Good grief, why the heck do I need an eye primer? Those were the words out of my mouth many years ago when I first heard about eye primers. I thought, okay, this is just another gimmick... Click To Tweet by the cosmetics companies to get me to spend more money on makeup! Fast forward about 10 years, and here I am… searching for the best eye primer! LOL
Aging sucks. There’s just no other way to put it! The skin around the eyes and on the eyelids is one of the first places you may notice the signs of aging. All of a sudden, you’ve got crepy, discolored eyelids & and the eyeshadows and eyeliners that you’ve been using for years become more difficult to apply and to blend. If you are in your early 40’s, you may not be experiencing it quite yet. But at some point in the next few years, things are going to change.
Thankfully, there are things we can do to improve the texture and appearance of our eyelids and one of those things is to use an Eye Primer. A good eye primer when applied to the lids of the eyes as a base ensures long-lasting and creaseless eyeshadow. I recently tested ten Eye Primers from ten beauty brands in search of the “best” eye primer for mature eyes. I tested both drugstore and high-end brands. For my testing, I applied the same eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara over the eye primers to give each one a fair shot.
TIP: There is No Need to buy a separate primer for your Lips. You can use Eye Primers on the Lips under lipstick or gloss to prevent creasing, flaking, feathering and smudging!
My criteria for the Eye Primer testing was pretty simple. To make the cut, I was looking for the following from each Eye Primer…
Doesn’t Irritate Sensitive Eyes
Provides a smooth base over the entire eyelid with no settling into the crease or lines
Contain little to no shimmer
Lasts All Day (at least 8 hours)
Makes Eye Makeup last longer, extends the wear
Eyeshadow still easy to blend over the Eye Primer
Eye Makeup stays in place over the Eye Primer and doesn’t slip around
Not too much to ask, right??
Out of the Ten Eye Primers that I tested, only five met enough of the criteria above to be included in this list. Ready to find out which ones made it and which one is #1? Let’s get to it. Here they are, starting with #5 on my Best Eye Primer list and ending with #1.
The Claim: Maximizes the intensity, longevity and brilliance of your eyeshadow. Each of the NYX Professional Makeup Eyeshadow Bases creates a smooth canvas for color, increases its durability and prevents fallout.
The Result: I tested this Eye Primer in both SkinTone (a nude with a peachy undertone) and White. I liked them both but I prefer the Skin Tone shade. NYX Eyeshadow Base Primer is packaged in a small glass jar pots. The texture is between a cream and a gel and a little bit of this primer goes a long way. It applies fairly easily if you take a little bit and tap, tap, tap it over your eyelid, then blend it in with your finger. It didn’t settle into the crease and resulted in a nice smooth surface. Eyeshadow was easy to apply over this primer and the primer did a good job of keeping the eye makeup in place all day.
The only con for me was the color. When applied, it is a peachy toned nude and a little bit dark for those with fair skin. If you have fair skin, this could still work for you but just use a little dab of it to keep the color from ending up too dark.
The Claim: A long-lasting, crease preventing eye lid primer. This light reflecting primer smooths imperfections, locks in makeup and feels feather light on the skin. With its complimentary nude hue, it softens and brightens the eyes, creating a flawless finish.
The Result: This Eye Primer is very lightweight with a creamy texture. You only need a little dab for the entire eyelid. It goes on smoothly and does have a nice brightening effect. There is a little bit of shimmer to this, but not too much. Pixi by Petra Eye Bright Primer doesn’t settle into the crease or lines and eye makeup applies easily over it. Eye Makeup stays in place and lasts all day. Pixi by Petra Eye Bright Primer is packaged in a click and turn pen with a soft, cushiony flock tip applicator.
I would recommend waiting a couple of minutes after applying this before starting with your eye makeup. It’s so creamy that it needs a minute or two to set.
The Claim: Gives you all-day, crease-proof eyeshadow security. Prep your lids to maximize the wear and intensity of your shadow.
