Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro May 20, 2019 – May 26, 2019:

We start this week on Monday with Saturn conjuncting the South Node at 20º Capricorn 12.  As the Moon’s Nodes are always naturally in polarity  — and thus always in opposition to one another — Saturn simultaneously opposes the North Node during this time as well.

This is can be a particularly meaningful transit — personally and universally — as Saturn and the Nodes are tied to both the passage of time and the concept of fate. You want to pay attention to people coming into your life during this time as they’re likely to play a role in facilitating your growth.

You also want to be mindful of your actions (and reactions) regarding love interests and relationship partners.  Saturn may force you to re-evaluate your needs and expectations, as it can manifest as a series of roadblocks that seem impossible to overcome. The Nodes are tied to karma — both the reaping and the sowing of karma — which makes having an awareness of your own contributions so much more important.

On Tuesday. the Sun and Mercury leave Taurus behind and move into Gemini. They conjunct at around 2 in the afternoon (Universal time). This tight conjunction — called Cazimi — refers to a planet being “in the heart” of the Sun, or so close in orb that it becomes a part of it. This is a powerful conjunction, and at 0 degrees is infused with the Mercury’s natural rulership over Gemini. Sudden flashes of insight and awareness are possible so pay attention to your thoughts and ideas during this time.

The Sun’s ingress into Gemini marks the onset of a 28+ day period when our collective focus shifts toward communications and ideas. It’s heralds a time of increased socializing and interacting with others. It’s a good time for exchanging information and bouncing ideas off of others.

The Sun in Gemini is resilient, adaptable, restless and changeable. It’s also very easily bored. It’s the consummate multi-tasker, perpetually interested in gathering facts and learning new things. Gemini is a neutral / androgynous energy. It’s a masculine, mutable air sign, known for its wit, charm and seemingly-endless assortment of random information.

Mercury in Gemini is curious, playful, clever and engaging. It’s interested in many things but is easily distracted and quick to lose interest. It’s quick-thinking but can also be tangential. It’s interested in gathering facts and information, even seemingly meaningless trivia. Mercury in Gemini is great for interacting with others, and for taking care of menial chores — in fact the more menial the chores the more opportunities there will be to do what Mercury in Gemini does best. Juggle several different things at once.

Wednesday’s Mars / Uranus sextile is a high-energy aspect that can have you feeling like you can succeed in anything you set your sites on. There’s not a lot of forethought there; it’s all action, energy and innovation. It’s moving forward in leaps and bounds, pushing past limitations and breaking through whatever once held you back.

Sextiles are creative and conciliatory. They involve planets in complementary signs, ie earth and water (as is the case with the current Uranus / Mars interaction) or fire and air (as is the case with Thursday’s sextile between Mercury and Chiron). But where the Uranus / Mars aspect is dynamic and energetic, the Mercury / Chiron aspect is more introspective and reflective.

Mercury sextile Chiron is incredibly empathic. It makes it easier for us to convey our views to those who seem resistant. It can ease the transition between dissent and acceptance, making it not only okay to disagree but a welcome departure. This transit opens up the pathways toward acceptance and understanding.

Chiron features prominently for the rest of the week too, with a square from Mars on Friday and a sextile from the Sun on Sunday. The square to Mars can be challenging: it can see you fighting against the urge to put your own needs aside in favor of the “greater good.” While that might seem like a valid endeavor, it can also skew your perceptions and see you fighting for something you may not believe in after all.

As Mars is out of bounds and debilitated by sign, it may behave a bit like a wild card here: increasing the impulsive and erratic energy that’s already associated with Mars. It’s a highly volatile and potentially explosive condition that can also see you drawing battle lines with those who don’t share your same political or ideological views.

Fortunately by the end of week we’re back to a calmer, gentler Chiron transit, with a sextile to the Sun on Sunday. This aspect can soften some of that combative Mars energy, as it opens us up to the pain and suffering of others that we may normally overlook. It brings compassion and understanding to the forefront and can make it a little easier to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of May 13, 2019 – May 19, 2019:

This week starts with the Sun inconjuncting Jupiter on Monday. This is a feel-good aspect that can be overly dramatic and inclined to go over the top. It can see you feeling so expansive and gregarious that you end up biting off more than you can chew or promising more than you can deliver. The combination of enthusiasm and benevolence can get you thinking you can do more than you really can. And while your heart may be in the right place, your inability to follow through can get you into hot water.

This aspect is known for over-indulging, over-extending and over-committing. In other words overdoing everything. You may be feeling so jovial and so overconfident that you have a hard time reigning in it and exercising any real discipline.

On Tuesday, the Sun trines Pluto and Venus sextiles Mars. The Sun / Pluto aspect is all about harnessing your personal power and channeling it in productive / transformative ways. It’s excellent for business and financial matters since both of these planets are in Earth signs. It can also be used to make positive changes in yourself — as in how you wish to present yourself to the outer world and how you want to be perceived.

The Venus / Mars sextile brings love and romance to the forefront. Even though both of these planets are debilitated by sign, this transit is all about going with the flow and staying in sync with your loved ones. It’s good for attracting new people into your life and for collaborating rather than putting up resistance.

On Wednesday, Venus leaves Aries — the sign of its detriment — and moves into Taurus — the sign of its dignity, where it will remain for the next 3-1/2 weeks. Venus in Taurus is calm, gentle, patient and sensuous. In keeping with the above-mentioned recommendations, this is an excellent time to do landscaping, plant your garden or create a beautiful flowerbed. Venus in Taurus wants to surround itself with beauty and to indulge all five senses.

This is a good time to take a cooking class, visit a winery, redecorate your house, doing energy work or getting in touch with your physical body, through yoga, massage, pilates, etc. As both Venus and Taurus are also linked with money, it’s a good time to think about saving or investing, keeping in mind that the cautions against spending (especially on high-dollar purchases) during this time.

Mars moves into Cancer on Thursday, just as Mercury sextiles Neptune. Mars is debilitated in Cancer, the sign opposite its exaltation (Capricorn). It can be moody, temperamental and irritable. It can also manifest as passive-aggression. But as with all weak planetary placements, there are also some wonderfully favorable aspects: in this case a motivation (Mars) toward empathy, nurturing and caring for others.

Because Mars is also currently out of bounds, you want to be on the lookout for erratic behavior from others during this time. You want to stay centered and not allow your buttons get pushed. Or at the very least recognize the importance of not taking things personally.

The Mercury / Neptune sextile can hopefully soften some of of that erratic Martian energy. This aspect is is excellent for meditating, journaling, or any type of creative communications (songwriting, poetry, composing love letters, etc.) It’s also a highly sensitive aspect that favors getting in touch with your intuition and paying attention to your dreams.

With Mercury trining Saturn (and the South Node) the following day — on Friday — you should be able to put some of that creative intuition to good practical use. It’s a good time to make plans and to assess progress that’s already been made. These trines are both productive and disciplined, so if you want to get something done now is the time to do it.

Mercury / Saturn is focused, rational, ambitious and goal-oriented. Bring them together in a harmonious 120 degree angle (trine) and you’ve got a fantastic recipe for success. And this is serious business: you may not feel like putting your party hat on, but you can get a lot accomplished.

On Saturday, there’s a Full Moon at 27º Scorpio 38. It’s called the Full Flower Moon in Native American traditions, a reference to the abundance of flowers that bloom during the month of May.

The Full Moon provides an overview of the progress you’ve made since its New Moon counterpoint in April. Seeds that were planted then will surely have sprouted; do you need to make adjustments or change your course entirely? Now is the time to think about what you’ve accomplished and where you want to go from here.

As Full Moons are said to shine a spotlight on areas in your chart that are affected (by house position and contacts to other planets) you might look to your own natal chart to see where this will play out for you.

Also on Saturday, Mercury trines Pluto and Venus conjuncts Uranus. Starting with the Mercury / Pluto trine, this aspect is good for digging in deep and ferreting out information that can solve some of your more perplexing emotional responses. It’s good for doing research and looking for hidden clues. It’s also good for deep, soulful, meaningful conversations that get to the heart of the matter.

