes to your love life. Moon in your love area 2nd and 3rd gives you a time to catch your breath before the real fun begins.

Moon in Cancer February 16, 17

Leo — July 24-August 23: There are some lovely trines coming towards your sign from the two other fire signs Sagittarius and Aries this month. Trines tend to mean things run smoothly and easily. For the first 3 days of the month Venus trines your sign giving you a boost to your love life. From the 1st to 14th you are also blessed with Mars trining your sign from Aries which can really give you the impetus to get things done. Lots of energy should be around you at that time. Of course, Jupiter, is still trining your sign from Sagittarius all month allowing life to flow with ease for you. Mercury in your relationship sector till the 10th allows for excellent communication with your partner so all up February is in fine shape for you. Moon in your love area 4th, 5th and 6th occurs just as Venus moves in to an area of your chart associated with your work life. Make sure you balance work and love life at this time.

Moon in Leo February 18, 19

Virgo —  August 24-September 22: Mercury, your ruling planet, moves in to your relationship area from the 10th. This puts you in a great position for voicing your needs with your partner and being heard. From the 3rd Venus will be trining your sign which should give you a head start when it comes to your love life. Later in the month, on the 14th, Mars also trines your sign allowing for any actions you are thinking to make to come off smoothly. Seems like February will be a very grounded month for you as you also have Saturn and Pluto trining your sign. The effects of all these planets in earth signs will strengthen any resolve you have in seeing through a project. They will help you stay grounded and allow you to see the bigger picture and your best way forward. Moon in your love area 7th and 8th is a particularly steady paced time for you and your relationship.

Moon in Virgo February 19 (Full), 20, 21

Libra — September 23-October 22: There’s a lot going on for you when it comes to your love life this month. Mars is in your relationship area until the 14th, alongside Uranus, and from the 7th till Valentine’s Day they are in close aspect to each other. This can trigger some heated arguments which come from nowhere. You’ll need to keep your wits about you to fathom out how things are changing around you and use your Libran charm to counter any damage. On the other hand you may find that your love life takes off with a bang, and I mean that in a good way. You have Chiron entering your love area from the 18th. Old wounds from the past can heal and you may find yourself in for a new start when it comes to a relationship. Moon in your love area 9th, 10th and 11th may be a time when you need to balance emotional highs versus keeping the peace.

Moon in Libra February 22, 23

Scorpio — October 23-November 22: Mars moves into your relationship area this month on the 14th. You may well find you are in for a fantastic Valentine’s Day with this aspect. As long as there are no undercurrents of hostility between you and your partner then everything should be very passionate. Mercury trines your sign from the second week of February allowing for smoother communication. Early in the month, from the 3rd, Venus moves into your area of communication which will help you sort out any problems you’ve been experiencing which is blocking you from moving forwards. All up February looks very interesting for you. Moon in your love area 12th and 13th occurs just before Valentine’s Day and can help set the mood for a great time. One thing to keep in mind is not too put too much focus on work during these few days.

Moon in Scorpio February 24, 25

Sagittarius — November 23-December 20:  Communication should be good for you this month with Mercury in this area of your chart till the 10th. You also have the first three days of February to continue feeling the benefits of Venus in your sign. After the 3rd Venus is in an area of your chart known for security. It will be time to look at how secure and stable your life is from the 3rd onwards. This relates not only to your love life but all areas of feeling secure, especially financially stability. Mars trines your sign till the 14th and up until that date you may be feeling a bit mischievous, especially from the 1st to the 3rd as Jupiter and Mars trine each other, and again from the 8th to the 14th as Uranus and Mars form a trine to each other. Moon in your love area 14th and 15th gives you plenty of scope to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style.

Moon in Sagittarius February 1, 26, 27, 28

Capricorn — December 21-January 20: Venus, planet of love, moves into your sign on the 3rd. This should bring with it a fresh look when it comes to your relationships. From the 16th to 23rd it is in close contact with Saturn. You may find yourself thinking twice in what you want in love and also being able to make the changes necessary to your best advantage. After the 22nd, till end of the month, Venus touches on Pluto which is a great time to put any changes you are looking at into motion. February may be a month of great change for you and with the compliments of Venus these changes should not be too harsh. Putting yourself first and doing what you believe is best for you will go a long way in acquiring the outcome you are looking for. Moon in your love area 16th and 17th is a time to really think on where you wish your love life to be heading.