The Result: Cover Girl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer is packaged in a tube with an applicator wand. It is a creamy primer that dries to a flesh toned color that provides good coverage of any discoloration on the eyelids. The consistency of this primer is a bit sticky which makes blending eyeshadow over it more difficult. The primer doesn’t crease or settle into lines and did make the eye makeup last all day without moving. But the sticky texture of this primer kept it at #3 on the list. Still a good option for the price!
The Claim: A primer for indestructible, all-day eyeshadow, Eyeshadow Primer Potion delivers everything you could possibly want in an eye primer: No creasing. More vibrant color. Smoother application.
The Result: Packaged in a squeezable tube, Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in Original is a beige colored silky primer that dries to a transparent finish. It applies and blends beautifully and doesn’t crease or settle into lines. The staying power is good and it does seem to extend the wear of eye makeup. It also enhances the pigmentation of eye shadows. My only complaint with this Primer is that it I wish there was a little bit more color to it when it dries. It’s very sheer and doesn’t cover ALL imperfections such as veins and freckles. But overall, this primer checks all the other boxes and that’s why it’s #2 on the list!
Urban Decay Primer Potion comes in several other formulas including an Anti-Aging formula that claims to fight wrinkles and improve tone and texture over time. It also claims to instantly wake up tired eyes and minimize the appearance of redness, crepiness and other imperfections.
I obtained a sample of the Anti-aging Formula from Sephora. I didn’t use it long enough to tell if it does anything to improve tone and texture over time. Otherwise, I don’t see any benefit in this formula over the Original. It basically does the same thing but costs $2.00 USD more than the Original Formula.
The Claim: Featherweight eye primer that locks down shadows for 24 hours of crease-proof, budge-proof, waterproof wear and true color payoff.
The Result: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, for me, was pretty much perfect. Packaged in a squeezable tube, the consistency and texture of this eye primer is lightweight and creamy and applies effortlessly. It provides a nice, natural looking base that dries to an almost colorless look. Although there is no noticeable color, it still covers imperfections and discoloration and doesn’t settle into the crease or fine lines. The staying power is excellent, lasting all day long and eyeshadow doesn’t move. The waterproof formula stood up very well to the 100% humidity we are currently experiencing here in South Carolina. Quite simply, I couldn’t find a thing wrong with this Eye Primer and that’s why it came in at #1 on the list!
Price: $20.00 USD 0.35 oz.
Do you have a favorite Eye Primer? Have you tried any of the Primers on my list? As always, I would love to hear from you! Please leave your comments below. I really appreciate you stopping by & reading!

Believe it or not, this is my first Urban Decay Palette. I'm pretty sure I'm the only Beauty Blogger that doesn't own one of Urban Decay's iconic and very popular, Naked Palettes. Click To Tweet When I saw the new Backtalk Palette was going to be released, I knew I wanted to try it as it appeared to be a good all in one palette and looked like it would be perfect for travel.
Urban Decay’s Backtalk Eye & Face Palette contains eight eyeshadows, two blushes and two highlighters. The shades in the palette were inspired by the brand’s Backtalk Vice Lipstick shade which is a nude-mauve that’s supposed to be flattering across all skin tones. It was released as a limited edition palette and is available exclusively at Sephora.
A double-sided, removable mirror acts as a divider between the eyeshadow shades and the blush and highlighter shades in the Urban Decay Backtalk Palette.
Urban Decay Backtalk Palette is a mixture of berries, pinky rose and copper shades which Urban Decay claims is universally flattering on all skin tones. The packaging of the palette is unique with the eyeshadows on one side and the blush/highlighters on the other side. A double-sided, removable mirror acts as a divider between the eyeshadow shades and the blush and highlighter shades. I don’t know that I’ll use the mirror very much unless I’m traveling but I appreciate the mirror more than I do the useless brushes that normally come in a palette like this!
