Whether you’re planning a romantic date night in with bae or inviting the girls over for a Galentine’s Day party, a festive Valentine’s cocktail is the perfect way to set the mood. With bold, vibrant expressions like Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate or Van Gogh Vanilla, you can keep things simple and create a delicious chocolate vodka martini with just a few cocktail ingredients. Saving time on the front end will leave you with more time to explore cocktail garnish ideas and craft creative garnish art they’ll fall head over heels for.

This Valentine’s Day, #GoghCreate our Love At First Sip Martini and add a special touch with one of four romantic cocktail garnish ideas!

Love at First Sip Martini

1 oz. Van Gogh Vanilla

1/2 oz. Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate

1 1/2 oz. Dark Chocolate Liqueur

1 oz. cream

Pour vanilla vodka, chocolate vodka, chocolate liqueur and cream into a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Add a festive garnish of your choice.

The Strawberry Rose

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 large strawberry
  • 1 cocktail pick
  • Paring knife
  • Cutting board

Step One: Set the strawberry on a cutting board, leaf side down.

Step Two: Starting about ½ inch from the base, make a 45 degree angle cut inward about ¾ the way through the strawberry.

Step Three: Use your knife to curl the tip of the “petal” by pressing it back.

Step Four: Make two or three more petals, repeating steps two and three around the entire base of the strawberry.

Step Five: Starting just above the base row of petals, repeat steps two through four to create the next row of petals. If there’s room, add a third row around the tip.

Step Six: Finish your rose by pushing the tip of the strawberry inward. Stick a skewer through the middle of the strawberry and balance it on your martini glass.

Citrus Kiss

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 large chunk of orange peel
  • Paring knife or X-ACTO Knife
  • Cutting board

Step One: Take a large, thin piece of orange peel and lay it on a cutting board, outside facing up.

Step Two: Use a knife to trace the outline of the lips into the peel, cutting all the way through.

Step Three: Remove the excess peel and discard. Then, make a horizontal slit through the middle of the lips.

Step Four: Place the lips on the rim of your cocktail glass and press down in the center to secure them to the rim.

Cupid’s Arrow

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 small strawberry
  • 2 blackberries
  • 1 arrow cocktail pick
  • Paring knife
  • Cutting board

Step One: Remove the stem and leaves from a strawberry.

Step Two: Holding the strawberry tip-end down, cut it in half. Take one of the halves and deepen the V-shaped notch at the top, rounding out the rough edges with your knife to create the top of the heart.

Step Three: Stick a blackberry on an arrow toothpick. Then, add the strawberry heart and the last blackberry.

Step Four: Balance the toothpick on the rim of your martini glass.

Sweetheart Sugar Rim

What You’ll Need:

  • Simple syrup
  • Sugar
  • Heart sprinkles
  • 2 small bowls or saucers

Step One: Fill one bowl with simple syrup and one with sugar.

Step Two: Dip the rim of your glass in the simple syrup and spin the glass so the entire outer edge becomes moist.

Step Three: Repeat step two in the bowl of sugar, ensuring an even coat around the entire rim.

Step Four: Place heart sprinkles around the rim of the martini glass, spacing them about ½ inch apart.

One of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit is to break out the holiday spirits and host a festive cocktail party. Filling your home with friends and family and celebrating the season over food and drinks can truly make it feel like the most wonderful time of the year. From crafting cocktails to decking the halls, here are a few of our favorite ways to make the night extra merry and bright!

#GoghCreate a Signature Cocktail

Crafting a signature holiday cocktail is a great way to wow your guests with your creativity and keep bartending quick and simple. For an instant crowd-pleaser, try adding popular winter flavors, like peppermint, to a classic cocktail through DIY vodka infusion. You can #GoghCreate your own peppermint-infused Van Gogh Vodka in just a few simple steps:

Step One: Unwrap and crush three candy canes into pieces.

Step Two: Place crushed candy canes in a glass jar or bottle. Add 8 oz. Van Gogh Vodka and stir.

Step Three: Let the vodka sit and stir every few hours until all the candy cane pieces are dissolved.

Step Four: Use your peppermint-infused Van Gogh Vodka to put a festive spin on a classic cocktail, like a White Russian.