The Venus / Uranus conjunction is more about establishing your own unique role in relationship. It’s about forging your own path and defining your own concept of relationship, without worrying about status quo expectations. Especially because this conjunction occurs in fiery, passionate and pioneering Aries.

It can bring someone new in, too — a sudden attraction to someone who goes against “type” and can manifest as love at first sight whirlwind romance. Venus and Uranus together can be exciting but somewhat erratic. So stay in the moment rather than projecting any long-term ideals onto a relationship that ignites during this transit.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of May 6, 2019 – May 12, 2019:

We start this week on Monday, with Mercury moving into Taurus, joining Uranus, the Sun and Moon. Mercury in Taurus is patient, practical and serene. It can be slow and methodical, mainly because it doesn’t see the point in getting its feathers ruffled over things that are likely to iron themselves out over time.

With all these planets in Taurus, you’re more likely to be thinking a lot about your finances, your income, earnings and savings. It ‘s also a good time to look at changes you want to make in your environment (such as home renovations or landscaping) as well.

As Taurus is a fixed, feminine earth sign, it’s a good time to think about our value systems, the things that we hold near and dear, which as most of us know by now are not always “things.” We can [put good use to this energy by thinking about what is most meaningful for us, and what we can do to cultivate it during this time.

There’s a fixed t-square falling into place on Tuesday, involving Venus, Saturn and the North and South Nodes. Venus is the focal planet of this aspect (squaring both Saturn and the North / South Nodes). On its own, Venus square Saturn is far from pleasant. It can have you confronting your own inadequacies. It can magnify self-consciousness and inhibitions, leaving you feeling uncertain about your own self-worth.

This can lead to misunderstandings or an overly sensitive response to an external event — such as a harsh word or criticism that hurts your feelings. This is not the best time to “put yourself out there” as the combination of these two aspects can magnify your own insecurities and leave you reeling with self-doubt.

The square to the Nodes is called “at the bendings” by classical astrologers, and refers to a period of crisis with emphasis on the concept of fate. As Venus represents romance and relationships (among other things, such as money, personal values and beauty / aesthetics) this can translate as problems identifying with these areas.

It can also manifest as feeling backed into a corner in relationship or being forced to choose between love and something (or someone) else. Feeling like it’s time to update your wardrobe, hair, fashion sense or psychical appearance. Being dissatisfied with what you have going in there areas, with the understanding that you need to make changes.

Although Venus is in mutual reception with Mars, they’re also both debilitated by sign. So while a mutual reception tends to bolster the positive attributes of the planets involved, the potential for that in this case is greatly diminished.

Mercury conjuncts Uranus on Wednesday. This transit is great for brainstorming and thinking outside the box. It’s about innovation, progress and change. Radical ideas and flashes of brilliance.

As the higher octave of Mercury, Uranus is also tied to flashes of genius and insight. It’s inventive, progressive and forward thinking. It relates to expressing your own personal opinions (in contrast to Mercury’s penchant for absorbing facts and ideas that have been gathered from other sources).

This transit brings flashes of insight and brilliance to the table. This is a time of tapping into your higher-consciousness. And you may be doing it without even realizing it. You might hear yourself speaking and wonder where did that come from? Or hear something that you’ve heard hundreds of times before and realize that NOW it makes sense.

Venus trines Jupiter and squares Pluto on Thursday, while the Sun sextiles Neptune. The trine to Jupiter is optimistic, enthusiastic and benevolent, and can see you feeling so good about yourself that others respond in kind. Those feelings of goodwill are infectious and can result in opportunities that come to you through unexpected channels.

The Sun / Neptune sextile can increase your sensitivity to outside influences and leave you feeling more susceptible to psychic impressions, but the Venus / Pluto square can rain on your parade, especially if you’ve been dealing with conflict in your relationships.

Venus is debilitated in Aries, and the hard aspect (square) to Pluto can exacerbate tensions.Problems that have been simmering beneath the surface can come to a head and force you to confront your relationship problems head on.

This is not the time to deliver an ultimatum or back someone into a corner. This transit can be volatile and can lead to actions and decisions that can’t be taken back later. Choose your relationship battles wisely during this time — or better yet choose not to do battle at all.

On Saturday, the Sun trines Saturn and the South Node (which means it simultaneously sextiles the North Node). The Sun / Saturn aspect is focused, rational, disciplined and productive, so if you want to get something done now is the time to do it.

The Nodal aspects can bring new people into your life who feel familiar and who can be instrumental to your evolutionary process. These trines are karmic in nature, meaning that the people you meet during this time are here to propel you toward your destiny — and vice versa. Your actions and interactions can have far reaching repercussions so make sure you treat the people you meet during this time (and all times) with dignity and respect.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Aries: Seven of Wands

This month, with your ruler (Mars) moving into Cancer — the sign of its fall — you may feel like your back is against the wall, or that you need to hold your ground against what feels like perilous opposition.

The Seven of Wands — this version from Stephanie Pui-Mun Law’s Shadowscapes Tarot — refers to a need to be more alert, guarded and cautious, rather than accepting things at face value. It can manifest as a need to brace for attack

You may face opposition from others, in the form of competition or outright resistance. You may also feel “under siege:” as in being attacked or ganged up on.

There is a “hold your ground” element to this card which is in keeping with the traditional Seven of Wands. But rather than fighting off someone trying to unseat you, you may be fighting off your own urges to see the grass as greener on the other side.

The Seven of Wands — like all Sevens — refers to a dilemma that is not going to be easily reconciled. The question is: do you take the easy way out (in this case giving in to the masses and compromising your own integrity)? Or do you hold your ground and risk further alienating your detractors?

This card requires you to look at your situation from all sides and figuring out the best course of action. There are issues with boundaries that are present in this card, and it can manifest as feeling imposed upon or backed into a corner. But the same dilemma applies. You have to choose whether to give in or maintain your stance and deal with whatever repercussions result.

Whatever happens this month — no matter how this plays out for you — you’re going to be called upon to take the high road. You’re going to be challenged to stand your ground and to not allow yourself to back down. You’ll also have to reconcile a “me against the world” attitude before it turns into a chip on your shoulder.

TAURUS: Ace of Pentacles

This month, with your ruler (Venus) joining Uranus in your sign, you should be thinking about the world of opportunities before you — to express yourself creatively, expand your social horizons, and generate more prosperity.

The Ace of Pentacles — this version from the Light Grey Tarot Collection — represents the start of something new, and in this case it happens to relate to money. As in new financial opportunities coming your way. While you probably won’t see a windfall, it’s a positive affirmation that you’re putting your energy into the right areas.

You may have recently gotten a raise, started a new job or become the benefactor of someone else’s generosity. You could also be starting to see returns on your earlier investments. Either way, you should have more opportunities and more financial resources at your disposal than you’ve had in recent days.

You may also feel that your luck is changing. As the Ace of Pentacles is associated with a change in fortune — a positive change as I also see Aces as “Yes” cards — as long as the “yes” answer is a positive affirmation. It’s telling you to keep up the good work, to go after your dreams, and to be open to all that the Universe has to offer you.

In this version we see bright golden stars super-imposed over infinite overlapping smaller stars. There’s also a golden tree whose vast roots and limbs spread out across the tiny villages that are sprinkled among the stars. If you look closely you can see homes, trees, mountains, lakes and even people in there.

This imagery feels like an homage to the “spreading the wealth” axiom that is so much a part of prosperity consciousness. It’s an acknowledgment that there is plenty for everyone and that acquiring abundance also involves sharing it with others. You can be confident in the knowledge that fortune is smiling upon you, and while that doesn’t mean you should be foolish with your money, you’re likely to have more of it than usual to work with.

GEMINI: Four of Cups

Have you been feeling like there’s something missing in your life these days? In particular in your love life or in your relationships with others?

The Four of Cups — this version from the beautiful Röhrig  Tarot — can refer to a sense of boredom and discontent. As the bridge between the excitement and promise seen in the Three of Cups and the crisis / despair so often found in the Five of Cups, this card begs the question “Is that all there is?”

The Four of Cups is called “Luxury” in this deck. It refers to the potential for taking something that you no longer have to work for for granted.