Let’s dive in to my thoughts on this palette… Urban Decay’s Backtalk Palette contains eight beautiful shades, 3 mattes, 2 satins and 3 metallic/shimmers.
I’ll start with the eyeshadow. There are eight beautiful shades, 3 mattes, 2 satins and 3 metallic/shimmers. The shades included in the palette are (shown from left to right in the picture above)
3 SHEETS (pale pink-nude matte)
BARE (light pinky-peach satin)
CURVE (metallic rose shimmer with silver micro-glitter)
BACKTALK (soft rosy mauve matte)
SHADE (deep fuchsia satin)
ATTITUDE (metallic red-copper)
WTF (reddish-brown matte)
180 (metallic brown-red)
I love that they named one of the shades WTF ! I am not sure what the significance of that is, but…. on my not so good days, I’ll definitely be wearing that one! Lol
I’ve tried multiple combinations with these shades normally using 3 Sheets, Bare and Curve as a base color and using Backtalk in the crease. I then apply either Shade or Attitude along the top and bottom lashes and finish with 180 in the outer corners. As for WTF, it just goes well… wherever, normally just above or in the crease.
The shadows blend beautifully and the pigment is decent, although I must say I was expecting a little bit more based on what I’ve heard about the Naked Palettes. These shadows create a soft pink, smokey eye look. For a bolder finish, you would definitely need to apply multiple layers. During application, there was a small amount of fall out from the shadows. And I found that true to Urban Decay’s claim, these eyeshadows were long wearing, with the color lasting all day.
On to the Blushes and Highlighters…
Two Blushes & Two Highlighters complete the other side of Urban Decay’s Backtalk Palette.
The Blush and Highlighter side of the palette contains two blushes (shown left to right in the picture above) and two highlighters. Again, the shades are quite beautiful.
CHEAP SHOT (medium pink-nude)
DOUBLE TAKE (rich mauve with slight shimmer)
LOW KEY (pink-peach)
PARTY FOUL (light pink-nude shimmer)
The texture of both the Blush and Highlighters is a creamy powder and they both blend beautifully. Again, I was a little disappointed with the pigmentation of the blushes. While they look very vibrant in the pan, I didn’t find that during application. I have very fair skin and I needed at least 2 or 3 layers of the blush for a daytime look and even more for an evening look. I tried them both separately and mixing the two together. That being said, the colors are very pretty and provide a nice, natural looking flush.
The Highlighters are, in my opinion, the star of show in this Palette. The texture is perfect and they blend so nicely into the skin. For those of us with mature skin, these highlighters are perfect. They don’t contain a lot of glitter or too much shimmer and the result is a nice smooth finish that doesn’t settle into fine lines & wrinkles. I use them along the upper cheekbone, down the bridge of the nose, under the eyebrows and the Low Key shade is perfect on the apple of the cheek for that red carpet glowy look.
If you prefer a bold, blinded by the light highlighter, you probably won’t like these. But if you like a subtle, pretty glow, these highlighters are great. Both shades give a beautiful, lit from within glow to the skin.
My final verdict on the Urban Decay Backtalk Palette is somewhat of a mixed bag. While I love the Highlighters, the Eyeshadow and Blushes were just okay and I was a little disappointed with them. Maybe I was expecting more after being exposed to all of the hype around the Naked Palettes. Overall, I think this is just an average palette. I will use it for travel and I’ll definitely use the highlighters a lot. Otherwise, I probably won’t be reaching for this palette on an every day basis.
Urban Decay Backtalk Palette retails for $46.00 USD and while that is a price I’d be willing to pay if this were a holy grail palette, I don’t think this particular one is worth it. I still plan on trying one of the Naked Palettes and I love a lot of other Urban Decay products but sadly, I think they missed it for the most part on this one.
Have you tried Urban Decay’s Backtalk Palette? What are your favorite palettes? As always, I’d love to hear from you. Please leave your comments below!
Top 10 Summer Beauty Tips For Healthy, Glowing Skin & More!