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 28, 2019 — Feb 3, 2019:

This week we have one planet (Venus) and one asteroid (Vesta) changing signs, a planetoid (Chiron) moving through the last degree of its sign, and a handful of complex interactions involving personal and transpersonal planets.

We start the week on Monday, with a first quarter Moon in Scorpio, sextiling Saturn and trining Neptune. The Moon is debilitated in Scorpio but works very well with these aspects, especially since both Saturn and Neptune are currently placed in their own signs. These aspects can make for an increased desire for privacy and alone time. It’s good for getting in touch with your dreams, both literally and figuratively.

Be aware though that this combination can also deplete your energy and see you spending the day dreaming about goals rather than making any headway toward accomplishing them. But it’s good for fantasizing about the future and envisioning the changes you’d need to make in order to make your dreams a reality.

On Tuesday, the Sun and Mercury come together at 9º Aquarius 53. They conjunct at around 9:50 at night (Eastern time). This exact conjunct is called “cazimi” (in the heart of the Sun) so that its influence is said to be heightened and energized by the Sun. The last time this happened (November 27th) Mercury was retrograde, which weakened its influence, but now it’s moving full speed ahead.

Mercury conjunct the Sun in Aquarius is known for independent thought and radical ideas. It’s about being innovative, progressive,  open-minded and even a bit eccentric. It’s great for bouncing ideas off of others — especially those who might challenge you to look at things in a different way. It’s not the time though to let your tendency to want to shock people interfere with getting your point across.

The Sun is debilitated in Aquarius, as is the Moon in Scorpio, which is also void of course until the early morning hours. But it moves into Sagittarius on Wednesday, and will form a conjunction to Jupiter before the day is through.

In general, the Sagittarius Moon inspires us to think about travel, adventure, spirituality, philosophy and higher mind pursuits. It takes us out of our comfort zones and gets us thinking about how the other half lives. Add to that the conjunction with expansive, optimistic Jupiter, as we should be ending the day on a very positive note.

On Thursday, Saturn and Neptune form a sextile, for the first time since 1996. Both of these planets lean toward pensiveness and melancholy, so even with this relatively benign aspect (and the fact that both planets are dignified by sign), we might experience a period of wistful reminiscing and longing for the past.

Saturn and Neptune work well together when involved in harmonious aspect — like the 60º sextile. They can be meditative and reflective, although not necessarily inspired. It’s going to be important to look at the glass as half full rather than half empty during this time, and to find something motivates us toward action. Otherwise the potential for wallowing in misery is strong.

With the asteroid Vesta moving into Pisces on Friday, this theme could be reinforced. Not because Vesta in Pisces is particularly morose. As Vesta is the goddess of home and hearth, and Pisces is the sign associated with humility and self-sacrifice, it can manifest as feelings of inadequacy.

This would be a good time to surround yourself with with loved ones, bringing them comfort and allowing them to do the same for you. You’re likely to be more compassionate, understanding and forgiving with this transit, although again not necessarily motivated. We might all benefit some from putting our own needs aside, but we want to be careful not to lose ourselves in our efforts to take care of others.

Fortunately Venus comes along and gets us galvanized on Saturday with a trine to Uranus. This is a fire sign trine which is known for being creative, expressive and exciting. It can bring in a whirlwind romance or rev up and existing relationship without notice. Venus is in detriment in Aries, but that’s not necessarily bad — especially in aspect with Uranus.

With this aspect, it’s generally a good time to change things up a bit, especially in how you present yourself to the outer world. Remember that Venus is in Sagittarius (the sign related to optimism and personal expansion) and Uranus is in Aries (the progressive, forward thinking maverick) making this about putting your best foot forward rather than blending in with the crowd.

Don’t let your passions run away with you though, because Mars is also squaring Pluto at this time This is a high-intensity aspect, so choose where you direct your energy wisely, as the Mars / Pluto square can be aggressive and combative. This is can be a “shoot first and ask questions later” transit.

It can manifest as power struggles and hidden resentments that boil the surface when you least expect it. Find a physical outlet for your frustrations if you don’t want them to come at you from the outside. Martial arts is a good option, or any other type of strenuous exercise.