Your love life may seem stuck or stagnant; and like gazing into the languorous swirling colors in the center of this card, you may find yourself lost in a hypnotic daze that you’re unable to snap out of.

This card can indicate a sort of listless lack of clarity and perspective, or it can refer to a lack of drive or motivation. Neither of these scenarios are ideal.

Ask yourself what’s holding you back from making your relationships all that they could be? Chances are good you find yourself circling the same issues over and over again, to the extent that it’s become habit.

The Four of Cups is not a “bad” card. But it can also refer to becoming “comfortably numb.” There’s a danger with this card of staying stuck in a situation — settling for good enough — rather than taking a risk on something that’s less of a sure thing.

The colors and swirls in this card are mesmerizing. But they also spiral into the center with no easy way out. Only you can decide for yourself whether what you have now is capable of sustaining you or if it’s time to branch out.

Cancer: Judgment

This month you’ll be taking stock of your life; of the actions and decisions that have led you who you are today. This card calls for self-evaluation and awareness, a need to develop enough spiritual altitude to look objectively at your mistakes and short-comings as well as your triumphs and victories.

The Judgement card is a powerful reminder that in order to put the past behind us we must not only let go of prior judgments but heal the wounds that have been holding us back.

It’s a card of both atonement and forgiveness. Of unconditional love, understanding and acceptance — for both ourselves and for those who’ve hurt us or let us down.

This version — from the beautiful Archeon Tarot — a vulnerable, child-like angel stands before three trumpets, grasping a sword in her hands. She appears to be cutting through the ties that binds, as she prepares to receive her penance. The image is shown in negative form — a symbolic reference to the concept of gaining an inverted perspective and seeing things from another’s point of view.

This card refers to eternity, infinity and timelessness. It refers to the endless human journey that we sometimes refer to as “karma.” We reap and sew with each thought, action, and decision.

It represents a summation of all that has come before, and an awareness that each step taken — from here on out — leaves an indelible imprint on our future. On a personal level, this card speaks of compassion, forgiveness, understanding, and acceptance.

Take this time to tie up loose ends. This can be a literal letting go of the past, but it will more likely relate to putting yourself in other people’s shoes and seeing how the mistakes they’ve made or the grief they’ve caused have been just as much a part of being human and flawed as any direct attempt to cause you pain.

LEO: Six of Wands

This month should see you getting some much-deserved approval or recognition from your peers. The Six of Wands refers to support, approval and acclaim, brought about by something you’ve worked hard to achieve.

You may have been putting a lot of effort into your work and not even realizing that others have taken notice. Or you could be unexpectedly pulled aside by a loved one, just to tell you how much you’re loved and appreciated.

This version — from Antonella Castellii’s Sorcerer’s Tarot — perfectly depicts both the sense of “standing out in a crowd” and of “rising above triumphantly” that is so much a part of this archetype.

The Six of Wands is a card of appreciation and admiration. You “win” something and have earned the right to be satisfied with the spoils of your victory. This isn’t about ego or conceit and it’s never at someone else’s expense. There’s a strong sense of being supported and lifted up by others who rejoice right along with you.

You could be in line for a promotion or award at work. You could be given the ok to go ahead with a project you’ve been excited about. Or it may be as simple as pat on the back and some words of encouragement by those who look up to you.

This is not the time to “bask in your glory,” but rather a time to mirror back to those who are acknowledging you the same sense of gratitude and appreciation. It’s a time to remember the little people — those who have helped you a long the way.

Whatever form this takes for you this month, know that you’ve earned it and that you deserve it. It may just give you the incentive to keep shooting for the stars and manifesting your highest goals.

VIRGO: Ace of Scrolls

Your card this month — the Ace of Swords — is all about achieving the kind of clarity that’s necessary to focus your intentions and accomplish your goals.

The Ace of Swords — this version from the Chrysalis Tarot — can be used as a tool for manifesting. It is raw, pure, unharnessed energy that can be channeled into something both powerful and magical.

It can act as a lightning rod for either positive or negative energy, depending on how it’s used. It refers to getting to the heart of the matter, cutting through the BS, speaking your mind and honoring your truth.

It can be victorious or it can be defiant. And there’s no saying which one this one is. But that’s also a part of taking back your power — deciding whether you want to wield your sword for the greater good or use it as a weapon.

When used negatively it really does “cut like a knife” with respect to cruelty or hurtful words. For this reason it’s sometimes best to put some distance between yourself and whatever outside influences are triggering reactions.

You don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and you don’t want to risk being rejected — so you find yourself biting your tongue and being resentful for it later. For this reason you’ll have to bite the bullet and make sure you’re able to get to the heart of whatever has been troubling you.

Think about what’s been weighing on your mind that needs to be decided once and for all. And what discussion needs to be had in order to iron out any differences. The Ace of Swords encourages you to speak truthfully, but to do so from the heart. Be considerate of the feelings of others: remember that words can be both helpful and hurtful, so be sure to use yours wisely.

Libra: The Lovers

This month, your ruling planet (Venus) will occupy two important sectors: the 7th (relationship sector) and 8th (sex and intimacy sector), as it transitions from Aries to Taurus. As a results — and whether you’re single, dating, married, separated, divorced or widowed — chances are good you’re going to be thinking about relationships.

The Lover’s card is about “love.” But it’s not always an easy or definitive love. Sometimes there are feelings of ambivalence or uncertainty, and sometimes there are choices to be made that can complicate things even more.

The figures in this card are lost in world of their own. They hold each other in a loving embrace, oblivious to the world around them. This version of the card — from the beautiful Jaen Tarot — emphasizes love and affection.

But life — and love — is not always so simple. This card can also indicate uncertainty in relationship or a decision that needs to be made. You may be wondering where you stand or whether someone you care about feels the same.

You may also be ready to fall head over heels in love and wondering when someone new is coming in.

If you’re in love and happy with your choices, remember to celebrate that love with the object of your affection. And if you’re not — if you’re out there like so many of the rest of us still looking: don’t give up.

The Lovers card — and this one in particular — can serve as a reminder that there’s someone out there for all of us, and that what is most important is having a great big old open heart that you’re ready, willing and able to share with another.

Scorpio: Temperance

This month you may find yourself looking for ways to release some pent-up energy and frustration. With both of your ruling planets (Mars and Pluto) involved in intense aspects, it’s going to be important for you to ease some tension and restore the equilibrium in your life.

The Temperance card — from  the Mary-el Tarot — refers to bringing the opposing aspects of your personality (or your relationships, or your desires) into alignment by finding that perfect middle ground.

That’s not always easy — especially if you’re dealing with competing urges — such as the desire to move full speed ahead in pursuit of a goal vs. the need to hold back, regroup and exercise restraint.

The imagery in this card is a dramatic departure from what we’re using to seeing. In place of the traditional symbols of balance, harmony and moderation, we see a tiger slicing through the ocean’s current and propelling himself toward his destination.

He moves with such purpose and ferocity that we might not notice how these two seemingly incompatible forces join together. But this is the essence of the Temperance card. The juxtaposition of masculine (tiger) and feminine (water), hot and cold — notice the steam rising from his back — combined with the tiger’s dogged determination against the backdrop of the water’s mutability.

There are several repeating themes here of joining / merging / blending opposing forces. Such as the small flock of birds in the distance — representing lightness and freedom — trailing the waterlogged beast. Also note the predominant colors — turquoise and orange — and their relation to the throat and sacral chakras, e.g., the intermarriage of passion and surrender.

Like the gulls hovering in the distance, you may need to rise above your situation and get some spiritual altitude. Or like the tiger swimming against the tide, you may find that your journey becomes less arduous the more willing you are to give in to the forces of nature and go with the ebb and flow.

Sagittarius: Three of Coins

Now is the time to put your head together with others and work on bringing a project to fruition. The Three of Coins is a “teamwork” card, among other things.

It’s about hitting your stride and seeing initial results of something you’ve been working hard on. Sometimes you need help to take it to the next level, even if that comes in the form of a critical eye.

The Three of Coins — like all Threes — refers to the initial stages of progress where you’ve taken an idea (the Ace), put it into production (the Two), and are making progress now toward creating something real (the Three).