Summer 2018 will be here before you know it! Because women like to be prepared, I’ve put together a list of my Top 10 Summer Beauty Tips for Women Over 40! From bright, frizz free hair to healthy, glowing skin, you’ll be beach ready for the hottest season of the year! Let’s get to it…
Summer Beauty Tip #1 Sunscreen – Broad Spectrum Protection Spf 30 or moreProtect your Skin year round with an SPF 30 or higher!
This one is a NO brainer but it is SO important that I have to include it as #1 on the list. Although sunscreen should be a staple in your routine year round, it is vitally important during the summer when the Sun’s dangerous UV rays are the highest. (May – August). The general rule of thumb from dermatologists is that you should protect your skin year round by using a sunscreen that offers the following:
Broad Spectrum Protection (protects against UVA & UVB Rays)
Spf 30 or higher
Sunscreen should be applied to every exposed area of your body, head to toe including your face, neck & the top of your feet!
Summer Beauty Tip #2 Take a Salt Bath Twice a WeekTake a Salt Bath Twice a Week for Healthy, Glowing Skin!
Soak twice weekly in an Epsom Salt or Dead Sea Mineral Salt Bath for healthy, glowing, moisturized Skin. There are so many benefits to a Salt Bath. Salt’s mineral content helps restore the protective barrier in skin and helps it hold hydration. Result = Moisturized Skin! Have you every noticed that your skin doesn’t wrinkle or prune after a long soak in salted water? Enough said!
Summer Beauty Tip #3Vitamin C Inside & Outside!Vitamin C Inside & Out Every Day!
Take a Vitamin C Supplement Daily & Apply topical Vitamin C in the form of a serum daily. Vitamin C is necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues. It’s involved in many body functions, including the formation of collagen, absorption of iron, the immune system, wound healing, and the maintenance of cartilage, bones, and teeth.
The human body doesn’t have the capacity to generate Vitamin C. Therefore, it needs to be received through food and other supplements. You can get it naturally through the foods that contain it such as oranges, red peppers, strawberries, grapefruit, broccoli and kale. And you can get it in the form of a vitamin supplement. Vitamin C is water-soluble, which means that if you take more than your body can use, the excess is usually excreted without causing harm. That being said, the recommended daily intake for Vitamin C is 65-90 mg. per day with an upper limit of 2000 mg. I take a 1000 mg Vitamin C supplement daily. Of course, you should consult with your doctor before adding a vitamin supplement to your routine.
Benefits of Vitamin C when applied topically to the Skin include promoting collagen formation, mitigating the effects of free radicals and helping to maintain the firmness of the Skin. Sounds good to me and most Dermatologists agree that you should add a topical Vitamin C product to your skincare routine.
Summer Beauty Tip #460-Second Trick to Keep Lips Soft & PlumpThis 60 second a day trick will keep your lips healthy & full!
#4 is really simple and I’ve been doing it for over 20 years. Every morning & night after brushing your teeth, rinse off your toothbrush and then brush your lips vigorously top and bottom for 60 seconds! Result – smooth, plump, lipstick ready lips!
Summer Beauty Tip #5Tired of Dry Hands & Cuticles? Try this..Hint: I DON’T use this on my face!
I discovered this on accident and it has solved my dry hands & cuticles problem after years of trying to find the perfect hand cream. Keep a jar of Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser by your bathroom sink. As your LAST step every night before going to bed, wash your hands with Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser. Rinse Off & dry.Result – Wake up with soft, moisturized hands & cuticles. I swear it lasts all day even through multiple hand washings throughout the day. And it makes hand creams even more effective.
Summer Beauty Tip #6Don’t Forget the Sunscreen on Your LipsDon’t Forget to Use Sunscreen on your Lips!
Be sure to use sunscreen on your lips. Make this the first step in your lip routine every morning! Apply a lip balm with Spf daily and throughout the day as needed. I love Supergoop’s MintFusion Lip Balm SPF30. It hydrates, smooths & protects!
