Morning, Cakies! Anyone else hungry just looking at this summery breakfast spread? In our latest collaboration with JNSQ wine (you might’ve seen our chic French bridal shower featuring their rosé awhile back), we wanted to show you all how to make a colorful breakfast bar to serve up at a brunch bridal shower. If you’ve been obsessing over the monochromatic and color block wedding inspiration we’ve shared so far this year, you’ll love how easy it is to make a breakfast bar using two of our fave trending colors: pink + yellow. Here’s how it’s done!
First things first, choose your wine. For this design, we played off the colors of JNSQ‘s two signature wines, Rosé Cru and Sauvignon Blanc. The gorgeous grapefruit tones of this rosé make it almost TOO easy to get inspired. Plus, it comes along with JNSQ’s signature rose bottle stopper. So sweet!
You may already know about JNSQ and their Rosé Cru (perhaps you were inspired by our French bridal shower?) But if not, there’s a few things you should know about this rosé. It’s carefully sourced from one of our fave destinations, California’s central coast, and the combination of Grenache, Pinot Gris, Syrah, and Viognier that make up its delicate flavor make it the perfect summer sip.
A little behind its taste… JNSQ Rosé Cru is summer in a glass, no matter what the calendar says. Not too sweet, but never bitter, this grenache-forward Rosé is clean and aromatic with a touch of strawberry and hints of Bing cherry. The dynamic flavors are accented with savory herbal and white floral notes that make it crisp and elegant, perfect for sipping by the pool, serving at a barbecue, or toasting over a candlelit dinner.
To give our pink bridal shower scene some cheerful contrast, we paired the Rosé Cru with JNSQ’s other signature wine, a crisp, bright Sauvignon Blanc. One more pretty bottle? Yes, please!
Why not have your grazing board follow the monochromatic theme? Yellow is so so trendy right now, and it’s especially fun to play with for a bridal brunch (especially if your wedding colors aren’t quite as bold). Veggies and fresh fruit are natural pairings for this Sauv, so it’s the perfect choice for a brunch celebration.
Keep your tableware minimal and white for this look, so the yellows really pop. And yellow wildflowers are so easy peasy to come by this time of year, you could even DIY your own arrangements!
The tasting details for JNSQ’s Sauvignon Blanc… This Sauvignon Blanc brings California sunshine from the vineyards to the table. Light and bright, it offers notes of lemon and green apple, and hints of tropical fruit. The clean texture and delicate body make every sip a treat. It’s a refreshing way to enjoy brunch on a patio, or cool off on a hot night.
A few bottles of each oughta do the trick! Shop both wines at JNSQ.com. And if you try out a spread like this for your next party or a bridal shower, be sure to tag us on Insta!
Oh bridal shower season, how we adore this most celebratory time! Our gal Ashley of The House of Gather is here today sharing a few of her pro bridal shower planning tips, along with the beautiful all-white shower she styled for bride-to-be Jenny. Think olive branch, cute desserts, a beautiful venue, and one epic grazing table. Thank to Laura Palacios for sharing all the lovely photos!
This epic grazing table was created by The Avenue in Miami, for all you South Florida locals. Ashley dreamt up the floating floral install for above the table, creating a focal point and a spot for mingling.
Now, for Ashley’s tips on throwing an intimate bridal shower or special event at home…
Outsource! When you are hosting a party at your home don’t be afraid to ask for help. Do the things you love and enjoy and then bring in the experts to execute the rest! The Avenue Miami blew my mind with their meat and cheese display, and they are super affordable! The price ends up being just a little more to hire them to come in and do their magic compared to going to the store and doing a grazing table yourself.
Keep it simple. Design can be beautiful without going over the top. Jenny had a color story and we incorporated simple florals, a dry floral installation, and simple signage to tie it all together. The food and desserts really spoke for themselves.
Make your guests feel welcome. From the moment they walk through your door welcome them with hospitality. Greet them, offer them a beverage, take their purse or jacket, show them where the restroom is, introduce them to other guests, etc.
Handmade Goods. This can be anything from fresh flowers and personalized signs to fresh baked desserts. Add a small personal touch that people can see there were time and effort put into the execution. Jenny handmade all the signage, which was so special. Brigadeiro Shop went over the top with the handmade Brazilian sweets (Jenny’s Brazilian). And Cloud 9 Bakery always brings it home with the most delicious cakes.
A statement we live by at The House of Gather: “Don’t let the planning overshadow the purpose”. The most important part when entertaining at home is to be present and enjoy your time with your guests. If things aren’t perfect, your guests won’t notice. Have fun and be in the moment with them!
Such a fun day!
