After going through my current stash of makeup brushes, I decided I needed to get rid of most of them. Some were too old, and some just weren't that great. I also had way more than I needed and wanted to keep it to the essentials.
So after I tossed them all out, only keeping a small handful of newer ones, I got this Marble Brush Set (Php1,000) from Miss Bella to act as my core brush collection.
The set comes with 10 brushes, all housed in this beautiful, magnetic case you can display on your vanity. You can also choose brushes with either white or black handles, or get them in a pouch. The pouch set has the same brushes and is Php50 cheaper.
1. Fan brush (for highlighter or to dust away fallout)
2. Big angled brush (for blush or contour)
3. Big flat brush (for foundation)
4. Large brush (for powder)
5. Medium brush (for blush or powder)
1. Angled eyeshadow brush (for contouring your nose line or eyeshadow)
2. Round eyeshadow brush (for applying concealer or eyeshadow)
3. Smudge brush (to apply eyeshadow under the eyes)
4. Blending brush (for blending your eyeshadow)
The last one is this small, angled brush that can be used for brows or eyeliner. It's dual-headed and has a spoolie on the other end. What I love about this is the brush end is very thin and precise, which is what I need for doing my brows. Most other eyebrow brushes I've had were too thick or too fluffy.
So, I've been using the brushes for over a week now and I love them! The bristles are super soft, and each brush is undeniably high quality. Considering I paid 1k for the entire set, which equates to Php100 per brush, they definitely don't look and feel like they're only a hundred each. Plus, you get a pretty brush holder to boot. Other sets that cost the same, or more, only come with some flimsy brush organizer or nothing at all. I've seen other beauty influencers boast about how much they love their Miss Bella brushes and now I totally get the (well-deserved) hype.
Getting to work with local brands is always a delight. I love trying out and promoting products that are made right here in the Philippines, especially if they're affordable. While you can definitely love foreign brands, embracing and buying from local ones is just as important in my opinion.
One brand I recently got to collaborate with is Skin Care Hub, and they kindly sent me one of their best sellers, their Rejuvenating Facial Set (Php299), to try out.
Skin care sets are always exciting for me because I like the idea that all the products in it are supposed to compliment each other. Oh, and some great news: Skin Care Hub's products are natural and organic, paraben free, and cruelty free. Love, love, love!
I'm always hesitant to use bar soaps on my face because many have caused breakouts or redness, but this KojicAcid Soap surprisingly didn't give me any. Maybe that's because I don't leave it on for 1-3 minutes like the instructions say. I use it strictly for cleansing, not for cleaning + exfoliating. But even if it's on my face for 30 seconds max., there is still a bit of mild exfoliating which is fine. I can tell it's working because I feel slight tingling on my skin before I rinse it all off.
Exfoliant Toner Toners are a must in my skin care regime. I like using them to restore any lost moisture after washing my face and to prep my face for the rest of my skin care products. This one though is an exfoliating toner. I already use a chemical exfoliant every night (Maxipeel Zero), so to prevent myself from over-exfoliating, I stopped using it to try this out for a couple of weeks instead.
While the exfoliating effects are mild, it's still strong enough to help smoothen skin and get rid of or minimize rough, dry patches on skin. I had a very negative reaction to an expired face mask a few months ago and it left my right cheek very dry and flaky. So far, the soap and toner combination has been really helping it feel and look much better. While the red bumps (acne? rashes?) are still visible, my cheek is no longer as sandpaper-y rough as it used to be. The rest of my face has become much smoother too.
The Rejuvenating Cream is the last step in my (night time) skin care routine. It's also supposed to be exfoliating, though I wish it wasn't. I prefer to have 1-2 exfoliating products at most or else I feel it'll be too much for my skin. But since they're all quite mild, I guess you can use all three with no problem.
I'm not a big fan of the cream, mainly because it's very mattifying. I already have dry skin to begin with, so I want moisturizers to leave my skin with that tacky, sticky sort of feeling as it absorbs and to give me a bit of shine. The formula is also a little 'stiff', and it only softens into a more cream-like consistency when you start to rub it in. Makes it great for traveling (no spills), but it's still best suited for those of you with oily skin because it leaves zero shine behind and has an instant matte finish.
Last but not least is the Sunblock Cream. The lavender color was interesting to me, and lavender tinted makeup bases/correctors are supposed to help skin look brighter and more even-toned, so I think that's the reason for it.