Summer Beauty Tip #7Layer Body Oil & Body Lotion for Bathing Suit Ready SkinLayer Body Oil, Then Body Lotion for healthy, glowing Skin!
#7 is something I do year-round. In the Summer, it is especially important to have moisturized, healthy, glowing skin as much more of our body is exposed! This method of layering body oil, followed by body lotion works great year-round! Here’s what you do, immediately after getting out of the shower or bath (within 1 minute), apply body oil to your entire body, then air dry or pat dry if needed. Immediately follow with a good body lotion. Result? Healthy, Glowing, Soft, Touchable Skin! I love Kopari’s Coconut Body Oil, followed by Ahava Mineral Body Lotion! Absolute Heavenly Combination!
Summer Beauty Tip #8Switch to a Silicone Based Foundation for the SummerSwitching to a Silicone Based Foundation in the Summer will help your makeup from melting!
Switch to a Silicone based Foundation in the Summer when the humidity is high. Silicone acts as a film barrier between your skin and the humidity. This prevents it from seeping into your pores and running down your face.
Summer Beauty Tip #9Bronzer is your Best Friend!Add Warmth to the Skin with Bronzer, Perfect for Summer!
Bronzer brightens the skin & gives it warmth, perfect for Summertime! In the Summer, I like to apply a matte bronzer as my last step over after foundation, blush & finishing powder. With a big fluffy brush, make a heart-shaped over the face starting at the forehead and working down to the cheeks. Then sweep it along the jaw line. This gives nice definition and a natural looking..
Let's be honest... whether you're a fan of the Kardashians or not... Kim Kardashian West is stunning, always has perfect makeup and that famous GLOW! Click To Tweet
Recently, she revealed on Snapchat that her secret weapon for perfect makeup and glowy skin is Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist! That caught my attention and I remembered I had a bottle of this which I purchased last Christmas on sale. I had forgotten all about it!
Kim Kardashian West revealed the way she uses the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is by spraying it onto her sponge and makeup brush before blending to achieve perfectly glowy makeup!
OK back to the bottle I purchased back in December…
I located it and started using it right away and it has become part of my daily makeup routine. This stuff is truly AMAZing! Literally glow in a bottle for your face.
So what exactly is it? Here’s the description from Tatcha’s website:
“Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is a silky liquid spray on moisturizer of Squalane, Red Algae and Tatcha’s anti-aging HADASEI-3 Complex. This milky emulsion contains moisturizers and humectants that leave skin rehydrated. Can be used to refresh bare skin or cosmetics throughout the day, without buildup or residue, instantly softening and smoothing without streaking or disturbing makeup. Does not contain high levels of alcohol and fragrance found in conventional hydrating sprays, which can dry out the skin. The milky emulsion contains moisturizers and humectants that leave skin rehydrated. It can be used to refresh bare skin or cosmetics throughout the day, without buildup or residue, instantly softening and smoothing without streaking or disturbing makeup. I'll be honest with you. I wasn't expecting much from this. To my surprise, I'm really impressed with it. It makes an absolutely beautiful setting spray for your makeup. Just one spritz of this... Click To Tweet on each side of the face leaves your skin glowing, not shiny.
I’ve also tried Kim Kardashian’s method of spritzing some onto my makeup sponge before blending. This method provides an all over dewy glow to your skin. Personally, I prefer the more subtle glow I get from spritzing it on as a setting spray but if dewy, glowing all over skin is your thing, you’ll love Kim’s method!
Other ways I use the Skin Mist are:
To refresh makeup throughout the day.
One spritz on each side of the face as the last step in my skincare routine at night before bed.
Spritzing on as a primer before applying makeup.
To refresh the skin during or after airline flights.