Still can’t get over this grazing table, though…

We have to say, we’re pretty smitten with some of the spring wedding trends we’re seeing so far this year, from wild, colorful blooms to super playful, bold tablescapes. So when it came to styling our spring bridal shower with Crate and Barrel, we were more than ready to see how all we could channel all those wildflower vibes in a laidback, backyard celebration. And in case you’re wondering, yes, all those classic kitchen staples and timeless entertaining pieces you’ve been adding to your Wedding Registry do look quite at home all dressed up in edible flowers and fresh fare…
Offerings created the most gorgeous spring florals for our backyard affair. No to mention these sweet floral crowns…
So, we’ve mentioned Crate and Barrel’s Mercer collection before, which comes in white, grey, and now denim. Isn’t it the prettiest pop of blue? You can actually snag this shade on your appetizer, salad, and dinner plates (to name just a few staples of the line) or mix and match with the more classic pieces on your Registry.
Naturally we had to connect with flower pro Loria Stern on all-things wildflower. She’s known as the queen of flower pressed shortbread cookies, cakes, and delicious, fresh, floral food.
Pretty grazing boards are a staple of spring and summer, if you ask us.
Speaking of grazing boards. Serveware is probably one of the most important tabletop pieces at a laidback party like this. When you’re gathering around a long table, having a few different serving trays, like the Carson Cheese Board shown here makes it easy for guests to snack in comfort. They break up the table and you can serve all your fave finger foods at once.
DIY tip: Make your own DIY low table for spring and summer entertaining out of pine planks and cinderblocks. This one is about 4′ wide and 12′ long with space for 6 guests on each side.
The Dax Double Old-Fashioned Glass is ideal for outdoor dining. When adding to your Gift Registry in honor of an outdoor event, don’t forget about all the ways you can use your tabletop and barware after the fact. Hi, summer party!
Even if your bridal shower is super casual and boho, you want to make sure your guests are extra cozy. You’ll be dining on the ground, after all. This Alma Ivory Fringe Indoor/Outdoor Rug and lots of big pillows elevate the look of the event while keeping everyone comfortable. Plus, it creates a little designated dining area which is super helpful when celebrating in a wide open space like a backyard.
Who here is in the *pink parties forever* camp?! This all-pink Cinco de Mayo bash coming to us from party extraordinaire Jacqui of Deets & Things and Alissa Noelle Photography is totally our kinda fête. From the mini piñata favors to the blushy blooms, it would be impossible not to have a good time here. Not to mention, it’s full of ideas for all you planning a Mexican-inspired bachelorette party or bridal shower, too. Pink churros, anyone?!
Love that you could totally throw such a festive soiree right in your own backyard!
Jacqui explains, When NOMAD Cocktail Co. is in the house, there’s no doubt the party arrives. Their meticulous attention to detail and fresh ingredients made for some amazingly tasty drinks that were, not to mention, oh so pretty! Churros and cocktails anyone? Churro Service’s pink delights were the perfect complement to that drink in your other hand! Rounding out our sweets corner was Sugar Crush Sweets’ pink sugar tacos and cacti cake.
Seriously though, how fun are these pink churros?! Topped with cacti too?
Yep, those would be pink sugar tacos. So many creative ideas for Cinco de Mayo here.
When its Cinco de Mayo, calling on Lula Flora for mini piñata favors is a must! Her metallic cacti were the perfect sparkly addition to L’entramise’s modern hostess tableware! Finally, I loved that the different pink tones on the table were pulled together so beautifully by Not Just In Novels dynamically gorgeous blooms! You can never have too much pink in my book!

Bonjour, Cakies! As you may have gathered from our Parisian elopement, we’ve got Paris on the mind more than ever this year (our 10th year, to be exact!). So when it came to styling up this most festive first bridal shower of the season, we had to opt for all things “France in the spring”. Think pretty treats, pops of yellows, and a delicious French-inspired California rosé from JNSQ (the name means je ne sais quoi, to represent its exceptional, hard-to-define quality, after all)—adorning the tables at Festoon.
Spring blooms, check. Spring desserts, check. And most importantly, a little something to sip…
We were most inspired by JNSQ‘s Rosé Cru when dreaming up the design for this bridal shower. It is a California wine “with a French accent”, and their elegant bottle and resealable rose stopper (the icing on the cake, right?!?) just exudes that air of effortless Parisian chic we were after. Which makes sense, as the bottle was actually crafted by a French glass designer to be reminiscent of a perfume bottle, and is meant to be held as a keepsake for long after. Yep, it’s *that* perfect for showering a bride-to-be!
But believe it or not, the Insta-worthy presentation isn’t the only reason we had to have this wine for our French bridal shower… It’s the perfect taste for a light and celebratory occasion, too! Not too sweet and never bitter, JNSQ Rosé Cru is everything what you want from a rosé but don’t know exactly how to describe. Like summer in a glass, honestly.