The imagery in this card — from the Joie de Vivre Tarot — describes this process beautifully. All three of these creatures are working together in harmony, with the central figure holding a coin that has a Full Moon inscribed on it while the other two are presenting him with coins of their own: one with a crescent (New) Moon and the other a crescent (Balsamic) Moon. These three phases of the Moon refer to the stages of a project from start to finish.

There’s an interdependence depicted here and a camaraderie. Each of these figures needs the others and all of them are contributing equally.

It’s a good time to reach out to others and ask for help if you need it. It can’t hurt to offer it to those who’d benefit from your assistance too. You may need a little push to get past a hump, or you may need the discerning eye of someone you trust.

The Three of Coins says that you’re making progress and should be feeling good about what you’ve accomplished so far. But there’s still work to be done, and you won’t be able to do it alone.

CAPRICORN: Three of Wands

This should be a good month to be thinking about progress you’ve made on goals you have underway as you plan your next moves.

You may feel the need to take a breather, or “rise above” it all in order to get an overview of how much you’ve already accomplished.

The Three of Wands — this version from the Ceccoli Tarot —  refers to steps that have been taken and seeds that have been planted that are now starting to produce results. You can look at how far you’ve come and use that as a springboard for advancing your goals.

You can see the work in progress aspect in this card with the chain of flowers the angel figure strings together from the top of her perch. While it’s clear this has been an ongoing project, it looks like she’s hitting her stride now with the altitude she’s attained.

That’s one important feature of the Three of Wands — setting things in motion so that the work you’ve already done keeps building on itself while you expand your horizons. In doing so your project (or your goal, or your relationship) begins to take on a life of its own — much like the chain of flowers in this card.

Notice the fox sniffing at the flowers in the background. This could spell trouble and there’s a chance our little angel will have to rethink some of her goals. But if she’s put enough of forethought into laying her foundations, she won’t have any trouble turning incidents like these to her advantage.

The Three of Wands encourages you to push past your limitations and expand your horizons. It will mean stepping outside of your comfort zone and exploring uncharted territories. And while you run into pitfalls or have to take detours along the way, know that these are often blessing in disguise that can open up a whole new world of possibilities.

AQUARIUS: Queen of Cups

This month you may feel the need to step away from the demands on your time and energy, and treat yourself to something special.

The Queen of Cups is known to be sensitive, compassionate and caring. She’s also incredibly loving and giving — in fact she’s so giving that she may sometimes forfeit her own needs as she focuses her attention on others.

But this Queen of Cups — from the gorgeous Chinese Tarot by Jui Guoliang — seems to know a thing or two about tending to her own needs. She’s not only surrounded herself with luxury, she’s indulging all five of her senses.

There’s the aromatic incense wafting through the room, the colorful Ibises painted on the wall, the tinkling bells that adorn her elegant headdress, the delicate tea she sips from her dainty cup, and the opulent silken fibers that make up her royal garb.

This Queen has created a sacred space for her to retreat to and indulge her appreciation for the finer things in life. She’s graceful and elegant and probably also quite wealthy. You can tell that she’s very much at home in the space she’s created and is certainly in no hurry to leave it behind.

The Queen of Cups though may be someone in your life — a parent, older sibling, friend or supervisor.

Or she could be the person you need to turn to when you’re feeling insecure or uncertain. She may also be a version of you that needs to be brought to the forefront. Either way — it’s all about giving and receiving comfort. Making others feel at home. Letting them know you are there for them. And being willing to take off..

Full Moon: The Full Moon occurs on May 18th at 27° Scorpio 38.

Retrogrades: Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are all retrograde for the entire month of May. Everything else is in direct motion for the entire month.

Ingresses: Mercury moves into Taurus on May 6th; Venus moves into Taurus on May 15th; Mars moves into Cancer on the 16th; the Sun and Mercury move into Gemini on the  21st.

Continue reading for complete scopes for each sign:

Aries — March 21-April 19: May begins very sweetly for you with Venus in your sign till the 16th. This will no doubt be doing wonders for your love life, especially around the 5th to the 12th when Venus trines Jupiter. Mercury is also in your sign till the 6th. For the first few days it will also be trining Jupiter, which will mean you are not at a loss for words. Infact, you may wish to censor your words from the 1st to 4th. As the month moves on, Mercury from the 6th and Venus from the 16th move into an area of your chart that will have you thinking more about security and what this means to you. You may look over your finances and get them in order. Moon in your love area 15th and 16th is a time to include your partner more in your life.

Moon in Aries May 1, 2, 3, 29, 30

Taurus — April 20-May 20: A new moon hits off in Taurus on the 4th, making May a month of new beginnings for you. With Mercury also in Taurus from the 6th to the 21st, you’ll be sure to have plenty of new ideas and the incentive to put them into action. Venus, your ruling planet, also enters your sign on the 15th, you can well see that May is a month full of changes for you. These changes may well be to do with your love life and your thoughts on a relationship, or lack of one. Either way, you can get a lot done this month. Moon in your relationship area 17th and 18th incorporates a full moon on the 18th. This will add further insights to anything you have been hoping to change in your relationship and give you the impetus to do so.

Moon in Taurus May 4 (New), 5, 31

Gemini — May 21-June 21:

Your ruling planet, Mercury, is in your sign from the 21st, alongside the Sun. Mercury has three sign changes this month so you may find yourself doing a merry dance when it comes to communication. At the end of the month it is in opposition to Jupiter, in your relationship area. Don’t press your luck too far and think you can talk your way out of anything as you may be in for a nasty surprise. This may be especially true if you find Mars, which is in your sign till the 16th, causing problems in the first half of the month. Looks like May will be a busy month for you all round. Moon in your love area 19th and 20th, which is just after Venus entering an area of your chart known for romance.

Moon in Gemini May 6, 7

Cancer — June 22-July 23: You may have been experiencing some confusing times for the first half of the month with Mars in a position to make the “unclear” even more confusing. However, from the 16th Mars is in your sign and with it comes a fresh burst of energy. You should be firing on all cylinders after this date, especially with Mercury after the 6th, and Venus after the 15th, no longer squaring your sign. May should be an interesting month for you as the north node opposes Saturn and Pluto, which are both in your relationship area. Expect a few changes and even more surprises. Moon in your love area 21st. 22nd and 23rd also finds Venus conjunct Uranus which is another sign that May will be anything but boring for you. Expect the unexpected.

Moon in Cancer May 8, 9, 10

Leo — July 24-August 23: Venus trines your sign up until the 15th alongside Mercury till the 6th. The effects of this are twofold as you have the capacity to sit down with your partner and discuss where you wish the relationship to be heading in a calm and loving manner. After the 16th Mars is in an area of your chart that may make planning ahead a bit muddled. Best to get all of your conversations out of the way early in May and then just buckle down and focus on work and what needs done there. You have both Saturn and Pluto helping you along to meet any deadlines work may throw at you. Moon in your love area 24th and 25th also finds Mercury in an area of your chart making it a good time to catch up with friends socially. You never know who you’ll meet.

Moon in Leo May 11, 12

Virgo —  August 24-September 22: May looks like an intense month for you. You’ll have plenty of drive to get things done with the help of Mars. Try not to work too much up until the 16th when friends take on a more important role in your life. Around the same time Venus will be trining your sign allowing for smooth flow of emotions in your relationship. Mercury will also be helping you along with this from the 6th to 21st. You may find yourself in some very open and honest conversations during those two weeks, in which you need to know the answers to questions asked. Full moon in your communications area on the 18th can also be a time to shine the spotlight on your emotions. Moon in your relationship area 26th, 27th and 28th is a time to reflect on what you want.

Moon in Virgo May 13, 14

Libra — September 23-October 22: Venus, your ruling planet, is in your relationship area until the 16th. This, alongside Mercury’s position till the 6th, will really help you sort out anything in your relationship that has been bothering you. Although with Venus in this position, not too much should be worrying you when it comes to love. After the 6th and again after the 16th, you will be in a much more serious frame of mind when it comes to your relationship. Secrets may be uncovered, alongside answers you have been searching for. Mars can be of help to you in taking any action you deem necessary as it trines your sign till the 16th, after which date you may find things a lot tougher than they need be. Moon in your love area 1st, 2nd 3rd, 29th and 30th gives you plenty of scope to put your relationship under the spotlight.