As a body spray in areas where you want a glow (such as shoulders or decolette)
On my hair as a leave in conditioner
Overall, Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist is an excellent product and a good multitasker. My only complaint with this product is the price. Otherwise, it’s holy grail status! At $48.00 USD for a 1.35 oz bottle, it’s a bit pricey but if you can afford it, definitely worth it! Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is also available in a smaller trial sized 0.4 oz bottle for $20.00 USD which is a good option if you want to try it before buying the full-sized bottle!
Have you tried Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist? What’s your favorite setting spray for your makeup? I’d love to hear from you. Please leave your comments below!

This Blush Kit from the cult favorite brand, Anastasia Beverly Hills, was released late last year and is part of a Limited Edition Collection. Anastasia Beverly Hills is known for creating amazing brows and radiant glowy skin. Click To Tweet We’ll get right to my Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Kit Review. But first, I thought you would find this interesting. Anastasia Beverly Hills is social media savvy, particularly on Instagram where the brand has grown tremendously. I recently read an interview given by the founder of the brand, Anastasia Soare who spoke about their social media presence and success. When asked about working with bloggers and social media influencers and whether or not they paid them to post about their products, her response was…
“They are my friends. We don’t pay friends. We send them products, and whatever they like, they post. I never ask anybody to talk about it. I want people to be in love with what I make. Everything that I do has to be organic. You cannot fool women. You fool women once with a bad product and they will never buy again. Give them a good product and they will go crazy. Everything is organic with us. That’s the reason we are successful.”
I was not gifted this Blush Kit, but I really liked her answer. She is 100% right about women!
Okay, now we can move on to my thoughts on the Blush Kit!
These blushes are finely milled powders and highly pigmented. The colors are beautiful and a little bit goes a long way. You can use them individually or combine them for a multi-dimensional, contoured look. Click To Tweet I love the application of these blushes. They blend flawlessly and the color lasts all day. The size of the palette is such that you can easily fit a makeup brush into each pan.
To contour or create a multi-dimensional look with the blush kit, Anastasia Beverly Hills recommends the following:
Apply the deepest shade right above your contour and blend upward. (Radiant Kit – Terrace; Gradient – Blackberry)
Take one of the medium shades on your upper cheek and sweep toward the center of your face. (Radiant Kit – Coastline; Gradient – Dusk)
Finish with the brightest shade on the apple of your cheek and blend into the medium shade. (Radiant Kit – Spoiled; Gradient – Vegas)
Overall, I really love this Blush Kit. The colors in the Kit are very wearable for everyday use and highly pigmented. The formula is soft and blends well and doesn’t settle into fine lines. The price of $30.00 USD is not bad considering you are getting four blushes and can also use this as a contour kit.
Colors are wearable
Can be used as a blush or for contouring
Size of the Kit is perfect for traveling or carrying in your purse
Price is good for four blushes
Quality is excellent with a soft, highly pigmented, blendable formula
This Blush Kit is a Limited Edition and won’t be here forever! Get it while you can!
Have you tried Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Kit? Which shade? What is your all time favorite blush? As always, I’d love to hear from you! Please leave your comments below!

They say the grass is always greener on the other side. Newsflash: No it isn't!! Click To Tweet This will all make sense in just a second. I’ve been using Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser for over 20 years. Periodically I stopped using it because I wanted to try a “new” cleanser or something with the latest, greatest ingredients. What I ended up with is a closet full of cleansers that I never use and a whole bunch of empty Philosophy Purity Made Simple bottles.
Let me tell you a bit about why I love this cleanser so much.
According to Philosophy, “Purity Made Simple one-step facial cleanser is an award-winning cleanser that melts away dirt, oil and makeup. It also tones and lightly hydrates in one simple step for skin that feels perfectly clean and comfortably balanced. Purity Made Simple is formulated for all skin types and is gentle enough for the sensitive eye area.”
I can honestly tell you that all of this is true.
This cleanser is a lightweight, creamy formula that melts away makeup, dirt and oil. It leaves your skin feeling super clean and fresh but never dry or tight. Click To Tweet It has little to no scent. Some have said it has a very slight citrus scent although honestly, I don’t think it does. The formula lathers well and a dime sized amount of the cleanser is all you need for your entire face. I have sensitive skin and this cleanser never irritates it.