The formula though is exactly like the Rejuvenating Cream so again, not a fan. It just ends up highlighting all the dry areas of my face and is hard to spread evenly. The best sunscreen for me in terms of texture and consistency is still my SUNCUT Ultra UV Water Splash Gel from Japan. The only thing I do like about this one is that it has a decent amount of SPF in it.
Out of the entire set, I think it's clear the soap and toner are my favorites. If I had an oilier complexion, I'm sure I'd also love the sunblock and cream, but it's just not for me. After 2 weeks of regular use, I have to say the set did live up to some of its promises. While I didn't notice any whitening effects (then again, I'm already fair), it has been keeping breakouts at bay and even helps diminish existing ones. The consistent, but still mild, exfoliating also makes my skin looks brighter and smoother thanks to it getting rid of built-up dead skin cells that usually leave my face dull and dry.
For just Php299, I'd say this set is a pretty good deal. If you have oily skin, then it's an even better deal. At least I liked half of the products it came with. If I could repurchase just the soap and toner on their own to maintain the current smoothness and softness of my skin, I definitely would.

Good news, sheet mask addicts! Asia's #1 best-selling sheet mask brand, Dr. Morita, is now in the Philippines. I was lucky enough to be invited to the official launch last week where we learned all about the brand and why it's been so popular for years.
Prior to the launch, I was already a semi-regular Dr. Morita user. The first one I ever tried was their Intense Hydrating Serum Facial Mask. I really liked how it gave my skin a super boost of hydration and made it so soft and supple, even after just one use. Today, though, I'll be reviewing the mask we were given at the launch and one of their top sellers: the Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask (Php74.00/per sheet).
Dr. Morita says...
The Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask includes large, medium, and small Ceramide molecules and complex moisturizing ingredients that keeps skin moist, smooths fine lines, and resists skin aging.
AIW Skin Care 101: Hyaluronic acid is an important ingredient, especially for dry skin. It prevents premature aging because as we all know, the key to keeping skin looking young is moisture and hyaluronic acid is a humectant, a moisture-binding ingredient. Ceramides, on the other hand, are lipids (oils). They also help to retain moisture and strengthen the skin's barrier.
Using my trusty skin analyzer, I'm going to show you the effectiveness of the Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask after just one use. Prior to using the mask, and applying any other skin care products, you can see just how rough and dry my skin naturally is. If zero is the middle ground, all readings actually show up in the negative number zone.
So after washing my face, I put on the mask and let it work its magic for 10-15 minutes. I then toss the mask away and let my skin absorb the essence for another 5-10 minutes. Here are the results...
Look at the difference after using one Dr. Morita mask for just 15 minutes! You can see how powerful the ceramide molecules were that the oils in my skin reached the maximum level on the analyzer. Thanks to those molecules being different sizes like advertised, they really penetrated my skin. The moisture levels of my skin also got a big jump and my skin became much smoother. The numbers don't lie!
Aside from the obviously great effects, I like the fit of the mask too. They adhere almost perfectly to my face which means I reap maximum benefits from it. The fine, cotton material used is also quite thin, so even if it's soaked in essence, it's not heavy and doesn't constantly slide down my face. Dr. Jhou himself, CEO of Dr. Morita, dismissed the myth during the launch that thicker masks have more essence as their masks are thin but can still hold plenty of it.
Have you tried any of the Dr. Morita sheet masks yet? Which one is your favorite? Let me know!

I'm usually not the type of person who feels the need to buy hyped up products. I'm no hype beast, let's put it that way. But every now and then, something starts trending and it catches my interest. Luna Organics' Autumn Clay Blush has been all over Instagram and Facebook these past few weeks. I've seen tons of re-sellers cashing in on its popularity and there are already lots of imitations from other brands promoting their own form of 'clay blush'. Long story short, seeing how this looked on other girls instantly made me want it.
Before I go on, I have to mention that this product is possibly a FAKE and not Luna Organics authentic. I only say that because I bought it off Shopee from the seller haugentleness for Php155. I'm only listing the seller so you can avoid making the same mistake. As far as I know, the original costs a bit more and mine has a slightly bad printing job on the packaging as you can see.
I should have gone straight to the source and ordered from Luna Organics' official Instagram page, but at the time they were sold out and I wanted the convenience of paying COD, so I ended up on Shopee instead. There are many fakes on both Shopee and Instagram though, so beware. I unfortunately thought I was buying the real thing when I doubt I was.
Anyway, fake or not, I'm still going to push through with my review!
The blush comes in the form of a deodorant stick. That's the best way to describe it! You pop off the cap, twist the bottom, and the product comes up. So far, no issues on getting it in and out of the container.