Moon in Libra May 15, 16

Scorpio — October 23-November 22: May looks to be a great month for your love life. With the Sun, Mercury and Venus all being in this area of your chart at various times during the month. Mercury will be helping your communications within a relationship from the 6th to the 21st, whilst Venus enters your relationship area on the 15th. There is also a new moon on the 4th which may have you thinking long and hard about where you wish your relationship to be heading.Added to this the full moon, on the 18th, in your own sign, may be a catalyst for some long overdue changes you have been wishing to make. Moon in your love area 4th, 5th and 31st are all times when you can put your new thoughts into action and come out on top.

Moon in Scorpio May 17, 18 (Full)

Sagittarius — November 23-December 20: Venus is trining your sign this month up until the 15th. This should be doing wonders for your love life, especially as it also forms a trine to Jupiter from the 7th to 12th. With Mars also in your relationship area there’s not a lot more you could ask for in May. Use the first half of the month to move forward with relationship goals. There’s a lot of fun in these transits and you, if anyone, always appreciate a bit of fun. By the 21st, both the Sun and Mercury move into your relationship area giving you a chance to make up for anything that goes wrong earlier in the month. Moon in your love area 6th and 7th occurs just after a new moon hits off a few days earlier. Use this time for a fresh, new start.

Moon in Sagittarius May 19, 20

Capricorn — December 21-January 20: Mars in in your relationship area from the 16th which should make this May a month to remember. If you have been putting off changing the status quo in your relationship then Mars is not going to allow that to continue for much longer. You also have Venus conjunct Uranus trining your sign for a few days just as Mars moves into shake your love life up. Anything could happen from 16th to around the 19th as these three planets push and pull to stop you stagnating. The effects may be sudden but the should be positive as these planets are all in earth signs and will help to ground you. Moon in your love area 8th, 9th and 10th is a time to look at what is around for you as the moon hits off the north node and opposes Saturn.

Moon in Capricorn May 21, 22, 23

Aquarius — January 21-February 19: Mercury is in a great position to help with any communication problems you’ve been having lately as it is in this area of your chart till the 6th. With Venus also in this area of your chart till the 15th you’d be wise to put this time to good use and sit down with your partner to work on any problems you’ve been having. As both planets will, after these dates, move into an area of your chart which may have you feeling a bit more subdued in wanting to discuss your feelings, then use the first half of the month to sort things out. Mars is in an area of your chart suggesting a lot of fun up until the 16th, when it then suggests you’ll be hard at work. Moon in your love area 11th and 12th great time to plan a romantic evening.

Moon in Aquarius May 24, 25

Pisces — February 20-March 20: Both Mercury and Venus begin the month in an area of your chart where you will be wanting to look at stability and security. This may be to do with your finances, relationship or life in general. As the month moves forward your focus turns to communication. This is especially true when Mercury moves into your communication area from the 6th to 21st. Compounding your need to talk things through is Venus from the 15th also in this area of your chart. What may you have to talk about? Well for one thing Uranus is moving through your communications area all month and on the 18th is conjunct Venus, planet of love. Might be time to sit down with your partner and see where the relationship is heading. Moon in your love area 13th and 14th can also shine a light on what you want in love.

Moon in Pisces May 26, 27, 28

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Apr 29, 2019 – May 5, 2019:

This week, we’ve got a planet changing direction (Saturn), a New Moon in Taurus, and two planets (Mars and Pluto) that are officially out of bounds.

Starting on Monday, we have a Balsamic Moon in Pisces, which sextiles Uranus and the Sun — and semi-sextiles Chiron and Venus — before the day is through. As lunar aspects are fleeting, these transits will probably only produce short-lived effects. But in general, these are all favorable contacts that should see you feeling more creative, compassionate and optimistic.

Saturn goes stationary retrograde on Tuesday, and will remain retrograde until mid-September. During this time, you may be thinking about what (and whom) you want to retain in your life vs. what (or whom) you want to leave behind. You may feel the need to step back and regroup. This can mean ironing out the kinks in a union that’s been faltering or it can manifest as bringing someone new in.

Saturn turning retrograde can make things seem a whole lot bleaker than they are. And because this change in direction is more about going back and fixing things than it is about putting them to rest, you’d be much better served to take some time to figure out what you need rather than rushing to judgment. Depending on where this transit is occurring in your natal chart, it can apply do areas that are in need of resolution.

Saturn will remain retrograde for almost 5 months (until Sept 19th), when it changes direction again at around 14º Capricorn and starts moving forward again.

On Wednesday, we have Mercury squaring both Saturn and the Nodes, effectively becoming the focal planet of a cardinal t-square. The square to the Nodes is known in classical astrology as “at the bendings;” it can indicate a period of crises with emphasis on the concept of fate. Add Saturn to the mix and you may experience feelings of melancholy bubbling to the surface. It can manifest as boredom or apathy, or seeing the glass as half empty rather than half full.

It can also manifest as inconvenient or uncomfortable discussions. Feeling like you’re being put on the spot or forced to answer questions you’re not prepared to answer. As Mercury represents thoughts, ideas, communications and mental activities, this can translate literally as a crisis in consciousness.

Fortunately there’s also a nice Mercury / Mars sextile in play, and with these two planets in mutual reception. With Mercury in Mars’ sign (Aries) and Mars in Mercury’s sign (Gemini) their respective influenced are pleasantly reinforced. This aspect is great for making plans and then following through with them. It’s all about being on the same page with those you are working with and getting things done with little conflict or aggravation.

Following along with the Mercury transits, there’s a square to Pluto on Thursday. This aspect is associated with intrusive thoughts, anxieties and fears. It can feel like your mind is playing tricks on you, convincing you that something is real based on rudimentary “facts.” You want to be careful not to let your imagination run away with you, lest you find yourself growing increasingly paranoid.

This aspect is great for ferreting out hidden information but is not so good at evaluating it objectively. With the Aries Moon joining in and conjuncting Mercury, you could be in danger of acting rashly or jumping to conclusions. If you notice yourself getting fixated on something and feeling the urge to act, step back, take a breather and re-evaluate it in a couple days.

Mercury next trines Jupiter, on Friday. Here we have two natural polarities — the natural rulers of the 3rd and 9th houses — joined together in harmony. We have Mercury — the planet associated with communications and ideas — trining Jupiter — the planet associated with benevolence, good will and generosity.

Among many other things, this transit is good for opening your heart to those you love and expressing appreciation and gratitude for all that you have. It’s good for coming together with others and celebrating your allegiances while honoring and accepting your differences. It’s a time for feeling inspired and optimistic about the future.

We have a New Moon on Saturday at 14º Taurus 10. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, meaning that it’s a revered placement. An exalted planet or luminary is said to express its clearest and purest essence in that sign, in this case the calmest, gentlest and most sensuous sign of all: Taurus.

As New Moons always represent new beginnings and opportunities to start anew, this one — in Taurus — emphasizes opportunities for relaxing, meditating and getting grounded. These are all Taurus Moon activities, with the idea of comfort, luxury, and getting in touch with nature and the earth being the corresponding theme.

The Taurus Moon is sensuous and indulgent, so if you feel like getting something done, it’s good for more than just lounging around the house. It’s good for putting your culinary skills to use, remodeling your home, gardening or landscaping, or anything that amounts to creating beauty in your environment.

If you thought you might want to sit back and relax on Sunday, think again. There’s a Mars / Jupiter opposition in play, which is further compounded by the fact that Mars is out of bounds. This is a highly volatile and potentially explosive transit that can see you drawing battle lines with those who don’t share your same political or ideological views.

This is not the time to engage in any confrontational (or legally questionable) behaviors as you’re unlikely to come out unscathed. Try to steer clear of hot-button topics (mainly politics and religion) during this time if at all possible.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Apr 22, 2019 – Apr 28, 2019:

We start this week with the Sun completing its conjunction to Uranus in Taurus on Monday. This aspect is good for expressing yourself in ways that may not be conventional but can inspire tolerance and acceptance in others. As the Sun is tied to your life force, will and self-expression, while Uranus is tied to thinking outside the box, these planets joining together can be incredibly progressive and innovative.