The wine’s fruit flavors (you’ll notice apple, subtle red cherry, and strawberry at first) make it an easy pick for light bites you might serve at a brunchy bridal soiree, but it’s so light and balanced, you can enjoy it on its own. Perfect for parties where guests may be sipping or snacking or both, obvs!
And of course… a few dozen macarons are a must, always.

Now that’s a ring, amiright?! Bride-to-be Selene is getting married in sunny Mexico so the gals at Beijos Events helped her embrace the winter vibes with white on white on white, all in her parents beautiful Palos Verdes backyard overlooking the water. (Yup, we’re jelly.) All the photos Megan Welker shared are just so perfectly “winter in California”, but we gotta say, it would be gorg in any season…
Beijos Events shares, We designed around all things white and metallic and love the way it came together. The tables were set with tabletop items from L’entramise and Bonjour Fete—white and neutral tones complimented each other so well. For florals our friend Alexis of Wild Darling Floral really outdid herself, gorgeous winter greens mixed with white bohemian florals were breathtaking. We even had her make mini floral wreaths for each guest to take home for each place setting. We added a cute tag from Poppy Jack Shop with the couple’s hashtag.
So sweet! They also added an ornament for each guest. Since the shower was in early December, they all got to leave with a little sparkly addition to their trees.
Uh huh, and how about that gorgeous ring cookie cake, impressive Madeline tower, and all these other swoon-worthy sweets…
Yep, probably the most perfect way to ring in the last Friday of January, in our opinions.
Selene says, Being showered with love by all the beautiful, strong women in my life is an honor. The setting was gorgeous! A perfect California-style winter wonderland. The custom ornaments with our wedding location coordinates gave me chills. My baby sister Brenda andBeijos Events executed my bridal shower perfectly. No pressure for the big day!

We’ve always loved the tea party theme for bridal showers, especially for the bride-to-be that loves all things romantic, floral, and vintage. But this concept from Olea & Fig Studio in collaboration with Tricia of Happily Ever Style takes the theme up a notch with a modern tablescape and the dreamiest of blush + mauve flowers that BloomBar Floral Design whipped up for the occasion. Take a cue from these classic, yet modern party ideas in the photos Kylee Yee Photography shared:
Annie of Olea & Fig Studio says, We’ve always been a fan of Tricia’s (the blogger behind Happily Ever Style) romantic and timeless style with a modern twist, and when we spotted the runway set up of Tory Burch FW ‘18, we knew that we wanted to channel this inviting garden feel to the afternoon tea gathering we are creating with Tricia. Since this lovely afternoon tea is taking place during the spring time, we wanted to also incorporate a few popular SS ‘18 trends, such as transparency, sheerness, millennial pink, pastels and fringe-like textures.
For floral, paper and cake designs, we focused on showcasing the beauty of natural textures. From watercolor invitation design, hand-dyed ribbons, hand-painted cake design, to the garden-inspired floor arrangements and the organic lush centerpiece with pieces trailing down the table runner. We also added a few different fruits to our tablescape to create that inviting and intimate atmosphere.
Guys, how, how are we already through the first week of August?! We made sure to have some extra festive summer inspiration on the calendar this month for all you squeezing every last drop of fun out of the season. And what’s more fun than a DIY floral swim cap and tropical cocktails?! These cute summer bachelorette party ideas come from a shoot First Mate Photo and Krissy of Pollen Floral dreamt up at The Verb Hotel in Boston. See how to pull it off, below…
First things first, choose your locale. If you plan to hang poolside, make sure it’s a spot you’ll want to spend a lot of time lounging at, like a cool boutique hotel or Airbnb.
Incorporate a DIY element or something personal just for the bride. This floral swim cap is such a fun DIY! They found a vintage swim cap online and used hot glue and floral adhesive tape (u-glue) to hold the flowers in place.
And every good pool party has a summer cocktail… Grab the recipe for this one below!
You can prepare your own homemade shrub for this pineapple cocktail beforehand. Here’s how:
Put pineapple + vinegar into sealed mason jars and let sit at room temp for 7-10 days, shaking them briefly every day. Strain out the liquid with a potato masher. Pour the liquid and sugar into a saucepan and simmer until sugar has dissolved. Let cool and return to sealed jar, then enjoy. Tip: You can store this in the refrigerator for several weeks!
Muddle a few pieces of diced pineapple and pineapple shrub in a cocktail shaker. Add gin and pineapple juice. Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into rocks glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a pineapple slice.
Don’t forget some activities! Another fun DIY project is to fill a piñata with flower petals. So cute!