It's a pretty pigmented blush, but it doesn't apply smoothly. Even trying to get a decent swatch took a while. I had to swipe it repeatedly on the back of my hand so it would show up evenly. It also leaves tiny 'clumps' behind, like you can see in the picture, if you use it directly from the applicator. The best method is to use your fingers. I just run my finger a few times along the top and apply with it. From there, I can already start blending it out. Using your fingers also helps to warm up the product a bit, making it creamier and thus easier to work with.
So, here's my take on the 'drunk blush' or 'sunburned' aesthetic that everyone's going for. What do you guys think?
When wearing this, I basically keep everything on my face minimal and use the blush as a focal point. With my fingers, I pick up some product and dab along my cheeks and across the bridge of my nose. After, I blend everything out. You can also use a sponge if you prefer, especially if you feel like you applied too much and want to sheer it out a bit. But in the end, I find my fingers work best. The formula is easy to blend out, especially with the warmth of your fingers to help, and its buildable. I'm a big fan of the color because it mimics almost exactly how my skin looks when I'm actually sunburned, haha. The brick red shade with its orange-y undertone makes it appear more natural on skin. As the final step, I spritz with just a setting spray, not powder, so that I'm left with a fresh, dewy finish.
Did you know you can also use this on your lips? If you've seen the ads on social media, they promote it as a lip color too which I'm wearing in the picture. My sister even complimented me on my 'lipstick' the other day. While I love it as a lip color, it is trickier to use. You really have to prep your lips (exfoliate + moisturize) because the product will emphasize any dryness on them. Aside from that, it has poor staying power as a 'lipstick' anyway so my advice is to use it only as a blush.
I, personally, really like the 'sunburned' or 'drunk blush' look on me. It's something I never tried before and now I go out like this almost daily! It's definitely a new take on my usual day makeup.
I'm still not sure if I bought a fake or not, but since I (really) like it and my skin hasn't reacted negatively to the formula, then I'm keeping it. Even if it's tempting to re-purchase from the same seller once I run out, thanks to the ridiculously affordable price, I'll be sure to order from the original source next time around.
Have you tried out this 'viral blush'? Did you buy an authentic one or do you suspect you got a fake too? What did you think of it?
A lot of us women are kind of picky when it comes to what we use in the shower. What shampoo to use, which body soap is best, or even if you should get a loofah or not. But what many don't really think about is the right kind of product for your most intimate area. That's right - your vagina. Your hoo-ha. Your cave of wonders.
I'm very particular about my own personal feminine hygiene, especially living in a country where one can get sweaty (and funky) in practically every crack and crevice of your body. That's why I like to try out different feminine washes to hunt down the best one for me. The latest one I decided to test was this VWash Plus.
The best defense against any vaginal discomfort is prevention. Protect your most delicate area with daily use of a special product - VWash Plus.
VWash Plus is enriched with sea buckthorn oil which contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids.
Daily washing with VWash Plus leaves a fresh sensation and maintains healthy vaginal flora.
Prevents unpleasant odors and irritations in the intimate areas.
Paraben and SLS/SLES free
Those are a lot of good promises. What's most important for me is keeping away unpleasant odors and making sure my health down there is optimal. Interesting to note, the box has braille on the front which I found neat and very considerate of them to place.
So why is choosing the right kind of feminine wash so important and why can't we just use plain old soap? Aside from keeping you intimately fresh and clean, a good feminine wash will help prevent infection and is a must when you're on your period and if you're sexually active. Not just for your sake, but your partner's as well.
You also just can't reach for ordinary bar soap, lather down there, and call it a day. A (healthy) vagina is naturally acidic with a pH of 3.5, so you have to use a cleanser with the same (or similar) pH level. Like the box shows, soap is way too alkaline. Think of it as wanting to keep your vagina's 'environment' the same as much as possible. Any drastic changes, like using soap, will end up with that 'environment' getting thrown out of whack and lead to dryness, itchiness, infection, unnatural discharge, etc.
I use VWash Plus 1-2 times a day, which is every time I take a shower, basically. It's not too watery nor too thick, which I like, and has a pleasant scent. Now, is it effective? As you can imagine, it's hard to tell if it's really keeping my intimate area at the optimal pH level it promises, but I can say it does keep me feeling fresher down there compared to a lot of other feminine washes I've tried before. Especially during red days! I haven't noticed if it does a better job at preventing irritation. Then again, I hardly get vaginal irritation unless I contract a UTI or am wearing uncomfortable underwear. Can I say I've finally found the best feminine wash for me? Well, maybe! So far I'm happy with VWash Plus and you can bet I'll be buying it regularly until a better product comes along.