These two planets rule opposing signs (Leo and Aquarius respectively), so bringing them together at the same degree of the same sign creates an opening for ironing out personal differences. Even so, they’re fixed sign planets coming together in a fixed sign (Taurus), emphasizing the tendency toward self-expression and individuation. This aspect encourages you to march to the beat of your own drum and express your own unique individuality in ways that inspire rather than shock.

On Tuesday, Venus conjuncts Chiron. While Venus is generally not comfortable in Aries — as the sign opposite Libra, the one it rules — this transit should see you becoming more aware of your own capacity for giving and for being able to put yourself in other people’s shoes. This is a charitable aspect that compels you to reach into the very depths of your soul — where compassion, forgiveness and understanding all reside — and bring forth that which is within you in order to pass it onto others.

Mercury is also in mutual reception with Mars. With the planet that rules insight and awareness (Mercury) in the sign related to drive and determination (Aries), and the planet that rules action and energy (Mars) in the sign related to shrewdness and agility (Gemini), we may be feeling like we can accomplish anything. This is an energetic and even audacious combination that can see us making great strides.

Pluto turns stationary retrograde on Wednesday. Pluto is retrograde for around 6 months out of every year, and is reminiscent of its mythological counterpart in which Persephone goes down into the Underworld. Pluto will remain retrograde until October 4th, when it starts its 6 month period of direct motion, followed by 6 months in retrograde motion all over again.

This is a time for turning inward and developing your own internal power, rather than unleashing it on the outer world. It’s a time for concentrating your efforts toward getting in touch with your shadow side and mastering your own darker energies. It’s a time for regeneration and transformation that lasts for several months, until the cycle repeats itself.

The Moon joins in on Thursday, crossing Saturn, the South Node and Pluto before the day is through. The Moon is debilitated in Capricorn, the sign of its detriment (as the sign opposite Cancer, which the Moon naturally rules). Combine that with its aspect to these heavy Capricorn influences, and you may see it manifesting as intense conflicts, power struggles, confrontations and mind games (among many other things).

As Moon transits are fleeting this combination may only produce short-lived effects. It references emotional and psychological changes, as opposed to material or external concerns. It encourages you to turn inward and evaluate your personal belief systems. The Capricorn Moon also refers to getting serious about your goals, your profession and your public standing.

On Friday, the Moon moves into 3rd quarter phase, at  6º Aquarius 23. The 3rd quarter moon is linked to career, reputation and outward appearances, among other things. With it moving through the innovative, progressive and somewhat rebellious sign of Aquarius, you might be thinking more about shaking things up in your professional life, or you may want to consider what you can do to help others achieve their goals.

The Moon in Aquarius emphasizes humanitarian ideals; recognizing that there’s a place in the world for all of us and that we each have something unique to contribute. It also emphasizes progress, activism and uniqueness. It speaks of figuring out who you are as a unique individual and what impact you want to make on the world at large.

Mars squares Neptune on Saturday. This transit can throw a wrench into even the best laid plans. It can see you feeling confused or distracted, and can manifest as doubting your abilities or questioning other people’s motives. Fortunately, Neptune is dignified in its own sign, and Mars is in mutual reception with Mercury. But Mars / Neptune is ambiguous in general and is prone to flights of fancy. You’ll have to figure out a way to extract the best elements of both planets if you’re going to get anything done.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Apr 15, 2019 – Apr 21, 2019:

This week, we have three planets (the Sun, Venus and Mercury) and an asteroid (Juno) changing signs, two planets (Mercury and Mars) in mutual reception, and a Full Moon at the last degree of Libra.

Starting on Monday, there’s a perfect Yod formation involving the Moon, Venus and Pluto, with the Moon as the focal point. The Yod aspect is also known as the “finger of God”), and with these planets involved, it can bring with it a desire to connect more intimately with loved ones and relationship partners.

With Venus and Pluto sextiling one another, then funneling the passion that results into a warm, dynamic, creative Leo Moon, the emphasis is likely to be on dramatic — rather than subtle — expressions of love and affection. This aspect brings out an urge to merge, so don’t be surprised if a partner or love interest starts trying to get frisky with you. It’s an alluring, seductive aspect that is known for its sex appeal and rarely fails to deliver.

Venus then inches forward and squares Jupiter on Tuesday. This transit can see you going above and beyond the call of duty where friends and loved ones are concerned. It’s an expansive, indulgent energy that can translate to overdoing it, as in overindulging or overextending yourself.

Even though both Jupiter and Venus are dignified (with Jupiter in the sign it naturally rules and Venus in the sign of its exaltation), you want to be mindful of temptations to go overboard during this time. You may also overestimate your ability to lend a helping hand, so take a moment to look at promises you’ve already made before you start offering your services to others.

Also on Tuesday, Mercury crosses its shadow point — at 29º Pisces 38. This is the degree it went retrograde at back in early March. And even though it’s been technically moving forward since March 28th, this marks the official end of this period’s Mercury retrograde. It’s at an anaretic (29th) degree, and as its in Pisces, it’s also the last degree of the zodiac.

Accordingly, Mercury moves into Aries on the following day (Wednesday). Mercury in Aries is good for taking a stand, saying what’s on your mind, being bold and brave in your communications with others, and putting yourself out there. It’s better at talking than listening and is not so good at tact and diplomacy so keep that in mind in your interactions with others.

Mercury and Mars are in mutual reception from this point on (until May 6th, when Mercury moves into Taurus). These mutual receptions act to strengthen the natural influences of the planets involved, uniting them together in collaboration. In this case — with Mercury in Mars’ sign and vice versa, the art of persuasion and tactful diplomacy should be greatly enhanced.

Venus moves up to its exact degree of exaltation (27º Pisces) on Thursday. This is Venus’ most coveted placement, with the exaltation strengthening its natural inclinations toward love, beauty, harmony and cooperation. It’s semi-sextile to the Sun, which increases its propensity for oozing charm and igniting romance; and it’s also at the midpoint between Neptune and Chiron, which can greatly enhance its tendency toward self-sacrifice and altruism.

On Friday, we have a Full Moon at 29º Libra 06.

The April Full Moon is known as the Full Pink Moon, (named so for the beautiful blankets of fragrant pink flowers (phlox) that bloom at this time of year).

The April Full Moon emphasizes the Aries / Libra polarity’s natural association with relationships of all types, with Aries representing “the Self” and Libra representing “the Other.” The theme here is figuring out where certain people fit in your life without focusing so much on one type of relationship so that you invalidate the other.

As Full Moons are said to shine a spotlight on areas in your chart that are affected (by house position and contacts to other planets) you might look to your own natal chart to see where this will play out for you.

In general, the Full Moon provides an overview of the progress you’ve made since its New Moon counterpoint on April 5th. Seeds that were planted then will surely have sprouted; do you need to make adjustments or change your course entirely? Now is the time to think about what you’ve accomplished and where you want to go from here.

SInce it’s in Libra (and at an anaretic or “fated” degree), The Libra full moon is all about fairness, objectivity and impartiality. It’s good for social interactions that call for cooperation and collaboration, as it strives for balance and harmony at all times.

Venus moves into Aries and the Sun moves into Taurus on Saturday. Venus is in detriment in Aries, as the sign opposite its natural ruler, Libra. While there are said to be some disadvantages to having a planet in detriment — usually due to societal norms and expectations rather than any deficit in the archetype itself — there are some wonderful benefits as well.

Venus in Aries is able to put its heart on the line and go “all in” when it comes to love. It’s ardent and passionate about matters of the heart and sees itself as a bit of a maverick. This is a great time to put yourself out there, without fear. It’s a time for taking risks in love and for opening yourself up to new opportunities.

The Sun also moves into Taurus on Saturday. The Sun in Taurus speaks of getting in touch with nature and the earth, and with taking care of “business.” This is a good time for thinking about making, saving and investing money. It’s also a good time for taking care of your physical body and for indulging all five senses.