On Sunday, Mercury sextiles Jupiter and Venus moves into squares Chiron just before it moves into Capricorn. Starting with the Mercury / Jupiter aspect, this transit is great for sitting down and having a heart to heart with a loved one. It’s a light-hearted and engaging aspect that emphasizes sharing, learning and exchanging ideas. It says you can keep things interesting without going too deep; you can have playful and pleasant encounters with others without worrying about stepping on anyone’s toes.

Venus squaring Chiron is a little trickier: this aspect is more about challenges related to establishing clear boundaries and identifying personal values. You may struggle with figuring out what it is you really want and feeling deserving of it. This aspect can bring martyring tendencies to the surface. Causing you to regret or feel guilty about what would ordinarily make you feel good. And prompting you to make sacrifices that you’re likely to resent later on.

But remember, Venus is also moving into Capricorn on Sunday. This archetype understands the value of hard work, dedication and discipline. It’s also responsible and reliable — with money, in your career, in your relationships with loved ones, and especially when it comes to matters of the heart. It represents a time for getting serious about your relationships — or lack thereof. And it’s a time for taking a more practical approach to relationships, whether that means emphasizing head over heart or ticking off a checklist to make sure your partner meets your qualifications.

Venus in Capricorn is all about maturity, wisdom and perseverance. It’s also very conservative. You’re not likely to jump into something impulsively during this time, nor are you going to end something prematurely. You’re more apt to stick things out — even if the going gets rough — and to hold off on getting involved in the first place. But Venus in Capricorn is known for cutting to the chase, simplifying things and creating clarity. In this respect, it’s an excellent time for for taking stock of your relationships, your career and your finances.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 21, 2019 — Jan 27, 2019:

This week we have a planet (Mercury) and an asteroid (Ceres) changing signs, a t-square involving Mercury, Uranus and the Nodes, and a Full Moon total lunar eclipse in Leo.

Starting on Monday, we’ve got Venus squaring Neptune and Mars squaring Saturn. As these are both the traditional love planets, relationship problems are likely to be impacted, with the Mars / Saturn aspect creating obstacles and the Venus / Neptune aspect can be overly idealistic or downright delusional.

Mars square Saturn is often likened to having the pedal to the metal and driving full speed ahead (Mars) and plowing into a solid brick wall (Saturn). It can be tremendously frustrating as you’re raring to go and the Universe is putting roadblocks in your path.

At the same time, the Venus / Neptune square can translate as unrealistic expectations and wishful thinking — especially regarding romantic interests. You may have to check yourself if you find yourself spending too much time daydreaming or wondering “what if” This transit is prone to flights of fantasy and can be downright delusional. It’s not the time to put your stock in people who’ haven’t proven themselves or who have engaged in dubious practices in the past.

Also on Monday. we have Full Moon total lunar eclipse at 0 Leo 51. This is actually a Super Moon, so named because it is perigee (closer to Earth in its orbit) and will appear larger than usual.

The January Full Moon is known in Native American traditions as the Full Wolf Moon, or Full Old Moon. And because it is a total lunar eclipse (which frequently causes the Moon to take on a reddish hue), it’s also known as a “blood” moon.

The Leo Full Moon is all about honor, dignity, pride and integrity. It’s a warm, generous, creative and expressive energy that may see you feeling more confident about yourself and more indulgent of loved ones.

This particular eclipse occurs at 5:51 am UT (or Sunday evening in some parts of the world). As Eclipses are known to expose things that have previously been hidden, this can represent a time where duplicity and deception are revealed. We’re likely to have our belief systems tested and to find ourselves challenging the same in others.

Those that we’ve idolized or placed on pedestals may come crashing down as we find ourselves questioning what we may have blindly believed in in the past. We may feel the need to challenge authority and question those who we feel have misled us or duped us into believing something that turns out to be little more than smoke and mirrors.

On Tuesday, Venus conjuncts Jupiter and Mercury conjuncts the South Node. The Venus / Jupiter transit is a ‘feel-good’ aspect with the greater and lesser benefics joined together in Sagittarius. This is an optimistic, enthusiastic and benevolent transit that can see you feeling so good about yourself that others respond in kind. Those feelings of goodwill are infectious and can result in opportunities that come to you through unexpected channels.