Note: The bottle design I have featured in this post is an older one. The new VWash Plus bottles look different!
The weather has been kind of gloomy these days, but trust one of the happiest and most colorful brands, Benefit Cosmetics, to brighten things up with the launch of their newest product - the Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation.
If you're happy and you know it...click the link below to find out what got me tickled pink at the event!
The launch was held at Vanilla Cupcake Bakery in BGC which was transformed into the ultra cute Benefit Sweet Shoppe. It was almost a full house by the time I arrived and there was a bunch of activities for all the guests to do.
Some of those activities included these giant games of jenga and tic tac toe! I saw a few people having a ton of fun with them, especially the jenga game. I didn't opt to play though and just observed.
There was also a colorful pool ball, or should I say tub, that was perfect for photo ops with these Benehunks. That's fellow beauty blogger and friend Genzel from She Sings Beautyin between them. Doesn't she look delighted?
Of course, all your efforts pay off because if you complete all the activities, you get to take home one of these super pretty Benefit pouches and/or a tote bag! The one on the bottom right makes me wish I did them all now.
Being busy can work up one's appetite. Luckily, there was plenty of delicious food to keep us all satisfied! I couldn't get enough of the squid rings (with tartar sauce) and nachos they had, as well as these cute and yummy cupcakes.
These Hello Happy Foundation mascots were a treat to watch as they danced to what else, "Happy" by Pharell! You could even dance along with them as one of the activities. I was just content to watch, haha.
Finally, the star of the show, the new Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation, was on full display for the guests to ogle at and play around with. I'm still dying over how cute the bottles are, guys! This is a sheer to medium coverage foundation that's weightless, breathable, and promises to blur your imperfections. It's also got SPF15 to keep you protected.
Because we Filipinas comes in all shades and sizes, the foundation has a total of 12 shades to choose from. Whether you've got a fair complexion like me, a much deeper one, or are somewhere in between, you're totally covered. Benefit also released pink Hello Happy sponges that you can buy and use along with the foundation.
Finding my perfect shade was a breeze. We didn't even have to do any swatching since the Benefit gals had 'shade stickers' handy which they placed on our necks so that we could determine which one matched us best. Can you guess what shade I am?
Benefit's Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation retails for Php1,800.00 each and is available now at Zalora, Lazada, and all Benefit boutiques.

Who's your favorite Marvel superhero? I've got my top three which are Deadpool, Spider-Man and Iron Man. They've been my top three since I was high school too. I guess I've always had a thing for sarcastic, smart-ass superheroes!
Speaking of Iron Man, next up on my TFS Marvel collection review spree is their Metal Lip Color featuring none other than Tony Stark himself.
The metal lip color provides a cooling sensation with its metal tip and creates a glistening lip look.
The glittery and glossy texture of this lip product sits closely to your lips to impart a vibrant lip color.
This product offers a clean usage by designing the product to dispense a small dose of lip color by rotating the screw.
This lip color is infused with Argan oil and offers hydration and a smooth finish.
The tint is housed in this sleek, metallic red tube. Just like my Black Widow Mascara, it has the same textured, hexagonal pattern that most superhero outfits now have in Marvel films.
This comes in only three shades and they're generically labeled as 01, 02, and 03. I have 01 which is a cool-toned red and a color I prefer when it comes to tints, while 02 is an almost magenta pink and 03 is a light, coral-y shade.
Dispensing the product is a little different from your usual lip tint. When you twist the bottom of the tube, the tint itself oozes out of a metal tip. I find 1-2 twists is enough for each 'lip'. Since the tip is smooth with a defined shape, and since it gets...well, lubricated with the tint, spreading it onto your lips is easy. It's a lot more precise than a roller ball applicator but still less precise than a brush or doe foot one. Once done, the tip does end up looking messy so just wipe it clean and pop the cap back on.
From the swatch you can see the tint itself is pretty pigmented. Of course this is a heavy swatch to really show off the color and it sheers out a little once you start to spread it. The tint also has minute glitter particles in it, but since they're so small you'll barely be able to see them on your lips and they actually only add to the nice glossy shine it gives.