Van Gogh Peppermint White Russian
1 oz. peppermint-infused Van Gogh Vodka
2 oz. coffee liqueur
2 oz. half-and-half
Vanilla frosting
Crushed candy canes

Apply thin layer of vanilla frosting around the rim of a glass. Dip rim in bowl of crushed candy canes, covering the frosting entirely. Chill for 10 minutes. In a cocktail shaker, add vodka, coffee liqueur and half-and-half. Shake and pour into peppermint-rimmed glass with ice.

Pick the Perfect Platters

Cooking for a crowd can be a challenge. The trick? It’s better to have a few amazing dishes than an large array of average ones. Rather than overwhelming yourself with a menu longer than your holiday wish list, select a few hors d’oeuvres you can prepare in batches. Then, tie everything together by leaning into The Art Of Vodka and suggesting food and cocktail pairings that enhance the flavors of the dishes.

For a savory platter, layer smoked salmon, crème fraiche, caviar and fresh rosemary on cucumber slices and serve with our signature Van Gogh Vodka.

For a tangy platter, add goat cheese, raspberries and mint to bruschetta and serve with Van Gogh Raspberry.

For a sweet platter, set out assorted chocolate truffles and serve with Van Gogh Double Espresso.

Don’t Forget to Deck the Halls

Tie a bow on the night with a few simple, festive touches:

  • Light candles. Not only do they give the room a warm glow, they also bring attention to spaces where your guests can gather.
  • Create a holiday playlist. Make sure to keep the volume just loud enough to set the mood, but low enough guests can chat without raising their voices.
  • Decorate with winter greenery. Cedar garland, boughs of holly and scattered pine cones lean into the minimalist trend and add a fresh, seasonal scent to your home.

One of the best parts about crafting your own cocktails is getting the chance to channel your creativity and create something new. Even better? Getting creative doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the best way to mix things up is to go back to the basics. Or in this case, the bitters.

Bitters have always been a staple cocktail ingredient, but recently they’ve made their way back into the limelight with the craft cocktail craze, praised for their versatility and bold flavor. Created from an infusion of bark, herbs, fruit peels, flowers, roots and other ingredients, there are an endless variety of bitters to choose from. They’re a simple way to add a dash of complexity to your cocktail, packing a burst of bold flavor in just a few drops. As you get ready to #GoghCreate your next signature drink, try getting creative and experimenting with these different types of bitters:

Aromatic Bitters: One of the oldest and most popular types of bitters, aromatic bitters are a key ingredient in many classic cocktail recipes. With a strong aroma packed with herbs, spices and barks, they’re perfect for adding structure and complexity to sweet or fruity cocktails.

Pro Tip: Try adding a dash of bitters to our Van Gogh Spiked Iced Coffee:

2 oz. Van Gogh Double Espresso or Van Gogh Espresso
1 oz. iced coffee
½ oz. sweetened condensed milk
½ oz. whole milk

Add ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into an ice-filled glass.

Citrus Bitters: Citrus bitters are super versatile, pairing well with most types of alcohol and adding a bright, fresh twist to your cocktail. Although orange bitters are the most popular, you can also add a bit of zest with other flavors like lemon, lime or grapefruit.

Pro Tip: Try adding a dash of orange bitters to the Van Gogh Cypress Martini!

Spiced Bitters: These bitters can allow one spice to shine, like ginger bitters, or hero a culinary spice blends, like smoked chili or Mexican mole bitters. You can use them to put a unique, creative spin on savory, earthy or dessert cocktails.

Pro Tip: Try adding a dash of smoked chili bitters to the Van Gogh Bloody Mary!

Floral or Herbaceous Bitters: From dandelion, lavender and hibiscus to chamomile and jasmine blends, floral or herbaceous bitters are the perfect way to add earthy, woody undertones to any light, springtime cocktail.

Pro Tip: Try adding a dash of floral bitters to the Van Gogh Starry Night Sparkler!

Nut Bitters: A relatively new invention, nut bitters are quickly growing in popularity. You can use coffee, chocolate or walnut bitters to add a roasted, nutty flavor and elevate your favorite dessert cocktail.

Pro Tip: Try adding a dash of chocolate bitters to our Double Espresso Martini!

There’s nothing quite like summer nights, especially those spent under the stars. They’re the inspiration behind Vincent Van Gogh’s most famous masterpiece and our bold, vibrant expressions.

Now, you can celebrate those starry summer nights in a new way by hosting an evening soirée during the Perseid Meteor Shower, the most popular and dazzling show of shooting stars in the Northern Hemisphere. With a few touches of creativity, you can bring Van Gogh’s Starry Night to life right in your own backyard.