While the Sun was in Aries you may have been so focused on getting things done that you didn’t have time to stop and smell the flowers. The Sun in Taurus not only slows you down enough to do just that, it also heightens your ability to appreciate and enjoy the prospect.

Mercury conjuncts Chiron, also on Saturday. This signature can bring in opportunities to heal yourself through working with and comforting others. This can be a profoundly cathartic experience, wherein you not only understand exactly what someone is going through, but can relate to it on a level you weren’t even aware of until you witnessed it through someone else’s eyes.

As Chiron is associated with wisdom and compassion that are gained through experience, the transit can bring in its own set of challenges. You may have to confront your own demons and process painful experiences in order to overcome them. But it can also represent a catalyst for growth, Use this time to draw on your own experiences to offer help where it’s needed most.

Finally, on Sunday, the Moon (in Scorpio) is void of course for twelve solid hours. The Moon is debilitated in Scorpio (the sign of its Fall) but it’s very well aspected — trining the North Node and sextiling Saturn, Pluto and the South Node — before it goes void.

The void of course Moon is a common occurrence; it marks the period of time between the Moon’s last aspect in one sign and its ingress into the next. Any aspects involving the Moon are temporary are likely to fly by almost imperceptibly. But that doesn’t mean this period of time will be uneventful. There are still always transits in play: planets interacting with one another and blending or communicating their unique energies.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Apr 8, 2019 – Apr 14, 2019:

There’s a lot happening this week, with both the asteroid Ceres and the planet Jupiter turning retrograde, and a whole slew of hard (squares and oppositions) aspects involving the inner (personal) and outer (transpersonal) planets.

Starting on Monday, we have a Moon in calm, sensuous Taurus, sextiling Venus and Neptune and trining Saturn and Pluto. The Moon is exalted in Taurus and these harmonious aspects to planets occupying water and earth signs should make for a relatively mellow day.

The Taurus Moon is sensuous and indulgent, so if you feel like getting something done, it’s good for more than just lounging around the house. It’s good for putting your culinary skills to use, remodeling your home, doing yard work, gardening or landscaping, or anything that amounts to creating luxury and beauty in your environment.

The Moon moves into Gemini on Tuesday, joining Mars. There are lots of positive aspects associated with the Gemini Moon: insatiable curiosity for one thing, and playfulness for another. Wit, charm and charisma for a few more. It’s also good for socializing and interacting with others. Add Mars to the mix and you’re likely to see people running around like chickens with their heads cut off, or talking over one another in casual conversation.

Moon and Mars in Gemini can be a lot fun, But it can also manifest as information overload — especially in the coming days when the Moon lights up a Jupiter ./ Mercury square (exact on Wednesday) and the Sun squares Saturn, Pluto and the Nodes.

Jupiter goes stationary retrograde on Wednesday, at 24º Sagittarius 20. Jupiter is the planet associated with higher consciousness and spiritual pursuits. When it turns retrograde, it turns all of those spiritual and higher-mind impulses inward. It can bring greater insights and awareness based on what resonates with us personally rather than through external doctrines. Here you can read more about Jupiter retrograde (involving a previous retrograde cycle) for more insights into this phenomenon.

Jupiter will be retrograde for four months (until August 12th). Use this time to think about what makes you feel fulfilled on a Soul level, rather than the objects and accomplishments that bring you external comfort and satisfaction. It’s a time for pursuing altruistic or charitable goals. And a time to build on your personal relationship with your own higher power.

Also on Wednesday, Mercury sextiles Pluto and trines the North Node. This combination is great for putting your head together with like-minded people have having some lively — albeit potentially heated — conversations. The Mercury / Pluto aspect is all about deep thoughts and penetrating insights. But you don’t want to keep these to yourself. The sextile speaks of joining hands with others, and sharing information that causes you to stop and think.

The Mercury / North Node aspect is all about taking an active role in group discussions. Remember that there needs to be a good balance between give and take: don’t try to force your views on others, or you could wind up alienating them.

As the Nodes are always opposite one another, this means that Mercury is also trining the South Node. It makes for a good time to rally your friends together and share ideas and interests. It’s about joining together with like minded people in whatever capacity. This is especially good for artistic and creative gatherings, such as concerts, performances and theater productions.

Venus conjuncts Neptune on that day too. This aspect is strengthened by the fact that Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces and Venus is exalted there. Neptune is also the higher octave of Venus. This conjunction is associated with the purest forms of beauty, art and love.

It is merging completely with others — and with the Universe — and in this respect it’s associated with all of those areas that bring us together in ways that we can relate to one another — through things like music, romance, dreams and psychic connections. It’s visionary, mystical and idealistic. It’s also incredibly compassionate and altruistic. On a personal level it can inspire us to strive for ecstasy, nirvana and bliss.

There is one less positive transit taking place on Wednesday though, that of the Sun squaring Saturn.  While the Sun is exalted in Aries (and on this day at its exact degree of exaltation) — and Saturn is in its own sign in Capricorn — the square is a stressful aspect that generally manifests as conflict and tension. This transitis a bit sobering, and can leave you feeling melancholy.

At this point, that Gemini Moon will be involved in a mutable t-square with Mercury and Jupiter.

This energy is likely to get amped up by the t-square with Mercury and Jupiter, but lunar transits are fleeting and in this case the Moon goes void of course (and remains as such going into Thursday) at around 6:30pm.

The Mercury / Jupiter square (involved in the aforementioned t-square) perfects on Friday. With Jupiter retrograde in its own sign, and Mercury in detriment. This transit can manifest as an exaggerated emotional state or dramatic mood swings. As a result, you may be feeling feel particularly energetic and enthusiastic while this aspect is in play. The potential for overdoing things — as in over-committing, over-indulging and over-extending yourself — is strong.

You want to temper some of that excess sensitivity with some good old fashioned common sense, especially if you’re inclined to attract people to you who drain you emotionally. And be careful not to make promises you can’t keep or annoy or others with your outlandish ideas.

Also on Friday the Sun squares the North and South Lunar Nodes, while Mercury sextiles Saturn. Square (90º) aspects to the Nodes are referred to as “at the bendings” in classical astrology.  In particular, this aspect is at the North bending which is a highly visible placement. Pay attention to what you put out there — what face you show to the outer world, and how you represent yourself.

The Sun at the Node’s bendings sets up a natural t-square which can manifest as a sense of frustration over discrepancies between what you’re experiencing internally and the image you feel the need to portray. This may be further compounded by the Sun / Pluto square the following day (on Saturday).

This aspect can be extremely volatile. It can erupt into power struggles or confrontations with others. Intense anger (rage), trust issues and overreactions are all potential manifestations of this transit, as are a desire for privacy and a need to play things much closer to the vest. One positive aspect of this transit — among many — is the urge to get to the bottom of things, leaving no stone unturned.

We end the week with a couple very welcome trines (90º aspects) on Sunday: one between the Sun and Jupiter and the other involving Venus and the North Node. The Sun / Jupiter trine — especially with both planets dignified by sign — is one of the more fortuitous transits there are. It brings the planet that rules growth, expansion and personal evolution into harmony with the Self. It represents feeling good about yourself. Feeling upbeat, optimistic, generous and carefree. It can manifest as expecting only the best and having the Universe respond in kind.

The Venus / Node trine can bring new people into your life who feel familiar and who can be instrumental to your evolutionary process. This aspect is karmic in nature, meaning that the people you meet during this time are here to propel you toward your destiny — and vice versa. Your actions and interactions can have far reaching repercussions so make sure you treat the people you meet during this time (and all times) with dignity and respect.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!

Aries: Temperance

This month you are likely to be called upon to integrate opposing areas of your life into one big calm, peaceful and harmonious medium.

This may take the form of aligning yourself with higher spiritual realms, or it may be more about learning to surrender.

The Temperance card — this version from the Crystal Tarot — speaks of searching within yourself for that wellspring of inner grace and finding a way to bring the good and bad, light and dark, happy and sad back into balance.

The Temperance card is called “Art” in some decks. It speaks of the unique creative forces that each of us possess. It speaks of seeking out symmetry and harmony.