I find this perfect for days you want to keep it low-maintenance when it comes to your makeup, or you just want something 'light' (but still long-lasting) to wear. If you have dry lips like mine, this instantly helps give them that healthy, plumped-up look. It doesn't really cling to or highlight dry patches either, so don't be afraid to apply it even if you can't prep with lip balm first. Like a lot of tints, the staying power is pretty good! Some of it will naturally come off as you eat and drink but my lips are still always left with a visible red hue to them. I rarely need to even retouch this on days I'm wearing it.
So I haven't reviewed all the TFS Marvel products I got, but so far and based on overall performance, this tint is my favorite out of all of them. The way it compliments my skin tone and makes my lips look ahem...quite luscious, wins me over along with its staying power. I also love how versatile it is. Even with dry lips I can swipe this on with no problem and can use it for either a casual day out or more formal event. Long-lasting and versatile? Hmm, no wonder it features Iron Man! ;)
Hey, everyone! I know it's been a hot second since I last posted, but work and life kept getting in the way. I just never seemed to get a chance to actually sit down, take photos, and blog. But since I finally have spare time on my hands, I can get back to blogging again and hopefully this time I can maintain a regular posting schedule.
Continuing my love for all things nerdy, I decided to keep going with reviewing more of the products I got from The Face Shop's Marvel collection. Next up is the The Face Shop Multi Sun Protection Cushion [Marvel Edition]!
The Face Shop says... "The Multi Sun Protect Cushion improves the appearance of your natural skin tone without leaving a sticky sensation.
Easy-to-use sunscreen helps filter and screen harmful UVA/UVB rays using hands-free application.
Improves the appearance of your natural skin tone.
Multi functional cushion with BB cream and UVA/UVB - ray filter.
Since having extensive skincare and wearing makeup is quite common amongst many Korean men, this cushion is actually targeted for men. I don't think the entire collection is - just this one. Of course, makeup knows no gender so I still happily got this for myself! I'm sure many other women did too.
Even if you're not a Marvel or comic book fan, you can already tell the design of this cushion is meant to look like Captain America's shield. The amazing design is what made me want to get this product first from the collection actually! Plus, you can always re-use cushion cases so you can bet I'll be keeping this for as long as possible.
Pretty much every part of this cushion is labeled with the Marvel logo, including the sponge applicator. I don't tend to use the ones that come with the cushions when first applying it, but I keep it for on-the-go retouches.
As far as I know, this particular cushion only comes in one shade and that's The Face Shop's general N23 shade. I'm an NC20 and I can manage to pull off wearing this even if it's a teensy bit dark for my liking, but I have to make sure to blend it past my jawline a little. It also has a pink undertone to it which I'm not a fan of since I have a strong yellow undertone. Thankfully the contrast isn't that obvious. I could try to offset the pink with a yellow toned powder, but when wearing cushions I don't like to set them with too much powder and I'll explain why in a bit.
I'm always happy with makeup that offers a good amount of sun protection too. This has SPF32 PA++ and filters out both UVA and UVB rays. Thumbs up for that!
Like many cushions, the coverage of this one is light but buildable. Even without concealer, it can easily cover or diminish the look of minor blemishes and even out your skin tone. As you can see in the picture, it managed to either hide or minimize the redness/appearance of the blemishes I circled. It also completely concealed all the sebaceous filaments (those 'black dots') on my nose. By the way, I'm already wearing blush in the bottom pic! I just forgot to photograph myself prior to applying it. Felt the need to mention that as this additionally helps cover up any redness on my skin. So yes, that's not 'natural' skin redness on my cheek, just blush. Haha.
After applying, it instantly leaves a semi-dewy finish that you can choose to 'matte down' by setting it with powder or leaving it as is. Since I always prefer a dewy finish to my skin, I apply just a very light dusting of powder on my t-zone then seal everything in with a setting spray. The staying power of this cushion is impressive too, especially given its light coverage. Even without powder or a setting spray, it can pull through humidity, sweating, and long hours with only minor fading. Of course, since my skin is in pretty good condition most of the time (*knocks on wood*) it's difficult to tell how much product has disappeared at the end of the day as my skin doesn't look that different without or without makeup. Buuut, when I do use a makeup wipe I can still see plenty of product on the wipe itself so safe to say most of it still remained intact.
Okay, so this cushion isn't a stand-out from many of the others I've tried before. It's decent, plain and simple. I already have cushions that not only match my skin tone better, but they have a nicer finish, higher coverage, etc. I know there are better ones amongst the entire Face Shop collection too. But let's face it, one big reason you're getting this is for the limited edition packaging. It's why I did! So if you're a Marvel fan like myself, this is worth getting for the ~aesthetics~ alone. In the end, you can always replace the original cushion inside for one you prefer.