Mercury conjuncting the South Node (and thus automatically opposing the North Node) can manifest as a chance encounter that turns out to be anything but in the end. Whether it’s a past-life connection or just someone you meet unexpectedly that turns into a significant connection, you want to pay attention.

You want to be be mindful of what you say and how you say it. Mercury represents communications and the Nodes are said to be karmic in nature. So pay attention to what you put out there as it could have long term repercussions.

Mercury next sextiles Chiron and squares Uranus, on Wednesday. This is an ongoing recurrence due to a series of retrogrades involving these three planets. The Mercury / Chiron sextile may see you becoming more aware of your own capacity for giving and for being able to put yourself in other people’s shoes. This is a charitable aspect that compels you to reach into the very depths of your soul — where compassion, forgiveness and understanding all reside — and bring forth that which is within you in order to pass it onto others.

But the square to Uranus can be disruptive, and can manifest as erratic or unstable behavior. Conflicts can erupt — from seemingly out of nowhere — in both your personal relationships and your interactions with others. This aspect pits the urge to connect and interact against the desire for freedom and independence, so could see you on a completely different page from your loved ones.

On Thursday, Mercury leaves Capricorn behind and moves into Aquarius. As Aquarius is ruled by Uranus (which is the higher octave of Mercury), this placement emphasizes originality and independence.

Mercury in Aquarius is all about thinking outside the box. Looking toward the future. And figuring out your own unique contributions to society. It’s innovative and progressive. It’s open-minded, far-reaching and can be a bit eccentric. Use this time to explore your individuality and to think of ways to let your brilliance shine.

Mars and Jupiter form a trine on Friday. This aspect brings with it an abundance of energy and enthusiasm. It inspires us to think about travel, adventure, spirituality, philosophy and higher mind pursuits. It takes us out of our comfort zones and gets us thinking about how the other half lives.

This combination is also heightened by the fact that both Mars and Jupiter are at home in their own signs.  It lends an added bit of confidence and bravado that can see you making big plans.

As we move into the weekend, we have mostly lunar transits, with the Moon in Libra on Saturday, squaring Saturn, opposing Mars, and sextiling Venus and Jupiter. While the early part of the day may be wrought with frustration, those evening transits are much more pleasant.

Sunday is similar with mostly lunar transits, although the ones in play are relatively intense. We have the Moon (still in Libra) squaring Pluto and then opposing Uranus before the day is through. In general these are volatile and potentially combative transits, although fortunately they’re also fleeting as with all aspects involving the Moon.

The Moon goes void of course early Sunday morning before it moves into Scorpio and its first quarter phase. The void of course Moon is a common occurrence; it marks the period of time between the Moon’s last aspect in one sign and its ingress into the next. It’s generally not a time to make decisions or try to nail down finite plans.

The first-quarter Moon is tied to home, family, security, emotions and needs (among other things). It’s also associated with a “crisis in consciousness,” and in this case we’re talking two planets debilitated by sign (the Sun in Aquarius and Moon in Scorpio).

Keep in mind that aspects involving the Moon are temporary and are likely to fly by imperceptibly. But that doesn’t mean these two days will be uneventful. There are still always transits in play: planets interacting with one another and blending or communicating their unique energies.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 14, 2019 — Jan 20, 2019:

This week starts on Monday with a Moon / Mars conjunction in Aries and a sextile involving Mercury and Neptune. Starting with the Moon / Mars transit — especially in Aries where Mars is dignified — this aspect is all about energy, action and adventure. It’s about being on the verge of something new and exciting, knowing that the anticipation is just as exhilarating as the adventure itself.

It’s also known for being impatient and somewhat reckless, and since the Mercury / Neptune sextile can be pretty gullible, you want to temper some of your enthusiasm with some good old-fashioned common sense.

Speaking of Mercury and Neptune, this aspect is also excellent for meditating, journaling, or any type of creative communications (songwriting, poetry, composing love letters, etc.) It’s also a highly sensitive aspect that favors getting in touch with your intuition and paying attention to your dreams.

The Moon moves into Taurus on Tuesday, where it is exalted. The Moon in Taurus is earthy, sensuous and solid. It’s calm and practical, and can be slow-moving or overly cautious. It prefers to savor meaningful experiences, much like someone would savor a meal or a bottle of fine wine.

