Nettie + Mitch Westin Savannah Harbor Savannah, Georgia 24 x 36 in.
We love destination weddings, and Savannah is one of the most charming southern cities to consider for a wedding celebration! Being from Charleston, it's easy to see how we feel right at home with the historic details, incredible food, and gorgeous coastal views. Nettie + Mitch chose Savannah as the backdrop for their celebration, and it did not disappoint! The Westin Savannah Harbor was the venue chosen for their reception which overlooks a gorgeous waterfront view. Ben was commissioned to capture the details of their reception as they shared their first dance, surrounded by friends and family. Throughout the planning process, we've just come to love their family ... and since their wedding, have even had the opportunity to paint for one of Nettie's brother, Charles! What an absolute joy to celebrate with this amazing couple!

Laura + Chris Cape Fear Country Club Wilmington, North Carolina 24 x 30 in. Canvas
One of the highest compliments we've ever received is when Laura + Chris were planning their wedding and chose their date around Ben's availability! Ben captured Laura's sister's wedding with a live painting (see Elizabeth's gorgeous painting here!) last year and their family was determined to have Ben celebrate with their family again! Each live painting is special, but having the opportunity to paint for each sibling brings on a whole new level of meaning to us! Laura and Chris' wedding day was indeed special, and Ben was welcome almost like family! It was so fun to see and recognize so many guests and family members, too! Cape Fear Country Club was a lovely backdrop for their day! Laura chose the most beautiful color pallet that included deep fall wine shades popped with feminine lavender notes. The hanging chandelier was an absolutely stunning centerpiece for their reception! Honestly, being part of their day was a true honor and highlight to our year! Cheers to this sweet couple and the opportunity to celebrate another joyous day with their family and friends!

Dana + Alex Cannon Green Charleston, South Carolina 24 x 30 in. Canvas
Ben and I (Jen) feel so lucky to call Charleston home on both a personal and business level. From the architectural beauty, to the food, to the beaches, and the southern hospitality, it's no wonder Charleston has become such a sought after wedding destination. Though Ben loves traveling internationally and nationally for live wedding paintings, sometimes ... it's just so good to be home! It's rare that we have a local wedding, and even more of a rarity when the bride and groom are also locals! Dana + Alex's wedding day was so fresh, unique, and full of life. We were thrilled to be part of their celebration. The two chose downtown Charleston's Cannon Green as the backdrop for both their ceremony and reception. The courtyard, overflowing with lush greenery, was so lovely for both their ceremony and cocktail hour as guests then transitioned into the Carriage House ballroom for dinner and dancing. The icing on the cake was when Dana requested that Ben capture their live painting in a more loose, impressionistic style ... and to have them painted faceless! As if the setting weren't inspiring enough, Ben loves having this type of creative freedom! Ben was so pleased with how their live painting came together and we're thrilled to share it today on the blog! Cheers to this amazing Charleston couple and their gorgeous wedding day!

Lindsay + Alex Lowndes Grove Plantation Charleston, South Carolina 24 x 30 in.
We love surprises! Lindsay's sweet mother surprised her and Alex with a live wedding painting on their big day! As Charleston locals, the couple chose the iconic low country landscape of Lowndes Grove Plantation as the backdrop for their wedding celebration. Needless to say, this view is always so inspirational for Ben to capture. The canopy of oak trees with the cotton candy sunset shining through over the water is always such a breathtaking view. Though we've had many weddings at this gorgeous venue, there's not a single sunset that's the same, making each painting unique! Lindsay and Alex chose Jacqueline of Sweetgrass Social to coordinate and design their wedding day. From the gorgeous floral arch to the ceremony floral pieces at the entryway, Ben loved capturing their vows. (Branch Design Studio created GORGEOUS floral arrangements, including a spectacular hanging floral chandelier under their tented reception. There were so many heartfelt details in every design decision, making this day a true celebration of their love uniting as one. We are thrilled to share images captured by Marni Rothschild of the details!! Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting Lindsay and Alex at a local coffee shop to deliver their finished painting. Ben was so grateful to hear just how meaningful the painting is to them... and that they have already chosen a place for it over the mantel in their living room! Cheers to this incredible Charleston bride and groom - what a joy to celebrate their gorgeous wedding day.

Ben Keys Art: As Seen In: Wrightsville Beach: The Luminous Island
Ben's coastal landscape paintings (benkeys.com) have been collected for over a decade! One of his first set of paintings was a series of architectural portraits of the historic Wrightsville Beach cottages. And that series has officially made it into a history book! Special thank you to author, Ray McAllister, for taking the time to attend one of Ben's recent art shows and learning all about Ben's deep connection and ties to Wrightsville Beach. That first series of paintings now holds an emotional place both personally and professionally, making this feature very special to our family. Head on over to Amazon or Barnes & Noble to pick up a copy of "Wrightsville Beach: The Luminous Island." You can find Ben's story and work in the Afterword addition of the 10th Anniversary Edition.
Amy + John C. Barton McCann School of the Art Petersburg, PA 24 x 36 in. Canvas
Where's the perfect place for a live wedding painting: an art school of course! Ben was so excited to capture Amy + John's ceremony held in the sculpture garden of the C. Barton McCann School of the Art located in Petersburg, PA. The winding cobblestone pathway with sculptures and beautiful gardens made for such a beautiful and unique painting. There was such an intimate and organic feel to their wedding as the guests were sitting throughout the garden. And honestly, the setup was a refreshing twist to having guests seated in traditional rows. A reception followed after the ceremony and Ben enjoyed meeting their friends and family as the live painting progressed throughout the evening. What an amazing couple! We considered it such a joy to get to know them and to be part of their sweet wedding day!

Katie + Bill The White Elephant Nantucket, MA 24 x 30 in. Canvas
If there's one location that's been on our destination wedding wish list since day one, it's NANTUCKET! When Katie called to inquire if Ben was available, we were over-the-moon excited to hear all the details of their dream coastal wedding day. Having vacationed to Nantucket for years together, and Bill being from a family of avid sailors, Nantucket was the perfect location for their celebration. Needless to say, Nantucket did not disappoint. We loved how Kate + Bill's wedding day highlighted the best of Nantucket, from the waterfront view overlooking the harbor to the little details like the oyster bar made out of a skiff that was open during cocktail hour ... every detail allowed for guests to appreciate this couple's love and connection to each other even more! That's one of the reasons that we love destination weddings. The couple is able to share their love and connection to a place with their closest friends and family. What a gift to the couple and the guests! Katie and Bill decided that the cocktail hour would be the best backdrop for the painting as it allowed for Ben to capture everyone enjoying the gorgeous waterfront view during the day. Ben has always loved painting the coastal landscape ... check out benkeys.com to see more of his non-wedding paintings ... and the view from the White Elephant was such an iconic Nantucket seascape! The guests loved watching their live painting come together and we are so thrilled to share the finished painting. Thank you so much to Kate of Plan it MV and to Jocelyn Filley for sharing their gorgeous wedding images!
Nantucket, MA was the perfect destination for K+B's destination wedding. Ben was so thrilled to capture their cocktail hour overlooking the iconic waterfront view with a live wedding painting.