Pro Tip: The Perseid Meteor Shower will be at peak visibility August 11-13 between midnight and dawn!

Cosmic Cocktail and Dessert Bar

Wow your guests with a creative, Starry Night-inspired cocktail and dessert bar.

Step One: For drinks that dazzle, we suggest crafting an effervescent cocktail such as Van Gogh Starry Night Sparkler, the Cool Peach Bellini or the Cucumber Mint Fizz.

Step Two: Craft your intergalactic garnishes. Cut stars, crescent moons or twists out of fruits and vegetables, like starfruit, cucumber, pineapple, and cantaloupe.

Step Three: Get creative and set out rock candy for use as stunning stirrers.

Step Four: Top it all off with a variety of themed desserts, such as cosmic cupcakes or galaxy lollipops.

Constellation Place Settings

Elevate your evening under the stars with a few elegant touches, such as:

  • Constellation name cards
  • Galaxy plates or napkins
  • Tea lights and candles
Starry Stemware

Unique stemware is guaranteed to earn your soirée a five-star review, and they can also serve as fun take-home souvenirs.

Step One: Print off your favorite constellation or get creative and freestyle one! Tape the paper to the inside of a glass.

Step Two: Trace the constellation with a white paint marker. Repeat with all of your glasses.

Step Three: Allow the glasses to dry, then place them into a cool oven and turn the oven to 350 degrees. Bake them for 30 minutes. Make sure to let them cool fully before taking them out.

Step Four: Add a unique touch, like beautiful Van Gogh Starry Night charms, so guests can tell their drinks apart.

Stellar Stargazing Tips:

Give your guests a great show with a few tricks:

Lights Out: Host your Starry Night soirée in a dark location with minimal light pollution, and make sure to turn off all the lights before you start stargazing.

Ditch the Binoculars: Shooting stars are easier to see with the naked eye.

Break out the Blankets: Give your guests a space to lie down so they don’t strain their necks while looking up at the sky.

Ready to awaken your taste buds? Master mixologists recently shared their predictions with Bar Business Magazine for springtime’s favorite sips, and it’s got us sprinting to happy hour.

As cocktail menus begin to shed their winter layers, mixologists are looking for ways to refresh with innovative, yet uncomplicated cocktails.

“Spring is a time of rejuvenation and starting anew, don’t be afraid to go back to basics,” advises Shaun Meglen, Bar Manager of Péché in Austin, TX.

Simplicity begins with your spirits. As bartenders are looking to reinvigorate their cocktail creations, Jonathan Pogash, The Cocktail Guru, advises them not to “knock vodka.”

“It’s still popular and guests are asking for it. You can be extremely creative on spring menus with great vodkas,” says Pogash.

In need of some creative cocktail inspiration? Pogash suggests playing with naturally bold flavors to help your vodka shine.

“I love the fresh and vibrant burst of raspberries and blackberries on spring cocktail menus, as well as the aromatic qualities found in herbs like mint, rosemary and lavender,” says Pogash. He also recommends blending herbs with flavored spirits, particularly antioxidant flavors like pomegranate and açaí-blueberry.

Florals, bitters, honey and even maple are also stealing the spring spotlight, but no matter what you choose to #GoghCreate, remember to always, “keep it simple.”

Discover your favorite take on the spring trends by mixing up your own cocktail creation. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Pomegranate Serenade

1 ½ oz. Van Gogh Pomegranate
2 ½  oz. lemonade
Top off with club soda
Mint and lemon to garnish

Combine Van Gogh Pomegranate and lemonade into a glass with ice, then top off with club soda. Stir gently and add lemon wheels and mint to garnish.

Lovin’ the Blues

2 oz. Van Gogh Açaí-Blueberry
½ oz. cranberry juice
½ oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. honey syrup (equal parts honey and water, dissolved)
5 blueberries

Muddle the blueberries in the lime juice and honey syrup. Add remaining ingredients and ice and shake well. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with two raspberries and a lime wheel on a pick.

Melon Basil Sour

2 oz. Van Gogh Melon
¾ oz. fresh lime juice
¾ oz. simple syrup
1 egg white
2 basil leaves

Muddle basil leaves at the bottom of a mixing glass. Add all ingredients and dry shake. Add ice and shake again. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with bitters, a dehydrated lime wheel and a basil leaf.