This also brings the number of planets in dignity to five, joining with Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune which are all in their home signs. The Moon only makes harmonious aspects that on this day, with a trine to Saturn, sextile to Neptune and trine to Mercury before the day is through.

Wednesday is much the same, with the Moon continuing through Taurus, trining Pluto and the Sun and sextiling Chiron before it goes void of course later in the day. Any aspects involving the Moon are temporary are likely to fly by almost imperceptibly. But that doesn’t mean this period of time will be uneventful. There are still always transits in play: planets interacting with one another and blending or communicating their unique energies.

The void of course Moon is a common occurrence; it marks the period of time between the Moon’s last aspect in one sign and its ingress into the next. It can see you feeling aimless or adrift in a sea of uncertainty, but in this case it’s only there for a few hours: from about 6:30 pm UT until 1:00 am on Thursday, when it moves into Gemini.

Also on Thursday, the Sun conjuncts the moon’s South Node, which means it simultaneously opposes its counterpoint, the moon’s North Node. This transit infers that people you encounter during this time will challenge you to grow karmically, either because of past life ties or because they are facilitators this time around for whatever karmic lessons you’re facing.

Venus trines Mars and Mercury conjuncts Pluto on Friday. Starting with the Venus / Mars transit, this combination brings love and romance to the forefront. This transit is all about going with the flow and staying in sync with your loved ones. It’s good for attracting new people into your life and for collaborating with others.

As this a fire sign trine, the energy is more ardent and passionate, but the emphasis is on collaboration and cooperation rather than resistance. But that doesn’t mean you’ll be engaging in frivolous conversations or meaningless small talk; the Mercury / Pluto conjunction is more about connecting on a deeper more intimate level.

This transit can also increase your desire for privacy, and can see you wanting to play things closer to the vest. One positive aspect of this transit — among many — is the urge to get to the bottom of things, leaving no stone unturned.

The Sun squares Uranus and sextiles Chiron on Saturday. The Sun / Uranus square can bring out the rebel in you and everyone around you.  This aspect pits the ego / will energy associated with the Sun against the rebellious / antagonist Uranian impulse. It can create friction, especially if you sense that someone is trying to tell you what to do or how to act.

This aspect can be defiant and combative so if you’re dealing with someone who’s acting like an unruly teenager, your best move is going to be to completely disengage. This aspect likes to go against the grain so be sure you’re really invested in whatever cause you’re devoting yourself to and not just doing things for shock value.

The sextile to Chiron can soften some of this energy as it opens us up to the pain and suffering of others that we may normally overlook. It brings compassion and understanding to the forefront and can make it a little easier to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes.

As we end the week (on Sunday), the Sun leaves Capricorn behind and moves into Aquarius. The Sun (ego, will, Self, etc.) moving into Aquarius — the sign associated with the Water Bearer, known for pouring wisdom, progress and humanitarian ideals into the collective unconscious — inspires us to start marching to the beat of our own drums, to think outside the box and to take the roads less traveled.

The Sun in Aquarius represents a time when the Ego is introduced into the collective and we start seeing ourselves as part of something bigger — bigger than our homes, families and cities. Bigger than our states and countries. We see ourselves as unique individuals — a tiny and potentially insignificant microcosm — in a much larger and more significant macrocosm, known as humanity.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 7, 2019 — Jan 13, 2019:

We start this week with Venus at the last degree of Scorpio, which means it’s also void of course and at a fated (anaretic) degree. To add insult to injury, Venus is in detriment in Scorpio, which opposes the sign it naturally rules (Taurus). At the time, it’s at its greatest eastern elongation: in other words at its brightest and most visible in the early morning sky.

Venus leaves behind Scorpio and moves into Sagittarius (on Monday), where it will remain until February 3rd. As Venus is tied to “love” and Sagittarius likes to see the world as its playground, this is a good time to think about expanding your horizons in the romance department. Whether this is with a love interest or all by yourself (in your quest to find love), now is the time to look past your immediate environment and explore what else is out there.

If you’re in an established relationship, this is a good time to think about booking a romantic cruise or taking a course together. If you’re single you might think about what you can do to round out your life experiences, in anticipation of your next great love. Overall the Venus in Sagittarius transit is good for travel, spiritual or philosophical pursuits or going off on a wild adventure. When it comes to ticking things off on your bucket list, Venus in Sagittarius says “the sky’s the limit.”