Perhaps my favorite thing about this cleanser is the fact that I can use it to wash both my face AND my eyes! Most cleansers require a separate product for your eyes. Click To Tweet In fact if you read the bottle on many cleansers it states to avoid the eye area. This is a pet peeve of mine. We lead busy lives, right? And we already have to apply multiple products every night. Who wants to purchase two separate products just to wash your face? Purity Made Simple also tones the skin, replacing the need for a toner! And if that isn’t enough, it provides light hydration as well.
This cleanser is a multitasker! It cleans, tones and hydrates! Can’t ask for much more than that!
Thankfully, my mother taught me from a very early age to never go to bed without washing my face. It really is the most important step of your skincare routine. I hope you are a member of the clean face club! Click To Tweet
If you’re still searching for your Holy Grail Cleanser, I would definitely recommend giving Purity Made Simple a try. It removes makeup, cleanses, tones, lightly hydrates and you can use it on your eyes! What more could you ask for?
This multipurpose stick from Nars has been around for many years, has a cult following and is surrounded by a lot of hype. Although I'm really picky when it comes to cream blushes, I decided it was time to take the plunge. Click To Tweet On Black Friday, I purchased my FIRST stick of Nars The Multiple and I’ve been using it every day since.
Nars The Multiple is billed as cream to powder formula and is marketed as a multi stick that can be used on the face, eyes, lips and body. I have been using Nars Powder Blushes for years and always loved them. Until now, I hadn’t tried the cult favorite, Nars The Multiple. I’ve read mixed reviews of the Multiple stick, women either seem to love it or not like it at all.
Let’s jump right in to my thoughts on this multi-tasking stick.
On Black Friday, I purchased my first stick of Nars The Multiple!
Nars The Multiple comes in 11 shades. I purchased it in the shade Orgasm (a peachy, pink shimmer) which is loved worldwide by millions of women. In the powder formula, the shade Orgasm gives that celebrity glow to the cheeks. The cream to powder formula of this stick is very easy to apply and the texture is fantastic. It melts right into the skin and blends effortlessly.
How & Where to Use it…
On the cheeks, The Multiple provides a sheer wash of color and a nice glow. The color is very light and although buildable, I’ve found the stick alone does not provide enough color on my fair skin. Layered on top or under another blush, it’s perfect. Other shades may be different, but for Orgasm, I would describe this as more of a highlighter than a blush. I like to apply the Multiple first and then apply a mineral powder blush on top. I use Bare Minerals Radiance in Rose and the combination is perfect! If you’re looking for that red carpet glow, this is one formula that works!
On the Eyes, I love the Multiple! For a natural or everyday eye look, this is perfect. One swipe of this across the eyelids is all you need. It blends perfectly. I’ve read reviews from others who said they needed a primer on the eyes before applying this. I don’t use a primer and have had no issues. I also use it under the brow bone as a highlighter.
On the Lips, this was a NO go for me. Too much shimmer, not enough color. Perhaps in another shade I would try again on the lips but for now, I’ll stick to cheeks and eyes.
Did you Know? Nars The Multiple can also be used on the body to highlight collarbones and shoulders or anywhere that want to add a glow to the skin. Click To Tweet Nars the Multiple in the shade Orgasm, a peachy pink shimmer. This is step 1 in my formula for a “red carpet” glow!
I am excited to try Nars the Multiple in other shades. However, I won’t be buying it too often because the price for this multi stick is a whopping $39.00 USD. Now granted, I think the stick will last a long time but the price tag is still a bit high. Overall, I am pleased with Nars the Multiple and will purchase again when I’m in the mood to splurge!
Nars the Multiple Pros:
Portable & great for on the go touchups throughout the day!
Cream to Powder formula applies & blends flawlessly