In what areas of your life are you too inflexible, too rigid and too unwilling to hear another’s point of view? Your challenge will be to overcome those impediments and to integrate the opposing forces in your life.

In this version of the card we see an angel standing in a field and pouring fluid from one vessel into another. The grass is green and abundant at her feet, the sky is clear and the Sun shines behind her. The rainbow that is usually seen in this card is actually a part of her in this version. In her gown, in her wings and in the landscape behind her.

Her demeanor is calm and peaceful — almost trance-like, as if she’s mesmerized by the process. This is the essence of this card: there’s a calm and graceful symmetry in taking one’s time, going with the flow, and becoming one with all that surrounds you.

This is going to be especially important for you this month, with the New Moon in your sign, as well as Mercury, Venus and Chiron at different times. And while you may be tempted to strike out on your own, you want to be mindful during this time of how your words, actions and decisions can

TAURUS: Four of Wands

Venus — your ruling planet — is exalted in Pisces this month, bringing with it the kindness, warmth, graciousness and congeniality that all of us could use a little more of these days.

This is a gentle, loving and easy-going transit that brings feelings of benevolence and goodwill to the forefront.

Your card this month — the Four of Wands from the Samurai Tarot — is all about reflecting on accomplishments and looking forward to where those accomplishments may lead. It speaks of rejoicing and celebrating — whether this means planning for a party or special event, or getting yourself out of the doldrums and washing away the blues.

The Four of Wands takes the “dream big” energy that came with the Three of Wands and turns it into something tangible, solid and lasting. It represents a joyous celebration: a marriage, a promotion, the birth of a child.

It tells you that “this is only the beginning” of something you’ve already established and that it’s going to just keep getting better and better.

You may be planning a special event — one which will be way more fun than you are anticipating. You are likely to meet people, have fun, put your worries aside and focus instead on the promise of friendship, companionship and socializing.

No matter what else you’re up against this month, remember to be grateful for what you have. It’s not the time to isolate or withdraw from social opportunities. Look around you and take note of all you’ve accomplished thus far. Chances are good there’s a lot to be grateful for and a cause for celebration right there in front of you.

GEMINI: King of Swords

This month, with your ruler (Mercury) in Aries and in mutual reception with Mars in Gemini, you may be called upon to make decisions that are based on fairness and ingenuity.

The King of Swords — this version represented by Greek Mythology;s Odysseus from the beautiful Mythic Tarot — is a wise and strategic leader who relies on intellect and objectivity rather than compassion and emotion.

He may be a person in your life — a boss, mentor, parent or authority figure — and if so he’s here to show you how to lead with wisdom and grace. He may also represent qualities within yourself that are necessary for you to bring forth. Qualities like discipline and neutrality.

It may be a situation that requires you to act with authority, even if you’re not comfortable in that role. It may require you to “lay down the law” or pass down judgment where there is no easy answer. The King of Swords is able to cut through the nuances and extenuating circumstances to arrive at an impartial decision.

The King of Swords is honorable and just. He has noble ideals which he applies to himself as well as others. He insists on fairness and equality for all.

This card can refer to a need for justice and symmetry in your life. Or it can mark the presence of someone whose sense of authority and justice overrides personal investments. Is this you or someone you’re dealing with currently who’s encouraging you to embrace these qualities?

Whether this refers to you or to another, the underlying message is the same. Step away from emotional attachments and make your decisions this month based on what is right, fair, and most importantly best for you in the long run.

Cancer: Seven of Wands

This month you may find that you need to defend yourself, or to hold your ground against what feels like perilous opposition.

The Seven of Wands — this version from the Deviant Moon Tarot — speaks of a need to be more alert, guarded and cautious, rather than accepting things at face value.

You may face opposition from others, through competition or resistance. You may feel attacked or ganged up on. You may also have to reconcile a “me against the world” attitude before it turns into a chip on your shoulder.

As with all Sevens, there’s usually a moral dilemma or a situation in which you feel you’re being asked to compromise your ideals.

This may be a friend who asks you to keep an uncomfortable confidence, an accusation that’s put you on the defense, or a situation in which you feel unfairly targeted.

Either way you’re going to be called upon to take the high road, to stand your ground and to not allow yourself to back down.

The figure in this card is braced for adversity. She’s guarded and defensive, but she doesn’t retreat: she proceeds cautiously ahead. And while the moon is partially obscured behind the thicket, it sheds just enough light on the path to help her find her way.

Think about the areas in your own life where you’re feeling more guarded and alert. You may feel challenged or unsupported, and it may be hard to see your way around the obstacles before you. But the Seven of Wands is a card of bravery; of standing tall, holding your ground and proceeding onward even in the face of adversity.

LEO: The Devil

Do you feel like you are stuck in a situation or mind set and can’t escape? Just who is pulling your strings you, another person or the situation?

There may be something going on with you this month that leads you to feeling stuck in a situation you can’t seem to escape from, at least not smoothly or without emotional pain and turmoil.

This is the Devil Card from the Golden Tarot of Klimt. From the looks on all the faces of the figures on this card, breaking free should be foremost on their minds. Yet they seem almost paralyzed with fear, shame and regret.

This card encourages you to move past some of the restrictions you’ve imposed on yourself, particularly with respect to the more unsavory emotions — jealousy, anger, paranoia, fear, etc.

The chains that bind you are not only holding you back but are largely self-imposed. Ask yourself what is preventing you from breaking them? The answer is negative emotions, self-doubts and fears.

If you have a bigger monkey on your back — such as addiction or another unhealthy form of debauchery — now is also the time to come clean with yourself about it and get it taken care of.

Whatever it is, know that the Devil card is here to remind you that only you can reclaim your power. You can liberate yourself from the chains that bind you only if you’re brave enough to face them first.

VIRGO: Three of Swords

Your card this month — from the Mary-el Tarot — is a very different Three of Swords than we’re used to seeing.

The most common version depicts a blood red heart lanced by three swords, symbolizing loss, pain, heartache and rejection. Being stabbed in the heart or broken hearted. A deep searing wound accompanied by unfathomable pain.

And while the Three of Swords is hardly a happy card, this version emphasizes the powerful process of healing and transformation. The broken heart is replaced by a gentle white dove, discovering his own strength and ability to overcome adversity.

The Three of Swords often represents a necessary break that’s been a long time coming. It can refer to the end of a relationship or the loss of a dream that you’ve held onto for far too long. You can see that struggle here with swords that the dove grapples with in this card.

While the sky grows dark behind him, if you look closely you can make out a face in the clouds. It’s as if there’s a protective force behind him as he morphs into a mighty bird.

The storm clouds remind you that it’s not going to be easy. Loss and endings never are. But there’s a potential for triumph inherent in this card that tells you you can rise above.

If you’re dealing with the aftermath of your own heartache right now, know that you have it within your own power to prevail. This card serves as a powerful reminder that even the gentlest creature can overcome adversity — and so can you.

Libra: The Fool

This month you are likely to be thinking about your next moves. Where do you go from here? What are you taking with you and what are you leaving  behind?

The Fool card — this version from Peter and Eileen Connolly’s fabulous Feng Shui Tarot — begs this exact same question. It brings the past, present and future together into one fleeting moment in time. It asks you to suspend your beliefs and rely on your instincts, as you take a leap into the unknown.

It is the first card in the tarot, numbered Zero. It represents the onset of the Fool’s journey and refers to new beginnings, fresh starts, a period of awakening and unlimited potential.

This is the ultimate “leap of faith” card. It’s about jumping into the unknown and trusting the Universe will provide a net. Think about what new adventures are in store for you, and how suspending all beliefs and concerns can get you in the necessary mindset.

It could be a new career path or relationship opportunity, or it could be a dream you’ve talked yourself out of pursuing because you convinced yourself it was impractical. Whatever it is, now is the time to put those resistances aside and allow yourself to just go for it.

You want to think about these concepts, especially as they apply to opportunities that present themselves to you this month. It’s not the time to fret about details or focus on what could possibly go wrong.

You want to think about where you may be focusing too much on the destination (outcome) and not enough on the journey. It may not be easy to trust in this process, but the magic that can happen as a result is well worth the effort.