On Tuesday, Mercury squares Mars. This transit suggests that communications may be tempestuous so consider taking a breath and count to 10 before you speak — especially if what you say can come across to others as angry or abrasive. Mars in Aries can be abrasive and abrupt anyway, and Mercury in Capricorn doesn’t like to mince words.

It can manifest as harsh words, confrontations, temper tantrums and impatience. And it can also be careless and / or reckless which translates to “accident prone.” Watch your step during this transit, in more ways than one.

The Moon in Aquarius joins in on Wednesday, at the midpoint of Mercury and Mars, which in turn creates a planetary picture. In general, the Moon in Aquarius is innovative, insightful progressive. But it can also be rebellious and provocative. While its known for thinking outside the box, it’s just as famous for stirring the pot, which as part of the the Moon / Mercury / Mars planetary picture it’s more likely to do.

Over the next 24 hours, you may encounter some very opinionated people, or you may find yourself getting a little more rigid about your own progressive ideas. It’s a good time to think about marching to the beat of your own drum, but try to tone down any inclination to be rebellious or defiant.

At the same time, we now have four planets (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune) all in their own signs, and at least for the next two months (when Mercury next goes retrograde) all planets are in direct motion. Thursday’s Pisces Moon forms aspects to Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune before the day is through.

This is a very feminine and rather other-worldly Moon placement, made all the more so by these aspects, especially the conjunction to Neptune late in the day. The Moon / Neptune conjunction in Pisces is loving, compassionate, creative and highly impressionable. It can increase psychic awareness and make you more susceptible to outside influences. It’s mystical and ethereal, but can also be incredibly naive.

On Friday, the Sun conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. This transit brings ego and will (the Sun) together with power and passion (Pluto). You can get a lot accomplished with this combination. It’s ; you can coerce others to see things your way or even to do your bidding for you. Because this conjunction is in Capricorn — the sign associated with discipline, pragmatism, ambition and authority — this transit is excellent for taking the reins and flexing your leadership muscles.

The downside of this aspect is the potential for it to come across as forceful or domineering. Keep this in mind as you can use it to delegate responsibility to others as long as they admire and respect you (the Sun). But you can also contribute to any resentment or hostility (Pluto) that’s already brewing or floating around in the ethers.

On Sunday, Mercury conjuncts Saturn and Jupiter squares Venus. This combination is a bit tricky as the first portion of it (Mercury conjunct Saturn) is somewhat pessimistic and morose, while the other portion (Jupiter square Neptune) is both irrepressibly idealistic and potentially delusional.

Mercury / Saturn aspects — especially the conjunction in cautious, reserved Capricorn —  are focused and disciplined. They’re good for making plans or ironing out important details. You could be putting a dent in any research you’re doing that involves scientific or step-by-step analysis.

With this transit, you may feel impatient with those who want to engage in casual or superficial conversation. Mercury / Saturn is more interested in serious discussions. But at the same time — with Jupiter squaring Neptune — there’s an urge to break through the monotony and ponder more spiritual or philosophical pursuits. While there is a potential to become disenchanted or disillusioned with the combination of these aspects, your best bet is to find a middle ground and get these seemingly-divergent energies working together.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Aries: The Sun

This month, as your ruling planet (Mars) leaves Pisces behind and moves into your sign, you could be feeling like you’re finally getting your mojo back. You may also be feeling more energetic and alive.

With the Sun in your face and the Wind in your hair, you should be feeling a renewed sense of vitality, enthusiasm and anticipation for the path that’s laid out before you.

The Sun card refers to a period where things seem to be going well for you; or maybe it’s just that your attitude has you focusing on what’s right in the world for a change.

You’re optimistic about the future: perhaps you’ve made New Years resolutions that you expect to keep this time around. Or you could be doing better financially, feeling better about your health, or seeing your relationship in a new light.

In this version of the card (from Robin Ator’s Prairie Tarot) a young boy rides bareback through a field of sunflowers. The Sun shines brightly in the sky while the horse trots along at a steady pace. The sunflowers line the path beside him, each stretching up to bathe in the Sun’s light.

He’s clearly in his element here. So comfortable is he on the back of his horse that he doesn’t even need a saddle or reins (or shoes for that matter). His hat is long gone. This is one of the best versions of the Sun card ever. You can just feel his exuberance and you know he’s on the right path.

Along with the happy, fearless and adventurous energy in this card, there’s also a childlike wonder and exuberance. Keep this idea of “reinventing yourself” alive (especially as Uranus turns direct in your sign this month too)  and you can’t go wrong. The emphasis on freeing yourself from worldly burdens and concerns can go a long ways toward achieving your goals.

TAURUS: Three of Staffs

Your card this month — the Three of Staffs from the Alchemical Tarot, is all about preparation, motivation and expectation — and pretty much in that order. This is the “nothing ventured, nothing gained” card, especially with respect to your long-term goals.

With five planets (as well as the New Moon solar eclipse) occuring in your 9th house, this should be a time for thinking about expanding your horizons. It’s not about standing on the sidelines and waiting for your ship come in. It’s about laying the groundwork for an important project or venture, and the satisfaction that comes with seeing initial results.

The Three of Staffs — Wands in some decks — speaks of sailing off toward new horizons and moving away from what has felt comfortable and routine.

It involves taking risks and being willing to put yourself on the line — knowing with every fiber of you’re being that you’re headed in the right direction.

If you look at the imagery in this version of the card, you can see that it’s not going to be all smooth sailing. You may come upon some choppy waters which will either propel you forward or cause you to capsize.

But this small boat is sturdy and seems to have no problem navigating toward its destination. Notice the red sail — action, energy, movement — and the small “eye” on the hull. Also note that one of the three staffs serves as a mast, reminding us that the boat couldn’t sail without it (or you).

You won’t be able to just stand back and watch it sail. The Three of Staffs says that you’re a part of the process and that your ultimate success (or failure) is almost entirely in your hands.

As you move toward your destination consider the other two Staffs standing as beacons on the shoreline. The fertile shores suggest that you’re moving toward greener pastures. And the Staffs themselves — in three different sizes — remind you that success comes in stages and each small step moves you closer to realizing your goals.

GEMINI: Ten of Coins

This month — with five planets — and the New Moon — moving through the area associated with joint resources for you, you may be planning for your future, especially with respect to your security and financial stability.

The Ten of Coins — from the The Artist’s Inner Vision Tarot — is about building your empire, on whatever scale that might be.

It’s about achieving success through hard work and determination, as well as the satisfaction that comes with knowing that it’s all going to pay off in the end. Not just for you but for family and loved ones, as this card is also about creating a legacy that can be built on for generations to come.

In this version of the card a pair of hands reach out toward the planet earth — representing openness and readiness to partake in all of the riches the Universe has to offer.

The hands are a reminder of the give and take that is such a necessary part of achieving success, as we all know that no one gets their alone. Notice how the earth’s energy field / aura glows where the hands touch it.

The words “abundance” and “prosperity” are written on the card, with the word “be” stamped on the palm of one hand and a coin in the other. These are reminders that fulfillment comes from not just monetary gain but also community and global support.

The Ten of Coins is about establishing a lasting legacy for yourself and your loved ones. It’s about planning ahead for the future. No matter how successful you are already there’s more to be done, especially as it pertains to creating something that will live on long after you’re gone.

You could be thinking of starting a family or putting money aside for children you already have. You may be in the process of giving birth to something else — a business, a creative endeavor or a body of work. Whatever it is, know that this is something you want to be proud of, so put the extra energy into making sure you do it right.

Cancer: Five of Cups

You may be dealing with relationship issues this month that force you to face some difficult realities. You could be struck by a sense of discontent and disillusionment over what once seemed like a “magical” union but is now developing cracks. Misunderstandings or miscommunications can abound, sending you hurdling back to earth and back to the reality of your situation.

Look at the imagery in this card (the Five of Cups from the Mary-el Tarot). We see a mythical Unicorn seated atop an old-fashioned wishing well. At first glance it looks like something you’d expect to come across in a fairy-tale. But if you look closer, you can see that the Unicorn is not seated at all. He’s trapped in the well and has been hobbled, immobilized by his unfortunate circumstances.

The water flowing from the sides of the well has slowed down to a trickle. He looks away from the set of withering vines on the left and toward those that are lush and plentiful on the right. The skeleton key symbol over his heart is reminiscent of the astrological glyph used for Greek Mythology’s wounded healer, Chiron.

How might this imagery apply to you? And what can you learn from the circumstances that make this card now relevant in your life?

The Five of Cups can refer to heartache, disillusionment and lost love. You could be stuck in rut, reeling from a rejection or coming to terms with a relationship that was never meant to be. You may also—just like the Unicorn in this card—be refusing to see what no longer sustains you. There is as much danger in not learning from your mistakes as there is in focusing only on what might have been.

But there are positive aspects of this card as well. There are messages to be unraveled and lessons to be learned. Perhaps the “wounded healer” aspect provides you with an insider’s understanding of what it’s like to hurt, to be alone, and to be denied the very thing you’ve so desperately wanted.

Your heartache becomes a powerful conduit for healing. It can also become a gift that you pass onto others: the gift of empathy. Your own experiences lead to a deeper understanding of what others may be dealing with, and can translate into compassion, understanding, forgiveness and unconditional love.

LEO: The Moon

Your card this month honors the total lunar eclipse that takes place in your sign just as the Sun moves into Aquarius on the 21st. This is a Full Moon eclipse, and not just any full moon, but a Super Moon to boot.

This is the Moon card from the beautiful Ceccoli Tarot. From an astrological perspective, the Moon is tied to feelings, emotions, intuition and primal instincts, as well as the unconscious mind. It relates to security issues and needs which can translate to insecurity, uncertainty, fears and apprehensions. These are all emphasized in the Tarot’s version of the Moon.

It can manifest as confusion, uncertainty or paranoia, especially when we try to analyze it logically, which is foreign to the Moon. Just as we can’t fully appreciate the beauty of the Moon in the light of day (consciousness), we struggle to grasp its archetypal meaning through the lens of reason.

Eclipses first hide and then expose the deepest, darkest regions of the unconscious via the shadow of the Earth crossing over the Moon. But none of us are left in the dark. Whatever has been hidden or repressed is revealed again as the Moon re-emerges with newfound clarity.

This card speaks of the need to get in touch with your emotions. Even the deeper, darker, scarier emotions, the “Shadow side” of you psyche, the part that so many of us deny or ignore.

It’s related to mystery and the unknown, all that is hidden and that lies beneath the surface. This is the realm of the unconscious: that which is churning beneath your awareness and which often translates externally as anxieties, suspicions and fears. This card forces you to face those fears and do what needs to be done to overcome them. It brings what has been hidden to light and encourages you to embrace change.

You can quiet your fears by reminding yourself that you won’t be left permanently in the dark. The Moon Card reminds us that things are still “up in the air” and that the future has not yet been written. There’s still much to do and still time time to achieve the outcome you desire. You can work on curtailing some of the more harrowing elements (doubt, fear, suspicion and paranoia) and tap into the more uplifting aspects (intuition, perception, sensitivity and discernment) instead.

VIRGO: Knight of Pentacles

With five planets — including your ruler and the New Moon — moving through Capricorn this month, you might be thinking about pursuing your goals with more dedication and dogged determination than ever.

If you’re thinking about ways to increase your income or conserve the income you already have, it’s a good time to get an early start. The Knight of Pentacles speaks of working hard and making money, as you proceed toward ultimate success.

But this card is not just about about making money. It’s about preserving your resources while maximizing your potential so that you’re always at least one step ahead of the game.

This is the essence of the Knight of Pentacles. Taking advantage of opportunities as they present themselves so that you’re always working toward your goals. It’s that unique combination of instinct and strategy that guarantees your success.

The Knight of Pentacles doesn’t just sit back and wait for success to fall into his lap. He knows that it takes hard work and discipline to reach his goals. He’s willing to do what it takes — not matter how long it takes — to get to where he needs to be.

There may be “mysterious forces” at work here too. Notice the Knight’s stallion in this card from the beautiful Prisma Visions Tarot. It’s not a stallion at all, but a magical unicorn feasting on the giant berries that flourish at its feet. And the tree is etched with colorful esoteric symbols. Call it luck or call it fate, there are indications here that you’re able to align yourself with unseen cycles and trends.

Whether you’re working on generating more income, saving for the future or paying down debts, you can make a lot of headway toward securing your financial independence. The spirit of adventure is not lost here: it’s still a big part of this process. But it’s the foresight and efficiency with which you go about achieving your goals that makes them so achievable in the end.
